oh alkar thats awsful. Do they know why he keeps getting such high temps?

at spag hoops- ds hates them (pretty much the only thing he wont eat). I hate them too, when i was small my nan used to buy big (i mean industrail sized) tins of it and decant it into flora tubs and then freese it. it is foul when frozen and deforsted and if you eat it all hols for a large part of your childhood then you get seriuosly sick of it! i probably said i liked it once and that was it, got it for years!

alkar · 29/03/2009 18:04

DS seems much better today. He kept waking up in the night and he was actually cold. He's had clothes on today for the first time since Wednesday! Took him into wigan for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Got some very funny looks when he started screaming (cos the sun was in his eyes) I picked him up from his buggy and all he had on was a t-shirt and linen type trousers no socks!!! I guess I would judge too if I didnt know the whole story.

DS just woken so I'd better go

Re spaghetti hoops they were all I could eat in the first months of pregnancy, just the hoops no toast or anything else

swottybetty · 30/03/2009 12:35

....mmm..... spaghetti hoops. on plastic white bread with salty butter [yum]. tired here. dd still tired and scratchy for large parts of day. trying to have no expectations of her (esp re having a nap) and not stress if we miss stuff. also tired myself seems like even bed at 9pm not enough. then i have these huge two-baby panics and been feeling quite low. wondering if there is a 7 month hormonal surge cause def feeling mental. ho hum. sorry if i am being insenstive to those who are trying for more babies. and 'polgies for moaning rather than catching up....

HI Ladies.
Not much to say. We use cloth nappies which work ok on LO. Sainsbury size 5 own make disposables are inadequate on my 4yo DS, though I realise that's a bit far into the future for you all to worry about, yet.

My baby still hasn't been ill or in hospital.
ME, on the other hand, I just had 5 days in hospital and am still getting used to real life, again. It was a rampant infection of unknown origin. I went in severely dehydrated and vomitting and with a 40 deg. temp that wouldn't go down. The surgeons sharpened their knives over my bed for 2 days before blitzing me with antibiotics. Which worked. We still don't know which part of me was messed up.

So, that's my news!
LO I think he might be quite bright (probably humouring myself) but very clingy and timid. Which gets tiresome. He does not like new experiences like different foods. I reckon he was getting about 75% of his calories off of me before I went into hospital, now we are down to 3-4 feeds/day, suddenly. He has taken it okay, better than I could have hoped. He is eating A LOT more 'food' than before. BFN.

omy · 30/03/2009 19:26

Hi all - I am still out here, just drowning in A level marking and coursework deadlines. UGH.

Of course I am here because I need you all! for reassurance and advice of course! Just reading about little daniel - poor thing! and Rebecca.

I just got a FB (!) message to say that the 2 cousins we saw on the weekend have come out in rashes and temps that the doc says is measles! They have had their MMR jabs, so how could it be measles?

Leila has had a temp since last night and is off her food. no rash yet - but I remember reading here about a 'virus rash'? Perhaps that's what the cousins have - the word measles sends me into a spin and of course leila hasn't had her jab yet - no reminder from the doc about it yet....now feeling guilty that i haven't been pro active about booking her in for it.

lljkk · 30/03/2009 19:32

MMR only offers 95% chance of immunity; 5% of children who have one lot of MMR are not immune.
But your 2 cousins should have quite mild bouts (hopefully for them).
I haven't bothered with the jabs, either (naughty, naughty).

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 31/03/2009 17:10

strawberrycornetto · 31/03/2009 22:13

Hello all. Another long night of work. Just wanted to say hi, I will post properly tomorrow : )

gingermumi · 01/04/2009 12:33

:0 oh omy me too... it's so much worse this year because of the change in spec (what do you teach?). I am sick of chasing up lazy teenagers (at work and home!) and knowing that 'yay- it's easter' feeling but knowing also that that means loads of marking!

LL thats scarey, hope you're recovering now, LO prob clingy cos you were away.

Well ds has chickenpoox, both dds had it (dd2 had it really bad when they were little), so far so good but he will get worse over next few days i expect, is calamine still the thing or is there new wisdom on this?

On subject of dd2 she passed her driving test yesterday so am making her text me everytime she goes anywhere so i know she got there ok... i think i'm getting on her nerves. It was her first time on the motorway today! scarey, scarey stuff

gingermumi · 01/04/2009 12:36

Aw swotty hope you're ok, all sounds normal to me especially at 7 months- you startto get tired again and the impending birth makes all those niggles about coping come into focus. Trust me, it will be ok, you do cope, just don't try to do everything at once! Chin-up old girl- you've got us!

rozzyraspberry · 01/04/2009 20:56

Hi everyone - its been ages since I properly posted on here - its just been so hectic! Not with anything fun or exciting though - just the usual work, mountains of housework (how do we generate so much washing?) and trying to keep 3 small boys (or should that be 4) under control.

Anyway apart from the fact I'm struggling to get used to working again (am shattered) we're all good here. Ds3 started walking properly at exactly 13 months to the day (very strange as he started crawling at exactly 10 months to the day - makes it easier to easier to remember the milestones!). He's now walking all the time and was actually running after ds2 today. He had his final set of jabs today so its good to have that out of the way.

Unfortunately despite having too many plenty of toys he's not interested in any of them. He spends all his time emptying drawers and cupboards then putting things away (in completely the wrong place obviously). When I went into my work bag at work today I found a toy car and a lint roller replacement.

I hope everyone is doing well. Take it easy swotty - just remember that at the end of the day all children really need is to be fed, warm and safe!!

Off to watch the apprentice now. Take care allxx

Gill79 · 01/04/2009 23:13

Hello everyone......sorry to have been away for so long! Have had a quick read through and everyone seems ok...... Nice to "see" you all again. Leesmum - are you getting married? I didn't quite read back far enough. Congrats. Alkar sorry to hear you've got such issues with DS. Nursery staff - hmm. How many bloody times can you say the same thing? HE ONLY NEEDS ONE SLEEP A DAY. Malc normally has a sleep about 2pm but they try and put him down at 9.30 in the morning and then wonder why he won't sleep.

I don't really know why I've suddenly got no time for mumsnet but life just suddenly seems so much busier. Just can't seem to stay on top of things! Plus we've had a lot of illness - am on week 3 of a fluey virus - had to miss the first day of work in my new role and since then have had to struggle through feeling awful as can't take another day off!

DP has just left for a long weekend climbing in Spain. Hence I'm here on mumsnet at 11pm surrounded by mess and dirty dishes

Malc is doing great and is absolutely massive at 2 stone. Developing quite nicely in his range of challenging behaviours - clingy, tearful mummy's boy one minute, throwing himself on the floor screaming the next, and when he's happy stomps round the house shouting at the top of his voice and bashing things . We're having a lot of fun. He's got some welly boots and a few weeks ago we took him for a walk through the woods at my parents and he walked for half an hour in his wellies. I was a very proud mummy!

Right better try and get to bed. Am so bad at going to bed when I'm by myself!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 03/04/2009 12:25

hi all,

how is everyone,

Gill good to hear from you, xxxx

Gill79 · 03/04/2009 21:42

Hi Sarah - thought I'd scared everyone off!

An exciting day here as Malcolm's slide arrived. We got a little tikes one and needless to say he absolutely absolutely loves it. Brownie points for mummy!

Have a good weekend everyone.....

omy · 03/04/2009 22:39

lljjkk!!! 5 days on hospital! You poor thing! Sorry I missed your post on Monday.

Sarah - YAY a walking Rosie!

2 stone Malcolm! Impressive!

I love the tale from Rozzy about putting things back in the wrong places.

Toby has Chicken pox! I hope it is quick and mild!

Leila's temp has gone down but her rash has got worse - she seems fine, just a bit clingy and tired. I have booked her MMR for next week!

Gill - how many days are you doing at work? It is so horrible having to work when you feel ill.

Swotty, I hope you're on a hormonal high!

gingermumi · 04/04/2009 20:33

unfortunately the chicken pox are lingering and increasing by the day - MIL said '3 days coming 3, days going' , well we're on day 5 and still more are appearing had really bad night last night so hoping he will teun corner soon.

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 04/04/2009 22:32

Hello,
nice to read posts from ljkk, gill, rozzy, aklar et al.

I have a question for you all:

How bad is it for babies to drink their bathwater?

What about bathwater with Oilatum in it?

Honestly, I do try and stop DS from doing this, but it seems to be his life's ambition at the moment... he tries to distract me by chucking something out of the bath and then has a long slurp of the bathwater

Gill79 · 04/04/2009 22:53

Probably nothing to worry about Sally! Would suggest a cup of water at bathtime but it suonds like this is naughtiness rather than thirst. Aren't they just such cheeky wee devils.......

strawberrycornetto · 05/04/2009 15:40

Hi all. Am going to try to do a long post so sorry if its too much about me!!

Sally, DS and DD both drink bathwater with oilatum in it. DD is 4 and 1/2 so it doesn't seem to have done her any harm

Ginger, hope the chicken pox are improving.

Swotty, how are you? Hope you've had some time to relax over the weekend. I remember this stage and it was really tiring. I just wanted to sleep on the sofa and DD had other ideas.

Gill, how's the new job going? I always find more time when DH is away too. I can't believe Malc is 2 STONE . DS is still not 20 pounds yet, and he's just had a tummmy bug for a week, which really hasn't helped matters. I think he picked it up swmimming, the first time we have taken him since his pneumonia, which is really annoying! He ended up with terrible nappy rash too. Our local pharmacist gave us a cream to use which helped lots. I managed to lose it over the weekend, so went to boots to replace it and was told its not licenced for under 10's It really worked, but now I'm a bit worried it contained really strong steroids.

Other than evil nappies and projectile vomiting, we're fine here if a bit accident prone. Rozzy, my DS also loves emptying cupboards. Today he emptied my larder cupboard by dropping a glass bottle of vinegar on the tile floor. My whole house now stinks of vinegar [nasty smell face smiley!!]. DD also managed to shut her finger in the car door, luckily its fine but I did panic for a moment when she was shreiking with her finger bent and stuck in the door!!!

Work still horrific, but its the weekend so I am trying not to think about it for another hour.

DS not walking yet - anyone else's? I know he's one of the youngest but he's been cruising well since January so I'm surprised he hasn't tried. I just think he's a bit lazy - he also completely refuses to hold his own beaker. He just wails and points at it and looks at me. In 15 years time he's going to be the lazy teenager sitting on the sofa asking me to wait on him. Sounds a bit like DH and my DB, must be a boy thing....

princessllama · 05/04/2009 21:22

hi all, been ages.
we've just finished with the chicken pox-would you believe either they didn't actually have it in october or they had it twice. ginger hope toby is better soon. my gp said usually 10 days from 1st spot to last crusting over.
gill ferdie is 2 stone too (same as his sister who is 2 and half) have given up my ambition of 2 bike seats on my bike, especially as we live at bottom of hill.
lijk sorry you've had a shocker in hospital.
swotty i mainly posted as read your message-we are really starting to get the benefits of the 15 month gap now. it has been very hard but they are fantastic together now, they play together already alot, wear the same clothes eat the same food, sleep in same room, have same nap times. keep going!
we are addicted to the Wire here-unfortunately me more than dh so am constantly begging him to come and watch another episode.-tragic waste of many evenings
rozzy-v funny bag story. i keep pulling out random pieces of dolls clothing from my handbag.

rozzyraspberry · 06/04/2009 20:59

My older 2 still put bath water in their mouths - even though they all get thrown in the bath together and we keep pointing out that ds3 is quite likely to have wee'ed in it - eugh!!

Interesting you say that about the wire princess - dh has watched them all and is trying to persuade me I should (he has them on box set) but I keep hearing it's a blokey thing - might give it a go though since it's obviously not just guys that like it.

Boys are on easter holidays. Dh is off for 3 weeks and I'm off next week so really looking forward to it

24 beckons...................

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/04/2009 11:23

hi everyone,

how it all going????

happy easter holidays to everyone btw

love the easter emoticons!!!!

omy · 07/04/2009 20:09

Happy Easter all

Strawb - sorry to hear work is so hard. It just is when the kids are small I guess. I am drowning in work too - supposed to have 2 weeks hols but going in everyday! And still I don't see how it will all get done. Never mind we are all well and that's the main thing. Leila is over her spotty virus thing - it lasted 1 week in case anyone gets it. No chicken pox here yet though - everyone else seems to have had it!

Hey Princess - nice to hear your news - so glad your 2 are enjoying each other. You had such a rough ride I will never forget it!

Hey Swotty - I saw the cutest little red headed girl in Westfield the other day - I thought it could have been Esther but her name was Morgan. Hope you are not too shattered - you know you have to spoil yourself loads for the next 6 weeks don't you?

alkar · 09/04/2009 11:41

Not posted for ages!

DS has been doing OK again after his last high temp. No chicken pox yet but its only a matter of time. DS is another bath water drinker and he drinks the water in the swimming pool at waterbabies too

lol at finding things in bags princess, not had that yet but I keep finding my car keys in random places, DSs bookcase, in his shape sorter etc. I really must put them out of his way

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to a long weekend

strawberrycornetto · 09/04/2009 23:47

Hi all. Happy Easter. Just been out for dinner with DH for our 10th wedding anniversary !!! Had a nice dinner and had a good chat about my desire for a third child. Not sure where we got to, but I do at least feel like he listens. I do love my DH [bblsuh]

Hope you are all ok. Any Easter plans?
