That's a shame about the casserole Alice!

We've come back and the hosue is freezing. Can't wait for the British Gas man to arrive.

LisaLessLumpy · 25/11/2008 16:19

Blimey Muppet, not a good time to have no heating with this weather, plus two poorly boys. I hope everything gets sorted soon and Ollie gets better soon too.

When I went into Ben in the early hours of this morning, well several times actually but at about 4am it was 12 degrees on his monitor I can't imagine having no heating.

Ben is going to be an adventurer I think, he has no fear, he hurls himself off the top stair into my arms, climbs on anything, loves being swung upside down and whizzed round, Sam otoh is a complete scaredy cat

alice - gutting about the casserole, but were your fish fingers good? , I have done that before too, defrosted what I thought were sausages for sunday brekkie turns out they were pork steaks . Our fridge is empty too, looks like its internet shopping night tonight

Well I have booked the boys in for a photo shoot on the 5th Dec with pixifoto in the local Mothercare store, hopefully get some good ones of the pair of them for Xmas pressies Also I have now finished all the xmas shopping for all the kids, now only have the PiL and grandparents left oh and all the wrapping, its going to take me ages

Stefka · 25/11/2008 17:50

Poor you muppet - it's bloody freezing!! I hope they get it sorted asap. My gran is without heat at the moment which I think it is totally disgusting. She has a little heater but she's in her eighties for crying out loud.

Hope you have better luck with your tea Alice!

muppetgirl · 25/11/2008 18:11

Well he came said out fan had now broken since his visit yesterday and he's ordered the part and it will be fitted tomorrow so we're still bloody freezing. Henry is going to have to go to bed in his jumper I think (plus growbag plus blanket after balnket) Ollie is better as he has the sense to keep the blankets on! We have just borrowed a heater from out neighbour but it shorted out the electrics even after a fuse change and plugging it straight into the mains (and not an extension)

Arrrggghhhhhh to say the least

FloriaTosca · 25/11/2008 18:33

Oh Lord! If what they are getting up to at the moment is a prediction of their future Alex is going to be an anarchist!!!!!I shall just hope I can temper his tendancies to merely being a demolition expert!!!

J2O · 25/11/2008 18:43

Oooh Muppet, poor you! you'll all have to cuddle up in bed together

Alice-what a shame that you're missing the last week of the job, is there noone that can stay with him? mind you, he probably just wants his mummy. sorry, but sniggered at the casserole...fish fingers are the best anyway Hows Choc-have you heard form her?

LES, stefka, LLL and everone else-how are you all doing?

FT-Hows the kitchen and your poor fingers? lol at Alex, i reckon Shannons going to be a dentist-first she headbutts you to loosen them, then she gets her fingers right in your mouth to give them a good pull!

well, what a night last night, was trying to have a nice chat with Vaunda, my friend rung on the other line, drunk, her gf had kicked her out and she was in the middle of nowhere, Rich was on the phone with his Mum trying to sort stuff out and she was crying cos she feels like shes caused all this trouble and then my mum texts me, wanting to know if i could speak to my cousins to try and get my uncles and her together so the can bury a 8 year hatchet and Shannon starts crying because of her nasty teeth!! on top of all that, i had my revision work all over the table, trying to have quick looks at it, and it was just impossible, anyway, exam seemed to go not too bad[hopefully]

love to all xx

muppetgirl · 25/11/2008 18:49

Have to say Floria that Ollie was an angry intense baby who was so frustrated with his own limitations. He then went on to being a climber and excellent problem solver escaping his room quite a few times. He is now considered thinker who likes to question you as to why he has to do things, is still highly strung and is happy to tell you ( in an annoyingly polite way) that he disagrees with you. I think personality develops very early which is very interesting to see Henry who is very laid back and nothing at all like Ollie.

FloriaTosca · 25/11/2008 19:52

Alice; sorry but,lol at the gravy casserole Hope the sickness was only temporary and you benefitted from the extra time in bed.

Muppet; deep sympathy on the lack of heating, it always happens when it is most needed .. it is worrying especially with los...good luck with the layering of clothing..a local mum had the same prob last year when her lo was 9mths and ended up with the lo in their room in the prams cosytoes because it was the warmest covering she had...wish you lived closer I'd bring our oil filled radiator round (which wouldnt blow the 'lecs ).
Facinating to watch characters develop isnt it?...sounds like Alex is going to be a bit like your Ollie as he is already climbing and working out how many toys he has to pile up and climb to reach the remotes we have put out of his reach

Right it is his bedtime now...I'll try to get back later
J20, thanks for asking about sleep..its gone back to the old twice a night (12.30ish and 3.30ish)for 30 mins so not too badI'm glad the exam seemed to go ok, fingers crossed for a good result.
..really must get him to bed now!

HeinzSight · 25/11/2008 21:55

Just popping in to say hi. Been a busy few days. Will catch up properly soon x x

Stefka · 26/11/2008 08:32

Hi Heinz - hope all is well.

Hope the exam went well J20

Dareh has his MMR today and I am dreading it. Stupidly did a search on here and read all the horror stories. Very silly thing to do.

Dareh went to get his ball when I asked him to this morning! Know a lot of your LO's are already doing stuff like that but I was very excited!

muppetgirl · 26/11/2008 13:42

Hi all

WE HAVE HEATING HERE FINALLY!!!!

We were a bit worried about Henry last night as despite wearing a jumper, growbag and 2 blankets folder over he was still cold so we bought him down with us and gave him some warm milk. We put the only radiator in his room which I then worried about him boiling!!

They came at lunch time so the house should be warm when Ollie gets home.

I got 81% in my first assignment so I can bore you all with the 3 theories of identity but it's the biological perspective next and I'm a bit thick at science so that should be interesting!

Stefka - well done Dareh! Henry isn't doing anything like that x

alicet · 26/11/2008 13:48

Lisa yes the fishfingers were yummy thanks!!! Definately better than gravy anyway Hope photo go well - we've done the same with a friend of a friend

Muppet hope the man has come with the relevant part and the heating is back on!

J2O it's not the whole week I'm missing, just yesterday as I don't work on Wed or Thurs anyway. He is fine now thanks! And glad to hear exam went well despite everyones best efforts while you were trying to revise! Haven't seen Choc since R's party but have exchanged a couple of texts. Think life is treating her OK though.

Floria glad to hear that the sleeping has calmed down again. I think from the sounds of it Alex is far too busy and curious to be bothered with boring things like sleep!

Stefka hope MMR goes OK... Adam has his next week. Sure he will be fine. Adam als went and got his shoes yesterday when I asked really cool isn't it? He keeps trying to put them on his feet and everyone elses onto their feet too although he doesnt manage! Remember Sam doing the obsession with shoes thing too! Very cute.

Stefka · 26/11/2008 17:17

He is fine. He was over it in thirty seconds. It was me who was the cry baby!

TheLadyEvenstar · 26/11/2008 19:37

LOOK WHAT A CLEVER GIRL I AM I MADE THIS!!!

Mine · 26/11/2008 19:58

LES..... i can;t work out what its supposed to be [blush}
I am a bit of a doughnut most of the time!

Muppett - great news on getting the heating fixed. not sure what i would do without ours... i hate cold weather so ours is on practically all bloomin day!

Stefka / LLL you both have such clever little boys Eren can;t do anything like that yet

I had a nice day off work today. Cleaned the house (ok, not very exciting), then took Eren to soft play with another MN friend, then cooked a gorgeous dinner. Now i just want Eren to go top sleep so i can catch up on Heros and eat popcorn

TheLadyEvenstar · 26/11/2008 20:11

lmao Mine no worries, It is a nappy. I use cloth nappies and i just made that one!

He's totally fine. Been his usual monkey self. I think it doesn't kick in for a week though. I guess I thought if he got measles and died I would never forgive myself. It's hard though when you read personal accounts.

DH wants another baby!! I do too but just don't feel sure that we should do it right now. If we were more stable financially it would help. Also I wonder if I should at least try and establish some kind of career because the last break seems to have thrown it totally off track. Or maybe I should just sod the career and be a mummy - but then what will I do when they go to school and do I really want to spend the next however many years with no money at all? Also I am not sure I am well enough yet. My dietitian is much happier with my weight now (I'm bloody not but I know my thinking is not right) but my periods haven't come back yet. It's not the first time they have disappeared but I have usually managed to get them back in the past. Could be the breast feeding though. Finally I am actually scared of giving birth again - it was such a shock the last time!

Ha that was a ramble and a half!

Love the nappy Les! I admire you for using cloth nappies. I use the naturecare ones which is my attempt at being more environmentally friendly.

Inzi; Alex had his MMR at the beginning of October,...I can't deny that I went in convinced I was doing the right thing and then after the deed worried myself sick in case I hadn't...but he just had a few "off" days at intervals for a couple of weeks afterwards but no noticable personality change whatsoever, and believe me I was watching for one!.. (he has always been a terrorist in the making) The single dose measles gave me a bad reaction as a baby (a neighbour 2wks older than me got measles at the same time and was apparently considerably less poorly than I was)but the single dose vaccines were nowhere near as well tested at the mmr...I really wouldnt worry..but that is easy to say..isnt it?

Dalrymps · 26/11/2008 23:33

Just popping in to say...

Inzi - Dylan had his MMR almost 2 weeks ago, has been totally fine and absolutely his normal self since. The nurse warned that as it's a 'live' vaccine he might get a fever a week later but he didn't even get that. HTH
