Hey everyone,
Jaffacakes - Sounds like Anya realy enjoyed her xmas party
Stefka - Glad you had supply today and as you say, hopefully the school will use you again after the hols ((fingers crossed for you))
Well, just when I thought I'd got away with it it seems I have caught the bug after all , been dashing to the loo all evening. Ah well, i'm just glad Dylans over it.
Our HV refered Dylan to the speech and language therapist so she could assess him for feeding difficulties eg- swallowing/chewing problems. I told the hv I didn;t think he had problems with this but she's totally over the top about these things. Anyway, she came today and it wa actually useful to see her .
She had some interesting things to say. She said he can chew and swallow fine after watching him eat. After asking me about his eating she concluded that he's just one of those babies who is very sensitive to tastes/textures/temperatures of food. She advised to let the high calorie milk take the strain of his weight gain and try getting him used to textures without actually prompting him to eat. She gave me some rubber gum massagers to rub around his mouth to get him used to texture on his gums. She also said to just encourage him to play with the food and have fun. So, a bit like baby led weaning really but a bit more gradual and with less emphasis on actaually eating for the moment.
She also notice he has a slight tongue tie, this is something I asked midwives about when he was very younge and we were having all those bf probelms but they said he didn't have one . I feel a mixture of relief that the bf probs weren't all my fault and anger as if it had been spotted and sorted it could have saved so much worry and hasstle. Ah well, you live you learn. She said it's not too bad and doesn't need 'corrected' now.
Anyway, sorry about the me me me post. Hope you're all doing ok and everyone is enjoying the run up to xmas.
