Strawberry - So sad to hear about your Nan, I am glad it was peaceful though xxx

We had a busy Christmas day. Ollie got us up at 6.30am which is pretty normal so that was fine. We got Henry up around 7.30 and he looked like someone had punched him in the face as his eyes were very puffy -clearly not a morning person! The living room disappeared under a sea of wrapping paper and boxes and Henry was in heaven so much that

He started rolling to get things he wanted!!!!!!!! So finally he is a little on the move. I know it's not crawling but at least it's an inclination to do so. He's literally just rolled from one side to the other to nick Ollie's fire station toys. (tee hee it's very funny to see Ollie trying to get him off them and Henry 'Shouting' at Ollie!!)

We had friends over on Christmas eve and their son threw up (the red drink + chocolate he'd just eaten) all over our landing carpet right outside the living room. Oh well, dh got the vax out but it is ruined. Not to worry as it needs replacing but at least it didn't have a lsrge red 'we all know what that stain is' red patch on it.

Today we're off to the local house with large grounds for the dogs to bomb about and Ollie to get the wellies on and jump in puddles. Dh is still in bed as he's knackered but in his defence he did cook the most amazing Christmas dinner -partridge- which was very tasty. He even bought rose champagne as he knows I like it and could only have 1 glass of anything. OOO he bought me a lovely new handbag (when I say Lovely, I mean ^lovely) and mama mia dvd and I got him a birds of prey day at warwick castle which he's chuffed with. MIL said she was feeling sorry for herself and I had to wash Ollie's present before he could wear it as it smelled of smoke but at least Ollie likes it -camflage coat (sorry sp)

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and thanks tles for my pressie it is going in our bathroom so no one else can use it!!! btw if I have another boys do you think it's unreasonable to paint my little toilet pink and ban the boys from going anywhere near it??????

love to all and thanks for another great year of friendship and here's to many, many more xxxxxx

StefkaSnowAngel · 26/12/2008 21:25

Hey all,

Hope you all had a nice day yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your Nan Strawberry, that must have been difficult for you.

Great news about Henry!!

My Christmas was ok. My parents were miserable gits though. SIL wasn't too bad although she gave me a bit of a lecture on dicipline in relation to DS. Naturally her DD had twice as many gifts to open as DS and she made a point of telling me that she had the same amount again to open today when they went to see her mum. If it hadn't been for the mumsnet appeal stuff DS would have had only the one thing we bought him. He loved all the stuff so huge thank you to whoever nominated me!! SIL did a lovely meal though which was really generous of her.

LisaLessLumpy · 26/12/2008 22:18

Glad your day was ok Stefka

I didn't really enjoy yesterday, I felt totally out of it all day with this damned cold and just felt stressed with having to cook dinner as I just couldn't concentrate on more than one thing at a time. I had also only had approx 4 hours sleep Went to bed at 11pm, Ben woke up at 12.15am and 1.30pm, I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep and Sam woke at 5.15am. Ben OTOH slept in till 8.30am The boys have been off their food too and didn't eat any of the dinner yesterday and Ben has been poorly all day today with a temperature

Tomorrow we are off to see my family with more present openings, hopefully we will all feel a little better

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 27/12/2008 00:00

HI! Hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas.

Sorry for your sad loss Strawberry.

Well done on rolling at last Henry

Hope you are all feeling better and had a more enjoyable day today Lisa

Glad you had a good day Stefka and truly glad you were nominated...(I wish I had know about it and could have taken credit)

Sorry not to have been around but this was my first ever attempt at Christmas dinner for the Ils and I was somewhat stressed ...especially as all week mil had been saying "I have given my house a complete blitz for Christmas, I do think a house needs to be shining on the big day" or "I do like home made turkey gravy/cranberry sauce/ apple sauce/ breadsauce/ insert any other thing you might have cheated by buying a jar of" ......as it happens I over catered and over embellished everything (parsnips with parmesan, pine nuts and thyme, carrots in orange and maple syrup glaze, port and butter braised red cabbage, sprouts with chestnuts, bacon and lemon crumb etc...you get the idea...too many cookery books!)anyway the meal went ok (the turkey and gammon were pretty darned good if I say so myself)and I'll knoe better to keep it a bit more simple next time...but with the cooking and Alexs' present mountain to tackle (too many relations too) I was utterly exhausted yesterday and today hasnt been much better...we have already been to 3 relatives homes, attending a second Christmas dinner and a boxing day party today and I have just dumped Dh at another party because Alex was on a charge all day yesterday and today and was soooooo over tired....it was only the car journey that got him to sleep 50 mins ago so I decided not to attend so he would be sure to stay asleep and get some desperately needed rest.
He loved his Peg-Perego Santa Fe Express ride-on Train from us yesterday but the big hit of the day (besides the boxes)was his childs vaccuum cleaner! [fhumm]
What I really came on to say was a big thank you to my secret santa for my lovely bracelet...rose quartz and hemacite...beautiful and meaningful...thank you so much.
Another day of festive excess ahead of us tomorrow ...at least I'm not doing the catering this time...I'll be back as soon as I can.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 27/12/2008 09:33

alicet · 27/12/2008 13:15

Sorry to hear so many of you have been having stressful times over Christmas and a big hug to strawberry for the sad loss of your Nan...

We have been hit by the lurgy here too... Thankfully dh and I are on the mend and the boys have colds which they are a little off colour with but not to bad. My mum though has been hit hard - I think she probably has the same as me. My sister's little boy is also poorly and both ofthem being ill as put a bit of a dampener on our celerations. Dh is knackered too as Adam woke at 5.20 (he he it was his day - I got a 6.45 yesterday!). It is a bit tugh being in the middle of nowhere too as taking the boys anywhere is a bit of a marathon effort!

That is all the negs - on the plus side its lovely to see my sister and the chilling and not doing much is actually doing me the world of good! So not all bad...

Catch you later xxx

StefkaSnowAngel · 27/12/2008 13:24

Sorry you've been ill Lisa and Alice - nothing worse at Christmas time. Hope you are all better in time for new year.

Loved my secret santa present btw!! The wonder woman cup really made me laugh and I sneaked off a couple of times to munch a bit of that lovely fudge. Dareh loved his little dog too - that was really kind of you.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 27/12/2008 15:33

StefkaSnowAngel · 27/12/2008 19:34

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 27/12/2008 19:51

Hi ladies

LES - the photois are great, I looked at them on FB.....and no you dont look rough!!

Stefka - I am glad your day was OK, sorry you had to have it with the SIL from hell, she really does lord it over you, I hope you win the lottery and do it right back to her!!!

Strawberry - so sorry about your loss I am really glad it was so peaceful

floria - omg your food sounds amazing I had plain old carrots and sprouts nothing near your food, and I cheated tubs of M&S cranberry sauce/bread sauce and turkey gravy!!!!!!!

Alicet - sorry the lurgy has hit so hard keep chilling out if you can!!

LLL - sorry to hear about the lurgy with you as well, I hope your visits today went ok

muppet - wooohoooo gooooooo Henry!!! he will be spri nting before you know it!!! hope you are keeping ok as well.

well our christmas morning was lovely, Jane woke at 7.30am and we all lay in bed watching cartoons while she had her breakfast. Then we came down and let her walk in the living room herself we had her trampoline and pram out in the middle of the room and the couches covered with wrapped gifts...she kept screaming wooo wooo whats thaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! it was magical!! then it got a bit stressful I was preparing the m,eal, watching Jane and cleaning the house....5 minutes before ,my family arrived dh and I had a massive fight, so he stormed upstairs, I sneaked up while everyone was opening presents to find dh pacing and telling me he was leaving us !!!! anyway long story short I had a few choice words and he came down, its all sorted now, but a stressful start! My mum and dad got Jane a bettry operated quad bike, its meant for 18month+ but we took her out and she can use it no problem, its amazing to see her fly along, and she presses the on button no problem, she was chasing the dogs on it!!!!!
DH was back at work today so very of everyone still enjoying family time felt a bit low today as would love to be out but cant with no car just now, my sis is in Ireland she would normaly be over visiting. DH has a few days at new year so hopefuly be better then, I am hpoing our cheque from the insurance comes soon so it clears for doing some shopping next weekend!!

hope you all have lovely weekends and those with lurgy feel better!!

OMG never checked that, sorry for all the typos!!!

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 27/12/2008 20:04

Hi all,

Just popping on to say thank you to Stefka for the gorgeous necklace and earrings ... I have just the top to wear them with!

Christmas day was lovely - I cooked a full turkey dinner for the 9 of us, and even though I say so myself, it was bloody marvellous! I managed not to strangle MiL - but she did upset me - every time either of the children came anywhere near me, they were called away for some important task by her. It was so blatant that even dh noticed!

We had decided to go visiting in West Wales today: dh's aunt and uncle, and also C (whose partner died this time last if you remember the saga - she's really getting all the unfairness, as she's now battling cancer herself - more of which another time), then we said we'd pop in to see the PiLs for a sarnie before heading back. Well, MiL decided we were in fact going to have a full roast dinner - then it turned out that dh's aunt and uncle have got the flu, so weren't up to receiving visitors, and C was at the hospital getting drains removed, so wasn't at home either ... but we still had to go back as MiL had made a big deal out of us having a big cooked dinner. I had been very honest with dh and told him I'd rather not go back, but I went, as a compromise really - so we went, had lunch, then drove back again ... no way was I staying longer than absolutely necessary!

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant!

Right, am going to chuck dh off the Wii we've bought ourselves for Christmas!

Love to everybody - hope those who've got the lergy get rid of it soon: and that those who haven't don't get it!

TLESinChristmasStockings · 27/12/2008 20:38

Inzi I felt rough lol don't know why but i really felt awful.

Loved seeing Zachary on xmas day though was great watching him open his pressies.

Stefka the pics are here mumsnet.com/Profile?nick=TLESinChristmasStockings&photos=p

StefkaSnowAngel · 27/12/2008 23:01

Ha I was looking at the wrong one! Must have been a profile picture or something. Those feet are so sweet! Must remember that trick!

TLESinChristmasStockings · 27/12/2008 23:37

Stefka, I got a box of things from my local morrisons and the feet stencils were in there along with the snow....Karl woke me up to tell me santa "really" has been mummy he even left snow in the living room lol

I didn't think about him believing before then...do you think it is time to tell him?

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 28/12/2008 11:33

Crochet - thank you for my secret santa pressie - the moebius scarf is lovely (fab colour!) and a girl can't have too many chocs! The hat does fit Anya - she looks very cute.

Strawberry - so sorry to hear about your nan. As you say, at least it was peaceful. Hope you managed to have a good Christmas despite that.

Muppet - hurray for Henry rolling about! It's amazing what motivation a Christmas present can be!

Stefka - glad your Christmas was ok.

LLL - poor you, hope you are all feeling better now. Nothing worse than being ill on Christmas day is there?

Alice - hope you're feeling better too.

FT - I'm coming to your house for Christmas day lunch next year .

Inzi - sounds like Jane had an amazing Christmas - lol at her "woo woo what's that?"

We had such a lovely Christmas day. My parents came round after lunch (so we only had to do lunch for the 3 of us thank goodness!) and they brought a huge box of presents for Anya. Then yesterday we went to dh's other dd's where we had the most amazing lunch (her dh is a chef) and Anya got another big pile of presents. Her favourites so far are a farm and tractor set with lots of little farm animals, and a wooden post box with wooden letters to post. She wore herself out both days and she slept an awful lot yesterday. Meanwhile dh and I have eaten our own body weight in chocolate. I love Christmas .

StefkaSnowAngel · 28/12/2008 11:37

Glad you had a good time Jaffacakes. The postbox sounds lovely - where was that from?

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 28/12/2008 13:55

Hi all

tles -dh has been using my laptop to search for cars so he won't have replied! Email me xx

Crochet - SOrry MIL was as usual, you do live in hope that they will change but very good that dh is 'seeing' it now.

LLL/Alice - so sorry you've had the lurgy it's a really crap time to get it what with the children being very excited despite you feeling like hell...

Floria - Well done on your cooking of Christmas lunch it sounds lovely >

Stefka - sorry your SIL was a pain, it's a bit like the MIL situation in that you want to be surprised she's changed but, oh no, she's still the same

We've just got back from friends in Crewe who are expecting their first in Feb. They cooked us a wonderful meal last night after the boys went to bed and it was lovely feeling like a grown up again! Bit tired now but dh wants to go and see a car this afternoon as we are looking for a new one to possibly buy now or next aug. (our current one has a repair bill of over half the value so isn't worth repairing, it's just will it last to the end of the finance payments before the work needs to be done or can we make it last and just give the blooming thing back? Plus the longer we leave it, the more we can save, the less finance we have to take out so that's a really good insentive to make it last as long as possible)

Henry hasn't really done musch more rolling to get Ollie's toys but I think I'll get loads more out tomorrow (don't care if the living room looks like a tip) but he's very happy with his new selection of toys. Might also try a packet of balloons blown up, Ollie loved that on a rainy or cold day and is very cheap

will be back later, just off for beans on toast, mmmmmmmm
xx

LisaLessLumpy · 28/12/2008 17:00

Hi all

Glad you all seem to have had good Christmas Days. I went back to bed on Xmas Day afternoon when everyone had left, for a couple of hours I felt so crap only having had about 4 hours sleep, then I got up and cleaned up all the dinner stuff and roasting pans, (ended up using three to cook the goose in, there was so much fat!) DH entertained the boys whilst totally off his head with booze

Have only just finished putting stuff away and cleaning the dining room up though.

Yesterday we went to my brothers for my family doo which was great, my family is ace and a great laugh, the boys had so much more presents though I am really quite stressed as to where to put it all, they have been spoilt rotten its a good job we have built this playroom otherwise I think I would have had a breakdown

I'll upload some photos soon to my facebook account, although I was too ill/busy to take many. I am still feeling crap now, I was up half the night coughing, the only thing helping me through the day atm is day and night nurse tablets, I feel relatively ok till they start wearing off. Ben is also not well, he has been running a temperature since Xmas Day and has barely eaten since Xmas Eve, he has even started to feel a bit lighter when you pick him up In fact I ought to go and wake him, he has been in bed since 2.45pm

Have been having a sort out of the study with DH today, managed to get rid of a ton of stuff which will need to go on the bonfire, you would have been amazed at the amount of stuff we burnt yesterday with all the Xmas wrappings/boxes etc and now we seem to have the same amount again after visiting my family. Still need to sort out where to put all these toys though arrgghh!!!

Still the house is starting to look tidy again which it hasn't done since Sept when the building works started

Oh and DH surprised me with a wii and wii fit for Christmas and we have been playing on that this morning, its ace, should have got one sooner. He also bought me guitar hero although it is really for him I think

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 29/12/2008 08:50

LLL; sorry you have been feeling so ill, hope you are getting better daily. Well done on the tidying , especially when you are under the weather...I sooo your playroom...one day when the rest of the house has been tackled we intend converting our loft into one...Alex will probably have left home by then though

Muppet; I hope the balloons work (Alex adores them too)Henry has done it once I'm sure he will stop being a couch potato soonand I hope the car lasts out for you (I've been in that exact same situation more times than I wish to remember!)

JCroaof; glad you have had a lovely christmas..the chef cooked meal must have been amazing but you are more than welcome to try my ridiculous excesses anytime.

Inzi. Jane sounds like Alex on christmas morning...isnt it just wonderful?

Well...we had a fabulous night fromAlex on saturday...mum baby sat for us (we had dhs badminton club xmas party)and had him asleep for 8.30..he woke once at 4.15 bfd for 40mins and then slept until 9am!!!!! Best night ever!!!! However I think he might be sickening for something because last night he was trying to sleep but simply couldnt...he had me with him from 2.30- 4. dh from 4-5, me again from 5- 7 after which I got up with him though he clearly didnt want to actually get up or play....he has just fallen asleep on me now, so I'm going to see if he lets me put him in his cot or if he'll wake enough to do the pathetic, eyes closed weeping we had all night...if I'm not back, it worked and I'm off trying to catch uo

J2O · 29/12/2008 13:29

hellooooo all, wow you lot have been chatty, i haven't hardly hadtime to come on over the festive period.

sounds like overall, most of us had nice christmas days.

LLL-sorry you have been poorly hope you are better now.

Alice-hope you and the boys are also better!

Inzi-what a horrible time for dh to do that! Stressed with it being christmas?

LES-will look at the pics when i get chance.

Stefka-God, your sil is a silly cow, she needs a boot up the arse and to keep out of the way that you want to bring lo up, maybe you should have popped her dd on the boob for a bit see how she liked it.

Muppet-hope the car lasts for you, what a pita, well done Henry for rolling though!

Floria-wow at you doing all that food!

Jaffa-Glad you, dh and Anya had a nice dinner alone before people turned up

oh damn it, had to go and answer the door, forgotten everything now, hi crochet and anyone else i missed!

we had a hectic christmas day, all i did was cook and clean, had my dad and his wife for dinner, then we kicked them out to go drop dd1 off at her grandmas where her dad was, then to Richies witch Aunties to see his mum, then back to dd1s grandmas for a buffet, was in bed at 9.30 as i was shattered. Well the gas man has woken Shannon up so will try and be back later xx

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2008 14:31

Stefka - post box was from Early Learning Centre - here

LLL - hope you're feeling better soon. We could do with a playroom soon but we would need an extension. Maybe when Anya's old enough for her free nursery place she can go there and I can work an extra day a week - that would pay for it I think. So not for another couple of years then!

FT - glad Alex gave you a good night's sleep on Saturday. Hope he's feeling better today.

J2O - hope you enjoyed your busy day despite being shattered.

Well I had the bright idea of going to the Trafford Centre this morning. Anya still needs a few more clothes and I need some new underwear so I took Anya, thought we'd have some lunch and mooch round the shops for an hour or so. I thought that anybody who wanted to do post-christmas-shopping would have done it boxing day or over the weekend. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Every single car park was full, plus lots of illegally parked cars and the cars were still queuing to get in. (I'd gone by a back route so luckily didn't get stuck in traffic). I dread to think how many people were actually shopping - there's 10,000 car parking spaces so that would be 15,000 people at a guess?? We came straight back home. Maybe try again tomorrow first thing.

Anya's getting really frustrated at the moment. One of her presents was this, which she loves but she can't work out how to turn it round when she runs it into a wall. She screeches until I do it for her but she wants to play with it endlessly so it's very tiresome! Might have to hide it for a bit .

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 29/12/2008 19:38

Hi all ...

j20 - am just loving your assessment of what stefka's Sil needs - I second that! !

I covet that post box - we may buy M that with her Christmas money - we went to Toys R us this morning (R & I) to spend his money - he bought more Lego!

Am soooooo relieved - I got my period this morning - it's 4 days late - I'm never late! Believe you me, I was relieved ... I'd beentrying to work out how we'd afford 3 kids - then last night I dreamt I was expecting twins! I have never been so pleased to have stomach ache!

love to all - hope the lergy is abating!
