vbab, DD smiled at 3 and a bit weeks. Definately smiles as they were very different from her windy smile

ikwym about sounding like a sheep rutho.....it's a little Laaaa, Laaaa noise that Bumba makes and is cute, even if he is in distress!

Heartmum2Jamie · 04/12/2008 22:04

Rutho I thought it was just Zack that sounded like a sheep when angry! I have to feel sorry for my little man, cose when he's getting really angry, the rest of us start taking the mickey and all copy his cry straight back at him

I bet your mates baby did look tiny. Zack was never tiny tiny at 8lb 11oz, but tonight I have put him in the sleepsuit that I brought him home from the hospital in. When we brought him home, his hands and feet kept disappearing as it was HUGE on him and it fits him perfectly now. I suppose that is what an extra almost 3lb and at least an inch in length will do for you. I also noticed that he is rapidly losing the newborn scrunch in that his legs are straightening instead of being pulled up to his body and his movements are less jerky too.

Daisy We have had the odd coo here just started today. It sounds a bit like he is about to sneeze, but without the sneeze, lol! We also had a giggle in his sleep yesterday, talk about heart melting moment! Oh, and am I the only one who gets teary eyed every time Zack smiles at me, whether intentional or not??

ChocOrange05 · 04/12/2008 22:05

Saurus you still make me laugh and really pleased to hear you are having fun with your son!

My little man was a dream tonight and only needed settling once before going to sleep and we had to just wake him up for a feed. I think I am the one who's doing it wrong - not him!!

And I just wanted to say, as I haven't said it on here because I have been feeling so out of sorts about everything but I love my little man so much and he is absolutely gorgeous!!!

May change my mind if he keeps me up all night though

Night all. x

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 04/12/2008 22:09

I was just checking DDs red book against DS2s today....she was 10 weeks old before she hit 11lbs!

DH and I were just saying earlier that DS2 looks like a three month old baby already, especially as his neck is quite strong given that he has spent the last four weeks getting tummy time laid over our knee.

We have had wee giggles coming from the carrycot as well heartmum....it is heartmelting isn't it?

ChocO, I don't think anyone doubted that fact

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 04/12/2008 22:10

oops ....that's no-one doubted the fact that you love him to bits, not that no-one doubted the fact that it's you getting it wrong

night all

ChocOrange05 · 04/12/2008 22:15

Daisy thanks for saying that but to be honest I sometimes didn't feel it and was very upset about that but every day that goes by I love him more and more and am loving learning about him and watching him grow. I think the whole life change hit me really hard and at times I resented M for that but he's such a little thing and its not his fault but its taken me a while to realise that and to know I have to cherish and enjoy this time with him.

Morning everyone

Choc don't feel guilty about your feelings - they sound exactly how I felt about DS1 at first - I definitely resented him and what he had done to my life. For me the realisation that I loved him more than anything was when he had to have a life-saving operation at 8 weeks old and I was devastated - but before then, I just felt like I was going through the motions with him )

I love the sounds babies make aswell! Sam does a fine impression of a horse neighing which is hilarious. He also does this really cute thing where he takes a really deep breath, looks like he is going to sneeze and then just lets out a really long, contented sigh - so so cute! But he is SO noisy at night - grunts, whimpers etc. DS1 was never like that so it is a bit of a shock - and we have 6 months of him in our room making noises all night!!!

Daisy funny you said that Fin is the spitting image of your DS1. Sam is exactly the same - in fact, DH commented that him and DS1 could be identical twins but seperated by 2 years!! Even in temperament, things he does etc - it is all exactly as DS1 was. We showed my mum a photo of her holding DS1 and she got confused thinking it was a photo of her holding Sam But DS1 has changed beyond all recognition from when he was born (he was very dark when born but is now very blonde for a start) so him and Sam look like chalk and cheese now.

Sam is regular as clockwork at nights - he wakes at 2ish and then again at 5ish - feeds for 10 minutes and then straight back to sleep. However, the Baby Whisperer is SO wrong regarding 'dream feeds' - I remember reading in her book that if you put a teat in a sleeping baby's mouth, they will automatically suck therefore you can do a 'dream feed' - HA!! She has obviously never met either of my 2 children!! Sam will not feed if he doesn't want to - even in his sleep!! Point blank refuses to suck, if you can get the teat in his mouth which is a challenge in itself!! DS1 was exactly the same - but I guess the night feeds are not going to stop if Sam won't have any milk at 10ish .

OblomovOYeFaithful · 05/12/2008 08:30

Shit night here.
No change there.Dh had him 8-11.
I had him 11-3
He was sick everywhere. And we ended up on the sofa together.

Atleast Rutho's posts have cheered me up.

LadyBuzz · 05/12/2008 09:19

Morning Everyone, loving the christmas names
obs hugs to you for your bad nights
ceebee have you stolen my child?? all the things you say are Jay to a tee!

He has been a little angel last night, went down from 11 until 5:30am then until 9, fo the second time this week.

DS1 is really poorly I had the doctor out to him yesterday and he has a bad ear infection so was up all night with him instead!
DS1 was red and had alot more!

I think we have had a little smile but not too sure. DS1 was grinning at 2 weeks - I found a photo last night and he was beaming!

I'm off out tommorow night for a meal, it was our wedding anniversary on Monday. So will be child free for the night bet i don't sleep!

Hope everyone is well x

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 09:57

I've got mastitis

after all my crowing beaming about how he had finally got the hang of latching on too.

Feeding was agony through the night and I felt like I was coming down with something (sweaty, temp, sore throat, swollen glands, sore breast and armpit). Looking at it this morning, I have the tell tale red lines radiating out from my nipple and red patches on the areoli (which is where the infection seems to be as I've got no blocked ducts that I can feel). Can't get an appointment until 5pm, so it's going to be a long day . dreading feeding him as it is so bloody sore. Reading up on kellymom, I definately need the ABs as there is obvious infection, but I know that if I take ABs then the thrush won't clear up (am still taking fluconazole for that) and we are on a vicious merrygoround of thrush-infection-ABs-thrush....etc etc and so forth

Off to curl up on the sofa with a hot ginger drink and my misery.

OblomovOYeFaithful · 05/12/2008 10:06

Daisy, oh my poor love.
Just when we thought it was getting a bit better.
BIG HUGS.

LadyBuzz · 05/12/2008 10:11

Daisy hugs that sounds nasty

reluctantincubator · 05/12/2008 11:03

I will have a good catch up of this thread to get me up to speed with how you are all doing with your new arrivals as soon as I get the chance. I hope I am not being annoyingly euphoric when you are all knackered but I am still in my post-birth oxytocin love bubble.
xx

OblomovOYeFaithful · 05/12/2008 11:12

congratulations Incubator
Another one at Kings, eh ?
I haven't seen toolly's birth avnnouncement. Did she actually give birth at kings aswell ?

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 11:19

Well Done incubator . I was just thinking about you last night too

misdee · 05/12/2008 11:26

how deo i know if sophie has colic or just just being a moo?

she has been guzzling loads (growth spurt) but is unable to setttle as she had been doing, not sleeping much in the day, and has been posseting more than before. not huge amounts but has only possetting once or twice before the last few days. her crying has been different as well. more screamy than crying. and legs pulling up towards her tum.

LadyBuzz · 05/12/2008 11:41

Congratulations RI beautiful name

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 11:42

that definately sounds a bit colicky misdee . Is it at a specific time of day or all the time? afaik colic os worse in the evenings.

We have had great results with infacol here, but we have to be strict with ourselves and give it at every feed. The colief was good too, but it was too faffy to administer if BFing.

misdee · 05/12/2008 12:08

all day. evenings have been worse will crack open the infacol then

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 05/12/2008 12:35

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 05/12/2008 12:44

what do you think of my name change? Is it totally crap??? any better options???

barbareebaa · 05/12/2008 13:15

Hi all!

Message from Merry

'Mirissa got home Monday night, only getting better yesterday tho. Jude got it too but am coping at home now i know what to do. Very sleep deprived tho. If you get a chance let mn know we're fine'

Gosh. I think Merry is rather amazing - when I think I'm exhausted I can't imagine how it must be x2!!

Will catch up with posts in a bit - am going to attempt to take Will out for a JOLLY TO THE CAKE SHOP - yikes didn't mean to shout!! Haven't been outside yet and very paranoid about him getting cold/ ill/ exposing him to scary things. But must get over it as am being totally irrational and could see if I don't nip it in the bud now it's going to get harder and harder...

see you later!

ChocOrange05 · 05/12/2008 13:35

DM shouldn't it be DingDongDOZYMAREonhigh???? The name you have makes me think of something other than xmas!!

I have just had a lovely time at Dozy's house - with our two very good LO's. Its amazing how good you can feel with some fresh air, good conversation and some victoria sponge cake!!

Congrats RI!!!! So pleased to hear the birth was as you wanted - shame about the placenta but as you are both happy and healthy thats the key thing. Did you like the pool?? I hope you got more use and benefit out of it that I did??

Daisy sorry to hear about your Mastitis, sounds yucky for you and I hope you get better soon. x

Obs whilst M was good last night (waking up to feed at 3.15) I didn't sleep so well and I blame you - I couldn't sleep because I kept trying to think of an xmas name for you!! And how rubbish am I as I still couldn't think of one - but I will persevere!! Oh no, just saw you got one - and its a good'un! Sorry you had a rubbish night - here's hoping for a better one tonight and a hug for you and your little man. x

Glad to hear Merry and the twins are better!

OK - going to go and do some washing up whilst M is sleeping. I figure I should try and get this house in order at some point
