Rosie still very snuffly and generally not herself, poor mite, but ok with calpol,

we use TESCO or SAINSBURYS nappies usually, the ones in purple pack and can honestly say not a problem for either of my two, (the green packs are ok but i have found the crystals leak out onto dds bottom at times- so now stick the purple active baby packs) i think the are £6-50 ish for 64 nappies,so cheaper than leading brands too.

have had a lovely day and am on my way out the door to meet my cousin for wine and curry mmmmmmmmmmm - dh is doing chores!!!!!!heehee, i have been and had acrylic nals put on today as my gift for mothers day, however, i booked the appointment, i asked dh for the cahs this am and he said- "oooppps sorry not bin to bank" so i paid for my bloody own mothers day gift!!!!! i am kind of hoping he has been and bought something for me but its not looking very likely!!!!!lol, men hey,

have a wonderful mothers day ladies, cannot belive the year has come round so quick, it only seems like yesterday we were wishing all our first time mummies an happy first mothers day

spk soon

Hello all! have been so busy with work but hopefully will be able to get back a bit more often now.

Sorry you're not so good Egg, you really shouldn't give yourself a hard time, you do a brill job. One toddler's bad enough let alone two and a bigger one! I also give ds two meals a day (not sure why really) he doesn't need it! Then again he's become such a pain at meal times (we end up wearing more than he eats!) that if i give him two meals then at least the law of averages says about one meals-worth will go in!

definitely no babygros here - ds is enormous! (28lb and in size 18-24 month clothes, he's very tall!)not sure they do them big enough. he wears pyjamas and a grobag for bed and jeans etc during the day. Have tried Lidl nappies (£5.50) on recommendation of a friend and they are pretty good but we still need Huggies at night otherwise he's a tad soggy! Find Pamper no use at all, day or night! Same with asda eco nappies.

No real pattern to sleeps, seems to depend what he's doing. I guess he has a sleep mid morning and then sometiems later in the afternoon, he does struggle to keep going til tea some days. 6am is the usual waking time but today it was 5, we ignored him for half an hour but there was no way he would go back to sleep so we gave in and got him up. I do find the early starts difficult sometime but better than I was!

Humididfiers- thoroughly recommend one- we have one for Toby and it's been a godsend, we have the vicks one but we only got that because it was the only one left in argos at the time, i expect they are all pretty much the same.

Well, have a good mother's day! This time last year they were all tiddlers! Wow!

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 22:53

Gingermumi - try superdrug, somerfield or wilkinsons for nighttime. DS is in cloth during the day but wears either of those at night.

gingermumi · 22/03/2009 09:47

Thanks nappyaddict will try morrisons as we have one up the road!

nappyaddict · 22/03/2009 22:50

Do you mean wilkinsons lol.

gingermumi · 23/03/2009 18:44

der i read morrisons for some reason and even went there yesterday and bought some! Am very tired! Will see what these are like too!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 23/03/2009 21:35

ginger i must say i hate morrisons nappies but i have a friend who loves em!!!!!!

hello everyone, hope everything is ok, xxx

strawberrycornetto · 23/03/2009 22:07

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok. Work has been so busy, just horrific, so no time to post. Also been spending my spare time such as it is selling things on ebay to raise money for a climbing frame for DCs.

How is your pregnancy going swotty. One of my colleagues at work has just announced her pregnancy and I find I can hardly look at her I am so and . Since DS turned 1 its just got worse. Will this feeling ever go away?

nappyaddict · 23/03/2009 23:53

strawb - can you not have any more children then is adoption a possibility if you feel that strongly about having another?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 24/03/2009 17:22

just checking in hope everyones ok, xxx

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 24/03/2009 21:40

ooh what has happened to mumsnet? all the posts are squidged into a tiny column on the right hand side of my screen! don't mind tho because alkar is covering up the annoying advert.

hope everyone is well. DS is teething AGAIN. Unless it is incipient chicken pox (its going round at nursery). Anyway hes gone to sleep with the help of Mr Calpol so I'm off to scoot round and do some jobs before bed

Night all

strawberrycornetto · 24/03/2009 23:06

Hi nappy. DH doesn't want anymore

Sally, mine is like it too - its all squished!!

gingermumi · 25/03/2009 08:54

Mine too, but just this thread tho!

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 25/03/2009 21:58

Oh, mumsnet seems to be fixed now.

DS still v grumpy. Am now attributing it to having had MMR last week. Has a bit of a fever as well but only 38 degrees and DH not keen on giving calpol unless really necessary (I'm a bit more gung-ho, as you may be able to tell from yesterday's post!)

alkar · 26/03/2009 07:15

DS is ill again . When I picked him up from nursery he was hot 38.4, but he fitted at 38.2 so that is very hot for him. He was OK at home but a bit wingey. Put him to bed at 7 then he woke up at 10.30 crying but not hot then I went to check on him at 1. He was geting hot again and his breathing was very fast so I brought him downstairs and dosed him up on calpol / ibuprofen. Stayed up til 3.30 then he went back to bed again. He's getting hot again now. Going to take him to nursery because he's fine in himself - just hot. Theres chicken pox going round nursery. Haven't seen any spots on DS yet does anyone know if it can start like this?????

Mini- what did you give the twins when they had chicken pox???

alkar · 26/03/2009 07:17

Just read your post Sally - sounds similar

I have to go get ready for work now. I hate working when I'm this tired, too easy to make a mistake.

miniandme · 26/03/2009 08:57

Alkar it could be chicken pox coming up IME all 5 of my kids had high temps for about 3 days or so then the spots appeared slowly at first then woosh they were covered !!
Its hard when you know they have problems coping with temps eh, my eldest dd had seizures with high temps and i panicked everytime her temp went up, Jack turns blue cause his system doesnt know what to do with the heat and we need to get an ambulance to get him oxygen! .Twins are due jabs this afternoon so not looking forward to that, they are due a catch up booster from 12 mths and supposed to be getting their mmr but we arent having it just now,so can just hear it now from the HV!!!

gingermumi · 26/03/2009 09:37

MMR made Toby off for a few days too. If you're checking for chickenpox check behind the ears and on the neck, they tend to start up there. Definitely the case with dd2. Touchwood we're ok for bugs etc at the mo, i think we had more than our fair share last year and beginning of this year! Hope all LOs feeling better soon

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 26/03/2009 10:51

hi everyone, just wanted to see if you have all had the HV do 8 - 12 months check?

i coontacted them when Rosie was 8 mths and was told it would be done smetime between 8 months and 12 months, still nothing at nearly 14 months, have called twice and left message, cant be arsed to chase them but surely it should have been done!!!!!!! (btw i am not worried about dd at all)

i have not seen my hv since rosie was about 10 weeks, (have seen others at baby clinic but just to be weighed etc) i feel really annoyed at the fact that u dont see them regualr enough- is it any wonder so many children are abused and hurt for a long time before any help arrives etc!!!!!

sorry rant over!!!!lol

Egg · 26/03/2009 12:52

Hello everyone [waves].

Hi Sarah thanks for your FB msg. We are ok DD has been poorly with pseudo measles which we think was after MMR. She was fine until last Monday really (nearly 2 weeks after jabs) and then got all red and dry round eyes (looked like pink sunglasses) and had a temp and was off food and hideously grumpy. Her face got all blotchy and then on Saturday she was covered in a rash and her eyelids were peely and red. Thankfully she was ok again by this Monday.

Alkar and Sally hope your DSs are feeling a bit better now. I would be terrified waiting for another fit Alkar as 38.2 is not that high in the grand scheme of things so you must get really nervous when it starts to climb.

Sarah my DTs had a check at around 8 months. I think I did have to chase them about it but it is definitely standard round here for them to do it.

Hi nappyaddict - we don't use babygros here anymore. DS1 (who is now 3) used to still wear them at night in winter until he was about 2 but we now have so many pairs of PJs for the DTs they tend to wear them (or whatever they were wearing in the day if it is clean enough and not bulky!).

Mini we use Huggies superdry or whatever they are called for all DCs at night. Learnt with DS1 who drinks about 8 pints of milk before bed that they are the only ones that seem to hold enough wee! Also always use a size bigger at night which seems to help (ie DS2 wears 4+ in daytime but 5 at night).

Swotty hope you are not feeling so down this week. I feel a bit better and generally am ok just get brought down very easily when things go wrong and DCs cry too much (they do cry way more than the average baby IMO!).

Think I sounded a bit snobby saying a veg platter was not a proper meal. It could easily be if it had a few other things added to it but considering it had celery and tomato on it which are two things DTs are having problems with and are not currently supposed to eat, it means they basically had cucumber, ch

Egg · 26/03/2009 12:56

oooooooops

pressed post by mistake

anyway they basically had some cucumber, cubes of cheese (that they don't really like and always chew and spit out) and some cheese straws.

Am I also being snobby thinking they should not be fed spaghetti hoops at nursery? Perhaps I should go onto the Am I Being Unreasonable threads. Have discovered that baked beans upset DTs as well anyway so it seems all tomato and tomato based products are OUT. When I collected them on Monday they had fed DTs tuna pasta bake which is a tomato based sauce. They have strict instructions NOT TO FEED THEM BLOODY TOMATOES. I am getting seriously peed off with them. They had beans on toast for tea as well, so twice in one day (had not at that point told them no beans but had mentioned to be wary of them!).

Sorry.

Long and ranty again.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 26/03/2009 13:51

oh EGG- poor REbecca, i am glad she is better,

sorry to hear the nursery are not listening to you, its such a pain isn't it, and you are not at all sounding snobby- at the end of they day they are your babies and u know what is best for them.

bet you were worried about DD with her rash weren't you,

lovely to have you back on here,

hi to everyone else, xxxxx

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 26/03/2009 21:02

Well DS is a bit better today, but still not himself. There is this MaSSIVE sign on the front door at nursery that says effectively "Watch out for chicken pox! We have an outbreak! If your DC has it do not bring them across the threshold under any circs!" Apparently a few of the mums are pregnant and are stressing out in case they get it.

alkar - how is your DS? hope work was ok today. DS had that fast breathing too with his fever. Why do they do that? Don't they hyperventilate? Can you ask your chums in clinical chemistry and see if they know?

strawb - am so sad for you about your DH not wanting another baby. but cheer up... "accidents" do happen

egg - spaghetti hoops! lol. thereby hangs a tale. I too think this is not Proper Food (and this is coming from the person who at university when money was low used to exist on a sole diet of toasted cheese sandwiches). We solved it a few months back by reporting that after having spag hoops, DS had really nasty offensive diarrhoea. Actually we did not make this up. One time they had to change him when he did a dirty nappy after spaghetti hoops and I can tell you they NEVER gave him spag hoops again

They do give DS some random food at nursery I have to say, but I know he can be a picky eater and has got to the stage where he's very choosy about what he has, so I think that's what it is. eg when they describe what they offered him at lunchtime: "Roast Chicken, Broccoli, Swede and Carrot, Roast Potatoes and Gravy, with Jam Sponge, Yoghurt and Raisins for dessert. Ate the raisins."

They also persist in offering him tuna and he NEVER eats it. We are all hoping that eventually, one day, he will.

alkar · 27/03/2009 19:46

Well we have just arrived back home from the hospital.

Got a call yesterday from nursery that DS had fitted again. DH was off work and thats the only reason I went to work because I knew he was close by if Daniels temp went up again. DH decided to go to the gym where his mobile has no reception so nursery couln't get hold of him. I got a call at work to say the ambulance was on its way and the nursery manager would be coming to a/e with him in the ambulance (I work at the hospital so I had to wait there). I was so at DH for not being there for our little boy.

Anyway this all happened about 3pm yesterday we were in a/e for a while then got admitted to the childrens ward. DSs temp was high all night really but they asked if we wanted to go home as there's nothing they can give him that I can't at home. He defo seems happy to be home but is still hot. Its gonna be another long night......

Egg your nursery sounds bad as you can tell from the post, my nursery is great. They never give them anything hey can have - my friends DD has an egg allergy and they are so vigilant with her it really puts your mind at ease.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 28/03/2009 08:47

Oh Alkar, hope Daniel is ok, i too would havce been cross with DH they really dont get - mobile phones(the clue is in the name!!!!lol , my dh is forever leaving his in the van on the desk etc, !!!

Your nursery sounds fab, and they clearly were wonderful with your ds, poor little lad xxx

keep us up dated, on how the lo is xxxxx
