Hope F is feeling better soon JS!

Could do with you all over here ladies.

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2008 21:32

Poor little F - everything's come at once Hope she picks up soon
FLying visit - hi everyone

Eddas · 13/11/2008 07:49

How is F today js? Poor little thing I hate it when dc aren't well

not much to report here. I haven't done any work in over a week but I feel so much better for taking a week off I can see how nice it'll be in Jan once i don't have to work from home and I can't wait. I do have some hours to make up before then though as over the summer I was really bad It's just with all the things going wrong I couldn't get motivated. No excuse really.

Oh and my luck hasn't ttally changed. Our fridge broke at the weekend so we now have to find £150-200 for a new one yeah right!

NorthernLurker · 13/11/2008 07:52

Oh dear Eddas - is there any domestic appliance that hasn't broken for you in the last year? How long have you had them - Nothing seems to last past about 7 years in the house!

Eddas · 13/11/2008 07:57

not many nl

how old, well

fridge, 7 1/2 years, so not too bad going
oven, no idea as we inherited it on moving, but need to go really!
washing machine, about 5 years maybe? It didn't like the move and was never right after so i wasn't shocked it brokedown!

THe only things left are the freezer, bought when we moved so 2 years old, fingers crossed it lasts a bit longer!

Dishwasher, inherited from my dad, not sure how old but not a disaster if it breaks

Tumble dryer, bought when we first lived together so 7 1/2 years old. It's next on my list of things to breakdown

at least i'm not crying about it all like I did in the summer

Bramshott · 13/11/2008 09:40

Hello all. Sorry to hear about poorly babies. Busy week here and childcare nightmares - argghh!!

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2008 10:12

Morning ladies

Argh!! - to the fridge Eddas - hope you find a new one cheaply somehow!!? Glad you are not crying about it though - progress!!

Don't worry about the clothes pesha, but so sweet of you to have a look for me I've been given a massive bag from DD2's key worker at pre-school so should keep us going for the time being

Going to the funeral of one of DH's mum's friend's husbands (complicated!) today - very sad, he was a lovely man Haven't been to a funeral for 3 three years!!!! Don't think I have any "funeral wear" that fits me either!!?

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2008 10:13

How's poor F today JS?

How's it going SOL? Your mum still looking like she'll be home Monday? I really hope so

NorthernLurker · 13/11/2008 11:02

Eddas i meant to say nothing lasts over 7 years in my house - but am relieved to see it's the same for you!

What about this? Don't know what the make is like but the price is ok?

Eddas · 13/11/2008 11:23

oh no bramshott, hope it got sorted

CD, yep not crying is progress

NL, thanks for the link, when we moved we bought a big freezer so we don't need the combo one, that's what's broken, but now i'll get a big fridge. We looked into them at the weekend but realised we have a little breathing space as dh has a beer fridge so the beer's been chucked out and the milk etc is now in residence It's cold now so his beer can be stored in the dc's playhouse outside!

shouldbepackingpesha · 13/11/2008 11:37

Just got half way through writing a post and laptop shut itself down to complete new sodding updates or something

Eddas - have you looked at comet clearance? Its an auction site, they have ex display, cosmetically damaged, end of line models etc. I looked when I needed a new washer drier although ended up buying one from a shop near me that sells same sort of stuff, looks quite good though.

I went for a few years when one of my major appliances broke down every christmas, first was fridge freezer, frideg started freezing things but freezer didnt , the next year the temperature dial on my cooker broke so I had no idea what temp I was cooking things at, then it was microwave I think then food processor although obviously they're not too expensive. Have also had washing machine and tumble drier break recently and it seems my tv is on its way out now, having to have the volume louder and louder just to hear it lately, or is that just my old age Its not been the same since Nathan, at about same age as Dylan is now, climbed up behind it (very large, heavy widescreen tv) and pushed it off the cabinet i was upstairs at the time when I heard the massive crash and raced down thinking the worst to find him stood there looking rather pleased with himself with tv face down on the floor I can barely move it on my own so have no idea how he managed to push it off!! I was quite scared when I found out I was having another boy as I really didnt think I could cope with another one like Nathan but luckily he is much easier!! Still into everything but slightly more calmly and less destructively!!

Electricians supposed to be coming this morning, I was meant to be the first call of the day but they are still not here Dylan will (hopefully) be going to sleep soon so if they're not here before then I'm not going to answer the door because I he really needs his nap and that wont happen with them crashing about. I don't even know why they are coming!

Right have to chase up hosing assosciation now, I am missing a radiator in the living room that they've apparently been going to fit since May Its getting a bit cold now so I may shout be firm with them!

shouldbepackingpesha · 13/11/2008 11:41

I do hope J doesn't read your post Eddas, he would be very of a beer fridge!!!

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2008 11:44

I have a spare beer fridge in my shed if anyone's interested!!?

shouldbepackingpesha · 13/11/2008 12:19

SSHHHHHHHH dammit, I don't have room in my shed for a beer fridge!

Although I do have power up there so it has been discussed!

JellySnakes · 13/11/2008 12:34

Hi all. F is still not great, rough night again. She drank next to nothing yesterday but then took about 12oz of milk overnight, so I felt a little better about that as I was starting to get a bit stressed. She is just having a bottle of milk now (first of the day but it's better than nothing). I had visions of ending up in hospital with her when she wouldn't drink yesterday.
Her poor little mouth is a right state. I have taken an annual leave day today to be at home with her. My mum would have had her, but I just didn't want to be away from her iykwim.

Eddas, I can't believe yet another thing has broken with you. 2009 has got to be a better year for you!

GM, how is Vio doing? Hope mum and baby are doing really well

SOL, hope your mum is doing well and still on for getting home Monday

Pesha, at N getting the TV down! I have one of those type of TV's and I can barely move the thing myself!! It is just so heavy, although I am a bit of a weakling!

I shall be off now, need to eat something and have a cup of tea. F is playing in the toy room. It is lovely to see as she has had very little interest in anything for a few days. I guess she must be feeling a little better, and she has just downed 6oz of milk so I am pleased

Eddas · 13/11/2008 16:31

i've seen that site before on one of my many searches for appliances this year but had forgotten about it. Last time's were more urgent purchases being the oven and washing machine, but given the beer fridge I might have time to wait for the auctions to end. Will take a look in a bit. Thanks for reminding me at N moving the tv, they're extremely heavy! Good luck with the radiator

cd, you trying to get rid of it on the quiet?!

JS, poor little thing, hope she's better asap 2009 should be fine appliance wise since they'll all be in guarantee still even the car is virtually guaranteed til aug!

Been to a soft play party this afternoon, dd invited and ds had to come, crikey do they need a lot of chasing! I'd forgotten just how much effort it takes. ds is a daredevil too, juat like his big sis, I kept finding him on the second level. i'm sure if I hadn't caught him he'd have gone down the huge bumpy slide by himself, probably head first!

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2008 19:31

Oh JS

Maveta · 13/11/2008 19:51

Hello! Have skimmed through quickly so here goes (and sorry for anyone I miss!)

CONGRATS VIO! So so happy for you, welcome little Hannah x

SOL - fingers crossed re. your mum getting out, lovely of her gp to take the time to go and see her. Hope you are all doing ok and you are looking after yourself x

JS - poor babby! That sounds really sore and an ear infection too.. it makes you feel so bad when they are going through it, doesn´t it?

Pesha - what´s going on with you then? Where are you off to? Sorry D´s excema is worse, hope it clears up again soon.

NL - poor B! A lot of babies are in the wars at the moment it sounds like! Got very the other day, dh´s elderly great aunt was grappling at n as she always does.. I know she just wants to cuddle him but you know what toddlers are like and she pulls at him to try and get him to come to her and of course he, knowing his own mind now, pulls away, well she lost her grip and he fell on his face and bit his lip. So much blood! Felt really cross and like I couldn´t really say anything either, think my demeanour said it all though

Eddas - so with you on the [grrr] at things breaking/needing replaced/ costing money. We had the worst start to the year, washing machine broke, car seat broke, found out dh and I both had fines for having accidentally made a mistake on a previous year´s (joint) tax return. Really stupid mistake which cost us about 800euros [ouch] Just said to dh the other day, well maybe when your xmas bonus comes in we might have a little extra cash for a change, seeing as we don´t have anything waiting to pay.

Car went in for a service. THUD. Needs 4 new tires.

THUD.

Sigh. And so we carry on... we have discussed cancelling our scotland trip a few times but it´s our only proper holiday this year and shouldn´t work out too dear between staying with friends and not eating out etc. but still.. well.. anyway... everyone seems to be the same these days, talking about money and things getting tighter. at least we´ve got company, right?

Sexonlegs · 13/11/2008 20:36

Hi loves

JS, do they know what has caused F's mouth to be all ulcerated? Poor love.

Hi Maveta. Poor N All these babies in the wars.

Eddas, I tell you, things are not made to last - not like in the good old days!!

How is everyone? Sorry, my brain is frazzled and I can't remember everything.

K fell over in the bath today poor love. Dh and I were both there, but there wasn't much we could do. Such a shame, as she was being a good girl and coming to get out of the bath but tripped over B and bashed her chin on the side Luckily nothing cut.

runnyhabbit · 13/11/2008 21:08

Evening all

Hope everyone is well.
Busy here - W had horrible cold/cough thing, but seems to be on the mend, and eating more.
Had PTA meeting tonight, and have managed to volunteer decorating the school for the Christmas Fayre.
J is a cow in the Christmas concert, which is called Christmas and the Daleks Some girls are Easter Eggs Anyone thinking it's like the Christmas concert in Love Actually

Take care, and will catch up soon when dh is back

xx

geordieminx · 13/11/2008 21:36

I have been to see baby Hannah.... God she is so scrummy! A tiny wee ball of pink with the biggest mop of jet black hair you have ever seen!!!

I AM NOT BROODY

geordieminx · 14/11/2008 10:18

Where is everyone????

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2008 10:37

I'm here

Awww, baby Hannah sounds yum

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2008 10:39

How is F today JS? x

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2008 11:02

Morning. Also here but mega busy. Had to drop off B, then K and then take one of our cats to the vet as his teeth are all manky. Felt stupidly tearful dropping him off

Now running round like a nutter doing housework - boo hiss!!

Hope all is well with everyone xx
