Congratulations RI Daisy sorry to hear about your mastitis.

Not the best of nights here. Went to bed at 11pm, put Z in the moses basket, he was up at 11.40 and didn't go back to sleep until after 2am, woke again at 6 and then up at 8.30am. To make matters worse, he is incredibly fussy today as well and so far, has spent the vast majority of today crying when not feeding or cat napping. If only they didn't lull you into a false sense of security by being all angelic for a few days and then have a really bad day. I suppose I will have to bundle him up and go for a walk to settle to sleep. I told the boys we would put the tree up, but will be impossible to do if Z doesn't shut up.

Pinkyminkee · 05/12/2008 14:33

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 14:38

Ooooh, heels

I've been wearing my high heel boots, feels great after months of flatties

sparkletoes · 05/12/2008 15:35

Hi found you all again!

Have SO much to catch up on and SO much to say! Aaargh!! Can't possibly!

LOVE all the Xmas names AND fact that our Twinkling is back Twinkling again!!

Congrats to Reluctant! Ceebee I have found myself nodding knowingly at many of your posts. DS nap probs - tick! I even resorted to reading a borrowed copy of GF to see if it would get me more sleep but DS2 hasn't fitted in with her routines so - tick!

However I am so far winning the battle on DS naps but no idea how so not expecting it to last!!

BIG WAVES to all of you, wil try to be less tardy in future..! x

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 16:40

For anyone using or thinking about using real nappies......free trial nappy from modern baby

Thanks for the link Daisy. At the moment we seem to prefer pockets (AIO) as Z is a super heavy wetter and I can boost as needed. Plus, he has gained weight so quickly that the many of the size 1 pre-loved nappies are already on the small side.

ruthosaurus · 05/12/2008 17:30

Hi all,

Reluctant, well done! What a birth story as well! Hana I am reading yours next but haven't found it yet.

Obs, you have my sympathy with the vom thing - Fin was sick down my front the other day and I had to empty my actual bra into the handbasin before I could put it into the wash... Getting the breast pads out was the worst bit.

Twelvey, bummer for the mastitis, poor you. I have never had it but it sounds nasty. Hugs to you and your poor boobs x

Dozy, I like your new name, now where is mine, eh?

Back later, DH home. SO 50s...

ruthosaurus · 05/12/2008 17:40

He has naffed off for a wee (I am allowed one later if I'm good, have tried taking Fin to the loo with me but gave up as it got complicated when I couldn't work out the difference between the sling and my jeans and buttoned up the wrong bits) so back I come...

SPARKLE me dear - where were you? I was getting worried! All okay?

Pinky, yay for heels - I really want to get mine on as the last time I wore them was my birthday in July and then I got the fat feet. Happy birthday and have a great night!

My plan for this evening is to go to the shops to buy veg and then to cook a lovely curry while DH baths Fin, as it is SO not my turn and I want to cook something that isn't toast or a cupasoup, you know, like a real grownup.

It may still be cupasoup for tea if I don't get to the loo soon...

Hugs to everyone I missed and hope you all have good Friday nights. You can tell I am a 1st time mum as I am still irrationally cheered that the weekend is here, even though it makes no actual difference to me! Yippeee!

MerryMarigold · 05/12/2008 17:45

Hi. Things must be better, I've made it on here. So the gossip is Christmas names, is it? Gotta think of one better than MerryMarigoldXmas.

Daisy, can't believe you have mastitis. How you manage to bf is beyond me...

Twins were not able to suck for a while (Jude is still in this phase) so have been expressing bottles. I cannot big up the Medela In Style Pump enough. It is FANTASTIC. I can pump off 2 lots of 150mls in about 5mins. It's so much hassle though, pumping, sterlising etc. I would definitely not be able to keep it up, but shouldn't be for too long now.

I still have moments of panic. Babies struggling to breathe is really horrid, and looking so pale too.... Judo is still on his 'worst day', then if M is anything to go by he will improve after another 3 days or so. She seems pretty much fine now, though still coughing.

ChocO, now you've got me thinking of xmas names for Obs! It's not an easy one, is it? How about: SilentnightOblomovnight! Ha ha ha. If only.

Barbs, the cake shop sounds like SUCH a good idea. I really, really fancy something coconutty.

pmsl at hanapartridgeinapear tree. I love it

Hi merry . Good to hear that M is on the mend, but I'm sorry to hear that J is ill too now , and hope he picks up soon. I hope you're managing to look after yourself.

I've been to the docs and have got antibiotics, but I'm going to wait til tomorrow before starting them and if things are clearing up in the morning then I'm not going to bother. I've also got a viral thing going on (due to crap run-down-ness of my immune system) and have blisters on the roof of my mouth and a raging sore throat.

I need to eat more fresh fruit and veg and less chips and american hard gums and starmix.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 18:52

Thanks rutho......but less of the hugs for my boobs you fraek

I was examining my poor red streaky boobs earlier and DD had climbed up on the sofa next to me (Bumba was on my lap). Next thing I know this little puckered up face was homing in on my nipple, saying "Mmmmmmmm". I managed to get out of her way just in time; don't fancy those teeth much

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 19:15

I got some size 1 tots in the post today. I'm trialling something for them and they sent me 16 nappies to help carry out the trial. I love freebies

good job we got them, as the bimbles I bought won't last much longer sizewise. I swear he had grown in the time it took me to go to the doctors

ChocOrange05 · 05/12/2008 19:31

Hana its gotta be HanaPartridgeinaPearTree!!! Brilliant!

Daisy I am using a nappy laundry service which provides a combo of Tots Bots and Bambinex and I think they are both really good - except for the one currently filled with about a week's worth of poo which M managed to do in 2 hours!!!

Really good to hear the twins are getting better Merry and good to see you on here - Dozy and I were just wondering about you this morning!

Hana whats NAK!?!!?

Ohhh Pinky and Saurus I am going to a xmas party tomorrow and will have my first venture into high heels since forever - I may have to toddle around my living room in them tonight for practice!

I am having my first evening in alone with M - DH has gone to his work xmas do, but I feel ok about it - I bought myself an easy microwave meal in case I don't have time to do anything else but I put M down 10 mins ago and apart from a few feeble crys he's not screaming the house down yet - wish me luck!!!

MonkeyMargot · 05/12/2008 19:45

Tee hee - am loving Chocs suggestion for Hana's new Crimbo name - genius!!!
Some more suggestions:-

MerryM - DingDongMERRILYonHigh Obs - OhOBLOMOVohOBLOMOV (as in OhXmasTreeOhXmasTree .......
Rutho - RUTHOtheRedHAIREDReindeer !!!

Ooh I'm on fire tonight.

Leaky12 - sorry about your Mastitus. Sounds horrendous and I don't know how on earth you're managing to BF with it. You're made of stern stuff woman.

Glad Choc and Dozy had fun today - can't wait to see you all next Friday in Kingston. I will be setting the alarm for 6am in order to be there on time as it takes literally hours to get out the house!

We had a rough night - the Monkey wouldn't go to sleep til 3am, like rutho's. Then the flaming dog started howling at 5am and woke her up so had to feed again. She is now 18 days old - could she be going through a growth spurt? As I literally fed her virtually non-stop last night after a day of plentiful feeding.

We went out on a big shopping adventure to the new Westfield shopping centre in west london today. They have brilliant "family rooms" with private pods with a comfy chair for and soft lighting for feeding. But had to get my norks out later anyhow when we stopped for lunch ourselves and Cecily decided she wanted some more. I was quite discreet about it.
Have now done most my xmas shopping so feeling relieved.
Still haven't assembled my Avent ISIS/IQ breast pump though . Choc - I so wish I had done all this before LO arrived!!

Hana good luck with DH back at work next week - I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of things.

Hello to everyone else - welcome back Sparkle !

misdee · 05/12/2008 19:50

we are using a combo of little lambs and tots bots nappies, with a varity of wraps. so far i still loving the motherease wraps and not fond of of the others. sophie is a chunk amd the small cotton bottom wraps are a bit snug. fortunatly miost of these have been lent to me, as i sold dd3 nappies as i wasnt expecting to have another baby ever again. but am going to invest in some new motherease airflow wraps after xmas, as do prefer them over all others.

sophie is a bit more settled this evening. only crying every 15mins compared to constantly. i think the infacol must be makign a difference already as she has been bringing up her wind easier this evening and rivalling dh with her burps. she is currently laying on her blanket on the floor, spread out like a starfish snoring a little. so am grabbing a few minutes of internet time with two hands lol.

misdee · 05/12/2008 19:57

oh and now she is letting rip at the other end as well. stinky baby!!

MerryMarigold · 05/12/2008 20:06

My sis phoned to tell me she is PREGNANT. Hurray! I am so excited, but not allowed to tell anyone as it's very early days, but I'm sure she won't mind if I tell you lot.

I am liking the Xmas name for me MM! But I think Dozy took Ding Dong Merrily...well something to think about while dear dd has her nightime shenanigans. The other day she was awake midnight to 5am! She is awake a lot in the day too. I am starting to worry about ADHD already .

By the way, think I will refer to mine by their nicknames 'for security purposes'. So my baby girl is called Baby Awissa (what ds1 called her when we first decided her name) and baby boy is called Jude-o Wude-o.

I am using disposable nappies and throwing away rather a lot everyday . But not as many as if they were PSB's as they don't get many nappy changes a day.

And now you first time Mummies...don't worry about putting your baby down while you go to the loo, they will not hold it against you for the rest of their lives...

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 20:11

misdee, the new tots flexi-wraps are really good. I bought some XS ME wraps, but I think Bumba will be too big for them now and I haven't even started with reuseables yet!

how about MerryMistletoe?

Bumba just let off a fart that lasted for over five seconds

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 20:14

congrats for your sister MerryM

twinklingfairy · 05/12/2008 20:25

I just don't think I can keep up with you at all!!
Thanks for the kinds words re my name. I am so glad to be back twinkling for you all, in my own way

oblamov it is so weird to think about that. You forget, when you are dealing with this grunting being, that my little boy just shouldn't be here!

I am having bad moments in the wee small hours, when J just won't take, but insists on this grunting whining anyway. I eventually have to put him down until he gets himself into a frenzy, then he will go on. Soooo upsetting and frustrating!
Then I beat myself up with worries that I love DD more, because hearing her little voice, through the monitor, in the morning is the only thing that stops me going crazy! I am so frightened by the fact that I seem to have so little patience for my little boy. Am I spending enough time with him, or am I popping him to the side, in his beanbag, during the day and spending all my time with DD. Maybe he is not getting enough from me, where are my smiles?
Oh, it is all so silly, I am obviously getting tired and feeling low.
I love my DS, I am tired by him, but it will all get better and even itself out.
Think I will take myself off for a bath and enjoy some me time, leaving daddy to have his turn

twinklingfairy · 05/12/2008 20:28

oh, I want to use my reusables, but DS is just too small and I can't really reason out buying in a whole set of teeny tiny ones
