Eah - your poor brother. Hope they are doing as well as can be.
LOl at pebbles on the sofa though!
DJ just poo'd in the bath this evening & I shoved him on the potty saying "no poo in bath" over and over again. Luckily it was just a little pebble also!
Rgee - I think the waiting to potty train P thing is a good idea, as I reckon when baby comes she would return to not using a potty anyway as a form of attention. I believe that happens alot...or so they tell me.
DH - we have tons of cream fluffy bunnies in stock. They are £9.99 I only get 20% discount, so that would be the same as postage really so its not worth me getting it for you unless there is no MC near you, or your local one doesn't have any then obviously I am more than happy to sort you out! Also - be careful with those flapjacks, they are lard ridden! They are the sole reason I am not skinny. (and creme eggs, and fat cheese sandwiches and chips...obviously!)
Raisin - How exciting! This baby is messing with you isn't she! My mum is an asthma nurse, and they can diagnose asthma for definate from 2 years, and as Eah has said, in some cases before too. Especially if there is immediate family members with it. Really push this issue with your surgery. In some cases the Practice Nurse who is the asthma specialist at your surgery may well be more informed and experienced than your GP. I would be inclined to book an appt with her for as soon as the ABs are finished. DJ has never actually had an asthma attack (touch wood) but occasionally gets a very rattly cheat and I made a big fuss to the Dr about having lots of asthma in the family and he gave me an inhaler and child adapter for it just in case.
Right, have to clean up the train carnage in the living room!
Did anyone else catch the new Beverly Hills 90210 on E4 last night? Not as good as the original.
My goodness, there is a freaky woman on Sky3 atm. She is huge and lets her son (who looks lilke a girl) choose what he wants to eat in the supermarket. Shes a total weirdo.

Reggiee · 27/01/2009 19:39

Just turned over to Sky3........

Wilkiepedia · 27/01/2009 19:55

EAH - oh your poor bro and gf? How far along was she? Poor things. Does your nephew have autism?

Raisin - very exciting. Keep us updated.

Lizz - so cute re dinosaur PJs. Lovely that he did that, makes them seem so grown up

Reggie - how are you feeling these days? I agree re potty training, I am not stressing until J is totally ready, he show sporadic interest in the potty but not continuous IYKWIM

Erm, who else has posted?? Sorry if I missed you, have mum here so chatting and typing!

Fingers crossed for tomoz, will let you know tomorow night how it went.

Lizz- Thanks for looking. Will ring our Mothercare. DH asked on Sunday apparently but he was a bit vague about what they said so will just check up! Sending soothing vibes to your back.

Urban- Ooooh! Hope you are ok. xxx

EAH- How sad about your SIL and brother. Hope all is ok with her at the second scan too.

Rgee- I read (in one of the many books about bringing up children I own!) that you should not make any unavoidable changes to lo's life and routine in the 3 months before or after a new baby comes into the house. It is my excuse reason for not attemping to train Luke at night yet. Having started early with Luke I would stongly recomend against it as we had months accidents while friends who had waited said things like 'oh, Johnny trained in3 days, no accidents since'!

Two questions;

  1. Has everyone swapped to semi milk for los now they are turning 2?
  1. Ruth is going through a nightmare bitting phase and me, DH, Luke and Rachel have lots of bruises to prove it. Anyone found anything that helps? Know she is teething and seem to remember Luke being same when he had his big teeth coming through. She is so much worse than him though. Not helped by the fact that she is totally jealous of Luke and Rachel all the time.

In a desparate attempt to help her (and me!) I have just added to my collection of child rearing books one called 'Siblings without Rivalry' which has been really good so far. They have a questionaire in it for parents where the first questions was;

'Imagine that your spouse puts an arm around you and says "I love you so much, and you're so wonderful that I've decided to have another wife just like you' Your reaction...

It is good so far. Hoping that when I stop bfing Rachel it will help as I seem to spend my time sitting and feeding her and that is when they are at their worst. Luke said to me the other day after being told off for the zillionth time for throwing, hitting, shouting, you name it, 'But you are always feeding Rachel'. Fingers crossed anyway

raisingrrrl · 27/01/2009 22:35

DH - have you tried putting aside a favourite book or toy for Ruth and Luke for when you're breastfeeding? Or a DVD? So they know when you're bf-ing they can play/read with their special thing, but that's the only time it comes out? Z's favourite thing ever is his Aquadraw, so I'm hoping I'll be able to bf and play with that at the same time. Must be hard with 2 though! How old is Rachel now?

Well my contractions have now completely stopped, the discharge is stopped and nothing seems to be happening tonight, so as soon as dh gets down from putting Z to sleep I'm going to bed!!

raisingrrrl · 27/01/2009 22:39

Oh, meant to add, Z is still on full fat goat's milk, and has rice milk too. He's such a skinny runt I don't think he's ready to go onto semi skimmed/half fat just yet. But everyone else I know with 2 year olds has moved to semi skimmed!

eandh · 28/01/2009 06:14

WIlkie/PCF - he is having pead assesments at the mo they started in December and nursery have a lady in who spends time 1 to 1 with him, he never could develop eye contact but he is getting better at that you just have to tap him on the shoulder alot to get him to concentrate. He has aspects of autism but the assessor he saw in December said because he made eye contact and can mimic certain things it isnt a clear cut case. However apparently there is a list of 10 behaviours/play that he should be able to do at 3 (he'll be 3 on thursday) and he can only do 2 of them (rotational play as obsesses with anything with wheels and organised play because he lines all his cars up etc) Nursery were the ones that flagged it because of the speech and sensory issues and its taken a while for his Mum to get her head around it all and get the ball rolling to a diagnosis. Oh and wilkiw she was 7 weeks pg

Raisan- pah to it all stopping I wanted a live labour thread

DH - ellie was a biter (Hattie started to till Ellie but her back which I know was wrong but it seemed to stop after that ) it feels so crap doesnt it, I think Raisan had a good idea about special toy/tv/dvd. I read the sibling rivalary book when Hattie was about 7/8 weeks old as Ellie wasnt coping at all and I remember that line you mentioned. I meant to ask is Luke going to be in reception from September/January? We're waiting to find out what school Ellie has got but email won't come till 31st March (I started writing the list of what she needs for school and its huge so am going o get a few bits a month now)

Lizz- are you back in your store now, did you ever find out what had happned at the other store? Are swimming suits in stock yet as both of mine need new ones and I couldnt see any the other week

Ummmm can't remember if anyone else has posted, I'm only up because Hattie fell asleep at 5.40 last night so woke up at 6am this morning, shes watching berenstein bears with a cup of tea and a biscuit

eandh · 28/01/2009 06:16

Forgot to say Hattie been on semi skimmed milk for months just kept forgetting to buy full fat for her and shes so good at eating other dairy products (cheese, yoghurts etc etc) I wasnt to worried, although we do get through 4 pints of milk a day between the 4 of us

Woo hoo only 10 days till me and Laughalot hit Dublin!!!

Lizzzombie · 28/01/2009 08:39

Morning!
DH - DJ bites...alot. Mainly me, but I've had to sign the incident report at nursery 2 or 3 times for it too. Every time I pick him up I dread them telling me he's done it again. I have a nice big 'love bite' on my arm at the moment from him. He mainly seems to do it for two reasons at home. One, as self defence if I am trying to get him to clean his teeth and it turns into a wrestling match or 2 if, he is lunging at me in play, he will do it with his mouth open and go for flesh. I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone at nursery will bite him, then he will stop. He's started slapping too. Great.
Also, DH, I will let you know the sty;e code you need to ask them to check for re. the bunnies.

Eah - Swimming stuff is all in store in our store now. Apparently its swimming lesson season (?!) atm. To be honest though, I think our swimming stuff is really expensive and M&S/Bhs are much better. Unless you want those reusable swimming nappies for H. - which imo are a total waste of time.
My neighbours little boy is borderline autistic. He is 4.6 and doesn't speak hardly at all. He signs everything but he has a one to one teacher at a mainstream school. The nursery he went to (did I post this already?) were charging his parents for 1 to 1 teaching, and claiming it from the council and not even supplying an actual teacher! How outrageous is that?!
Some of Hastings Mothercare staff are basically suspended and being investigated. Its all a bit scarey as MC prosecute staff to the highest level over £ loss. So we are all on tenterhooks waiting. One of my colleagues is transferring over there. Its just all so weird for it to be someone I know to have 'apparently' done something like this.
PCF - The train which pulled us there and back was green (like Emily) and there was another bigger green train there too which they often use (like Henry) plus, our carriages were green on the outside. You could always ring and ask them which train they are using. Its £1 a child during half term. They have the actual Stepney there, which the Thomas & Friends character is based on. But it has no face, obviously as its a real steam train, I was concerned that would freak DJ out a bit. But no! (how trainspottery do I sound! I did so even more when I was there, pointing out different bits of the train to him)- geeky cow!
Rgee - Good news re your glucose test.
Ok, so my back is driving me mental now. I have to drive over to the hospital in Brighton for a 12.45 appt. (20 miles each way for literally a 5 mintute appt!) Really convenient.
Best pull my finger out. Laters! x

Katw3kitts · 28/01/2009 10:15

Full fat milk ?? .... have they changed the guidelines ?? .....or maybe I'm just in my own little world which is more likely.

I thought it was 5 before I changed with the others ie to coincide with starting school. W is such a skinny thing I'm keeping him on the full fat for now. Although he has had the odd amount of semi if we've run out !

Thats such a good analogy for wanting another baby. It really makes you realise what can be going on in their heads. I guess I was lucky in that DD was 3.3 before DS arrived and so there were no rivalry issues, and obviously when DS2 arrived they were long past that stage. You guys are so keen to get LO's ... I was at the 2 year mark before I even thought about it .

How's the contractions now raison ? somehow I dont think you'll be going past your date !

LOL at the pebbles on the sofa, good job you managed to find them all . I find if I catch W eating the rabbit food he gets rather 'hard' in that department too !

I think I freaked my new friend out last week when she discovered I had a nearly 12 year old and DS2 was potty trained, but still she's invited me round to hers next week so maybe she's got over the shock by now.

I agree with waiting till they show signs of readiness up to a point, but sometimes it works when you just to go for it. DD had chicken pox at 19 months and had to be off nursery. She was so sore in her nappy I took it off and she got the hanng of it just like that ... no fuss nothing, and she hadn't been making any signs previously or anything. I think W just wanted to be like his big brother and sister though.

Slapped cheek virus is going round DS1's class. 4 of them are off and we have been told to keep them off if there's any sign of it. I dont think thay have had it before and its only a small class, so whats the betting that when we go skiing next week they all look like this ...

but with smiles !

Wilkiepedia · 28/01/2009 16:48

It's a BLUE one

Thought I would feel a bit weird but TBH I was just so thrilled that everything was OK, and so gobsmacked at the size of its todger that I couldn't care less. Bloody hell, 2 boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back later, mum still here...

OP posts:
eandh · 28/01/2009 16:50

at the todger remark that made me lmao much to E&H's amusement!

Glad it all went well and 2 of same sex rocks!

eandh · 28/01/2009 16:54

bargain pram for any pg people!

eandh · 28/01/2009 17:54

wilkie LTH sends the following message

'Tell her boys are cool (noisy and a weeeeeny bit annoying too). Say hi to everyone again'

raisingrrrl · 28/01/2009 20:49

Wilkie - just think of all the money you'll save by not having to buy pink stuff!! Although, this baby's gonna be head to toe in pale blue! Congrats, i'm glad to hear everything's ok. Xxx

Wilkiepedia · 28/01/2009 21:16

Am I abnormal? J has been having semi-skimmed milk since he was about 16 months... whoops.

Haven't caught up with all of the posts, sorry, I know I am shite.

Raisin - really it is good that everything has stopped, LO could do with baking a touch more. Was Z early? I seem to remember he was.

Anyway, off to bed - am shattered xxxxxx

OP posts:
Lizzzombie · 28/01/2009 21:24

Raisin, just buy a couple of boxes of pink or light purple dye bung all the pale blue clothes into the washing machine with the dye, and it will all come out nice and lilac!

vinorouge · 28/01/2009 21:26

Well I had no idea I was supposed to be swopping to semi milk. DH and I have skimmed so tbh I will prob keep E on full fat until S is 2 cos I can't be doing with 3 types of milk on the go all the time. E is on a real milk thing at the mo, keeps asking for it.

We have only gone for potty training cos E wanted to use it and she has taken to it so well so she was obviously ready. She has a nappy for nap time there and at night, thats enough for now.

Wilkie - glad scan ok. Know what you mean about being glad everything is ok. Were you really anxious beforehand? Did just your mum go with you or was DH there too?

DH - I like the sound of all your parenting books, sounds like you have quite a library.

E&H - wow, school for Ellie in Sept. I forget she is that old already.

Lizz - how was appt about your back? PMSL at 'swimming lesson season'.

Rgee - how's things? You fancy catching up soon?

Raisin - hope you have a good sleep

I have had a lovely day at home today with E&S. Although not really at home as went to a playgrp this morn and a friends this aft.

laughalot · 28/01/2009 21:38

Congrats again wilkie what lovely news.

I am so crap at keeping up at the minute im just so busy with the house I thought when aidan started school I would have more time but I dont feel like that yet. We are having the loft done next week and we need to empty it all . Then im busy next weekend im going to DUBLIN yipee yipee anyone want to join us .

Shimmer · 28/01/2009 23:25

Hi all. I've missed y'all but I am SO BUSY ALL THE TIME I never have time to get on here. Don't anyone start their own business with a toddler to look after and a useless DP, it's just not possible....
Everything's good though and I'm very happy as well as being very busy.

Congratualtions Wilkie!! I'm so jealous! DP and I have had a couple of talks recently about having another one, but we have so much on at the moment it's hard to see how a baby would fit in. (But I still really want one anyway!) Also we're meant to be moving into our new house in May and DP's trying to pursude me to wait until we're settled there before we ttc. But that seems like a loooong time away to me... I'm very impatient!

F's still on full fat milk. Think I'll switch him over now you've said that though as he is becoming a little porker.

He is now FINALLY over his bath phoebia. Some of you might remember I started complaining about him refusing to have a bath about 6 months ago! Well, it has very slowly got better and he now loves his bath and happily sits down and plays and everything. We're going to try swimming when it gets a bit warmer and I was just wondering what to put him in to go to the pool? As in, what clothes? Do those of you with boy babies put them in wetsuit type things? Or just a swim nappy?

raisingrrrl · 29/01/2009 08:04

Shimmer - the pool we go to has an outside bit, so we put Z in trunks and a kind of rash vest (if you've ever been surfing you'll know what I mean!) and then he has a neoprene suit over the top of that. It keeps him nice and warm and gives him a bit of extra buoyancy! He loves swimming, and always did, even when he was going through his non-bath phase. I think it's because he's actually a small puppy!

Lizzz - it's funny you should say about the dye, I managed to dye all the white sleepsuits lilac when I put them in with a top which "gives" the other week!

Well dh is being a massive twat (what else is new) - he just bumbles around the house, making massive amounts of mess and expecting me to tidy up, whilst doing the majority of childcare! For example: last night I came home from a friend's house quite late (with Z), I wasn't very hungry so I just put Z to bed and went to bed pretty much straight after. Dh makes himself something to eat then leaves the dirty dishes (as well as all Z's stuff from the day) for me to wash up. I went into the kitchen this morning and just felt like killing him! Also, he is working late tonight, and tomorrow, and fucking off to Birmingham (for work) on Sunday! We'd better hope this baby doesn't show up before the weekend, eh?

eandh · 29/01/2009 10:27

oh crap I am so tired (am detoxing and having the drained phased) and Hattie just kicked off big style in tesco because I wouldnt let her have some sweets and proceeded to throw herself under neath the checkout conveyor belt, thankfully lovely woman that works there got her out and occupied her whilst I packed and paid and then she walked her to the car (they were very quiet in there today) shes so friggin tired from getting up at 5.30 but will not nap so will be a miserable little sod all day

Lizz - my Mum got the girls some swimming suits in Tesco for £3 each and they are so cute! Lol at swimming lesson season (having just put ellie's name down for swimming lessons )

Raisan - no helpful advice but chin up chuck being pg is almost over!

Kat - oo where ar eyou going skiing, is W going to have a go sounds fab

I really need to clean up downstairs but tbh theres no point they'll wreck it within 30 minutes of Ellie coming home from preschool!
