any tree pics amberc -and am glad you're feeling more postive abotu xmas - you've had a rough 18 months or so.

May I recommend night nurse - its medised for grown ups.. and lol re the reference on the medised -maybe it means luke shouldn't go in his walker

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 21:43

Essie, my cousin did it with pics of Theo and Esther and three of my sisters' kids! I can;t stop watching it, it is so funny.

Josey, I am so pleased your DH is home.

I am LOVING all the nativity talk - so funny!

Theo is crying so better go

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 21:55

I gave him some Medised . Well that is the second time he has woken tonight and he is all snuffly.

Yeah, you have to buy it over the counter. The pharmacist just asked me how old the baby was and was he on any other medication. I had my back story all worked out (date of birth and everything!) but she wasn't arsed. Why would she be?

I think I will def try Night Nurse next time I am ill!

Amberc · 12/12/2008 21:59

Oh my god the elf thing!!!! I just did it with luke's picture and it's the funniest thing ever!!!!

systemsaddict · 12/12/2008 22:02

Essie indeed, we could not survive in this house without the Rabbitts mat! ds has resisted nappy changes since birth and once he hit 18 months or so it literally became impossible to change him until we discovered it. highly recommend! Caitlin is fine about nappies but it is nice to strap her in and be able to wash my hands without having to move her first.

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:03

Profile is back!

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 23:30

Essie that is so cute! How do you get the pic on the profile page - I have been trying to do it tonight but can only get pics onto my photos page not on my main profile page.

Yeah the elves thing is wicked isn't it!

What;s the Rabbitts mat?

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:32

Back now. Systems really pleased that you've actually used the rabbitts mat. It came up because Iestyn wriggles and writhes when I try to change him now and it's getting really hard to put a nappy on him. I used one at a Moto service station a while back and a lady at the adjacent mat was really keen on it. Then on the way out I noticed a leaflet! I'm going to persuade Tim to get one for Iestyn now. Shame they don't do a travel one!

Had a lovely time at Alipali's place today, and great to see Sponge too - although I was dreadfully disappointed that she refused to take my top tip and give Alex some Coca Cola in his bottle.
The journey back was ok but Penguin and I hit some heavy traffic just into Wimbledon, and Iestyn started screaming (crying variety not the bird variety - he does both) and that set off Ryder. They would both settle, then Ryder started which set off Iestyn. It was actually hilarious although the babies' distress wasn't really all that funny.

Tim is back - we had a mega row just as he set off for Wrexham (!) and so a temporary separation. My revenge is to make him sleep with Iestyn and deal with him tonight although we probably won't attempt a bottle just yet.

And Christmas - well, I phoned my MIL, ready for a fight. Broke the news gently - and she laughed and said no point in spending money on fixing an oven which will be thrown out shortly, and why not just have a casserole. Or something grilled (UpsideDownChristmasCake suggested Welsh rarebit! )

Essie3 · 12/12/2008 23:38

X-posted Neenz (but I did feed and waited whilst Iestyn was being changed!).
Rabbitts mat - you might find this useful with twins, just to restrain one not necessarily during nappy changes!! It's a change mat with a parachute harness on it. Here. I'm posting the link because I googled rabbits and got vibrators. Loads of them!

To get the pic on your profile:
go to public profile (the one with info about age etc), just below 'a few words about you' is the picture option: 'If you wish, you may choose a Picture from your gallery to go with your introduction'. There should be a drop down menu and you can choose your picture. It only works if you've named your pictures though.

Iestyn is doing the high pitched screeches again. [distressed face emoticon]

neenztwinz · 13/12/2008 00:01

Done the pic thing on my profile page (thanks for that)

The Rabbitts mat looks great. Theo and Esther lie happily on our changing station at the mo, but I do worry when I have to leave them on it to go and flush poo from their nappies down the loo. One day I will hear a terrible thud... . So maybe I should get one of them.

Esther kind of crawled today... well, she does a sort of breaststroke motion, bringing both her legs up underneath her body and then pushing her feet into the mat and straightening her legs... she moves a few inches forward anyway - does that count? She hasn't worked out that she needs to support herself with her hands - she still has her arms bent under her chin.

Are we a bit sad being on MN at this time of the night? DH is out with his friends for a Christmas thing and I hate going to bed on my own.

Good news about the oven Essie.

hedgeHogfather · 13/12/2008 08:44

morning all,

Isaac is currently asleep at my feet on the floor, although he only woke up at 7.15.

That changing mat looks good although I currently change Isaac on the floor in the living room.

amber glad you are enjoying your tree, Has Luke seen it yet?

essie hope you enjoyed your take away - I don't get the pleasure I used to from them but I think that is because DH brings home food pretty regularly.

I have already had a scummy mummy moment this morning - Isaac was sick in my mouth as I was holding him above me and playing and it kind of dribbled out of him and into my mouth (OMG I can't believe I admitted that on a public forum)

pureedchesnutsonanopenfire · 13/12/2008 09:31

HH- had that happen to me. It's totally disgusting!!!!

pureedchesnutsonanopenfire · 13/12/2008 09:34

Have triple-checked sponge but have definitely not got the email about London meet-ups . And you did have my address right last time: ahelpinghand at inbox dot com.

pureedchesnutsonanopenfire · 13/12/2008 09:38

Morning all- trying to type with dog in my way- keep posting instead of pressing return!

Been laughing at nativity talk- hard to believe it will be us one day...my trees look fab, though still need lights for the second one....pissing with rain so no beach for us today

Tried the mesh bag thing someone recommended and it worked really well. Babypearls had banana goo and falafel for tea last night- it was so messy I had to strip her naked and leave all her clothes on the kitchen floor. She really wants to be feeding herself these days, so more mess to come, I'm sure

Liking these festive smileys

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 13/12/2008 09:40

HH that happened to DH with DS1 when he was about 4 months old but it was a full fledged vomit that caught DH straight on. I was so impressed that he managed not to drop DS1!

josey so glad your DH made it home - it was wild weather last night!

bitofasnowqueen · 13/12/2008 10:16

Morning all, just had a quick skim so apologies for no messages to anyone. Need to go and get ready - S is having his first baby rice at 11am.

On christmas trees - half the lights on my very perfectly decorated christmas tree have gone out . I haven't got the time (or the inclination) to strip it and redo lights. I love my Christmas tree so am very very .

Puree I posted the other day to say sorry as it was my fault that you missed the London emails this week. Back in the summer I set up a MN email distribution group but it hasn't kept pace with the growing group so I missed you off. I have generally struggled with trying to organize the get together. Penguin is much better at it than me. I will try harder in 2009!

spongebrainbigpants · 13/12/2008 10:34

josey, that's such fab news about your dh getting home - a wonderful early Christmas present!

Ali, thank you for hosting yesterday - we also had a lovely time and likewise in terms of feeling like old friends! We already knew so much about each other !

It was really nice to hang out with the mums and babies yesterday - Alex even tried out his first solids, as I was spurred on by watching Peter tuck into his lunch, and Ryder was also enjoying some BLW too, albeit needing it to be handed to him by Penguin! (I like his style!) Alex did not have a great first experience - just crumbled up his oat cake, sucked a bit and threw the rest on the floor! Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be better. Ali did reassure me that perhaps oatcake wasn't going to be the most successful thing to start with!

Iestyn did show us his rolling - and treated us to his amazing screeching! Wow! I thought Alex was noisy!! That's what happens when you have choir boy genes in the family Essie!

It was interesting how much more interest the babies took in each other too - although this extended to Isetyn trying to pull Alex's ear off and Ryder trying to eat his head!! Peter showed us how strong he was by dismantling his babygym!

Btw, Essie, a couple of links you may find interesting:

Saxon history of Wokingham

Noel Edmunds and cosmic ordering

Yes, we did have some eclectic discussions!!

Essie, sorry to disappoint you on the coke - but I have stocked up on some Sunny Delight for next time!

HH, total yuck at sick in mouth! Alex has puked all over my chest before when I've held him over me, but managed to move him away from my mouth!

P&P, really sorry you got missed off - have sent out a new email to all London Ladies which has your name on it. Hope everyone else got it?

I'd second the comments on the Night Nurse - fab stuff! Matt had to dissuade me from making it a nightly thing!

spongebrainbigpants · 13/12/2008 10:44

Ali, x-posted! I've redone the distribution list and sent an email to everyone. Hope I didn't miss anyone off!

passroundflourymincepies · 13/12/2008 11:26

Morning

Well Fleur is better but now DP and I have it!!!
So 2 major things on my uk shopping list are Medised and Night Nurse!!!

I have skim read the posts but off to cross things out on my countless lists as we are leaving next sat early am and as i work til 4.30pm each night and then have Fleur ive got lots to do!!!

BDQ and Essie - I am really gutted as the saro baby pots werent there when i went on Thurs, the next delivery is on Wed 22nd when im away Im soooooo sorry , It so sh*t sometimes living on a small island. If you still want them and can wait til after 10th Jan when im back ill certainly get them to hold some for me and post them from here ( will only charge you the price of them)

Any of you near Norfolk area from 20th dec to 3rd Jan? maybe we could meet up?

right fleur is being a mare for her naps at mo and i really need her to sleep today!!!

systemsaddict · 13/12/2008 12:00

erk - my Christmas preparations have been blindsided by what i think is a 6 month growth spurt - either that or Caitlin is making up for all the puking she's been doing with her cough. Essie wondered if this might have been what Iestyn was going through - is he still feeding all the time?

Have been easing off on the BLW in case solids were irritating her tummy (though I'm sure it's really from the cough) but she's not happy, keeps trying to grab mince pies, not ideal first food! Think I will go and buy baby rice today - not keen on it really but she is claiming to be starving constantly today and hopefully it will be bland enough to stay down.

sorry egocentric post!

neenztwinz · 13/12/2008 12:29

Hi systems, I have been wondering about a growth spurt too cos my two seem to be BFing in the evenings and nights more, but I don;t know whether it is hunger or cos of their colds. They could be waking cos they're ill and I am feeding them back to sleep. I hope it will work itself out, will wait till they are better then decide!

having a lazy day today - I am still in my PJs and we are putting the christmas decs up after lunch.

How did baby rice go BSQ?

Essie3 · 13/12/2008 12:48

Afternoon all! I had a lovely lie in - Iestyn was horrifically unsettled last night, refusing to sleep once he woke at 11.30. Tim insisted that I sleep in our room, and he would sleep with Iestyn, and made me put earplug in! He eventually settled around 1am, and then slept until 6ish and Tim kept him going until 7am. Then Tim let me sleep more, until 10.30! (Yeah, yeah, sounds amazing but he was in such big trouble divorce had been threatened... ) Iestyn has been totally unsettled - he was pretty awful yesterday at the meet up - he's normally quite happy - but last night was weird. We did try calpol but it didn't seem to do anything. Teething? Growth spurt?

HH just loved your post! Really sorry that Isaac was sick in your mouth but it did make me laugh! Also, can I confess that 'DH brings home food' sounds like a cat or a dog! (Luckily I know you and what your DH does! )

Neenz that counts as crawling! It's how it starts! With the rabbitts mat, I'm sure when I went on the website months ago they had a special offer if you bought more than one. Shame they don't have it now really because I would buy a few!
Off to look at kitchens now.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 13/12/2008 15:13

I can't belive that this thread disappeared from the threads i'm on!!

no chance to catch up, hello everyone.

getting v stressed here with list of things that need doing before guests start arriving for our busiest time, and on top of everything also have lots of snow clearing to do.

ethan is happily having baby rice with fruit for breakfast , pureed veg of some sort for dinner and a bit of blw for tea - cucumber sticks have been most successful. He's still not rolling but is nearly sitting. thursday he slept through but it was a one off!

catch up again when i can

bitofasnowqueen · 13/12/2008 15:19

Afternoon all. Glad to be of help Essie. Don't break it now . of your lie in - I think I need to organise one of those for myself.

The baby rice went down a treat thanks Neenz. After the second spoonful he was opening his mouth when the spoon approached and by the fourth he was helping put the spoon in . I'm sure lots of it ended up on his bib as he hasn't figured out how to eat it yet, but he seemed to be happy with the taste and didn't spit any of it out on purpose. Just been and bought a huge pile of fruit and veg at tescos for some serious pureeing later today/tomorrow.

Got great bargain at F&F at tesco too - winter coat for £30! I desperately needed a new one but didn't want to get anything too expensive in my current size and spotted a fairly simple classic coat for £40. They've got 25% off all coats though.

That's a shame about the pots paro. I don't want you to go to any expense though and happy to pay the postage from Spain - it can't be that expensive surely? [ignorant about post costs as always gets DH to post parcels].

LauraT haven't seen you on here much lately so if you're just lurking - hello!
