I dunno Raisin. I remember thinking I was going into labour around Christmas time (so 3 or 4 weeks earlyish, and a good long time before he actually arrived!). Really strong and almost regular tightenings. Had a bath and they disappeared. And once or twice after that. But nothing organised apart from that, just bouts of really quite painful BHs which were a lot worse than first time round. If you're worried you could call your MW, just get checked over then if it's all ok you can relax knowing it's just BHs. This bit is always hardest, thinking it could be any day (esp when you don't want it to be any day because you want a HB!)

raisingrrrl · 17/01/2009 15:07

2Happy - the trouble is my MW is horrible and I'm refusing to see her at all for AN care (awkward sod I am, eh?) so I'd have to either drive over to Aylesbury (which is a half hour drive, potentially with toddler in tow) to see the labour ward MW's or call out one of the community MW's, when there's no guarantee they'd come out and see me.

Might try and get an early appt with GP on Monday morning instead, if things don't change over the weekend.

PCF - hope Max's birthday party goes really well!

2Happy · 17/01/2009 15:23

Ah. My other suggestion was going to be LW

raisingrrrl · 17/01/2009 18:39

LW?!?!

I've just found out that Luke Toulson (aka Captain DJ from Space Pirates) is playing Downstair's at the King's Head in Crouch End at the end of March. Am trying to get dh to book tickets for my birthday treat!

raisingrrrl · 17/01/2009 18:40

LW = labour ward, right? How thick am I?

raisingrrrl · 17/01/2009 19:02

Also - Z had his first haircut today. Before picture and After picture for your enjoyment!

He's growing up too fast!

2Happy · 17/01/2009 19:26

Yes, LW=labour ward!!!
V cute. Does make them look like real boys though, doesn't it. My mil cried when ds's baby curls were cut off

Lizzzombie · 17/01/2009 20:17

Hullo!
Raisin - I hope the BH's are easing off a bit. Not fun. Z's hair cut looks lovely.

Hi to everyone else, hope Max has a good birthday tomorrow PCF.

I am Fking knackered. Was working at Hastings today, bigger store, but smaller stockroom. The management have all been suspended/are off sick something very suspicious going on, so there is lots of staff from all over covering. But the shop is a tip as basically the management who were there didn't really do alot. Eah you would have been in your element in the stockroom. It took me about 2 hours to sort out a 1mx3m section. I ache all over from doing so much physical work!

FIL is here at the moment, putting a new wooden panel side on our bath, looks very snazzy, but my whole house (which I left neat and tidy this morning) is now upside down. DP and his Dad are out for a few drinks. So I am on my own. Sniff.

Got a fab pair of jeans in the sale from NewLook. £25>£11.74! And a big size 14, they are actually baggy on me!
The maternity clothes are shitey in NewLook atm though. I'd not bother if I were you!

Have a good weekend everyone. Am off to make flapjack xxx oink.

Lizzzombie · 17/01/2009 20:40

BTW - Raisin - is your new name from that Tori Amos song?

raisingrrrl · 18/01/2009 10:35

Lizzz - it is indeed from this song - it was the first Tori song I ever heard (it was on TOTP!) and I really love it!

Didn't have you pegged for a Tori fan though?!

Lizzzombie · 18/01/2009 13:41

Raisin - the chorus to that song (where she bets her life it is) is often song around my house. Like to think of myself more as a frosted shreddie type of girl though!

2Happy · 18/01/2009 19:59

Happy birthday Max!
And happy birthday tomorrow Loosh x

eandh · 19/01/2009 07:03

Raisan how are the pains now?

PCF - Did Max have a lovely day?

Lizz - oooo that sounds like my idea of fun

Had a lovely weekend minus the children, the most gorgeous meal round friends house on Saturday night (have got the reciepe so I am going to give it a go this weekend) and he made Jamie Olivers bread and butter pudding which was to die for. I woke up late yesterday to find DH had gone to the gym then we went to town did a bit of shopping (fab bargains in wilkos as 75% off now so stocked up my present box and got a few bits for the girls stockings next year) popped to see dh Nan as its her birthday today and then home to loof about until 5pm when they finally came home

Lizzzombie · 19/01/2009 09:21

Morning!
Well, I am supposed to be making (2*) birthday cakes at the moment, but am on here instead.

Have just ordered DP's niece (its her birthday) big box of chocolates online at M&S and its free delivery! Am very pleased. So big box is only about £12. Bargain!

PCF - What did you get up to yesterday?

Its such a horrible day here I just want to curl up in bed.
Bleurgh. x

Lizzzombie · 19/01/2009 09:22

*one for home & one for nursery.

2Happy · 19/01/2009 14:36

Oh for frick's sake. ds1 has got Bertie the Travelling Bear home from nursery. Some poncy crap where they get a filthy well-loved teddy home and we have to write what ds1 did with him all afternoon.

"Bertie came to Alexander's house, but his Mummy has a stinking cold and is tired and grumpy so Bertie watched Wallace and Grommit on tv all afternoon then went to bed surprisingly early" D'you think that's ok?!

eandh your weekend sounds fantastic!

HI everyone - pains have eased off for now, but I'm really glad this is my last week at work! I've also ripped all my trousers which fitted me, so I've squeezed into a pair of jeans which are too small and I don't think baby likes it!

EanH - of your weekend.

Reggiee · 19/01/2009 19:42

Hi all

Happy birthday Loosh!

Happy belated birthday to Max. Sounds like you had a hectic day PCF.

Raisin glad your pains have gone. Do you think you're bigger this time than last? I remember ripping a pair of my trousers last time - thankfully I was at home and it amused dh no end.

2H sounds like Bertie had a fab time this afternoon. Shame he didn't make a lemsip for A's mummy then tuck her up in bed for an afternoon nap, after feeding her chocolates. Maybe next time.

Lizz been a cold wet dark day here today. Brrr.... Are those cakes done yet? BTW need a good flapjack recipe if you have one to hand. One I can make with the little one - chewy rather than hard flapjack iykwim. Any offers? Just purchased a half price baby annabel from Mothercare for baby to give to pip when he arrives.

Eah sounds like a lovely weekend. I had a quiet one but am starting to feel tired and ridiculously out of breath when walking to the shops a metre away. Hmm...didn't know about the Wilkinson's sale...

Wilkie how was the party? Did you tell your friend about how rubbish WHS was? Remind me when your scan is again....

Am not really hungry but need to eat . Think I'll have a marmite bagel. All but two of us at work hadd the winter vomited bug at the end of last week. Sooo hope I'm not next in line. Laters.

Wilkiepedia · 19/01/2009 20:05

Hello all

Well, I sneezed this morning on the way to work and let out a fair bit of wee so had soggy pants all day. Then I noticed later on that my nipple had leaked through my top leaving a lovely stain (luckily the top was black). Remind me why we do this pg thing again??

Scan is 28th Jan Reggiee.

Lizz - chuck us some cakes this way purhlease....

Raising - glad pains have stopped. IIRC I had false labour pains from about 36 weeks which was most annoying!

2Happy - dare you to write that in Bertie's diary. PMSL.

Vino - where have you got to? Don't tell me you have a RL

EAH - so so jealous of your weekend

PCF - how typical that Max was poorly bless him. How are you feeling? You must be about 24 weeks now?

Belly has expanded to epic proportions - think I am having an elephant. Getting lots more movements. Will hopefully be happier once had scan. I am dying to know if it is pink or blue. I bet the little bugger will have its legs crossed though!!

How bizarre is this. My grandma has two sisters, but her mum died giving birth to their brother and one sister got shipped off to another family (they were very young) as their father couldn't cope. They totally lost contact so haven't spoken for 75 years. Grandma's neice has found the sister's family but sadly the sister passed away this time last year which is such a shame. So I have a whole other side of the family to discover!

OP posts:
eandh · 19/01/2009 20:16

2happy - I used to lie fib when Ellie bought the pre school bear home, but the buggery thing was you had to put a plicture of what you did with teh bear (I cheated and took a photo of Ellie asleep in bed with teh bear )

Rgee - wilkos have loads left - how many weeks are you now?

Lizz - pics of cakes please!

Well we have had some news today I am going to be an auntie again as my brothers gf is pregnany baby due in September

eandh · 19/01/2009 20:17

sorry wilkie but did at your soggy pant story (bet you have a spare pair in your bag now)

vinorouge · 19/01/2009 20:44

I'm here. My RL is only a blur of work and trying to get organised at home. Getting there though! I reckon it will be about 6 weeks before we are into some kind of normality.

Sylvie is doing my head in with weaning as just doesn't open her mouth very well. I was gutted that heinz porridge was the first thing she has gobbled. whats wrong with my purees young lady.

raisin - hope all ok

e&h - congrats

wilkie - pmsl at the wee in pants story

rgee - enjoy your bagel?

pcf - glad max b'day was good. what a good idea to have one family at lunch and the other tea....i might do that another time

trixymalixy · 19/01/2009 22:34

Hi guys,

Got a bit of news to share with you.

I'm the next on to be due in 2009!!!!!

I'm 12+1, due on the 2nd of August. Had my scan this morning.

Definitely not as exciting as first time round as I know what I'm letting myself in for, not looking forward to more sleepless nights. Also probably not the best idea given that I'm being made redundant, but I'm sure it'll work out somehow!!!

Hope you are all doing well.

Glad to see you back UD!

Lizzzombie · 19/01/2009 23:02

I don't know..I finally leave MN for like 5 mins, and suddenly there a ton of posts!

Trixy - let me be the first to congratulate you!
Wilkie - Sorry, but LOL at your wee story. Poor you.
Eah - When will you be an auntie again?
Vino - DJ was a nightmare weaner. In fact I am sure he is the most anorexic baby ever!
PCf - Hope Max is better, well done for doing 2 lots of entertaining in one day!
Rgee - Flapjack recipie will follow, possibly the best in the world!

Presents are wrapped, main birthday cake is made and will be iced in the morning. Tomorrow will be mostly dedicated to Thomas the Tank engine I feel. So pleased my parents are down, my Dad is loving building the traintracks over and over again - the novelty will wear off soon!
Well, this time 2 years ago I was on all fours watching a box set of Star Trek Borg collective (random birthday present from BF!) Watched all 4 dvds back to back whilst waiting for contractions to get closer....how time flies!
