Wilkie - were you a bit nervous about telling work or just relieved cos it means you won;t be doing the job you hate?

My work have invited me for a pre-xmas pizza meal (the 5 others and 2 mgrs who are in my team)...and stressed how they are looking forward to me going back. This is after my mgr and I had an email conversation that ended up with me ringing him in tears saying I was dreading going back. To say dread is maybe wrong, not looking forward to it but hey ho. I like, no, LOVE my house and have to go back to work so we can pay for it!

Lizz - sympathies about the car. Hope you get it sorted.

My oven broke and a man came out to fix it yesterday. Turned out we hadn't reset the clock after a power cut and the oven only works when the clock is set.

HAd a lovely day with a friend and her dd here. Lo's made gingerbread biscuits this morning and then played happily together (a first) for the afternoon. E then fell asleep on my knee watching winnie the pooh.

Both e&s had gunky eyes this week but not conjunctivitis so I guess I should be grateful for that.

Nothing planned for tomorrow. Gonna chill out. Well, maybe try to hoover, clean etc.

vinorouge · 27/11/2008 19:49

dragon - I haven't bought my ss present yet.

vinorouge · 27/11/2008 19:51

Shimmer - where are you? How are things in Lewes? Hope you got some childcare sorted for Freddie yet?(think you said you were having trouble finding some). I thought of you when I was looking in [whispers quietly] Waterstones on Saturday. Am not sure if there is an independent bookshop in Leeds, or if there is one, where it is. I should look and see shouldn't I.

eandh · 28/11/2008 05:51

Lizzzombie · 28/11/2008 06:59

Happy Birthday LAL!
Thirty is the new 20, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Car still dead on the road outside. DP is going to try again on Saturday with his mate and a sledge hammer Local garage (with EXTREMELY fit mechanic ) said if DP couldn't get me it off, he would pop round and do me it for £20. So fingers crossed I've not damaged the actual wheel bearings on the inside.
DP away last night at a mates house, and I was hoping I'd have a nice lie in as he normally wakes LO up in morning with the shower. But no, 5.30am, and up LO wakes. Great.
So I thought I'd be first on her, never gonna beat EAH am I!? We have had breakfast though! x

Wilkiepedia · 28/11/2008 08:44

Liz - maybe you could offer sexual services to the fit mechanic and get it done for free?

Vino - gunky eyes here for J too but he is full of cold and apparantly the gunk in his eyes is just another outlet for the sinuses and snot. Nice eh?!!!

My friend is having a little girl. Aw. Can't wait to find out what we are having. Reg, PCF & Nemo - are you finding out?

Nemo - how did scan go yesterday?

EAH - you would be proud, my Xmas cards are all written, just need to get some photos developed of J to put in certain family cards for the old biddies to admire

J's latest funny saying:

Me: 'Have you done a poo J?'
JJ: 'No poo, just a trump...'

Ha ha ha

Lizz - thats the first time in ages I posted that early and if I had been a bit more with it when Hattie came in I would have realised it was so early and put he rin bed with me (they have both been up and down with coughs all week and last night both slept soundly so I had at loeast 7 hours unbroken sleep and it threw me)

Wilkie - well done, I have done the family ones (bought those cards in poundland 10 for a £1 and they have festive borders and space for a photo so have a cute one of the girls at a party with their faces painted. Done some friends but need to do Ellies preschool friends (pointless exercise as none of them can read and Ellie will write her name in about 4 of them and then get bored) I am going shopping at lunch time to get Hatties birthday pressies and have decided that I am going to book a really small soft play centre in a local leisure centre (ideal for the little ones) I was having 5 of her friends for lunch but because not all the older ones are back at school on the 5th january I need to accomaodate them and cannot face having 5 4year olds as well so soft play is £6 per head including a picnic style lunch. She adores peppa pig so going to get a peppa cake and some peppa plates and dont need to do party bags as the doftplay place gives out a free play session to each child!!!

Am at work at the mo and its very quiet as big boss and branch boss off so I am going to have a lazy surfing on the internet day a little bit of a tidy up but not push myself to strenoulsy (sp??????????)

vinorouge · 28/11/2008 10:52

EAH - Strenuously is the correct spelling! Glad you had a good nights sleep.

Happy birthday LAL!

Am about to sack the hoovering for the moment and head off into town to order a present for my mum for xmas as can't seem to do it on boots website. Going to to walk to the station so I can deliver a couple of things to 2 friends on the way so will be out quite a while but exercise, (cold) fresh air and 3 jobs ticked off the list will be good.

I'm not sure what to do for E's birthday. I want to do something. She has been invited to a party at a scout hut in a couple of weeks and the mum has asked everyone to take a toy with them (the suggestion was a trike, push along toy type thing) I'mguessing that will be the entertainment. I thought that was quite a good idea.

Been filling in Sylvies forms for nursery. She starts in 2 weeks so is going for an hour next week to how she is. I'm sure she'll be fine.

Lizzzombie · 28/11/2008 12:17

Wilkie! I'd be charging more than £20 if I was to do that! - even if he is a fitty!

Wilkiepedia · 28/11/2008 15:31

Vino - ahem E has also been invited to another MORE EXCITING soft play party in January - it is SO hard in January knowing what to do. It's cold and minging so no doing outside activities. Bless J, he is destined to a lifetime of soft play parties or discos...!!

Lizz - I wouldn't charge more than £20 for that if he was a fitty maybe I am just a slut though (Wilkie already knows this so grins some more)

EAH - Thank you for the head pat - ha ha

Just had a sleep for an hour and a half whilst J napped. It was great - went to bed and everything Lazy Wilkie.

Just a quick one to say I am still alllliiiivee (oh and happy birthday Lal - cheers!).

Been a busy week or so. Last weekend lo and I were at Whitby with frWas out at a mums and toddlers iends (and snow, and howling gales, and hailstones that Pip was scared of etc). DH working full on this week so me with full on childcare, plus friends over last night, and am goiong out tonight for a meal with friends (bibis for anyone who needs it). Had my hair coloured last night - first time in years.

Just back from a mums and toddlers virgin vie party today. DH trying to fix our broken tv (think it's a dodgy wire) and I am thinkign about what to wear tonight (def feeling in "fat" stage but still pre preg weight).

Pip being a true toddler today. Such a cheeky minx. Took just under an hour to walk approx 10 metres. Decided to abandon early trip to the local shops unsurprisingly. She is being very possessive about everything too.

Right, much dash. Catch up soon when I might actually reply to posts rather than witter about self!

Lizzzombie · 28/11/2008 17:35

RGEEEEE! Welcome back! Did you buy any virgin vie goodies?

Wilkie - I think it must be because you are Northern and things are much cheaper up there.

Lizzzombie · 28/11/2008 17:36

Also, btw, Secret Santa present has been posted. Polishing halo!

Shimmer · 28/11/2008 21:15

Oh Gosh I haven't even bought my SS pressie yet. Ops. I'll get on to it very soon. Promise. To the person who recives their SS on 23rd December.... that'll be from me!! I haven't bought any presents at all actually. Or written any cards. (I feel like I should apologise to you eah!)

Everything's going well in Lewes. SO SO SO busy with the shop. But it's the end of our first month now and we've got through it! Things are getting done slowly, but there's so much more to do it is a bit overwhelming sometimes. I'm really enjoying it though!!

We've FINALLY pursuded a nursery to let Freddie in in Jan as well, which is a great weight off my mind. It's a REALLY nice nursery as well, so happy about that.

Oh also, I forgot to say before...Congratualtions Wilkie!!

Very chuffed about having my name in thread title btw!! I'd love to be the next one. But we've really got to wait until the shop starts making some money (fingers crossed it will eventually) and we've at least figured out how much it's going to cost and how long it's going to take us to move into the new flat.

Right, off to catch the end of Have I Got News For You and have a chocolate moose now. Yummy.

Dragonhart · 28/11/2008 22:31

Glad all is going well Shimmer. I have not got my ss yet either. Hopefuly get it tom unless Rachel carries on on her feeding fest!

After sleeping all night for ages, she woke up 3 times last night absolutely ravenous and fed for hours each time. Tried to latch onto my face so hungry. Then fed on and off all day. Obviously woke Luke so DH was up and down with him too. So we were all like zombies all day. Amazing how quick you get used to sleeping at night, was only weeks ago I was doing night feeds but feels like ages ago.

Happy Birhtday Laughalot!

Lizz, hope you get it sorted cheaply.

Reggiee · 29/11/2008 19:04

Hi all. FInally a relaxing evening in where I can catch up.
Had a lovely evening out last night with my friends and as a bonus lo didn't wake until 8.15am . Couoldn't belive it - normally a 6.30ish kinda gal. And just when I was feeling at Wilkie's comment of a lie in recently. Anyway, she refused a lunchtime nap, so am hoping she'll have alie in tomorrow instead . Nice dh let me go to bed for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Dragon I am soooo dreading the sleepless nights. I adore my sleep and need 10 hours +, and it hit me hard with Pip.

Shimmer glad things are going well and you have settled in. Great news re the nursery. Do you have an online shop btw?

Lizz I'm so not a smellies / make up gal and my bathroom cabinet extends to bubble bath (which I love) but I had a nice time and was well fed, so felt obliged to buy something. I bought a glitter sort of dusting powder which for all those nights out I have coming up but will be nice for Xmas time. Is the car all sorted now?

Wilkie/Vino no birthday party plans here but then 31 Dec is not the best time to have a party I would guess. I went to a 2nd bday party earlier in the year where it was a big church hall and they had lots of ride on toys etc and it worked really well. Soft play perfect too. My parents only let me have a party for my 6th, 7th, and 8th birthdays and were all the old school style of invite 6 people for musical bumps, pass the parcel etc. Jan is pretty crap tbh.

Wilkie when you take mat leave you can come and help me for all of May I'm finishing mid March as I have 6 weeks hols to take (got sooo much) and mat leave will kick in once bubba is born. Then 9 months paid followed by another 3-4 weeks hols before returning. Only took 8 months with Pip.

Vino can't believe S starts at nursery so soon . And sorry but pmsl about your cooker. That is just the sort of thing I would do! Think there's an independent bookshop in Horsforth - or therer used to be....

I need EaH to nag me. I bought my Xmas cards last January and they're packed in with my Xmas tree, but could do with starting to write them. Also taken some hilarious (well, to me anyway) photos of Pip in various states of Xmas dress and hat that I need to get printed. Just can't be bothered.... so lazy...
Also had SS pressie for ages but again haven't wrapped or sent. Some gentle prodding need perlease.

Pcf how you feeling these days? My tiredness seems to be lifting, but I'm not working so hard so could be life-related rather than pg-related. Still not started thinking of names or worked out if we're going to find out the sex. Scan is 18 Dec when I'll be 22 weeks.

Reggiee · 29/11/2008 19:05

That was boring long wasn't it.

Where's 2H???

Evening

PCF - at midwife appt, I loved hearing the heartbeat

Rgee - go and get those xmas cards, do 10-15 a night then they'll be done in no time, order your prints online quoite often if you sign up to snapfish, photobox etc you get 20 prints free and get wrapping!!!!!!! (saying that I still need to do ellies preschool cards )

Wilkie - of your nap, pmsl at J's 'trump' Hattie seems to think any bodily function is a poo so often says 'mama need poo' when she either wants a wee or fart!

Hattie been very poorly with this cold, took her to out of hours drs and because she has asthma he has told us to use her inhaler more as she is very wheezy (and grumpy) I ended up with her in bed with me last night and she woke at least once an hour wheezing or crying although she did have a 2.5 hour nap this morning.

Laughalot having a fab time, but said hotel is far to posh for them there meal at the gordan ramsays restaurant was fab (10 courses) but she did say it was very cold.

I swore I wasnt going to put decorations up early but homebase had a bargain real tree or £8 (its huuuge) we've never had a real tree before and Ellie deocrated it all by herself (although put far to much stuff on it so have selectively tidied it whilst shes in bed) when camera batteries charge I'll put pictures of her decorating it on profile (Hattie did help at the end but I think she knocked more stuff off than she put on!)

eandh · 29/11/2008 20:17

knew I'd miss some:

Shimmer - it all sounds so exciting, we def have to sort a Jan meet up date as am dying to see the shop

Dragon - hope Rachel gave you a little rest today

Lizz - so whats happening with the car?????

Lizzzombie · 29/11/2008 21:30

Coo-ee!

Hello everyone.
Well, now, this whole thread seems like a dejavous thing atm. Its so surreal hearing you all talk about scans and dates. Its making me feel a bit ...just a tiny tiny bit though!

Eah - £8 tree????? And its real? Thats incredibly cheap. How big is it? DP got my xmas decorations down from the loft this afternoon. I love my xmas decoration box. Its really sad, but when I got back from work I couldn't wait to look through it all. I have no idea where we will put the tree though. I tried moving the living room around but its not going to accommodate anything else unless I chuck out all of DJ's crap toys.

Dragon You made me snort out loud thinking of Rachel latching onto your face!

Wilkie - My darling son was not settling this evening so I went up to check on him. Asked him if he had done a poo...
Me: Have you done a poo?
DJ: No poo poo
Me: Are you sure?
DJ:

(he was lying, he'd done a huge one) it really made me laugh though.
Any type of creaking or squeaking noise is a fart in this house according to him. Its funny at home, but when we are out its a bit embarrassing!

Shimmer - Glad you are busy in the shop, that month has flown by. Do post up a photo of the xmas window!

Right, I;m off to bed, totally shattered. Work was mentally busy and we took £6k or something daft like that. Soooo tiered! x

Lizzzombie · 29/11/2008 21:33

Oh, btw.
DP got the tyre off the car today, eventually.
Its being checked at kwik fit at the moment, to make sure I didn't totally f*ck up the wheel bearings etc. Did you know a bridgestone tyre is £92!!!!! One tyre!!!! Yeah, like we are having one of those!

vinorouge · 29/11/2008 21:34

Hey i wrote my christmas cards last night! Not posted them yet and need to stick some envelopes down (dodgy m&s glue on envelopes).

Shimmer - glad to hear all is going well in the shop. And yeah, if you are online already let us know so we can buy our books from you! Great news about Freddie getting into a nursery too.

E&H I can't believe you've got your tree up already. Sounds like Ellie enjoyed it though. i liked your pic of cinema afternoon on fb.

PCF - think your midwife needs a slap on the wrist. Like E&H I loved hearing the heartbeat, whoever thought that clip clop sound could be so reassuring. Still, you are experienced!

LTH - is your MN name connected to thomas the tank? I often wondered where it came from, then saw thomas for first time recently and there was someone named topham hat on it. Or am i being really wierd??

Lizz - update us on the tyre. I thought of you as I shopped in Mothercare this morning.

Today I also got E some cool boots in Clarks that i thought were quite reasonable at £32. They have fur tops and rubber bits over toes to stop scuffing which works well as her last 2 pairs of shoes have had that. Got her a scarf too as she wore one at my mums the other day and looked soooo cute. Had to buy a hat/scarf/glove set and got home only to fine one glove,so had to go back and swop it.

Tomorrow I am having a houseful. 5 adults, 4 toddlers and Sylvie for sunday lunch. Sylvie will be relegated to the floor while we all enjoy lunch. Doing roast beef, friends bringing pud. Looking forward to it!
