muppetgirl · 01/12/2008 11:46

Oliver is bouncing off the walls

Roll on tomorrow

Floria - I don't really know Manchester that well as only go there occasionally but dh does and he was surprised that the NCP you mentioned is now a shopping centre!

This is the last time IL's are having the boys (the only time they've ever had Henry) as it's too much for me to drive 3 hrs there and 3 hrs back. (I could stay but I don't feel comfortable there tbh) They wouldn't contemplate meeting me halfway and they don't come down to visit. Yes the boys will miss out but I can't be doing all that driving whilst prgt. Dh has agreed which is fab as he always used to say 'but the boys won't see their gp's to which I said yes, but that is their gp's choice it may also make them realise that they have to pull their weight with the travelling too.

Dalrymps · 01/12/2008 11:49

Lol floria, Dylan keeps pressing random buttons on the laptop and I don't know what he's pressed but he manages to make it do things I never thought possible!!! Today he made the webpage full screen and it took me ages of pressing buttins to get it back to normal. Little imps indeed.

I am trying to get Dylan an elf outfit for christmas, so far i've seen one on the mothercare site but it's out of stock, anyone seen one anywhere else?

muppetgirl · 01/12/2008 11:53

have you checked ebay Dal? I bought Hnery's spider outfit for Hallow'een off there, it was new and he looked very cute!

I AM IN SHOOCK

ok ladies this is the story.

When my dad was 16 he got a girl pregnant and his dad made them marry, as was the way back then. They had a son and a year later had a daughter.

S the son and T the daughter were not in my dads life from when S was 6/7.

When i was 15 i managed to contact T who was then 25. She and I agreed to disagree regarding my dad. And that was that.

I have just opened my emails to see i have a message on facebook when I open it it says...

Subject: related

Vaunda , my name is S formerley (our surname) i have been trying to trace my father M but unfortunately have found out he passed away in 2003, after searching i have found you and some photos on line showing you with a tattoo on your arm showing the date he passed away and also a wedding photo .I am certain that we have the same father and would love to find out more about him and his life .I lost contact with him at around the age of 6/7 and the memories i have of him are very vague ,i do remember a lady called P who i now know he married in 1972 and her daughter N .I hope me contacting you isn't too much of a shock and that you and /or your mum P can help me,
as i say i would really just like to find out more about him and his family and would not want to cause any one any distress. You can contact me by email at
Regard S

Now I have replied to him but i am totally totally in shock!!! I put in the email that I never expected to hear from him and whilst it was a shock i was pleased. do you think this is ok?

FloriaTosca · 01/12/2008 12:53

tLES; How lovely that your half brother got in touch and what a shame he didnt do it years ago...I assume his sister didnt tell him you had been in contact, or perhaps he was of the same mind as her at the time, (youth a a whole being very unforgiving). I did a lot of research on my family history (nothing so recent as siblings though)with genes reunited and it has been a delightful experience getting in touch with distant cousins and finding a few skeletons in the closet. I hope you find you get on well.

Muppet; we didnt get chance to explore but when we turned off Quay St onto Gartside St the street was suddenly only 20yds long and ended in a huge glass building with a private underground car park! Talk about shocked! I then realised that it is over 2 years since I was last there ....another shock..I used to be there every few weeks! Last time was to support my friend conducting Jerry Springer the Opera, a pretty rubbish show but at least professionally produced and performed ...on Saturday night it was an Ellen Kent production of Carmen which was precisely the opposite...a friend had bought me the tickets as a thank you for singing at her wedding, I really enjoyed being out with Dh but wish she had saved her money...you can get half decent seats at Covent garden for the same price and get to watch the show performed well...oops...better get of my soap box ..sorry ...
Alex is due his lunch now , I'll be back later.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/12/2008 13:05

FT Maybe he was of the same mind..i have to say I know I vowed never to talk to her again as she was very rude about my darling dad. S was then 26 (approx). I am really shocked and kinda numb I guess because it is such a shock....will keep you all posted.

xx

Dalrymps · 01/12/2008 13:19

Thanks for the outfit suggestions ladies. Muppet - that one is lovely but he is only in 6-9 and very few 9-12 month clothes at the moment...

Floria - that on is perfect, saw it myself last night but not sure if it's going to go for more than I want to spend . I'll keep a watch on it.

Les - (((hugs))) Hope you get things sorted once the dust settles.

LisaLessLumpy · 01/12/2008 17:46

Gosh, you've all been chatty again can't type at the min of I have ben climbing all over me trying to shut the laptop and then trying to kiss me whilst hammering me on the head with the plastic hammer will try and catch up later...

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 01/12/2008 18:03

Such a busy day today. Went for check-up with the neurosurgeon this morning who says Anya is fine and can be discharged. All we have to do is make sure she doesn't get overweight through childhood as that can lead to spinal problems as an adult. Luckily she's already got a very slim frame.

Then we went to a local pottery cafe (thanks for recommending it FT!), which was great. They have a soft play area - Anya particularly liked the ball pit. We did a mug with handprints on for dh for Christmas. Only thing was it's not a professional job and I did her handprints myself so they did come out more as splodges than hands. Never mind - I'm sure it will look very cute when glazed. Then more Christmas shopping until madam got tired and fed up.

Muppet - well done Ollie with his swimming test.

Muppet/FT - Would love to meet up again. Didn't know spinningfields has an ice rink!!

Inzi - hope you hear back soon for your results.

Crochet - yes, thanks for sorting out Secret Santa. The rest of you are so organised getting your presents already!

FT - wow, congrats on your evening out and your 6 hours sleep. That must be an incentive to go out more often!

Dal - glad you are off the ads and feeling much better.

LES - crumbs, not surprised you're in shock - but in a nice way? Hope it works out well.

muppetgirl · 01/12/2008 18:23

Have just done the best bath with both boys ever! I'm not sure who was the wettest, dh me or either boys as they took it in turns splashing us. It was lovely to see them playing together and having so much fun!

I read Henry his story and he now turns the page when you ask him and LOVES his books. He talks to the books and points at everything, our favourite is Hairy Mclary and Zachary Quack.

Floria - I can imagine a night at the opera is a busman's hoilday for you! But still lovely to have an eveing out with your dh. Is your dh a musician also?

WWAKC - so pleased for you re the neurosurgen's app. Fab news for you all x

Tles - I think it's great your half brother has got in contact, I get the impression you;re pleased? I think your reply was as good as he could expect, well better as you could have not replied or told him to take a hike. I would take things v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y though xx

crochetdiva · 01/12/2008 20:51

Wow, you lot have been chatty!

itsbeenashock - I won't guess either - you'll tell us if you want to. Big hugs to you!

Anya's mum - I am so pleased for you all - isn't that just the best news!?

hmmm ... knew there was something else I had to say ... oh yes, I have a confession

I still feed Mairwen to sleep every night ...

but, in my defence, when I'm not here for bedtime (which isn't that often, but often enough!), dh is happy and able to give her some ebm in a cup.

Right - I am getting an early night tonight - I meant to last night, bt the Audible site was so slow...

Night all!

itsbeenashock · 01/12/2008 21:39

Thank you Ladies, I'm sure that it wont be hard to guess, probably by process of elimination...I am still trying to get to grips with everything at the moment.
I have been trying to keep up with you all, but nothing is sinking in at the moment, Just so you know, I don't know what i'd do without you all

Woooozle100 · 01/12/2008 21:58

congrats to Inzi and Muppet. I am lagging behind on this thread somewhat aren't I? All the best to you also Dal. Don't spend yr evenings on here Up them stairs lady

My goodness have all the oct piggies turned into rabid hogs or is it just mine? (Er my joel that is sorry to mine not meaning you!)
He struts round the house like a little chicken looking for stuff to climb / destroy / displace / eat/ I really don't know what's hit me! Just the word no sends him rolling on the floor, screaming and stropping. And I try not to use it all the time - like only when he's on all fours on the coffee table looking at me like 'yes and yr problem is' - or pulling his sister across the carpet ala fred flintstone

Hey ho. he can be kind as well. Oh but he's ill and crabby at the moment.

Oooh I did the bear thing - only off dd tho - not cheap are they? Am far to tight to get me mom the two She will love Angel Monkey v much tho (that's our nickname for dd. So I got a monkey and er dressed it as an angel) Got the laughing noises in the belly and am going to customise even further by sewing on some of dd's hair i saved after her last haircut. MIght as well go the distance eh?!

Right must go and pack cos dd in hospital tomorrow for few days cos she's getting a peg. Will pop back at weekend. Big wave to everyone x

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/12/2008 22:24

OMG I am meeting him on saturday at 11am he is coming to my house god i am scrared, excited nervous...and anything else you can think of!!!!!!!!

muppetgirl · 02/12/2008 10:04

yes I'm pregnant and hormonal (plus was very sick in the night so feeling ick and tired) but was I being unreasonalbe here?

Just phoned the midewife again as she hadn't rung and was told she wasn't in the office so they took my details. She has just rung saying that she left a message on my mobile. I said I hadn't given them a mobile number so I didn't understand what mobile number she rang. She said she got it from my surgery (?) I said I left a number (which the 1st lady I spoke this morning read out to me so I did leave it) She then said the first app she could make was mon 22nd dec as she was away on hoilday the week before. She asked if that was okay and I said, well it'll have to be. She said the app would be between 11-1 to which I said that if she could make it at 11 that would be okay as i would have to feed both my children at 12. She said she couldn't guarantee she would be there at 11 as she an app at 10 (they can last 1-2 hours, + travelling time there was no way she was going to get to me by 11) I said that wasn't convienient to which she got kind of funny, so I said I couldn't accept an app to discuss something I feel quite strongly about as I wanted to ask for a c-section as I had 2 previous horrendous births with 2 children in the house nearing lunchtime, 1 of them being a baby. She then said the app doesn't generally last over an hour (I said I was just going by the time guidlines of 1-2 hrs on the letter but she just talked over me) and that she could say yes or no to a c-section that she would just be referring me to a consultant. All of which I knew. She then said, well what time can you make? I said the afternoon, she said 2-4. I said fine. She wanted to have a morning app to fill up her diary an didn't listen to me when I pointed out I had 2 children at home and she would be arriving round lunch time.

I just HATE anything to do with midewives, consultants and anything to do with giving birth. I have a feeling we ar going to have to fight and awkward to get anything that we want if this 1st app is anything to go by.

muppetgirl · 02/12/2008 10:06

bearing in mind my 1st app was this friday 5th dec and the earliest she could do was the 22nd???

FloriaTosca · 02/12/2008 11:24

No Muppet YANBU but if your mw is anything like mine she could have just got in from attending a home delivery or an SS case or a new mum with pnd and not have her thinking head on properly ...not an excuse for her being insensitive and self concerned but just trying to give you another prospective when yours is as you say tainted with sickness, tiredness and hormones (((hugs))) My MW was actually lovely 99% of the time but on a couple of occasions was "off" with us on arrival but perked up after my Mum had made her a cuppa and she had relaxed a little after a harrowing visit before mine.

darn ...wanted to reply more but someone is stirring... back later

FloriaTosca · 02/12/2008 12:18

Ejb;I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a tear away...I need eyes in the back of my head! Good luck tomorrow at the hospital, hugs to your dd, please excuse my ignorance, but what is a peg and what is it for? Whatever it is I hope it does the trick and she recovers quickly.
Muppet, meant to say about your earlier post..books!...omg does Alex love them too..the only time we have quiet and stillness is when he is on my knee demanding "boo(k)!" faves are "Hairy McClary from Donalsons dairy", "One Ted falls out of Bed" and "Ten Tiny Tadpoles" ...oh and "cat" which he calls "meeow!"..I know them all pretty much off by heart

Well here the north wind doth blow and we have had SNOW! Totally snowed in all morning.. a 4x4 owner couldnt get up the hill (and so abandoned their car across our drivewaynot that we could have got up the hill either but are they going to move their vehicle before we need to get out when it thaws?)..Talkfirst cancelled...Dh working from home...Alex (wrapped up in his snowsuit) and I had a fab 40 mins in the garden making a snowman, throwing snowballs for Thane and making snow angels before we got too cold and wet and the dog got too giddy (boy does that dog love snow!!!)Hope everyone else is having a fab day.

muppetgirl · 02/12/2008 12:37

Floria that sounds like a lovely day with Alex! I wish it would snow here.

I remember Ollie reciting the whole of 'A sqash and a squeeze' by the gruffallo lady. I wished I'd taped it ...

Henry is actually trying to get his knees under his tummy we think to crawl but gets frustrated so he gives up and does something else I'd give it another 2 months and we may have crawling in this house

He's sat banging bricks together and knocking down towers that I build him (whilst being fed banana and sandwiches as it's cold in the kitchen we're upstairs in the living room)

Hi All
Inzi for you for the ignorant inconsiderate friend and at your ex! I hope last nights sleep was better for you...ours reverted to awful, he's already on his second morning nap catching up...alright for somewhile I need to sweep the front steps of slush before I get sued by someone breaking their leg on them.

Ejb; meant to say yesterday that the angel monkey teddy with dds own hair sounds fabulous, what a very special sort of keepsake. Hope dd is ok today.
Tles. I'm sure you will have a really interesting time, I hope you get on like a house on fire..theres a good chance, after all you do share 50% of the same genes but havent had a childhood full of bad (or good)events to taint your relationship like a lot of siblings.

Muppet; Just wondering if in 12 months time there will be room in the bath for 3x the splashing?

WWAJC; Congratulations on getting Anyas discharge papers (metaphorically) that must be such a weight off your mind. Glad the pottery place was good..do they do clay imprints there, I'm thinking of having Alex feet and hands done before they get too big to look cute (still only 3.5s so cute enough for the moment)

Crochet; If Mairwen goes down just as easily with a beaker as with bf there is nothing to feel in the least guilty about, you are both enjoying the closeness when you can but it isnt causing problems when you cant...for me it is a problem because Alex gets into a total strop if hes tired before I finish work or if we need to go out, if I'm not there on demand he is a nightmare.

Itsbeenashock. How are you coping? Have you managed to sort some counselling yet? Thinking of you. (((Hugs)))

Alice; hows the heating?

Choc; You are being thought of... a lot..I know you are busy but pop in if you can and tell us how you and R are getting on will you?
