Hi j20 , sounds like a fun albeit costly afternoon!

We're doing nothing tomorrow, dh is working till the afternoon (which mean he'll be home normal time ) Still, he's self employed so I can't really complain and he does worry about money...Then Ollie said he would like a pyjama party so it's new pj's for all, party food in the living room and hopefully a good film on telluy. Dh and I won;t stay up -we never do as I feel I've done all the new year celebrating in my teens -on a bridge in London, under the houses of parliament for millenium, friends parties etc. It doesn't feel such a big deal anymore plus Ollie will get us up at 6.30am anyway.

Talking of teeth, Henry has 2 new ones (not getting competitative ) which are the ones a step away from the four at the top which means he has a big gap -is this normal? I seem to remember Ollie just getting them in pairs one by one. At least they've arrived as we have been expecting them for weeks now with the bright red rosy cheeks, dripping nose and hands stuffed in his mouth. That now makes 12 teeth. Just tidying and clearing up dinner -kidneys in red wine. I stupidly added beetroot and the gravey went pink much to Ollie's disgust. Needless to say Henry couldn't give a monkey's and still ate it.

Strting to feel puffy around the middle though I've not put any weight on since I stopped loosing weight iyswim. I am very thirsty all the time despite downing copious amounts of water and dizzy in the mornings but at least I'm not sick. Every cloud and all that

Alice - so sorry you're still ill and not managed to get time with your sister. Roll on August xxxx

WWAJC - at the Trafford Centre and again. I think you're both brave and a marvel for even attempting it!

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 30/12/2008 18:54

Afternoon all - went for a lovely walk this afternoon in the woods down in Dians Powys - we kicked leaves, and picked sheets of ice out of ponds!

j20 - I'd be ay paying £20 for a couple of hours out ... there's a new play centre opened up down the road from us, but they charge all over 1s £5.50 ... - I don't have to pay, but, as you say, by the time you've got drinks, and snacks, than that's bye to £20!

muppet - I like the idea of a pajama party for new year - we're probably just going over to the neighbour's house for a coiple of drinks - we'll be in bed by 12.30am! Like you, I've done quite enough celebrating ... we were at the Millennium Stadium for the 2000 celebrations - it was a great night!

I'm glad it arrived too ... cryptic

alice - lovely to see you back!

wwajc - hope dh's op goes ok ...

right, my call has come - off to do bedtime ... may catch up with you later!

love to all thise I haven't mentioned!

J2O · 30/12/2008 19:03

muppet-i have no idea about teeth, can't remember with dd1, oh, while we're still on the subject of teeth, dd1 has got a big gap between her top and bottom teeth from sucking her thumb, grrrr, been trying to find some nail biting stuff to pourinhermouth paint on the offending nail to try and stop it.

Crochet-i wouldn't have minded paying for dd1 and even myself but that much for babies is just soooo greedy, apparantly you have to pay for 6 months or over as they have the toddler area( woman pointed out) oh yeahhhhhhh, because lots of 7 and 8 month olds are climbing up and coming down slides and climbing in the ball pool that has a 2 foot bar you have to climb over first and use £4 worth of equipment!!

well Shanon is walking round playing on her recorder (another dd1 copycat game) with her tights round her ankles so i am going to get her PJs on and her bottle down her, then i'll have time to eatchocolateandplayonthenet do some college work.

StefkaSnowAngel · 30/12/2008 19:15

I was in town this afternoon - scary!!

Got the postbox with the voucher. It's lovely. Dareh was posting the letters and saying bye bye as he put each one in. Except the orange one - he kept a hold of that. He loves organge things for some reason.

Not doing anything tomorrow. DH is on call so we can't go anywhere in case he has to work.

AllIWant4XmasIsAstrawberrylace · 30/12/2008 20:06

Hello everyone! And welcome to the new people - i didn't post on here for ages, but I'm glad I did cos this the one place on MN where you get support and not judgement....

I have one DS (Olly) born on 5 Oct - the same day as me and two days after his dad's bday! He is a very smiley boy who loves people, food and switches/buttons - remotes, phones, light switches, washing machine/oven buttons, tv off switch, xbox controller etc. He can walk if he holds on, but only manages a few steps on his own. Fave words are dada, all gone, uh-oh and grrr when he can't get his own way. And he's just learnt to nod and shake his head which is sooo cute. We still bf (with nipple shields) twice a day.

I work 3 days a week, though I did point out to my boss today that i actually do a full time job, she just pays me less money!
I hope you are all ok. Me and DS are still ill - DH caught our cold, mutated it and gave it back

Oh, and thank you all for the kind messages about my nan, it's much appreciated xx

StefkaSnowAngel · 30/12/2008 20:53

Oh btw I told my mumsnet birthday story at Christmas dinner and it made my dad cry!!

Mine · 30/12/2008 21:12

me again! God you guys have been chatty in a few hours!

Muppet - although Eren doesn;t have as many teeth and Henry, his top teeth are HUGH too . they practically look like adult teeth. Is this normal for baby teeth? Other babies i have seen have much smaller teeth.

Well at least he can eat by himself now as before the top ones came out he was really rubbish at eating on his own. Although i still give him spoon fed meals as he always eats more that way and i feel better knowing he has a full tummy of mummy's cooking

J20 - we went to soft play too today with DS's terrible twin cousins. They charge £3.50 for over 1year olds and you can stay for up to 2 hours. Adults don;t have to pay. Its great fun for Eren, he gets to walk around and play with other babies. He is so laid back for an only child. What i mean is that i would have thought he might have problems sharing toys and things but he is the exact opposite.... for now at least

Change of plan for tomorrow night... i will be going to my mum's who is throwing a bit of a New Year party. Lots of delicious Mediterranean food and about 15 people to share it with. I've made a lemon sorbet, orange and rum ice cream and a chocolate mud cake ..... i think i might sot and eat those by myself!

Why do i have to love food so much?!!! My body is very accepting of fatty foods

Hello Marla/Tistheseason
It is lovely to have new faces I have to add that I adore all the women on this thread and truly think of them all as my close friends, I never could have managed hyperemesis (at start of pregnancy) emergency CS and a 11lb (yes 11lb baby) and the whole ups and downs of parenthood without this amazing group of women. I could write a book about it!! we are all so different yet work so well as a group, I am pleased you have joined us and hope you will all become part of our extended family. Sniff sniff... I love you ladies!!!!!!!
muppet - what about one of these?
for the newbies, I am usually known as inzidoodle, I have an amazing, adorable little girl - Jane born 03/11/07 born a week late. She amazes me everyday! she walkes and runs (fast!) has learnt how to hide when playing chase in the house, raves to dance music!! is very independant already and brushes her hair/cleans teeth when asked. She can sayhello, hiya, bye bye, whats that, nana, iscuit (biscuit) mummy, dada, duck, bath, bubble, ball, mac (one of my dogs) she can eat with a spoon and has worked out a way round the baby gate, so climbs the stairs and plays in her room and refuses to listen to NO!!!!! I am 33 and happily married (most of the time ) in my before motherhood life I was a retail manager, I am now a fulltime SAHM and find it rewarding but very lonely and isolating at times, thats where mumsnet comes in !!!!
........and breath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine - I am inviting myself to the party, the food sounds fab!

whats everyone else doing for new year? DH and I are just staying in and watching telly (god how my life has changed!) we normally go to sil's for a big party but I dont want to drag Jane out of routine for 1 night full of screaming drunks!!!

hiya everyone else, will get round to doing a proper post later. Spent to much time doing the me me me me me me one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 30/12/2008 21:44

Just popping in to say what i've meant to say on my last 2 posts...

Strawberry - so sorry to hear about your nan, thinking of you x

TLESinChristmasStockings · 30/12/2008 22:18

Mine whats the address of the party??? lol We are going to be sooooooo bored tomorrow night as we want to go out but everyone we know has older children or no children so are going out anyway....

I HATE SITTING INDOORS!!!!!!!!!

alicet · 30/12/2008 22:32

Stefka your story about Dareh and the orange letter made me smile and about your Dad crying about Dareh's birthday made me a bit teary too. Sums up the supportive atmosphere here really.

J2O know what you mean about soft play being very expensive for little babies. We have spent about £25 at the Hereford place twice this week but it is worth it to see the boys so happy. We'll worry about it later!

WWAJC glad you survived the shopping! And hate to throw a spanner in the works but your dh really shouldn't do any heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks r it will increase the chance of hi hernia coming back. Fingers crossed it doesn't cause too much aggro...

Hello Inzi, Muppet, Crochet, Strawberry, LES and everyone else x

Well our news is that we are staying here for a few more days. Sophie has changed her flight back to NZ so that he is here for just over another week to make sure she and Jack are better to travel. So we are staying until 2nd or 3rd - I have to work on 4th. Really pleased as I was dreading leaving! Oh and to correct you all who have sent me lovly get well mesages - I'm OK now thanks - it's my sis, mum and Jack who have been poorly ot me. But them all being ill has put a bit of a dampener on everythig for everyone really. Thankfully after a week of feeling like hell I started improving a couple of days before Christmas...

Anyway off to bed now - send us some sleepy vibes - Adam slept till 7.20 this am which is virtually uheard of! Long may t continue

Oh and reards NYE dh and Iwere just going to have a night in on our own almost certainly going to bed before midnight but now we will be having a dinner party at mum and dad' with my sis and her dh, mum and dad and some of their friends who are almost like my second mum and dad. Will be lovely. Hope the rest of you have a lovely evening and I'll be back soon xxx

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 31/12/2008 00:25

Hey all,

Not sure what we're doing for new years, we were going to go to pils and have a drink then out Dylan to bed and stay in but Dylans cousin (who lives next door to pils) now has chicken pox so we don't really want to go down there anymore. I wouldn't usually mind as it's better if they get it young but we're going to peterborough to see my bros and sils from thurst to sun and I don't want him ill for the 5 hour journey, I also don't want him to pass it to his cousin down there... He might already have caught it though, will just have to keep an eye on him.

Anyway, if we don't go there I think we'll just have a cosy night in, can't drink much as we're driving the next day anyway. I too feel like i've done all my celebrating in my younger days and will be in bed asap

Off to bed, finally, night all x x x

SleepMeNot · 31/12/2008 07:52

Hi everyone and welcome newbies! All you need to know about me probably is my DD was born 13 days late (!) in mid November and does not sleep. Otherwise she is utterly charming - angel by day and devil by night!

Strawberry, I hope you are finding time to grieve your nan in the middle of everything.

Alice, hurrah that your sis has changed her ticket back and you get more time. And your NYE sounds lovely.

Everyone else, I'm with you on the not staying up thing - well I probably WILL be up but not voluntarily.. We have had my inlaws here for a week and it's been very busy, and DD has been her usual sleep nightmare - up every hour most nights, with the occasional generous 2 hour sleep slot. 2008: year of no sleep! Xmas was good though. And NYE is carpet picnic (idea stolen from Alice last year!) and bed as early as possible. I've discovered DD has a liking for M and S canapes...!

Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR all!

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 31/12/2008 08:42

I just went into Henry's room and he was sitting up in his cot!!!!!

Wooohoooo!

He is now doing a mixture of bum shuffling, backwards crawling (crawling may be a bit of a grand over statement but he's moving backwards!) and rolling but at least he's bloomin well moving!!!!

Alice -Greatnews on your sister and have a lovely dinner party tonight xxx

Am going to brave the supermarket today to get a leg of lamb for tomorrows dinner. I can then get a shepherd's pie from it for fri too. Dh does the leg a la HFW and puts anchovies and rosemary in it and it is the best lamb I have ever tasted. Lots of lovely roast pots and dh's gorgeous gravey. Ollie and I are making chocolate mousse during Henry's nap today, wish me luck!

Watched my christmas pressie from dh with dh last night and he thought it was a great film -mama mia and we both went to bed singing abba songs.

Need to go and rescue the Christmas tree from Henry who has managed to position himself right in front of it and is now playing with the lights

love to all
xxxxxx

LisaLessLumpy · 31/12/2008 08:54

What a chatty lot I missed it all as I have been playing tennis and bowling on my new wii and wii fit that dh got me for Xmas, its ace my right arm was really aching yesterday from the day before

WWAJC - hope your dh's surgery goes well and I am sure you will cope in the aftermath, we always do don't we

J20 - The soft play centre we go to charges nothing for under ones and £5.00 for overs, so that's now a tenner for us which doesn't seem too bad, plus you are not restricted time wise, you can stay as long as you like and it is a lovely place, overlooking the River Drewent I am planning on taking the boys on friday, hopefully my friends will be able to join us too.

Just adding some stuff regarding Ben... He has 10 teeth, 4 at the top, 2 bottom with one almost poking through and 4 doubles. He loves climbing and when coming down stairs he straightens himself out and comes down as if it is a slide on his tummy He is a right mummy's boy at the moment and it is getting quite comical because if Sam comes in for a cuddle Ben has to squeeze in between us. I am making the most of it as soon enough they won't want cuddles

Oh and he has learnt how to put the washing machine and dryer on, even though they need two buttons pushing to start. Twice now I have gone in the utility to find one of them on, with nothing in

In case you missed me saying... I have uploaded a couple of new pics to my profile, taken at pixifoto for Chrissy pressies

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 31/12/2008 08:59

lovely photos LLL xxx

Am now off to wrestle with a naked 4 yr old who doesn't seem to want to get dressed.

LisaLessLumpy · 31/12/2008 09:02

X-posted seeing as I started my post an hour ago

Muppet - WOO hOO on Henry, he's getting there! You will then wish he wasn't I love Mama Mia, it was on my Xmas list but no-one bought it me I will treat it to myself next time I am out shopping

alicet - glad your sister is staying on a bit longer

Regarding tonight, we are not doing anything special, a normal night and bed about 10 I should imagine

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 31/12/2008 09:25

sleepmenot Glad you had a nice/busy time with the ils. I hope the new year brings you some at least half decent sleep...my Mum keeps me going when Alex is at his worst by assuring me that I improved at 18 months (she put me in a proper bed and left the bedroom doors open so I could get in with her if I wanted ... she was disturbed less and I gradually stopped going through)Have a fab carpet picnic.

alice fabulous news about sis changing her ticket, have a wonderful meal tonight and a lovely couple of extra days

Dal I hope you have a lovely night no matter what you end up doing tonight. have a safe trip to Peterborough and a lovely couple of days with your bro and family.

J20 Softplay round here is £3.50 for over 12mth olds..I went with a pal the week before christmas and we were the only ones there! (credit crunch hitting already)but it was lovely for us to play with our kids and not have to worry about bullying big kids.

Muppet Glad you arent suffering too badly...you keep looking after yourself and the little bump.

Stefka I cried when you told us the story, I'm not surprised it made your Dad cry too...in fact I'm teary again just thinking about it

MineGlad you wont be alone the party sounds lovely...have a fabulous time.

WWAJC Cant believe you braved the dreaded TC again...good on you for getting what you needed...we wont even visit my Mum during the at the moment because she lives right next to the place and the idiots going there make the 25min journey into an hour and a half marathon. Hope the op goes well for your Dh and he has a speedy recovery.

Well it is my Mums turn to have us for New Year...when we are with her she always does an 8 course banquet to see out the old year...but her spare room is still chocca with all the stuff we moved in there when decorating her front room, making it difficult for us to stop over, so she is coming here with my brother and we are doing it between us here, even better they are staying over so I can start the New Year with all my favourite people round me. I'm doing melon and parma ham fans for starters, carrot and corriander soup course, mango sorbet, the cheese and biscuit platter and the coffee and petit fours...she is doing scallops in ginger and spring onion fish course, beef wellington main and lemon roulade dessert...and we have wines to go with each couse and champers to see in the New Year...We only do this every other year so I'm really looking forward to it...and starving myself today so I can fit it all in tonight

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
I hope 2009 brings you all every joy...

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 31/12/2008 09:33

like LLL it has taken over an hour to write....so xposted
Muppet ;meant to ditto inzis idea of a ramp for an arthritic older dog and WOW at Henry! At last!!!!See..he was saving it all for the new year!
LLL;I got mamma mia in my stocking too but your Wii....I really need to get back in control of my weight/fitness in the new year and wii fit games are such a fun way of doing it...

off to clean up the kitchen for tonight...have a fab night everyone

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 31/12/2008 11:42

Thanks inzi/floria regarding my old chap Dex. He was so upset at ot going out yesterday but I'll get dh on the case of the ramp. I just hope he's not petrified of it(he is most new things )

Just got back from supermarket and no lamb at all so Duck it is though we have to tell Ollie it's chicken as he is appalled at the idea of eating a duck. Was amazed at how empty it was but when we left it was getting pretty packed out. Henry's in bed and Ollie and I have just made the choc mousse for pudding at tonight's picnic. I phoned dh and he said he's be home normal tim which is anything from 7.30 onwards. I then said well, you'll have missed the picnic so he's seeing what he can do. He'd better bloody be on time as Ollie is so excited by the pyjama party.

Lisa those pictures are fab! I can't believe how cute those nativity ones are. They are so blonde aren't they!

Sunny - hope your DC get better soon and that you get some rest.

Wish I was doing something exciting for Hogmany. This is the first year ever that I haven't done anything. Wish we could all get together for a party!
