Hi Marla, Elliot sounds wonderful! I talk about my boys and use thier names here on this thread but not others. I feel comfy here!

I'm in Swindon but know Reading well as I was born in Berks and went to Uni in Reading so are happy to meet up

SO far I have met
Alice, Floria, WWAJC, Appricot and crochet and they are all lovely x

StefkaSnowAngel · 31/12/2008 15:01

Wow muppet! I've not met anyone from here!

I would say names on this thread is fine, it's a nice group and I can't imagine anyone else bothering to read it.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 31/12/2008 15:09

I wonder if we COULD arrange a meet in the middle somewhere???? for me it would have to be a weekend or a school holiday what with Karl in school.

BUT it would be great to meet everyone!!!!

TLESinChristmasStockings · 31/12/2008 15:11

Meant to tell you all I have been a bit down last few days as I thought I was pg again but my period turned up with a vengence!!! was so so upset even though i had said i didn't want to be...dp was all for it!!! lol but i am not so hmmmmmm i can have more fun practising lmao xx

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 31/12/2008 15:39

J2O - glad you had fun at the play centre. Cost sounds only a bit more than the one FT and I are planning to go to soon - they are £3.50 per child (only under-12mo get in free) but adults are free, although it's only polite then to buy drinks at least from the cafe. Not something you'd do every day but nice for a treat.

No plans for tonight - we went out for a really nice pub lunch instead. Anya ate more than me or dh I think! Then while we had desserts she walked about 3 laps of the pub - that's the first time she's chosen to walk rather than crawl in public for any length of time.

Muppet - pyjama party sounds wonderful - will earmark that for future years . Anya's doing exactly the same with her teeth - she has 5 at the front - 2 bottom and 3 top, then there's a gap and then one of her molars is half through .

Alice - dh has already had his hernia done once a couple of years ago, so it's already come back! Last time they did open surgery though and this time will be keyhole, so faster recovery - a friend of his who had it done only had to take 2 weeks off work, and he's a rural vet so lots of heavy lifting! Will wait and see what the consultant says after the op, but will make sure that dh does as he's told. Enjoy the rest of your time with your sis - glad you've got a few extra days.

LLL - lol at Ben starting the washing machine. Loving the photos - the nativity ones are gorgeous.

FT - your meal tonight sounds amazing. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Sunny - hope your dc's are feeling better - hopefully it's just a 24 hours thing (though that can feel like a very long time!)

Also wanted to say woohoo for Ellie Simmonds! . She's the 13yo (now 14) with achondroplasia who won 2 golds swimming at the paralympics. She's got an MBE in the new year's honours list and she won young sports personality of the year earlier this month. I am so thrilled that there's someone I can point to as a role model for Anya as she grows up .

Hope everybody enjoys their new year whatever they are doing. Probably won't be back on before tomorrow so
Happy New Year everybody - hope 2009 is a wonderful year for us all.

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 31/12/2008 15:49

Marla - x-posted. Have no problem putting Anya's name up - all the ladies on this thread are lovely and I've met several so I trust them, and it's not really anything that could identify me to a complete stranger. I know what you mean when you say Elliot's been happier since he could point. Anya was a nightmare as a little baby - screamed all the time, as some on here who met us in York that first time can testify! Each time she's hit a milestone (rolling/crawling/walking) she seems to get happier - think it's something to do with her having some control over her life and surroundings.

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 31/12/2008 16:10

WOW You lot have certainly been busy ? so much so, I?m having to do one of my famous word doc posts!

Mine ? your new year party sounds lovely ? I know it?s bizarre, but until you said how you pronounce your name the other day, I was calling you (in my head) mine as in coal mine!
Have a lovely time!

Stefka ? I have to say, that one of the things that made doing the birthday pressie thing for Dareh was that it made me feel good ? so not totally altruistic and selfless. I know as well, that if it was me in the same situation, you would have done exactly the same.

Inzi ? it?s really nice to hear how all the Los are doing ? I?d forgotten you were a fellow hyperemesis sufferer ? being pg seems like aeons ago!

Alice ? have a lovely New Year with your folks ? sounds really cosy! Glad that all the others are better now! I?m back to work on 4th Jan as well

Strawberry ? I?ve been meaning to say every time I?ve posted that I was so sorry to hear about your nan, but I am so glad that it was a peaceful passing.

Dal ? hate to tell you, but as Chicken pox has a minimum of 14 days incubation, then if Dylan?s going to get it, then he?s already got it! On a brighter note, if he isn?t exposed already, and he catches today, then it means that he shouldn?t come down with it until you?re at least home! Have a lovely new year whatever you decide to do!

SleepMeNot ? just hoping that 2009 becomes the year of incredibly good sleep! Enjoy your carpet picnic.

Muppetgirl ? woo hoo Henry?s sitting up! He?ll be scaling the bookcase before you know it!
Hope you were successful with the pants!
Rhydian keeps running out of the bathroom at bath time (before he gets in), and waggling his willy at me ? it?s too funny a site for me to be cross. However, he came in all worried yesterday as he?s developed a mole on his scrotum ? I had to examine it very closely before pronouncing it normal.

FT ? your New Year banquet sounds delicious ? I shall have to gatecrash your party and Mine?s!

LLL ? hope you have a good time at the play centre. You?re photos are gorgeous ? you have 2 beautiful boys! I can?t believe how alike they are!

Sunnytimer ? lovely to see you back ? hope the D&V passes quickly ? and, more importantly that you don?t get it! Happy New Year!

Marla ? lovely to see you back too ? your posts are a bit like mine ? !
When I had Rhydian, I found the isolation horrendous when I was off on maternity leave with him: I couldn?t wait to get back to work ? I was like you, and I was the first of my friends to have a baby. I?ve found that now he?s started school, even though I?m working full-time, that I?ve got to know a few of the mums, and when I was off on maternity leave with Mairwen (for a whole year!), I got to know a lot more people around my immediate area ? and was off on maternity leave as the same time as somebody else with a child in R?s class! My experience of being a mum was poles apart this time from last time.
I know where you?re coming from on the names of children thing ? the only place I mention them openly is on this thread, as we?re fairly tucked away here, and given that I?m on facebook, and I write a blog too (and Ravelry ? a sort of facebook for yarnies), then my details are out there!
I?ve done BLW with Mairwen too ? I?m crediting it with her being a much better eater than Rhydian ever was ? from about 11 months ? about the age of 2, all he would eat was yogurt and peas ? I just rolled with it! ? I think though that it?s like sleep, it?s very much the luck of the draw!
The local MN boards do tend to be quiet ? I know muppetgirl is in Swindon ? that?s not too far from Reading is it? I?m in South Wales, just south of Cardiff.

tLES ? I got my period on Monday ? I have never been so relieved! Would love to organise a meet up ? perhaps a camping weekend in the summer somewhere in the Cotswolds?

WWAJC - I didn't realise Ellie Simmonds had acondroplasia - I cried when I saw her interviews in the summer! What a fabulous role model for Anya!

We?ve been into Cardiff today to go shopping ? I went to change my unsuitable Christmas presents, so although I bought a lotm I?ve not actually spent much (of my money, anyway!)

Phew, another monster post over and done with!

Hiya to anybody I haven't mentioned!

Happy New Year to everybody !

Lots of love,

E x

TLESinChristmasStockings · 31/12/2008 16:20

Camping would be great....can i book a hotel away from the spiders???????

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 31/12/2008 16:47

... wuss!

Mine · 31/12/2008 16:47

Just a quick one before i go to my mum's for the festive feast.. i really wish you guys could come. I actually wish that in the New year we could all get together and meet in RL.. inc Marla and Sunny!!

Anyway, in case i can;t get on later... I wish you all a happy, peaceful night full of food, love and kisses from DHs at midnight

Happy New year lovely ladies!!! You guys are the best
xxxxxx

SleepMeNot · 31/12/2008 16:55

Crochet - sorry, PMSL at the image of Rhydian wiggling his willy at you! He sounds so cute.

TLES, for some reason I thought you were TTC? I must have got muddled up. Anyway does that mean you are now TTC?

Marla, nice to hear about Elliot - he sounds gorgeous. And I can't say we're all totally normal but we're definitely nice!! I've met WWAJC, Floria, Lisa, J20 and Alicet - Alicet lots of times in fact as we live near each other.

Glad everyone else is having as lowkey a night as us and we're not antisocial freaks. Actually tbh I probably will be up doing the Auld Lang Syne as we're often up at midnight watching Teletubbies/reading endless books/coaxing DD back to bed. (I am not using her name at the moment because I had a real life stalker, well not a stalker, but a colleague who started reading me here under a different name. I found that a bit uncomfortable. I've changed my name and everyone here knows my DD's name but I'm not going to type it for a while till I'm sure I've shaken off nosy colleague with my crafty namechanging...).

Muppet, you might be starting that pajama party as I write - hope DH gets there - it sounds like loads of fun! Hope Ollie enjoys it.

Floria, I'm coming to you for NYE next year too. Can we all come??? and have a pajama party and your lovely food??!?

SleepMeNot · 31/12/2008 16:56

Mine- x posted - I agree would be great to all meet, and I vote for a New Year feast at Floria's!!!

J2O · 31/12/2008 17:40

Just the quickiest quicky ever as we are on our way to my friends..we're planning on putting all the clocks forward 2 hours so the kids think they've seen new year in at 12 when its really 10

I hope you all have a lovely evening and here's to the next year of friendship with you lovely ladies xxxx

LisaLessLumpy · 31/12/2008 17:50

Will someone have Ben for me... please?

He is doing my nut in today, screams when I leave the room, wants picking up all the time generally whining constantly I'll be glad when he is in bed! This one is going to be trouble, I can just tell. He started off so well too, better than Sam was and he is a golden child 99% of the time. I think I have the terrible two's incredibly early!

It's just a phase... it's just a phase.. it's just a phase

I hope all you lovely ladies have a fab evening whatever you are doing, I am doing a simple supper of steak and salad and we have already cracked open a bottle of fizz, I blinkin need it today. I must also get back on my diet tomorrow, I have been a complete pig the last month and I have put on at least half a stone, I feel a right fat heffer again

aaarrgghhh!! he screams again, gotta go.

LisaLessLumpy · 31/12/2008 17:51

Oh and yes please to a meet up in the New Year, without kids please

I passed my test a couple of years ago and I still don't go on moterways!!

J20 - sneaky - I like it!

We are just having a bit of pasta because I don't want to cook and I love pasta. I wish I had thought to get something fizzy but it will just be a bit of red vino for us.

We would like to start TTC soon, although I need my period to show up first. I am a little worried about our circumstances but then you could be waiting forever if you thought like that.

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 31/12/2008 20:29

aaaarrrggghhh.....I cant do it.......I have tried......there is no way I can catch up with this lot!!! its just taken me ages to read, I dont know where to start

We are TTC but only came of the pill November and I am all over the place with AF so its not easy just now, I would like the chance to shed some of the xmas food weight first as well !!!!!

LLL - I completely understand, Jane went through a period of 2 months like this just sooooo whingey, it was driving me insane, she seems to be through it now (cross fingers!) I hope it gets better soon. I love her but I love when she goes to bed at night and can finally have a glass of wine and switch off!!! I think I did say before but if not, I love your photos the boys are soooooooo cute!!!

J20 - good plan!!! but the adults will have to whisper happy new year at the correct time, incase they wake up lol!!

crochet - how do you manage those posts, I am in awe!!!

LES - sorry you were feeling low about it....so are you going to TTC?

marla - I tell the lovely ladies on this anything including my DD name, in fact I probably share more on here than I ever would in RL. Elliot sounds wonderful, Jane has also just passed a really difficult whingey phase, our mantra...its just a phase....it will pass came in very handy...a lot of the time!!!

OH muppet poor Dex, I hope the ramp works, other ideas I have had are a step stool or anything sort of box shaped and sturdy, might be easier for you rather than having to pull a ramp out, would something like http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/pet/pet-steps-dog-stairs-petgear.htm this work?

Sunny - sorry to hear about the D+V hope it clears up soon

floria - I really really want to be at yours, that meal sounds fab!!!!!!

Dal - hope he doesnt catch chickenpox fingers crossed

Alicet - wonderful news, have a lovely time

sleepmenot - I have to be careful not to slip, I am always tempted to use your previous identity!!!!

RIGHT, thats all I can remember, so so sorry if I missed anyone, which I am sure I have!!

I have my DH for 5 days we made the mistake of going to Asda today! the shelves were bare no bread/rolls, potatoes, sour cream, quorn roasts....pretty much nothing left that we went on for so tomorrow we are having....fajitas!!! very traditional I think !! We are having a quiet night, all our friends are couples/singles but we are only the only ones with a child.......in the group we used to go out with as young twenty somethings DH and I are the only ones that made it...there are 4 seperations/divorces!!!!!! thankfully no children involved. So all our friends are out partying the new year!!! I am a bit although I did enough partying to last anyone a lifetime!!!!! still, feel a bit like everyones at the school disco and I am grounded . I will wait up for the bells, but just a normal night for us and cringeworthy Scottish telly celebrations!!

have a wonderful new year ladies, whatever your doing

XX

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 31/12/2008 20:31

sorry muppet link didnt workthis

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 31/12/2008 23:26

Just popping in, have been washing and packing like mad all day!

Will try to catch up properly when I get back from p'boro, promise!

On a good note, I sent my parents an xmas card with my phone number in (after us not speaking for 3 years mainly due to mu mums nastiness) and they got in touch. I told them about Dylan and they are thrilled but sad they missed 14mo of his life, we're trying to move forward with the relationship (slowly) and hope to be in touch so that they can see Dylan. Going to arrage a meet up soon for them to see him for the first time. I emailed them pics and they sent me some of my baby photo's (that I haven't seen for years and dearly wanted to see) and I am so happy to see how much he looks like me as a baby . The pics are on facebook if anyone fancies a look.

Anyway, all thats left for me to say is...

HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Back sunday, hope you all have a good one x x x x x x x x x
