Oh Alice I am soooo sorry about your heating am hoping you can get it sorted very soon xxx

Felt really shite this morning like I had a hangover so dh took Ollie swimming whilst I stayed (and lazed about) at home. We think Ollie passed his swimming test and he's very excited that the next set off lesson looks at swimming underwater and picking things off the bottom of the pool!

Took a lamp back to Tkmaxx that we bought last weekend that turned out to be incredibly dangerous as when dh moved it the top fell off and exposed electrical wires we were lucky it tripped the fuse box. Still, at least we didn't find a samurai sword secretly hidden

Inzi you sound very happy about your garden and also about ttc. I really feel for you that your op gets in the way am hoping your neck gets better soon though xx

Anyone got any tips for doing something exciting with lots of bits of leftover veg? I have made so mucg soup that we don;t need anymore! I have squash, turnip, parsnip, beef tomatoes and a few potatoes.

I am very excited about secret santa!!!
Thanks crochet for organising it x

alicet · 30/11/2008 19:36

WWAJC you are spot on that we had problems with our heating a few months back. Needed a power flush but spontaneously started working the day the plumber came out . So really it was an accident that was clearly going to happen when it was bloody cold!!!

Crochet yes forgot to say thanks for sorting secret santa. I have just bought mine and I'm really pleased with it!!!

Muppet check out the bbc food website - you can put in up to 3 ingredients for recipes and it gives you a list of recipes. Use it loads. Or I would cook them all together (poss without potatoes) then puree and freeze as a hidden veg pasta sauce for the boys. I often do this when I have lots of veg leftovers - just add some stock and tomato puree and herbs and nice one! I then give to them with pasta and either ham, tuna or prawns etc for a ready made pasta sauce...

Inzi sorry you haven't heard about the MRU yet and it stopped you ttc. Maybe its worth calling your the secretary of the consultant you are under to ask for results? They may not give over the phone but it may prompt them to get an appointment out to you asap!

Well I am not in as foul a mood as I was earlier. We now have 4 fan heaters after dh went to tesco and a gas fire in the front room so the house is actually pretty warm. Just not thinking about how much it costs! And at least I can get on to someone tomorrow to get it sorted. Cooking tea now so will prob be back later xxx

Inzi often MRI results do take a while as its quite a complex scan... Can understand your impatience though so hope you hear soon! x

Ooo those ideas sound great Inzi, and I'm going to check out the BBC website too Alice though cooking them, freezing them and hiding them with pasta and tuna really appeals. This week I seem to have loads left over...

Alice so glad you have heat now it really is crap being cold x

LisaLessLumpy · 30/11/2008 21:26

Sorry about your heating alice. My Aga decided to stop working halfway through cooking lunch for ourselves and friends. There was enough heat in it to finish cooking luckily, but now it is stone cold, so I hope we can get someone out tomorrow to fix it as we have no other cooking source other than the microwave Oh DH has just said he has managed to get it lit again, but god knows for how long, i think we had still better get it looked at, don;t want it going off again on Xmas Eve

Inzi - hope you are feeling better soon, sounds like you need an MOT

Crochet - thanks for the secret santa sort out. I have got my pressie sorted too

itsbeenashock · 30/11/2008 21:31

Mine · 30/11/2008 21:50

We are here for you always.
Hugs to you and i hope you sleep better tonight.

OH Alice!!!deep sympathy..didnt that happen to you last year too? or am I remembering someone else? My brothers boiler has just packed in too; a mate looked at it and told him it would cost £300+ so advised him to call British Gas who charge £145 all inc(call out parts etc)no matter what the problem ..he called them Fri and they came and jury rigged it on Saturday morning and are returning on Tuesday with the correct part to fix it properly...worth a try if it looks like it might be an expensive repair. Hope the mood improves soon ...I find a quadruple double port and brandy often helps combat both the cold and the mood

Inzi sorry about your neck, no fun when you have the dodgy leg too..(as well as the lo clinging to it)..and frustrating about having to wait for another month ... I think you made the right decision though ..and it gives you something to look forward to in the New Year ..possibly an exact 2 yr gap?

EJB ánd Winnie; fab to hear from you both,I think the bear idea is rather cute and it is lovely to hear that Shula is doing so well ...I hope you both will hang about with us all more often.

Mine; our health board computers were on a go wrong slow and we were advised (by the HV) to phone our surgeries if we didnt hear from them at the right time.

J20;congrats on your future aunty-hood ... tell them they need to practise lots with your two!Hope Richie had an ok weekend but missed you as much as you missed him

Muppet;I know what that wait for the 12wk scan is like when you have had a mmc..keeping my fingers crossed for you. I know several women who lost weight in pg (usually through hyperemesis though)... it is probably a good sign that this is a healthy pg greedily using up all your calories (she says creating her own old wives tale )

Breaking news from FT towers...Dh and I went out to the theatre last night (a first in over 14 months!)We had to leave before Alexs bed time Bf...Mum had a little trouble settling him at his usual 8pm but he went down after a second beaker full of jersey milk at 9pm, woke when we got in at 11.15 and relieved me of my discomfort and then...wait for it, wait for it...slept... until 6am!!!!!!!!..what is more after 45 mins chatting to me in bed and bfing he fell asleep again until 8.25!!!!! ....That is another first...the first time I have had 6 hours unbroken sleep in over 14 months!!!
I am a new FT!!!!
I cant hope for a repeat of that again for a while but if he has done it once...[hopeful emoticon]

FloriaTosca · 30/11/2008 22:52

How can you miss a whole page of catching up before writing a post???

Itsbeenashock...so,so sorry...ditto everyone else, counselling defiantely ... whichever one of us you are, and I'm not guessing, we are here for you whenever you want us. (((Hugs)))

Floria -wooo hoooo on the sleep, may it continue!!!

I just had to tell you all though... I am off the AD's, been to see doc, feel great.

Dh and I have decided to ttc now!!! I am on af at the mo and then we're gonna go for it am soooo excited. Inzi and Muppet - hope i'm pg with you

Night all, back soon x

muppetgirl · 01/12/2008 08:39

Hi all

Floria - I am doing the sleep dance right now and hoping it'll be the same for you tonght xx (Sleep dance a bit like the poo dance you know
Your evening o the theatre with dh sounds wonderful x

Alice/Floria - we did the British Gas thing for £145 and had a new pupm fitted and a new fan (Fan alone costs £150) glad we did, yes you have to sign up for a year for a monthly fee but we have piece of mind that someone will come out to fix it (I do sound like the advert I know )

Well, we had an adventourous night. Dh spent most of last night on the sofa in between bouts of running to the loo to be sick and having awful diarrhoea. Oliver woke up at 1am crying as he'd been sick all over his bed so there we were sorting out sick off of bedding and putting it on to wash...we all woke up at 7 45am which is unheard of in this house. Dh still in bed though, Ollie bounding around like a new born lamb so I will be tearing my hair out with him by mid morning no doubt.

Just a thought Floria + WWAJC (any other 'near manchester' mums?) Dh and I are staying in the Hilton Deansgate for 2 nights, doing xmas shopping at the lovely market and hopefully going to see a show from friday 19th -sun 21st do you fancy meeting up for coffee?? I won't have the children as they are at Grandma's (without me so I am calm) just a thought, let me know.

love to all
xxx

FloriaTosca · 01/12/2008 09:31

Crochet; Got your Secret Santa message thanks and am now hunting for the right gift.

LLL;Hope you get the aga sorted, as you say, the last thing you want is a repeat performance at Christmas.

Muppet; Sorry to hear your dh is poorly, sounds like Ollie is over it quickly enough though. Thanks for the sleep dance we had a pretty ok night, waking at 12.30-1 and 4-4.30 but not geting up until 7.30 so I'm happy enough. I'm definately up for a meet up ... shame the crackpot mil will be having the boys though ... barely ever go into the city centre myself so it will be an education..we got totally lost on Saturday trying to find parking for the Opera House, the old street where the multi story ncp place was has gone and a whole new shopping square called Spinning Fields (with an outdoor ice skating rink at the moment ) has been built ...
WWAJC are you up for it?

Morning ladies,

Muppet - sorry you had a bad night, hope everyone feels better soon.

Floria - lol at the fact a whole part of town had changed as you hadn't been there for so long, sounds like me when I lived in Newcastle!

Alice - sorry aobut your heating it was freeeezing last night, glad your dh got heaters! Thankfully my fil is a heating engineer and he lives on the next road, he als ftiied our whole heating system with dh and our gas fire. We are very lucky as if we ever have a prob he's straight round. I can't imagine being without my heating, I was sat on the sofa with a duvet last night and the heating was on!!! That britis gas thingy sounds quite good though, problems with boilers can be expensive, sometimes new parts can cost almost as much as a whole new boiler anyway

We (me, dh and mil) went to a place near hear called Gallashields yesterday, it's not that far away but takes about an hour to get there as the road is very wiggly and up and down.

There is a masive tesco and asda right next to each other and they are both 24hr, even on a sunday they were open till late, one till 8 and one till 10.

We had a lovely day (I know it sounds boring but Berwick only has a Morrisons and an Aldi), the scenery was gorgeous on the way there, all frosty and wintery and we got some lovely xmas pressies.

I also got a new winter coat as I've been wearing the same on for about 6 years and it has lost 2 buttons and is too small, I look like i've been poured in to it!!! (I do have other coats but this is my casual, everyday winter coat with a hood), anyway, I got a lovely cosy brown one from adsa.

The weather here is dreadful today, not at all the wonter wonderland we had yesterday but all wet and blustery

Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, back soon, time for the little mans milk x

FloriaTosca · 01/12/2008 10:52

Dal; Thrilled that you are off the abs and feeling so good and excited for all of you pg or ttc again ...more than a little too...I can't understand Dh loving Alex so much but not wanting to have another.

Inzi; sorry not to be of much help..if it is teething then surely a dose of calpol before be should help? I know that half of Alexs problem stemmed from me letting him fall asleep on the boob (though I havent let him do that for over 6 months)so he couldnt get back to sleep without feeding and he preferrs sleeping in my bed too... I think in our case he is finally accepting that he is always going to be put down awake in his own bed ...If you think this might be the problem with Jane then what I do is when he is having a strop and wanting more bf I kiss him, put him down and say "night night", let him scream at me for 30 secs (by which time he is standing anyway) pick him up and and repeat, then 60 secs and repeat, then 90 sec and repeat etc etc..we have in the past got to as long as 5 mins between pick ups this way (28mins of solid screaming!.. with me crying as much as him ..counting out all those seconds is what keeps me sane and helps me hold out for just 30 secs more each time)...It has taken months for him to accept and of course having said this he is going to give me a week of hell now isnt he?
