weMINKyouamerrychristmUS · 17/12/2008 23:11

been lurking for a while guys, just can't find time to post- and I've not even caught up properly on thread, just skimmed.

disney I've just had a few tears reading your post, I so hope little Sam is getting better. Can't imagine what you must be going through- wish we could all give you real hugs instead of virtual ones.

Snot city here too, including major throwing up for L in the night cos he keeps coughing so much . V little sleep being had! But on the plus side I've finished my xmas pressie shopping all bar a few tiny items, can't believe it. Normally still frantic on 24th! Done virtually all of it on line this year, just hope it all arrives.

We're going to a pub for Christmas lunch this year, the first time we've ever been. Will be our family, my sis, her new boyf and my niece and nephew. Quite looking forward to it, although will miss all the leftovers in the fridge (though my waistline won't )

Feeling so festive now! DS wants the carols cd in the car all the time, we're not in the least bit religious but I get so sentimental at Christmas and proper church music with booming organ and a choir makes me all goose bumpy. Will probably go to midnight mass on xmas eve with my mum too so I can have good old sing song and shed a tear or two no doubt!

Deck the halls tra la la noel gloooooooria etc etc

morning all
well samuel slepts in my arms last night and he opened his eyes briefly and gave me a half smile after 18 hours then driftedback of again im sure he did it as i get so distressed but whatever the reason it was lovely he is just sleeping again now,its weird having to change nappies and moisturize him whilst asleep,i dont dress him anymore just vest baby gro,s cardi and hes back in his pram top so he can lie flat.hes going on heart drugs today as he is so so tired its why he sleeps hes just no energy as his heart has to work so hard. im hoping for an improvement once on them.
im always holding hand and every now and again he will close his fingers round mine
as if to say its ok im here
poledra yes i was on a thread im lettin out my touring caravan free for holidays or breaks next year, if people like camping its great but inside
we wont be using it except to face lift it ,its gettin on a bit now.
its 15 min from bude set on a rural very rural area with views of dartmoor
all organic fresh supplies from the farm and very hands on ,wildlife and animals for the children and not hyped or high tech we love it there
anyone interested tell me, its just i was on a thread and there were moms who had never been away with there dc,s
time is so precious to me now i never realised that before,
i like camping but the hassle of the tent or it always rains then you have probs
its a 21ft tourer and old but works perfectly,
im rubbish on here at links but go to
www.southbreazleholidays.co.uk and you can see the settings and area
car is a must
please not for its not for people who like an easy life eg sunbeds and provided things
but if you want to muck in with the chores get back to a bit of basics enjoy open air meals or inside ,ditch the sky for a weekend ,its a 15 min drive to bude which is lovely
wow i sound like an advert
if anyone wants to know more let me know and il try to help
you have to pay for site use

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 18/12/2008 07:48

disney - sorry to hear about poorly sam. Hopefully the drugs will help keep him strong until he can have the heart op. Big hug xx

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 18/12/2008 09:34

Libralady - afaik iron stores begin to run out around 6 months. Breast milk contains low levels of iron, but it is a kind which is easily absorbed by the baby. Most formula milk has added iron, esp the follow on types, so no need to panic about a baby getting iron from food.
IMO the "iron runs out at 6 mths" idea is one encourage by the baby food manufacturers to get you to buy their follow on milk and their puree beef casserole etc.

cass66 · 18/12/2008 10:27

Disney you are so strong. Sam is so lucky to have you as a mum, just as much as you are lucky to have him. I am always amazed and humbled at how you cope and are so postive yet accepting, and that you share this with us. He sounds a little star.

What do you need to organise? it sounds like Sam needs your hand to hold. can the older ones help, or just be a little less organised this year.

I'm sure you know what I'm saying in my clumsy way.

best wishes, Cass

minipinkscottish · 18/12/2008 11:05

Thinking of you and Samuel Disney xx You are a wonderful person and a great mum xxxx

Sorry...major rant alert

Some you may remember that due to dh's refusal to have snip I went back on pill....well at end of last week put in note to doc for repeat prescription...by Tues still no script so contacted docs and was told by receptionist that I would not get a script until I saw the nurse for a pill check and that I was to come today at 10.10am....I was mad as thought it daft that after being on the pill on and off for over 20 years this was the first time I had been asked to do this...considering I see doc regularly with PND and that I have never had high blood pressure in my life!!!!! Anyway today I set off for docs in pissing rain and with Abbie in buggy and ds4 walking. It's about a 20 minute walk....great in good weather but it is blowing a gale......then raincover blows off and i have to wrestle with it while trying to hold onto buggy and ds who is crying because the rain is stingy[fsda]....eventually I get there at 10.20am and am told I may not be seen as I am late so I wait and am called...ds4 misbehaves very badly in room and I get stroppy with nurse...but she agrees that it is daft that a script could not just be issued but that it is NEW policy.....AND blood pressure is fine and I get script Then nurse says that it will all change again when chemists start giving out pill and thee wont be so many check at docs.....OMG STRESS {FSAD}....wet, cold, miserable and {Fangry}....Oh and last comment from nurse on leaving was " have a good christmas and try to calm down...have you tried alcohol?"

Sorry for rant....going away now for hot chocolate

disneystar · 18/12/2008 11:30

disneystar · 18/12/2008 11:32

mini sorry forgot to say poor you know i would of been stressed by this time
you went all through that and they could of just done it in the first place

shortshafe · 18/12/2008 23:02

disneystar - hope you have a fab time away with your brood over xmas, enjoy every minute and throw organisation to the wind, sometimes the spontaneous unorganised stuff is the best! You and Sam are in my thoughts all of the time - you're so so brave.

Minipink - that would have made me seriously too!

LibraLady - good luck with the job hunting, my hubby works for the big yellow digger people so we've been lving with the threat of redundancy for 6 months now - waiting to see what January brings! I agree with Isaid about the iron thing, you can get vitamin/iron drops for babies though, if you're worried.

Nothing interesting to report here, think I'm fighting off a bug or something as am bone tired all the time! ZZzzzz

hubarbspong · 19/12/2008 02:14

Hi all,
Sorry have not had the chance to look in at all. Sorry to hear that many of you have had nasty bugs. Skylar had a (my) cold a few weeks ago, a few projectile incidents and a very snotty wee lassie for a week but fully recovered now. Reflux is well under control, just a smidge of losec once a day and gaviscon in her feeds, much better than domperidone and ranitidine.
Had her weighed today, 8.2 kg and 68.4 cm, both vitually 98th centile (22 wks), so she is really thriving, such a happy wee soul.
Was back home two weeks ago and had a really nice christening in our local kirk and a wee do for family and friends at a local hotel, really nice( although nearly mooned the whole kirk when my kilt slipped a bit (lost a fair bit of weight )).
Two complete rolls and spends much of her time on her baby gym either trying to eat the hanging bees / butterflys or poking herself in her face when looking at her fist too closely while laughing.
Started looking at baby porridge etc for next month, draining 4-5 7oz bottles of Aptamil hungry baby milk per day.

Anyway, enough from me.

Wishing you all the best for the festive season and may santa fill yer stockings!

bebeJINGLEjones · 19/12/2008 15:12

Just checking in!

Disney give Sam a big hug from me & slobbery kisses from Phoebe, thinking of u xx

Arm/Hand getting worse all blood tests were normal. Doc says it is ( let me get this right) Cervicalgia with a C 7 & 8 Paracethesia (sp?) basically sciatica but in my neck instead of sciatic nerve!! Have had to refer myself to physio coz they have a stupid self referral system. Physio has insisted on me having a neck xRay, which is next Tues then got physio following monday! Have no feeling and practically no movement in my hand...nightmare doing nappies one handed, esp pooey ones!

P on the other had is fantastic, proud mummy alert, when on her front she is making serious crawling attempts and can push herself along with both legs at once...not quite got crawling action yet, SO cute!! Gave her a lick of smooshed banana off my finger yesterday and she dribbled and got v excited, want to hang off til 20 weeks though so just over a week. She isn't hungry or not sleeping but fascinated with food and watching us eat so think it might be time to see if she is ready?!

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 19/12/2008 19:32

Started weaning this week - sort of!
Poppy has sucked a carrot, licked a toast crust, mushed some broccolli in her fingers and licked some fromage frais off a spoon (and dribbled it back out!) Not sure how quick she should get used to this blw lark, but it's early days. I think I will certainly stick with it - the thought of pureeing is too much bother!

bebe - hand thing sounds terrible, hope the physio sorts it out for you xx

RumpeliciousChristmasWishes · 19/12/2008 20:35

Evening all,

DISNEY - have a fab time - enjoy all your lovely family and have a huge love-in Big hugs and x to all of you.xxx

HUBARB - tell your good lady hiya and have a great Chistmas.

BEBE - the physio will sort you out and they are quite right to get an xray to see if there is anything to see/be aware of. Take it easy after your treatment and dont rush things.xxx

I gave Calvin a bit of banana in one of those netty things yesterday and he loved it - sucked it all away, then I gave him a bit of pear in it and he sooked it until it was just fibre left He is still really mucousy and with a bad cough so not eating too much although he had some rush today - he loved that - was all smiley.

Poor DH came home form work early today with runny bum and nausea the bugs doing the rounds just now are awful.

Made mince pies today (with mincemeat made from raisins, cranberries, apricots and tropical fruit in peach shcnapps, some with marzipan lids) yum. Also brownies but used wholemeal flour so they were too dry . Amber enjoyed helping but she has been terrible hard work the last week. She is so whingy and moany - argggg! Threw a tantrum in Morrisons today grrrrr she is really doing my box in just now.

Anyway am off to relaz for a bit nite all and take carexxxx

TINSELJuice · 19/12/2008 22:18

Anyway Bethany is fine as rolly as ever, leave her under the baby gym for a minute and she's off middle of the floor before you know it. Madam think she thinks she can see whats going on better, I'm sure she wants to be held upright all day so she can nose.

Still planet snot here including B these bugs sure are wiping everyone out.

Rumpel - I'm with you on the whingy weans, your mince pies sound yum think I will be buying them this year

isaidno - Poppy has done well, loved the pics, very early days though, I always think you think they haven't eaten anything much until you find the "evidence"

Tjuice - x-posts enjoy your time back home and being spoiled

CilC · 19/12/2008 22:37

Hi everyone just popping in to wish you all a merry and safe christmas! Have family coming from Oz for Xmas and have been so busy finding room for them all!
Raff's colic all but gone now and he is enjoying his solids. Can not believe how easy and straight forward it has been for him - he is a born eater!!!

Disney have been thinking of you and sam...take care.

Rafferty was sent a little Santa outfit today... had to put him in it! What a laugh! Xmas really is all about them isn't it!

Best wishes to you all!

cilcxxxxxxxxxxxxx

shortshafe · 19/12/2008 23:52

Kitty - look after yourself, I know that's a bit of a joke cause xmas is sooo much work, but you seem really low and need to be taking care of you! ((hug))

Re weaning - Isaac dribbles madly whenever he sees food now, always reaching for whatever we have!

I'm awake 'cause the weather is AWFUL here - rain and gale force winds - just waiting for the roof to lift off!! (crosses fingers and touches wood)

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 20/12/2008 08:39

Morning all. Not been around much lately, been really poorly, had the D & V thing, and a rotton cold and a mad cough, and with all the stuff going on I've strained a muscle in my shoulder and it really hurts to pck Sam and Oli up! oh woe is me!!!! And I;ve been a really Terrible Mother throughout (been ill about a week) as I've just done the bear minimum and even put DS1 into nursery an extra day.

Having a christmas party at our house today, am really looking forward to it. Not taken much planning, just got in a load of frozen stuff [dblush] and DH has made a scrummy curry, which smells delicious. I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends in one place. It's been ages.

Shortshafe Gosh, wasn't the weather terible last night! I was in bed by 8.30, but got woken at 10.30 by DS1 and I was so surprised at the noise!

SK Cheer up hon, hope everything is OK? you sound so down. Sending you big virtual hugs.

Disney Enjoy your holiday, sounds lovely, and what a brill thing to do!

bebe Hope they can sort your arm out, it sounds painful.

Sam has started BLW with gusto (is 24 weeks) he gets really cross if anyone has anything to eat and he hasn't got anything! Not that he eats much but he enjoys playing with the food! His nappies have't changed much(Rumpel that netting sounds great, might have to get one of those) He Sounds very much like B SK he rolls about the floor so fast, gets from one side of the room to the other quick smart, and is very happy standing up! Loves his door bouncer. He can also now sit unaided for about 5-10 mins. I had a little cry yesterday when I put him in the next size sleeping bag, (0-6 got too small) another thing to pack away to sell on ebay )

shortshafe · 21/12/2008 00:02

JODIE - hope the party's going well

merrykittymas · 21/12/2008 08:54

Morning everyone thanks for your kind words, things just a bit up in the air right now, feel a bit better today as had an OK sleep (up 3 times with B) and don't have that much of a headache today, if I am upset or tired I always get migraines had one for about 3 days just keep it at bay with drugs.

Anyway I am imposing a ban on myself going into Woolies as I keep seeing bargains for the DDs and buying them wrapped up a load of presents last night which always cheers me up as I cannot wait for the DDs to open them.

Jodie - your party sounds fab, don't worry about the frozen stuff I am doing a bit of that on Boxing day for the inlaws, see I am the foodie in our family and I think if I out out a nice cheesboard for example they wouldn't touch it (they are from the cheese is cheddar brigrade). They are so fussy, won't touch salmon or beef so I am having a very basic buffet (with some nice things for me) Don't worry about the terrible mother thing I think we all go through it (I did for most of my pregnancy) Disney DVDs are a godsend.

I think B is very close to needing food, she is nursing more and wanting two sides most of the time, I am feeling like I don't have enough for her now and is doing a lot of the watching food thing. She's 23 weeks on Tuesday

bebeJINGLEjones · 21/12/2008 10:20

Feeling really with DH and need to vent...sorry!

He went out to work xmas party last night. When I spoke to im he said he would be home no later than 11.30. I put P to bed (in her own room for first time in her cot, she was a star and slept right through) and really struggled all evening coz of the stpid hand/arm. At 11.40 DH still not home, so I went to bed thinking he wouldn't be long. An hour later he shows up(I am still awake, partly worry bout him and also on edge coz P in her own room) I get up...he is Bolloxed! He is given duvet to sleep on sofa, I go back to bed & DH still manages to keep me awake til gone 3 by running to toilet to be sick every 5 mins. Bathroom is devastated this am, and I am left to deal with it and look after P while he slopes up to bed. Am SO mad!!!!!!

Sorry to winge just needed to let it out!
