Of course not, Avonlea ... have posted on that thread myself ... welcome to Marla and TistheSeason ...

Actually, was thinking about this the other day, I feel it's about time for a quick roll-call ...

I am usually CrochetDiva - but am not at all diva-ish (except when it comes to my MiL). I have ds (Rhydian) who is 6, and dd (Mairwen) who was born 1/10/07 ... I work full-time as a secondary school teacher (of French) at a comp in Cardiff.

She can ... walk, run, climb - and does, lots!

She makes the following noises ... well, lots of random noises, but we are getting a definite "daddy", "dwr", and "book". She is very vocal, and has an opinion about everything.

She likes ... eating most things, especially pasta. She likes all books, things that make lots of noise, her dolls, being outside, and her brother's light sabre (we've had to buy a second!)

She doesn't like ... being told "no", mashed potato, men with beards, ladies in hats, and the sound of sellotape being taken off the roll

Any other quirks ... I'm still bf, and we use cloth nappies. DH is booked in for the snip very soon!

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 30/12/2008 09:23

Floria ? Fab news on the great night but that Alex may be becoming ill

J20 ? Wow! Your Christmas day sounded very hectic, make sure you have some time to drink and be merry chill xxx

WWAJC ? we had the same problem with Ollie in that where we were living at the time had a step between the kitchen and the rest of the house and he would be fine to get in the kitchen but then get stuck at the step. How many times did I help him back into the rest of the house?.?

AOAL/TTS ? Hi! Lovely to have new people in, keeps us all fresh

Well, I have Oliver (4.9 but seems more like 14) and Henry 14 months on 5th Jan
Henry doesn?t crawl yet or do much but shout so his lings and voice box we?ve never really worried about. He waves bye bye and says ?aye? (aka Ali Gee), he says ?ack? when I read Hairy McClary and he sees the duck. He is going to be my tantrum boy as he throws his head back, goes bright red and throws himself on the floor (luckily as he?s not crawling/walking it?s not that far ) He sleeps for England ?fingers in ears Floria et al? and also eats for England. His favourite pastime is playing with anything of Oliver?s

I was a teacher (and ?cellist in a previous life) but now are a sahm and are also 12 weeks prgt with no 3 (our last)

Hi everyone!

Welcome Marla/TisTheSeason!

I have a ds called Dylan who was born 30/10/07 and is now 14mo. He has been walking round the furniture for about 2 months now and can stand alone for about a minute and has taken 2 steps the other day but not done it since.

He likes to laugh at nothing at all and loves toys with wheels.

He can say mama, dada, mumeee, car, cat, Tess (our dog) and a few other words I can't remember right now. He makes a LOT of silly noises, most of them raspberry based .

I tried to bf him but only managed it ex for 5 weeks and then he was mix fed till 5 mo(have since been told he no
whas a slight tongue tie).

He is now on high calorie milk through his dietician (long story but basically he's slow to gain weight and doesn't like to eat a lot of food).

His favourite tv program is the simpsons. He sleeps very well (sorry to those with ones who don't).

I am SAHM, this was always the plan if we were to have had kids. I have also found the isolation hard to deal with at times and because I have been soooo stressed over Dylans eating and weight gain I suffered a bout of PND. I did see the doc and have had some ad's and feel great now!

We are ttc no 2 at the mo

Off to give him his milk, back later x

LisaLessLumpy · 30/12/2008 11:08

Hi Marla, Hi TistheSeason, nice to see some new faces on here

I have two boys, Sam who is 3 and a half and Ben who is nearly 15 months, born 5th Oct, 4 days late, by emergency c-section as found out he was breech at 3 days overdue

He is going to be a proper little monkey, he already has mini tantrums when I take something off him he shouldn't have, or if I move him away from where he shouldn't be. He started walking a week after his birthday and hasn't looked back since. His favourite game is banging everything on walls or tables He just looks at you and smiles if you tell him no and then blatently ignores you (he is so cute when he does it though it is very hard to keep a stern face) I have started using the naughty spot already, I know he won't fully understand it for a while but I am hoping he will soon realise if I tell him 'no' several times and he continues doing it, this will be the consequence.

He also sleeps very well, a solid 11-12 hours most nights and a good 1-3 hour nap every day (sorry to those that are not so lucky ) He also eats very well (although he has been ill for a week and has hardly eaten) still he is a good weight so it won't hurt him

I have attached a new picture to my profile of the three of us that I had taken at Christmas as various presents for people

The up side is that he and Sam have started playing really well together but have already started hitting out at each other and making each other cry

LisaLessLumpy · 30/12/2008 11:14

Oh and I am a SAHM too, not intending to go back to work either. Ben also has a tongue tie, I managed 24 hours bf then gave up I bf Sam for 5 months though so don't feel bad about not doing it this time.

Ben doesn't say much, well anything you can tell anyway, he just jabbers alot. He does say 'ta' and 'all gone' though He understands a hell of a lot though which constantly amazes me.

This group of ladies are a god send and have kept me sane over the last 2 years almost, so welcome to the new ladies and I hope you stay in regular touch

TLESinChristmasStockings · 30/12/2008 11:28

Hi I am Usually TheLadyEvenStar

I have 2 ds's Karl who is 10 and Zachary who is 15m he was born on 18th September 4 weeks early.

We co-slept for the fisrt 11 months then when we moved to our new flat he went straight into his new cot and like always has slept all the way through (hides from all you ladies who still have sleepless nights before you pelt me with rotten tomatoes)

He is walking, running and talking he says
Dut Door - shut door, nin nin - dinner, out, up, daddy, mamma, Rar- Karl, Nana as in nanny, ilk-milk, me, mine, nooooooo, lolate-chocolate, beeb beeb - bib bib when I oush his or my nose lol, tiss- kiss, baba- baby and i think thats about it.

He does the actions of "if your happy and you know it clap your hands"

nowhere near ready for potty training although he says wee wee. I am also using cloth nappies and am a pram and nappy addict.

He loves food the spicier the better and is a chocolate milk addict.

welcome to the mad house xxx

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 30/12/2008 11:50

Sunny & Marla Welcome! How wonderful to have fresh faces around.
I'm normally called FloriaTosca (Floria or FT on here) The oldest new mum on the thread. Once upon a time I was an opera singer now I mainly teach from home 3 afternoons a week while my Mum babysits. Ds Alex was due in October (5th) but I was induced early and he arrived on September 26th but I refused to leave this gang (they are all too lovely and I couldnt have survived the last 15 months sane without them)He took his first steps at 8 months and has had me running around after him ever since...and no, it hasnt got rid of my excess weight either Marla. I too still bf, though I haven't got rid of the day time feeds yet and though he doesn't normally co-sleep (I didnt trust myself not to roll on him) he does feed during the night and preferrs it if I get into the spare bad with him and we have yet to have the miracle of a complete nights sleep...or record is 9.30pm-8.30am with one wake up at 4.15-4.45...which was 3 nights ago and utter bliss..... but he followed it with a night where he kept either me or dh up from 2.30am until 8.45!...last night was a more normal bed at 8.30, woke at 2.30 for 30 mins, 4.45 for 45 mins and 7.30 for good...
He runs, climbs and deliberately does "naughty" things like turn off the telly, swing on the vertical blinds, pull baubles off the tree etc...and the latest, after watching the snooker, is to get his duck on a stick (mums net birthday pressie)by the duck end and use the stick, like a cue, to hit the baubles on the tree[fhum]
He says quite a lot...Mummy, daddy, doggie, kitty, potty, ball,bauble/bubble, moon, bye, bath, book, yeh, nah.. baa, woof, meow, moo...loads more but the latest are tang (tongue) Tayn (Thane..our dog), and than-oo(thank you)
He loves swimming, reading books, his toy vaccuum cleaner and his little tykes car and Thane
He eats most things, mince pies being a recent favourite..and the dogs dry food being a temptation apparently
He hates beards (strange considering that the dog had the biggest beard ever!)[fhum]

crickey...I've bored you enough...better shut up before I scare you away

J2O · 30/12/2008 12:07

welcome sunny and marlo!

I have dd1 who will be 9 in April and Shannon who was born 5th Oct, i was(and still am) the only single mum when we all joined the thread, the sperm donor has never met Shannon and i have no intention of him ever doing so, dd1 see hers Dad regularly, i also have a new partner who i've been with 7 months, who for the most part is great, but he doesn't live with me.

Shannon is walking, she says a few things like nose, cat, car, Dada, noonie(Leonie, dd1) down, bath Nana(me!) and she sings and does dancing, usually trying to copy dd1s moves She was bf until about 6 weeks, then i got so exhausted i ended up putting her on ff. She likes to hit people in the face with toys and finds it highly amusing when she is told off. She loves men, any men, but is a bit funny with strange women she has no interest in films or tv(but i don't really watch tv anyway) and loves her pram, dolls and the cat.

right we are off to teach Rich the joys of soft play centres, we're going to one where the adults are allowed on the slides should be fun

have a nice day all xx

Mine · 30/12/2008 12:10

He eats pretty much everything except fish, babbles a lot with a few distinguishable words.
Eren has just learnt to click his fingers and usually does it in time to whatever is on the radio...... maybe a future Simon Cowell.......

Its great to see a few newbies, the more the merrier indeed!!

Sunny I have been very lucky as Zachary has slept through since he was 2 weeks old. He was due 15th October But decided to come early and there is no way I am leaving these ladies, they are like family to me.

StefkaSnowAngel · 30/12/2008 13:55

Welcome Marla and Tistheseason!!

Marla I totally hear what you are saying about the isolation thing. I have felt so lonley since I had DS. I love him to bits but it's a bit like you enter a different world and you no longer have a visa for the old place. My other friends are far away and don't have kids and I haven't really clicked with any other mums in the area.

Anyway I am Stefka although I have been thinking of a name change as anyone who knew me in real life would easily identify me. Not sure how much of a worry that is really but I might have to change to something a bit more obscure.

I have a DS, 14 months obviously. Not walking yet, just cruising but still into everything somehow.

He's still breastfed and can sleep through the night but usually doesn't. He has a few words - first word boob! Also Daddy, teddy, baby, cup and bye bye.

I am at home just now but hopeing to get some part time teaching work. So far had little luck.

And he is climbing my leg right now so I am going to take him down the down to have a look for that post box. I have a voucher for elc and it sounds so lovely!

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 30/12/2008 13:55

sunnytimer - I'm quite strict with daytime naps as I once heard sleep breed sleep so they both went down at 10am ish for 1-2 hrs and again at for the same though Henry tends to only have an hr in the afternoons as we have to get Ollie from school. Henry goes to bed at 6pm and sleeps til 7-8-9am (not 8-9 on school days)

I do think there is a huge amount of luck to the magic sleep answer though

I'm with you on the 'must go and do something today' thing though, are taking the boys + our Jack Russell Stan for a walk to get some fresh air.

Floria/Inzi - I took Dex out with us yesterday for a walk and we used the car, Dex was fine getting in to go but needed me to lift him back in after the walk which I can't really do. (our car is very high off the ground) Is there anything I can get to help him or is it the end of Dex in the car with me and the boys? He's struggling with his shoulders and his hips now

Well, am going to dress Henry now as he's still in his babygrow! but he trying to move by bum shuffling so don't want to interrupt him as if he sees me he stops and points at what he wants to get (still very lazy)

alicet · 30/12/2008 14:20

Hello lovely ladies and welcome to sunny and marla! Just went and posted on the thread in Chat that you came from before reading on hereand realisingyou had already found us

My name couldn't be more identifiable but I don't relaly care - if I ned to ask abot something anonymous then I jut change my name then usually out myself on here by accident! I have ds1 Sam who is 3 in Feb and ds2 Adam who was born on Oct 2nd 2007 and my ticket to this little club! Having 2so close together has ben hard work but like Lsa I am beginning to see the benefits of them playing together. Be even better in a coupleof months when Adam is more confident on his feet I think. He is quite a chatterer though - Mummy, Daddy, Cat, Brother, Down, Hiya, Ta, Yes (or Yeh Yeh Yeh!! when you do something he wants / likes!),No, Sam among others... We are having a few issues with him at the moment - like some of the others he is chucking some mega tantrums completely out of the blue and gts really distressed - smetimes its actually really hard to work out what has precipitated it or what he actually wants. Hoping things will calm down as he begin to talk a little more... Been all the more of a shock as Sam has always been very happy and easy going. Still thee is no reason that they should be the same I guess.

I'd also like to add that these ladies have been a lifeline over the last couple of years - actually come on and chat to some of the ladies here in preference to some of my rl friends which I woud have thought down right wierd until I got to know them! Some of you are rl friends now too

Have been keeping up over last few days but we are officially in the lurgy house - mum, my sis and her ds are all now ill which is a real shame as it means we haven't had much quality time together. Dh and I have been taking the boys out t stop them going stir crazy (have found a fantastic soft play place in Hereford near mum and dad's - Sam cried when we had to leave today!) but the down side is I haven't had much catch up time with my sis and we leave tomorrow. She is back to NZ on 1st and not back until Agust . At least we have webcams and the phone but it feels like ages and her ds will hve change so much by then... Trying not to think about it...

Anyway I have totally forgotten what you have al been chatting about so will go back and make sure I haven'#t missed anything monumental... f I don't come ack though it will be because my sis has come back - she is out with her ds at the mo but I had to come home to put my 2 to sleep...

Marla meant to ask where you are? There might be someone on here nearby and I am sure they would be happy to meet up with you if you are struggling to find new mates now you have a lo? I am in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and would be very happy to try and catch up if you are nearby?

Have to second what Alice said about this thread being a life line. The ladies here are my friends and I don't know what I would have done without them these last few months.

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 30/12/2008 17:38

Marla -just seen you're in Berkshire -where I was born and brought up! The newbury area mainly but then went to uni in Reading so if you fancy a meet up...I'm in Swindon (well someone has to be )

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2008 17:49

Crochet - hugs to you - at any thoughts of having twins!

Sunny/Marla - but we're lovely! How could anybody be scared of us? Welcome welcome welcome. I'm usually WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes and I have Anya who was born 7 Oct 07. She's just started walking and is incredibly determined to get anything she shouldn't and she screeches loudly if she's stopped. She used to sleep wonderfully but now gets us up several times a night for us to put her dummy back in her mouth (going to have to cure that one!), she eats like a horse and she chatters a lot but no proper words yet. She is easily bored but very sociable. She has a form of dwarfism, which is supposed to hinder her development but she's not behind at all. She loves books, pulling her socks off, and the reset button on the V+ box. She hates being kept waiting. I work part-time and DH looks after Anya while I work and my parents help out.

Mine - wow at Eren clicking fingers! Sorry you'll be on your own tomorrow. I plan to be asleep .

Alice - shame you are poorly. hope you manage to get some more quality time with your sis.

Well we made it to the Trafford Centre this morning so I managed to get some shopping done. Glad we went first thing though - by lunchtime the queues were as bad as yesterday. Anya has been really stroppy this afternoon - she's not stopped whinging and screeching - it's very tiring!

DH has been waiting for a hernia operation and the hospital phoned today to say it will be Monday morning. We're relieved as he's in a lot of discomfort but it will mean he can't lift Anya for a couple of weeks at least - which is going to make life difficult while I'm working. Luckily my parents can help out but it's going to be complicated for a bit!

J2O · 30/12/2008 18:20

wow chatter boxes

well we had great fun at the fun centre, me more than most although i am aching now, and Rich kept going on about other ones that he'd seen...that might be good...etc, pita, don't know why he couldn't just get on with it and have fun! Shannon had a couple of scraps with other babies over balls, and then got caught up in a ball pool fight of ball throwing and has not got a bit of a bump on the head, so the other children got shouted(or possibly screeched) at by me. I wasn't impressed that it was nearly £4 for #shannon and £5 for dd1, then i had to pay £1 for me too, by the time i had bought drinks and some dinner, it cost me £20 for 2 hours. Ah well, i used some christmas money anyway.

Oh Shannon has finally got one of her top teeth through, its huge! no wonder its taken so many months to come through, she has now got 3
Its just me and her tonight, as dd1 is at her Dads and Rich is at his doing uni work, we had prawns, smoked cheese, bread and butter, banana, satsuma and raisins for tea

So whats everyones plans for tomorrow then? we're going to my friends child friendly party i think.
