I think the thing is that the quality of your diet can affect the quality of your milk, but even the lowest quality bmilk is better for your baby than formula. That is what I've gathered from what I've read.

I met my local bfc today, she is lovely! I didn't realise this, but the place she teaches AN classes is about a 5 min walk from me! She is teaching on Monday, so I'm going to go along and observe. I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does!

So, is daisy on the news tonight? I may have to miss Hollyoaks on E4 to watch it...dammit!!

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 19:04

Has everyone seen the cheeeeeeep disney dvds on hmv? Seriously bargainous! I am getting dd a portable dvd player for christmas, so have just bought her a little collection of dvds to go with it, including Alice in Wonderful (for obviuosly reasons)!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 19:31

Not on tonights Ch4 news then? A piece about how your baby will grow into a stressed and unhappy adult if you push him or her in a buggy which faces away from you.

That's the offspring of us double buggy pushers fucked then.

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 19:34

That's what I thought foxy. Oh well, I don't really want to talk to my kids anyway, they're boring !

Maybe daisy will be on tomorrow. I'm going to have to watch hollyoaks on e4+1 now.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 19:47

have spent money in HMV now. Thanks Holly.

I suppose I should start the nightly shouting.

"5 minutes, lights off"
"Please can I have that ball. Its quiet time"
"I'm going to take the ball now"
"GIVE ME THE BALL NOW"

"Go and get a banana"
"No, you cannot watch that gross insect programme, its bedtime"
"GET TO YOUR BEDROOM NOW"

"You've just had a wee"
"You've just had milk"
"You've just had a bedtime snack"
"No, its meant to be dark, you cannot have the light on"
"Because you will play"
"BECAUSE YOU NEED TO GO TO SLEEP"

repeat, every night, for the next 12 years

LeakyDAISYcal · 21/11/2008 19:48

No film crew . They had to go and cover a breaking news story and weren't getting to Leeds till 8pm. We decided it was too late for us....and after I had dyed my hair and cut my fringe and tidied the house especially!!

Piece is on the proposed tax cuts and is scheduled for Monday (apparently there is going to be a govt announcement). The reason my doula is featured as she contacted C4 news about it when they abolished the 10p tax band ages ago and they were going to interview her then, but it was cancelled. they contacted her last week and asked if she was still interested in putting her point across.

hello by the way

have been busy with the nipper all day; 3 week growth spurt.

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:01

Sorry daisy, that's rubbish. At least you have a nice tidy house now and beautiful hair!

Sorry for making you spend money foxy! What did you buy?

My ds has just fallen asleep! Hurrah! Dd is still up and asking annoying questions. I think she might have to go to bed now. She is very lovely and everything, but I have had enough for today!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 20:11

Aw Daisy. Are you very disappointed?

I bought the Muppets Christmas carol, Mickey's Christmas thingymigig and Barbie A Christmas Carol (that Charles Dickens classic recreated ) doubled up with the Nutcracker for an extra £2. Santa will be happy of the help

When do you reach the point when you've been decluttering/tidying/finding homes for 'stuff' for weeks. When can you just put things away? Without there still being a mountain of shit/mess everywhere which needs sorting/binning/recycling?

What's the point?

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:15

I gave up long ago foxy. We bought a big square shelf unit thingy from Ikea to put toys in. This thing is fucking massive and works brilliantly until the kids get up, pull all the shelves out, mix all the toys up and spread them throughout the house. I can't walk around atm without treading on toys, but what is the point in tidying? It's just going to get back into the same state by 7.30 tomorrow morning! I need to buy myself some blinkers!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 20:24

I wouldn't mind if it were just the day-to-day tidying to do. I've worked so bloody hard over the last two weeks.

....but thinking about it, today is the first day for a while I've spent time on here... a connection perhaps?

NattyTantrumAndEarAche · 21/11/2008 20:39

evening all
bad day, tom being awful. i dont know whats got into him, i think it might be that his routine is out the window because we cant do the daily load washing machine, empty washing machine, ritual he likes to do first thing with me. [hmmm] or am i giving him excuses? i know SN children need routine, but would the washing machine make the differance? i dunno, im at my wits end

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:41

I've boxed up a load of shit and put it in the loft. Out of sight, out of mind! My house is so full of shit it is unbelievable. Both of us are hoarders and never chuck anything away. Every so often we have a mass clearout, but it barely touches the surface!

My dp is a lazy twunt! He has done nothing since getting sacked. Nothing. Sweet FA. well except watching tv, playing stupid football games on the computer, drinking coffee and eating. He has just taken a clean mug out of the dishwasher and closed it again!!! I'm going to kick him in the nuts if he doesn't get a job soon!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 20:45

Leave him to it Holly. WIth the children, for a day.

How old is Tom now Natty? Could it be a developmental surge? They can be little sods, then come out of it angels.

Did you address his swearing? Or, your DHs swearing

FWIW DP sometimes does it I think to antagonise me. If its infront of the children I tell him off as I would one of the children. And patronise him by telling him he can't be that clever if he can't think of other words The kids seem to understand he is doing wrong (who says humiliation doesn't work!

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:46

It might make a difference natty. I worked in a school once with an autistic girl. She was so well behaved, you wouldn't even have guessed she had any kind of SN...until her routine got changed...then she went crazy. She would smash up the classroom, hit other children and teachers, run around screaming etc. She had to have her routine for the whole day written out for her in the morning and her learning assistant had to be very careful not to change anything through the day. It was hard work, but it worked for her. Maybe you could do the same with Tom if he would understand? Go through with him in the morning what he is going to do today and stick to it. It would be hard work, but might stop the tantrums. Sorry you've had a hard day.

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:47

I tried that foxy, I went to town first thing and came home at lunchtime. They were having a great time, but the house was a shithole and the dcs were still in their pjs!!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 20:50

next time stay out until teatime! I can easily stay in PJs til lunchtime (hard to believe I know

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:50

Dd went through a swearing stage. It was very embarrassing when she said "fucking hell" at my mum! It was our fault though for swearing in front of her (I am as guilty as dp). We didn't make a big deal about it, just told her it isn't a very nice word and daddy/mummy is very naughty for saying it. She now understands which words are naughty and tells us off if we say them! It'll pass.

HollyWeen · 21/11/2008 20:53

If I am at home all day I don't really get dressed. I put on joggers and big cosy jumper. It does sort of look like pjs! There is no way I'd put actual clothes on if I wasn't going out! For some reason though I always make sure the dcs are dressed, I guess it's just part of the routine.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 20:55

Dahlink, I think that is loungewear

Perfectly acceptable!

LeakyDAISYcal · 21/11/2008 20:55

My DH is busy sweeping and washing the kitchen floor by the sounds of it . I have him well trained.

Not too disappointed foxy.....and my hair looks crap and the house is never going to be tidy enough (or decorated enough) for a film crew!

baby needs me.....night all

educatingRia · 21/11/2008 21:06

I have visions of Cinders daisy

Had your DP developed the mood swings yet holly? Maybe that's just mine he has the mood swings of a girl atm.

I am happy-ish. My Park shopping vouchers finally came today (finally they found the £40 of my payments they had lost - see why I wonder "why me"), so that's DHs kids main prezzies sorted (clothes vouchers) and some cash just to buy the tedious prezzies. A relief as I was worried they weren't going to come as nothing ever seems rational here.

sometimes even non-SN kids are buggers if their routine changes natty, so there could be something in it?

Did anyone see Come Dine with Me? DH taped the end, but the bit I saw was funny.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/11/2008 21:13

Well, thats some good news Ria, a wee glimmer in the shite!

My DP goes into moodiness from now until Boxing Day. His birthday is looming and he doesn't enjoy Christmas (for no good reason as far as I can establish). I asked him if he minded us putting the decorations up whilst he was away. He said he'd rather we did. Miserable git.

NattyTantrumAndEarAche · 21/11/2008 21:14

thats exactly what he has been like for about a week now, smashing things up, hittting ppl, tell strangers to go away, have complete hissy fits over small things.

he IS 2 1/2 but he has been like this since he was 9 months, always extremes of emotions, he either love u or hates u. but lately since moving here he had got better. now he is a million times worse, and i am struggling to know what to do with him to be honest. when he had one of his fits he screams until he goes blue, thrashing about, hitting ppl throwing things. and its like he cant hear me, nothing i say or do make any difference. afterwards he tells me he loves me, and the rollercoaster of my day is hard to cope with day on day.. the odd bad day i can deal with, but a whole week of it

NattyTantrumAndEarAche · 21/11/2008 21:17

oh fixed the swearing. cant remember who told me to ignore it, but i just started putting him down or walking away and talking to ellen when he did it saying something like "i like the NICE langauge u use ellen, so im going to talk to you now"
sort of making a point without drawing attention to it ifuswim?
