Well, it's very nearly Christmas, so
Nadolig Llawen a heddychlon i bawb!

Tim has just left for midnight mass (he's playing), and Iestyn has gone to sleep. All is calm. Sad I'm not at the midnight service, as I always, always love it - it's so magical. But I also get an extra bit of sleep - Christmas is always knackering for (a) vicars, and (b) organists - and their wives!

Have a lovely one, and 'speak' soon. Maybe tomorrow if I'm escaping the inlaws!

DingDongAlipalisOnAHigh · 24/12/2008 23:39

Lying on an air mattress that has a puncture in my old bedroom at my parents' house wondering when it will go flat

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing day tomorrow, and that Santa brings you everything you wish for.

systemsaddict · 25/12/2008 15:44

Just popping in while both kids nap at same time - v. unusual Christmas gift!! - to say Happy Christmas everyone!! Hope everyone is having a lovely day with their LOs and families. Josey v. glad to hear Oli got home and is healing well.

It's the first Christmas in years we've had at home and I am really enjoying it! Caitlin joined us for Christmas dinner - amazing how much mess one baby can make with a few roast potatoes and a carrot or two! She also had meat for the first time, sucking on a bit of turkey, she was v. excited. Not nearly as excited as my 2 year old though who was up till after 10 last night peering through his cot bars waiting for Santa, and woke up shouting Mum! Mum! It's Kissmas!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas season and fabulous 2009 xx

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 25/12/2008 16:08

Happy Christmas everyone, ver y early start here, Stefan and Tristan awake since 3.30 am, presents opened at 5.30 am - yawn. Had a lovely day, Ethan a little star.

Amberc · 25/12/2008 17:07

Made a lovely Xmas dinner which we ate in 5 minutes flat whilst Luke was asleep. He had a violent ellergic reaction to some cheese earlier and came out in hives all over his face which scared the life out of me (almost phoning 999 in case on anaphylactic shock!) and now he has a temperatire of 38.1 and is in a foul mood 'cos he's so hot I guess. Maybe teething but he was not well yesterday either. Merry Christmas to all - hope it's better than ours!!

systemsaddict · 25/12/2008 18:26

Special happy Christmas to you Amber, just skimmed the past few pages. Don't worry, things will work out, don't listen to anyone else's 'shoulds', no-one else is living your life and no-one else can tell you what the right decisions are for your family. I am sure that in time you will work things out fine. Sorry your Xmas day has been dramatic, hope it settles down soon!

Amberc · 25/12/2008 19:39

Ah - thanks Systems! Actually, when I woke up Mark had put a trail of photos of Luke's life in chronological order from my bedroom all the way down the stairs and into the living room . Starting with his scan pics and finishing with the ones from our hols. Was so sweet so I have had a nice day even though Luke has been ill. Mark got me a beautiful hand made leather photo album with Luke Joseph Learner - My Life Volume I embossed on the front to put them in - gorgeous! Luke's asleep now so we've had our mince pies at last!

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 25/12/2008 20:41

Sorry Luke's been poorly Amber.

The trail of photos was a really lovely thing for Mark to do.

Happy Christmas

bitofasnowqueen · 26/12/2008 09:39

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Sorry to hear about Luke amber I hope he's better today.

We had a lovely day yesterday with my family, and spending today with DH's. S's first teeth have broken through this morning which is a bit exciting - we can forgive him for crying for hours for the last couple on nights now!

OP posts:
Amberc · 26/12/2008 09:49

Oooh - more teeth eh? I wish Luke would get some as I have heard the teething pain is never as bad once the first ones have come through (that may be crap though ). Ryder PP's baby had a good gnaw on my finger with his little razors and I was jealous!

Luke is still ill today. It broke my heart this morning when he cried for about half an hour. This was proper distress crying not just grumpy crying. It sounded like when a child cries not a baby. He cannot breathe at all through his nose and he's pulling his ears like mad so I think his sinuses must be blocked up. He's on the medised as it said it helps them breathe but it doesn't seem to be working on my little lamb.

I do hope everyone had a lovely first Christmas with their little ones . Gawd knows where I am going to out all his new toys. I think that trip to the hospital with all his 'spare' teddies will be sooner rather than later! Do hospitals actually take things like that?

PS I cried last night at Eastenders! The scenes with Dot and Jim were so moving escpecially as the actor who plays Jim really has had a stroke and is very unwell bless him.

goingfor3 · 26/12/2008 21:01

amber I hope Luke is feeling better soon. The photos sound really lovely!

We went to IL's for christmas day and had dry turkey and over cooked sprouts and burnt cocktail sauasges! I really fancy a proper christmas dinner now

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 27/12/2008 07:07

Morning all, anyone else got a baby feeding every 2 hours through the night again?YAWN

Amber - could it be an ear infection? If he's still poorly I'd get him checked out as antibiotics would soon sort it.

Amberc · 27/12/2008 15:00

Thanks Debs/g43 but he is definitely getting better today so not an ear infection I don't think - his cheeks are like little tomoatoes so probably teething (as usual). We've almost finished the Medised throughout this illness but my god it works well! It seems to kick in after about 5 minutes and then he is instantly better - marvellous. Mark & I are going out for a nice dinner tonight as we're not doing anything on NYE which means I have to try and dig up something decent to wear in my size. hmmm....

bitofasnowqueen · 27/12/2008 15:57

Not feeding through the night deb but I've got one that's crying through the night just now . S still isn't over his cold (its been about 3 weeks - is this normal?) and was coughing and spluttering all through the night. Even bringing him into bed with us didn't soothe him, so its fair to say our house is full of tired bunnies today. He's teething too, the poor thing.

I sent DH off to the local pharmacy today but they didn't stock medised . Think we really need to get some. I think DH is a bit nervy because its banned for under 2's, but S really needs something to get over the worst of this cold.

Amber glad to hear that Luke is better. I hope you enjoy your night out - sympathies on outfit traumas; I hate shopping because of my current shape. Everything I would normally like looks terrible on me, and I have no idea what kind of things will suit me now. Lots of trial and error when I go shopping now.

Diet starts on New Year's day! My Medised says for babies over 3 months. The only reason they put over 2s on it is because some naughty mummies were using it every night to get their babies to sleep.

bitofasnowqueen · 27/12/2008 18:48

We went and got some - ours still says from 3 months too. I cant believe that they've still not repackaged it - we were all still pregnant when they withdrew it from sale for the under 2's. Amber my diet starts on Jan 5th - got a party to go to on the 3rd

OP posts:
NoRoomAtThePenguin · 27/12/2008 21:32

My diet starts again when all the chocolate is gone!

Hope Luke is a bit better Amber.

Deb - How's the snow? Ryder has started waking at night more again. As Amber said, he has two teeth that has popped up, but do continue to feel pain once they're through? I thought it was the getting through the gum bit that hurt.

Ryder's also been commando style crawling for a bit now, but much as when he started rolling, he completely forgets how to do it when a camera is around. Off to Ikea tomorrow for safety stuff though. His current game is to crawl over to the sky box and pause/rewind the tv.

I bought DH an x box for Xmas, but I've been the one on it non stop since discovering Guitar Hero. I was playing this morning and Ryder obviously wanted some attention as he turned it off, twice.

We're just getting a take away on NYE Amber, which is great as I can wear PJ's for that. What is everyone else doing?

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 27/12/2008 22:16

Amber - glad Luke's feeling better, enjoy your meal out.

Snowqueen - sorry to hear about teething troubles, coughing and spluttering.

Penguin - Not too much snow falling at the moment but very cold. We did have snow on Christmas day though which was lovely.

I lost track of how many times I ended up feeding Ethan last night, and today he was really off his food and grumpy with his Grandma when we were trying to clean the apartments.Fingers crossed for a better night tonight.

Just enjoyed a lovely bath and Nigel brought me down a Baileys and chocs!

bitofasnowqueen · 27/12/2008 23:31

Have a lovely time poppy.

NYE - we have friends over for dinner PP - proper grown up dinner party with nice food, champagne, lovely cheese, and, er, wine!

Medised working so far this evening... but dont want to speak to soon.

Amberc · 28/12/2008 10:41

Hi all Luke is a bit better today although screamed himself to sleep this morning as he still can't breathe properly poor thing.

We had a LOVELY dinner last night at the OXO tower restaurant - wasn't expecting the food to be that good but it was outrageously good. I stuffed my face on Foie Gras, Duck and the cheeseboard and we had a bottle of wine and I had a champagne cocktail. Did fell pissed up though but Mark reaped the benefits of that when we got home . That's my NYE sorted a bit early but the real NYE is usually (IMO) a bit of a let down. Probably will be fast akip at midnight on NYE and all the better for it!

PP - wow that's scary - having to baby proof everything already..Luke is nowhere near crawling - he's more likely to walk than crawl - he hates it on his tummy and likes to stand up much more.

Deb - hope Ethan's so stuffed after all his feeding last night he sleeps all the way through tonight for you.

Poppy - enjoy your hols! Send me a friend request on Facebook!

bitofasnowqueen · 28/12/2008 10:45

Glad he's a bit better today Amber. S was up half the night (along with me) so DH taken him to Sainsburys to give me a rest. Am knackered. We're off out tonight though, and it will definitely be DH's turn (assuming of course I have the energy for a night out later . Your meal sounds gorgeous btw.

Right, have the inlaws coming today so best shift my ass!
