tLES - much as I would love to make you wool soakers, I think I have to pass - there simply aren't enough hours in the day! If I get my Christmas gift making finished in the next day or two, then I'll see if I can squeeze in a pair ... not promising anything though!

TLESinChristmasStockings · 21/12/2008 13:34

Crochet not to worry! I will just go get some more jumpers and make them from them lol wrks just as well!!

LisaLessLumpy · 21/12/2008 17:04

What was I saying about not having had 'the' cold yet

JaffaCakesRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/12/2008 17:44

Apricot - hope you have a wonderful time on hols.

FT/Muppet - had a great time yesterday. Lovely to meet Muppet's dh too. I was amazed that Anya didn't bring anything of Alex's home with her - and we didn't seem to be missing anything either - as they spent 2 hours stealing each others toys/food/cups/etc.

Inzi - fab news, so pleased for you. Enjoy the cash!

LLL - fingers crossed you're not feeling too poorly.

Hi to everyone else.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 21/12/2008 18:25

Has everyone got their SS gift yet?

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 21/12/2008 19:04

Hi all
Lovely to meet up with WWAJC again and meet Floria. Alex and Anya were so cute together!
We had a fab time not having the children and Mary Poppins was great. Feeling very tired now despite not waking up till 8am!!! (What a lie in ) Don't worry about the coffee, they were creeping and didn't charge us for lots of things x

Tles -no, not got mine but then I've still not sent the one I should have, maybe I'm my own secret sanata?
Btw, no sign of the parcel it didn't arrive on Wed. Do you have a tracking number so I can get onto them?

A quick question,
How would you all feel if you MIL took your child to the hairdressers and got their hair cut? She didn't ask and no mention was made during the many phonecalls during the day to see how the boys were.
Dh and I are a little confused...

StefkaSnowAngel · 21/12/2008 19:07

I also have the cold now too. Hope it is gone in time for Christmas.

Muppet I would be furious if someone cut DS's hair without asking me first. Especially if it was the first ever hair cut.

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 21/12/2008 19:24

It was Ollie's hair she had cut not Henry's but even docile dh said he didn't know how to feel about it. She didn't ask and made no reference to it in any phonecalls we made about the boys.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 21/12/2008 19:50

Muppet, have emailed you and also here is tracking number as well

P4D140573

is with p4d.

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 21/12/2008 19:57

thanks muchly tles

TLESinChristmasStockings · 21/12/2008 20:04

The courier collected it thursday hun, so should have been with you Saturday the latest!

LisaLessLumpy · 21/12/2008 20:32

Not feeling too poorly at the moment or it may just be that the pills I am keeping dosed up with are doing a good job

Me and DH have been Mr & Mrs Grump today, Sam was awake at 5.15 and wouldn't go back to sleep and I woke up with this cold

Just taken us an hour to get Ben to sleep, totally out of character, we usually put him in his cot awake and he lies there quite happily and goes to sleep. Tonight we have had constant crying, sobbing and trying to climb out of the cot or shake it to bits god knows what has gotten into him, DH has managed to calm him down now, either that or the medised has kicked in

Muppet - can't believe your MiL took Ollie to get his hair cut without telling you... very strange

I have been to Mil's today We invited them to ours for Christmas this year but said we weren't doing turkey and jokingly said we were doing beef or lamb for a change... 'brilliant' thought FiL as he doesn't like turkey, 'Oh' said MiL (she is very much a traditionalist) 'but I have that every sunday'... Cue a week later she invites us to hers today, excuse being her daughter and son in law could make it today as they are off to his mothers for Christmas this year.

So I thought well she will probably do a turkey dinner as we weren't. Nope she has done a full Xmas dinner with goose, red cabbage and trimmings and crackers. So I now feel like I can't be bothered cooking Xmas dinner because it feels like I have already had it and it won't be special being only 4 days later. Plus I am cooking goose, albeit a three bird roast but the main bird is still Goose and I was going to do braised red cabbage with it I am just a bit irked and thinking why bother inviting them if she is going to do her own anyway. She can stuff it in the future, I won't bother doing it [stamps foot] AIBU?

Anyhoo I hope I feel better for Xmas Eve/Day because at the moment I just can't be bothered!

Stefka - hope you don't feel too bad

SleepMeNot · 21/12/2008 21:16

Hi everyone - it's Choc here, under another name! I just reinvented myself and this seemed apt. I've read through everything and promptly forgotten everything - you lot can really talk - how do you find the time?! I can barely find the time to log in. Anyway in a nutshell: hope all the people getting the cold are just getting the cold and not the nasty fluey virus we've all had (yuck emoticon), congrats on the scan, Muppet, and congrats too on the pregnancy Heinz (oh and hello. And what DID kill the Sept thread please??).

News from here: not much. We have had a bout of gastroenteritis that R got and kindly passed on, from nursery, plus a lovely round of a fluey type virus that sent us to bed. Term has been busy but is thankfully over. R continues to make sleep an elusive Holy Grail like quest. I haven't slept for over a year now. If she is anything like me, she won't sleep till she goes to school!

Anyway my inlaws descend tomorrow for a week, so HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone and talk soon xx

AllIWant4XmasIsAstrawberrylace · 21/12/2008 22:05

Hello everyone!
I am just recovering from the lurgy, so get well soon thoughts to all of you who are suffering too. I had to get DH to stay home from work for a couple of days to help out with DS - haven't had that bad a cold for years.
Anyway, was good to see all the family (my sisters and mum, and their husbands/kids/friends/partners). We were supposed to be going to see my nan who had her 94th birthday last week, but she's ill in hospital, so I didn't go, hopefully i will go at Xmas as I live close by.
Have a couple of days catching up with mum friends now, and then we are going to see DH's dad/stepmum and mum/stepdad on Xmas eve/day. All go here!
Stefka - hope you are feeling ok
Muppet - glad the scan went well. I would be mad if MIL took my DS to get his hair cut without asking
Dal - are you my secret santa??
Inzi - that's fab about that money
LLL - I would be annoyed about the meal if that had happened to me
SleepMeNot - welcome back!
Hello to everyone else (festive wave...)

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 22/12/2008 08:52

sleepmenot, love the very appropriate name HELLO!!!!!! You have been missed, sorry to hear still no sleep

Muppet I would be FURIOUS if mil decided to get Jane's haircut, TBH she wouldnt ever get her alone so no chance of it happening. What a very strange thing for her to decide to do without any consultation

lll, you are not being unreasonable, is she trying to compete? I am sure your dinner will be nicer

strawberry and everyone else with lurgy!!! hope everyone is better for xmas.

Its going to be a quieter than normal xmas for us my brother and wife are in the Alps and my sis and her boyfriend are of to his family in Ireland. I am really really I have only ever had 1 xmas away from my sis about 8 years ago, so just my parents and grandparents this year....on the plus side it will be easier cooking for 6 rather than 11!!!!! Jane is in one of her grumbly clinging to leg moods today [sigh] so dont think I will get much done!

TLESinChristmasStockings · 22/12/2008 11:42

Hiya peeps,
how is everyone today?
I am great except the last 3 days Zachary has woken at 5am for some odd reason, he is also refusing food during the day grrrr But he is a hot chocolate addict ooppss. He has had 3 explosive nappies they were horrible ewwwwwwww lol.
I am hoping my SS gift is recieved today as I am getting pee'd off at the fact it was meant to have been posted last week monday.

Have been on the phone since 9am to housing benefit, CSA and CTC...all payments should have been in bank saturday and today and none are there arghhh have been left with £12 and i haven't even done my food shopping yet ffs. but have been told by xmas eve it will all be there so i have to do food shopping then oh what fun.

Am also on a guilt trip as I have only a few pressies for Zachary for xmas and loads for Karl, wanted to get Zachary a kitchen but this money not coming through has put paid to that. Karl has 2 big bags of pressies and Zachary has a taggy blanket, a vtech vsmile with bailey bear, an emergency truck (small one) and thats all. I ordered him a trike and telly tubby playset not got them yet so am feeling really crap as he only has a few bits to open.

Also bought 8 face clothes personalised for db's, bil, nephews, karl, zachary and grant they haven;t turned up nor has the towels i bought.
Oh i am not enjoying xmas so far this year.

Sorry for the me me me post.

Hope everyone is all sorted for xmas will be back later when i have gone and found a field to shout in.

StefkaSnowAngel · 22/12/2008 12:50

Ugh TLES what a nightmare!! I woudln't worry about Zachery too much - he is too wee to notice these things. Dareh doesn't have much to open either, might get him something else in the sales.

Dareh had me up at half five today - oh joy.

Ah he just woke up from his nap - back later!

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 22/12/2008 13:11

Yet another quick post to say thank you to my secret santa... it arrived on Saturday but Dh forgot to tell me and put it under the tree ..it was hanging the cards up this morning and seeing one was from my MN chums that alerted me.

and
sleepmenot; Fabulous to see you back, however briefly. Sorry the name is so appropriate. Have a wonderful festive season and sprinkle some of santas seasonal sleep dust over R and I hope you get more time to join us more in the New Year.

...got to tidy up now after Alexs chums Christmas gathering here...[utterly mad for suggesting holding it here emoticon]

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 22/12/2008 13:26

hi all

i braved sainsbury's with both boys today and we survived!!! it was stupidly busy but people were quite good natured so it didn;t matter waiting for things. They had sorted the queuing system out and you had to ask a member of staff to pay and they allocated you a spot in a queue which meant we didn;t queu at all. getting out the carpark was a different story though...

Just cleaned the kitchen as i have the midwife coming any time from 2-4. Henry slept till 9.30 am this morning (floria and stefka put your fingers in your ears ) so he's going to be a bit late for his afternoon nap and may be awake for part of her visit.

Ollie has been an absolute star in helping in the supermarket, helping pack the bags, unpack at home and put stuff away. I said he could have some of his 'ollie wine' (shloer!) later so he's quite excited.

Off up the gym to work on my next assignment later. Dh has checked the statistics side and siad all bar one question that I'd got it right so I'm quite chuffed. Just got the essay to finish now.

Tles -hope the money turns up for you
Sleepmenot- Hurrah! So glad you are back >>

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 22/12/2008 13:27

oh good god woman!!! CHECK your post through before posting next time!!!!!!!

Mine · 22/12/2008 20:45

I'M FREEEEEEEEE!

It was my last day at work today EVER! I can;t believe the nightmare is finally over and i never have to go back there ever again.

The scary part is that i have never been unemployed and i'm not quite sure what to do with myself..............

Hugs and kisses to all those that are not feeling well.

I'm of all those with SS gifts! RL seems ot have got in the way for us with that one... maybe next year i will be less spaced out!

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 22/12/2008 21:19

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 22/12/2008 21:20

OH I do a LOT of baking

Mine · 22/12/2008 21:28

how does it work though Inzi with the whole NI contributions thing....??? Do i have to sign on or what??!
I'm completely at a loss with what i'm entitled to. I feel like i'm in unchartered territory!
I'm such a control freak that not knowing is very strange for me

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 22/12/2008 21:46

Hello all - have just caught up, and have promptly forgotten what everybody said, so forgive me if I leave somebody out!

Mine - I am so glad you've finished now - it must have been awful being in a job you hated. It makes me realise how lucky I am doing a job I like!

SleepMeNot - lovely to have you back - sorry to hear madam isn't sleeping ... you'll get there eventually - promise!

tLES - the only reason I've bought Mairwen anything this year to open is because Rhydian would notice: she's got little things like a small book, or a packet of crayons ... don't worry about it!

Inzi - enjoy your quiet Christmas - we were just the 4 of us last year, and it was lovely as we only had us to please!

Muppet - am and at your MiL ... what is the woman on? I think you are an absolute paragon to put up with her ...

LLL - at your Christmas lunch! Wow! You put me to shame!

Strawberrylace / FT - Get well soon!

Well, I have now had the flu bug, laryngitis, d&v, and now I have a cold ... why me?
I've just come back from scouring the shops (Tesco, Asda, M&S, and a toy shop) for an angel and Joseph costumes for R & M for the crib service at Church on Wednesday ... have found a fairy costume and a halo for M - have had to buy a stripey towel bale which I'll butcher adapt for R's Jospeh costume. Tesco was full of really p!ssed off looking people playing trolley wars ... oh boy!

Am going to go and chill now for a bit ... M's not sleeping terribly well at the mo' - hangover from the bugs she's had!
