Morning all - hope everyone survived Christmas - our house looks like a toy shop and round 3 starts in half an hour when my mum gets here with her presents!
After today I will be all bah humbug and be desperate to get the house back to normal!

pigleypudding · 27/12/2008 17:44

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!!

We have had a manic few days visiting our parents but great fun!
Abigail has been well and truly spoilt- The house looks like a Toys R Us store!!
Ive put some pics on Facebook.

Things went pretty smoothly despite the odd digs and comments from my mum.

Ive been reading the BLW book that DH gave me ready for when Abigail hits 6mths. We gave her some green beans and carrots for xmas dinner but she wasnt interested in them and made no attempt to put them into her mouth so guessing she not ready yet anyway.

We have both Families here for a get-together tomorow so been busy getting the house back into some kinda order.

I got loadsa NEXT vouchers for Christmas ( My fav shop!) So going to attempt their sale in a bit... hopefully the main rush will have died down by now.

merrykittymas · 27/12/2008 21:11

Evening all, looks like everyone had a lovely time at Christmas am loving all the facebook pictures, should get off my bum and get ours on there too.

Very busy here as you would expect, house filled with plastic tat, how many little rattly toys can one baby have I wonder? DD2 loves her Hulk it was last seen in the passenger seat of a pink Beetle convertible with Barbie driving and DD1 got enough dollies and pink stuff to keep her happy.

I have thrown it all upstairs now and will have to find a place for it all now (and more trips to Ikea for storage boxes no doubt)

Never did the sales this year couldn't face it, have earmarked a few things in the new Next directory already though.

disneystar · 27/12/2008 22:25

hi all just a real quickie here just added samuels christmas pics on facebook if anyone wants to have a look see
hes on tooth number 2 and boy isnt he letting me know about it

disneystar · 27/12/2008 23:24

just to say tooth number 2 has appeared so he now has 2 very sharp bottom teeth his cheeks are red and number 3 at the top is trying to break through
there like blades of grass just sprouting up everywhere

Poledra · 27/12/2008 23:29

Good grief, Disney, he's determined to get those teeth through fast! Orlaith still has none, though the front of her clothes is always soaking as she's dribbling so much. I thought she'd have a tooth by now, as both DD1 and DD2 has two teeth each by this age.

Glad you had a good time over Christmas

Sarahpo · 28/12/2008 02:03

Greetings I posted an age ago and then decided to withdraw socially (not healthy I know) but we moved to Horsham from Herts when DS was only 6weeks old and it was all a bit of a shock. anyway...there was a lady on this thread from Crawley, W Sussex and i was wondering that if you are still here and would like to meet up in the New Year I would really like that! I don't drive unfortunately but can walk into Horsham Town Centre from where I live...there are lots of nice cafes here i just need some friends to go out with.
Merry Christmas all, its freezing down south..and I have got a rotten cold i hope that DS doesn't get it, isn't it awful when they catch colds and can't breathe or sleep?

disneystar · 28/12/2008 08:26

hi sarahpo welcome back i see your full of the dreaded cold i hope your lo doesnt get it too its a bad one this year
i guess your on about pigley and she is just so lovely

disneystar · 28/12/2008 09:57

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 28/12/2008 12:43

Hi Sarahpo - nice to see you again x

No teeth here, but I'm sure one must come soon...
We are doing great on the blw front - Poppy really liked the roast parsnips and some mature cheddar! Some has actually started getting through to the nappy, but still bfing just as much. Been shopping today and got her lots of things to try.
Got to go now before the house drowns under mess and clutter.

Sarahpo · 28/12/2008 13:50

Hello all nice to be here actually this time I will stick with it as I don't know anyone yet who has a baby same age as mine...DS is eating carrot, parsnip, potatoes and squash very strange to see orange nappy though (sorry if that is too much info) but he has got two bottom teeth they are really sharp

wasn't christmas amazing but didn't it fly by? Suddenly it was 3pm and the day just disappeared

Happy New Year to everyone and if pigley is out there I am here and I am on facebook too so we could message that way and yes here's to meeting new people in the New Year i have finally come out of hibernation!

disneystar · 28/12/2008 20:51

hi all
just got back from hospital again with samuel feels like a second home now
he is very wheezy today and been uncomfortable and restless all last night and today so i took him to out of hours
luckily he hasnt got an infection which we are trying to avoid as if he gets one he has to go in isolation for a long time his immune system is vulnerable and a cold could actually turn into pneumonia easily,it feels like every day is a battle right now
he is very clingy to me and wont let me leave him for a second i cant trick him with toys as soon as i leave his sight he cries but then hes breathless and fights to breathe again its a vicious circle
im going to try to put him in his own room soon but buying a comfy rocking chair with a footstool so if he wakes il be in the chair then the idea is to gradually leave as his confidence grows,or does anyone have any ideas for leaving him in his own room,
ive sang him certain songs since the day he was born so as soon as i sing he is comforted im trying to use different songs for different moods
eg when hes in icu hes semi awake and on breathing tubes if he gets scared even though i cant touch him i can sing the right song
off for a cup of tea now x

merrykittymas · 28/12/2008 21:07

Evening all went to Ikea today and bought a highchair, one of the cheap Antilop ones (I threw away the £100+ M&P monster) and it is fab, got one of the blow up inserts for it and Bethany loves it, she's upright and can see all thats going on. She has a new game of batting toys away for the other two to pick up. It's a cheap plastic bucket with removable straps so it can be completely hosed down and straps taken off and soaked (can you tell I bought this monster thing with white straps that had crevices and was always filthy)?

She's not eating much so far, gave her a crust today wasn't that bothered and some stewed apple, she had about 5 little spoonfuls I'm not too bothered it's all about new tastes at this stage.

Am loving the FB pictures and those hairy babies, B is a wee baldy, I think the darker hair they have the more they have, I think blonded are baldies for a while. Am about to load our Christmas pics so you can all have a nose

Spent 3 hours today finding homes for all the new toys and tidying, tomorrow it will be a bombsite again no doubt.

disney - how is Sam doing tonight?

Sarahpo - good to see you x

disneystar · 28/12/2008 21:13

hi sk samuel has just come back from hospital check tonight as he was to wheezy same as last night,..thanks for asking about him
im going of mn now to see those pics of your girls, and yes blondies tend to be more bald
samuels hair is jet black and as youve seen a big thick bushel of hair thats over 4 inches long now
he has a habit of twisting his hair round and round his fingers and tugging it
but its more of a comfort thing

pigleypudding · 28/12/2008 21:16

Hi all,

Just had both families here for a get together. Pretty manic with so many people crammed into our little 2 bed terrace but good fun. Had everyone playing our new BUZZ game on the PS3.

Disney- Love the photos of Sam.. such a cutey!
Glad you all enjoyed your trip to Butlins
2 teeth already! Abigail has been bit grumpy with her teeth lately, Chomping on everything and dribbling like crazy so dont think it will be long before we see some fangs!
Hope poor little Sams breathing improves
Love song idea..You are very thoughful and Sam is lucky to have such a fab mummy.

Kitty- I have a M+P's monster too! Was given it from a friend but yet to use it really to see how big/dirty/annoying it will be. Looking forward to the pics

Isaidno- Glad the BLW is going well. Im currently reading the book and finding it quite interesting.

SarahPo- Glad to see you back! Yes its me that lives in Crawley and Abigail and I would love to meet up with you
I did post on here for you before Xmas to say I has coming into Horsham that week if you were about, just in case you were lurking on this tread.
Are you on our Mumsnet July babies page on Facebook?

ps- Thanks for the kind words Disney

pigleypudding · 28/12/2008 21:18

Disney- Abigail is the same with her hair..
During a feed she runs her fingers through her hair and holds her head with her hair though her fingers.... Just like Mummy when she goes to sleep!

merrykittymas · 28/12/2008 21:55

pigley - I couldn't believe you had a clip in Abigails hair, I love babies with wild hair so very cute, I always think Abigail looks older than she is probably because of her hair and her great sitting up.

I had B in DD1's room tonight tidying up and she was in the middle of the floor and I could see she wanted a book about 6 inches away, yes she moved somehow and got it, kind of a caterpillar shuffle, am dreading it when she does get proper mobile.

I'm a slattern I just hated cleaning that bloody highchair once B is old enough she will go into DD2's booster seat thing that attaches to the dining room chair (I'm sure you have seen them) I hate falling over highchairs.

Sarahpo · 28/12/2008 22:54

Hello pigley awww i am sorry i missed you and Abigail if you were in Horsham. It would be great to meet up i will take a look at the Facebook pages for July babies and see if I can find you on there otherwise my name is Sarah Elaine Pond (heck i am not worried about anonymity) and I will message you through facebook. I have a rotten cold at the moment but hoping to venture out soon enough!!

Is anyone doing anything exciting for New Year's Eve? bit tricky with a little 'un..

DonutMum · 29/12/2008 09:09

Hi All. Nice to see you back Sarahpo. Hope you and pigley can meet up.

Mum and Dad go back to England tonight but on the other hand, at least I'll get the house back to myself and the routine started up again.

Disney - fab on the teeth front. Not expecting any from L until he's well over a year as DS1 and 2 were 14 and 15 months before getting their first. Having said that, he seems to be really suffering from sore gums so fingers crosed this is n;t going to last fro another 9 months, bless him. He has a cold too - all snotty and pink, bless him. Going to drop his cot down a level today, am worried he's going to start sitting up when I'm not there and fall out!

Off to buy a cheap and easy to clean highchair later - do they exist?! No ikea here.

Right off to nose around Facebook.

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 29/12/2008 09:11

SK - you are so right about the highchair thing. Ours is a posh m and p one, although I bought it 2nd hand. The grot you can find in all the corners is terrible. I am tempted by the Ikea one, might get it and freecycle the posh one!

merrykittymas · 29/12/2008 11:23

isaidno - Lovely pics on FB looks like they had an absolute ball, your boys are lovely as is Poppy who looks like she likes her walker

disney - thanks for your lovely comments and everyone elses too, I am so loving all these Christmas pics you can see the excitement in all the DC.

Little madam was still awake at 11.30pm last ngiht refusing a feed and lying in bed with me shouting and making funny noises, she is at the oh what noises can I make stage, a cross between an Ewok and an Alien. Her eyes are getting better though I was a very naughty Mummy and got eye drops for her on Saturday (not supposed to use them on under 2's but thats what the GP would have prescribed anyway the pharmacist said that but they are not allowed to sell them to me. Gave her half the dose and it seems to be working.

Right am in cleaning and tidying mode today but have promised the DDs I will play Disney Princesses later.

disneystar · 29/12/2008 11:38

on the highchair front i used to have a clever little bag/seat that slipped over the back of the dining chair and danny sat in it its was a bit like a kangaroo pouch and was small neat and handy to take anywhere
cant use any high chair with samuel theres no point as he needs to be semi flat
i have a door bouncer here that someone bought me if anyone wants or would like one unfortunatly samuel wont be able to use one,if not il freecycle it.
me and the boys are making millionares shortbread today so should be messy fun
my house is a tip right now theres colours and drawing books over my table
knights soldiers and castles in the lounge and they are pestering me for my laptop

disneystar · 29/12/2008 14:13

its all back to normal for us here now
Alans back on the road somewhere and if i havnt got enough of my own dc there friends have come to play so quadruple the work..................but its quiet and there no im bored what can i do
debating whether to go to the park or not to run some energy of and thats for the dc not me...
just i have to lug all samuels breathing stuff about and im always weighing it up whether its good for him or not
then feel bad as the others would love a play in the park
i know what id choose put a good dvd on get my duvet out be cosy have a nap and not move unless absolutely neccesary
got to go samuels not a happy bunny guess were staying in

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 29/12/2008 14:28

disney - we've just been out for a walk to the shops; it was busy and the kids moaned at me most of the time - wish I'd stayed in!!
I'd like your door bouncer, please, if you really don't want it. I can pay the postage.

pigleypudding · 30/12/2008 11:57

BBrrrrrr!!! Its Minus 6 here today and i'm frozen!

Took Abigail for her Jabs today. DH is off work so came too. The first time he has been for her Jabs and experienced the screams. Poor little thing.

Spending the rest of the day tucked up warm inside!

Re door Bouncer- Abigail was bought one for Xmas and loves it! However DH prefers to use it as a swing and push Abigail back and forth through the doorway!

Kitty- Abigail is another one who is a noise box! Somedays she just doesnt stop squealing away. One odd noise she makes she sounds like she should be in the film The Exorcist! !
