Can you tell I travel alot/used to be an air hostess!

JODIEhadababy · 03/12/2008 15:43

Oh, and try to make sure he's feedig/got dummy during take off and landing, it will save his ears. If he does get ear problems, the best thing to do is let him cry, will relieve the pressure,

AND (sorry) take calpol on with you, but remember to only buy 100ml bottle, or the individual satchets, anything bigger won't get through security

cass66 · 03/12/2008 20:26

Hi girls (and fantastic Grandma!!).

Feeling slightly more ready for xmas now, have got maybe 2/3 of my presents, still not sure what to buy DD2 though. Ed is getting a new drinking cup and feeding bowl (in blue!). will prob get him some rice cakes etc. more so the girls see that he gets pressies from santa too!!

I have given in and started Ed on baby rice for the past 3 days. just once a day, currently with banana mixed in, but will add veg/other fruit. He's really enjoying it. He'd been chewing his tongue and feeding nonstop for a few weeks. He is 21 weeks now. I'm not trying to justify myself, but it's odd going against the tide of general advice.

Been to see 'the Changeling' today at the local baby screening. very good film, quite harrowing and watched most of it standing and swaying! And it's a long film!!

I'm also starving at the moment. I don't know whether it's me being greedy, or Ed demanding more. I like to think it's the latter!!! I've had a pass to the posh leisure centre for a few weeks and have been back on the treadmill. it feels good to exercise again, and Ed goes to the creche quite happily. Good thing really, as I'm back at work in Feb, and he'll be in nursery for 2 days.

love to all...

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 03/12/2008 20:40

Congrats Granny Disney!
Donutmum- bad news.
McChesers- hoorah; flat sold!!

I put my Christmas tree up last night so I am feeling more festive. Still got to get all the other tinselly tat out though!

DH still off work after his vasectomy; he's on huge antibiotics as it seems his bollocks are now infected. Please, if any of your DH's are thinking of having a little snip don't tell him about all this.
Poppy's cold is much better and she has been feeding really well as if to make up for a few days when she couldn't do it properly.

As for best bits, I love kissing her head with her fluffy hair tickling my nose.

Re; Christmas pressies - Poppy has got lots! Partly so the DS don't think she's been naughty!! But also cos I like to buy her things! Her main pressie is this but she also has some rattles, a bath toy, some cutlery, some baby books and some other little bits!

NotanOtter · 03/12/2008 21:02

wnt to clinic today - a woman there was shocked and started telling all the other mums that N was only 4.5 months she said he looked a year????

everyone says he is big and yet he weighs 14 lbs 13 oz and is on the 25th centile

he is on 50th for height

hv would NOT let me wean...said as he sleeps the night he absolutley does not need weaning

hmmm not her soley sustaining an indidivdual whilst racing round after 5 others!!!

very selfish rant will read thread now!

cass66 · 03/12/2008 22:06

is that 'jumperoo' good? anyone any experience of it? It looks fun, but seems to take up lots of space. but the idea of being able to put Ed down for a while is tempting, he doesn't seem to like being on his babygym for more than 5 mins at present. He's such a velcro baby who refuses to sleep during the day!!

sweetkitty · 03/12/2008 22:51

Evening all well what a day for babies, first DD1's nursery teacher had a baby boy this morning, then Disney's DD congratulations Grandma disney, then my BF had a baby boy at 5.55pm tonight as yet no name. Poor thing ended up with a csection afterall but all is well, can't wait to see him, he will seem tiny compared to Bethany.

Otter - don't think N would look a year, at a year they have teeth and are wither walking or just about to, people are strange! On the weaning subject there was a poll last night about weaning and sleep and did it make any difference there was one yes and the rest were nos, IME it doens't make a jot of difference either they are good sleepers or they are not.

isaidmistletoe - ouch your poor DH, I hope you give him a (tiny) bit of sympathy

mcchesers - good news about the flat and not long until your home, about the MIL situation

donutmum -so sorry to hear about your DH's gran sad trip home now

Right off to bed now

minipinkscottish · 03/12/2008 22:53

NotanOtter at HV - would not LET you wean? We don't live in a nanny state even though some would like to make it so....you are mummy.....oh some hv's make me so Understand the sleeping bit...my dc's usually started to wake in night when it was time to wean but does that mean that if your dc always sleeps all night that you don't wean for a year?

NotanOtter · 03/12/2008 23:29

thanks girls

yes sk actually if he never wakes in the nigh will he never be weaned?

i just wanted her to say yes but she was quite vehement

he is grizzling now might hand him over to b=her for some feed - nibble nibble pull yank bite and then feed again

JODIEhadababy · 04/12/2008 10:00

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 04/12/2008 11:14

nice name jodie

purplejennyrose · 04/12/2008 11:40

Congrats Disney that is absolutely lovely!

Just got a minute - I am trying really hard to go to bed early at the mo (!) - so I prob won't post much as my computer time is the evening. Will try and check in at weekends but there'll be pages and pages on the thread I should think! So TTFN, take care all!
xx

shortshafe · 04/12/2008 13:15

PJR - I keep trying to go to bed early but just can't manage it! Trying to cram all my leisure activity into an evening is a nightmare.

NAO - people are really odd about babies sizes, someone told me at the weekend that Isaac is tiny, he's 4 months, 18lbs and on 91st centile for height! Just give them the face!

Love the festive names Jodie and Isaid.. I can't think of one I like!

SK - I had horrid bruising after my em cs, lavender and tea tree oil in my bath everyday was a god send!

Congrats Disney - well done to your daughter

bebejones · 04/12/2008 13:34

Afternoon ladies! Arm is still useless and numb, thought it was perhaps a bit better this morning but then decided i was just getting used to it! Apologises for crap typing, can only use one hand...takes ages!

Has been freezing here all week, P is asleep on playmat with a blanket...wouldn't settle anywhere else and am trying to get her used to having a nap in her basket/cot before lunch...without much sucess!

We have decided not to get P Christmas presents. We dont have any other DC and money is really REALLY tight. Plus family and friends are going to spoil her rotten so have just told people what she needs, although we have got a nice dress for Xmas day for her (bit worried it is going to be too big so may need a back up!) Plus we figured she cant open stuff herself, is this really mean?

DH is really ill, think he might actually have proper flu! And he has still gone in to work as one member of staff is sick and he had 4 meetings that no one else could cover....feel really bad for him. He slept on sofa so P and I could sleep as night before he disturbed both of us with constant coughing! Can hear LO snuffling so will have to dash TTFN

sweetkitty · 04/12/2008 14:41

hi all well I have a confession to make, I did a pregnancy test this morning, don't worry it was negative (phew) but I had that little period type thing the beginning of October and nothing since, also have been feeling very rough and sick recently especially when brushing my teeth and DP isn't also that great at the withdrawal method shall we say, was s myself but wanted to know for sure. Told DP and he said "oh theres a tiny bit of me disappointed ). That will teach me though been to Boots today

Anyway older two driving me mad today, they have had so many of their toys taking off them as punishment I'm surprised they have any left.

bebe - you are quite right with no toys at Christmas as you say she will be spoiled enough from relatives. Better to save t for when she will know whats going on.

hello everyone else better dash B is grizzling in her cot and the other two no doubt up to no good and I have loads to do.

hi ladies

just a quickie- i have been down with some kind of awful gastric flu type thing. thank god my mum is here . . .she has been looking after me and elodie! she is so lovely - has cooked curry, meatballs, beef stew etc for my freezer - totally stocked.

elodie has made a great recovery - her tummy has gone down a lot and she seems totally fine now! she was v. clingy for a while but now is spending loads of time with my mum and is quite happy about it.

sk - i did a test last week! had a weird non-period type thing a while back and just a little browniness this month (sorry tmi). also negative, thank goodness.

mcchesers - how exciting - bet you are really looking forward to your vacation - its so nice be with family

disney - congratulations!!!!!

Rumpel · 04/12/2008 15:39

Hi All,

WELL DONE DISNEYS' DAUGHTER

SK - Am at you and DH!! Only a matter of time before you are whinging on another due 09 thread if you are using the very reliable 'withdrawal' method It's weird isn;t it as I am wokring on DH too re having another. I feel so much better in myself now and am thinking I would like another (I've always wanted 3) but DH is adamant and I have decided to put it out of my mind for a year then see how I feel.

My DD is rippin my knitting today too - she is soooo LOUD and I was a very bad and naughty person yesterday and drank a WHOLE bottle of wine to myself - lush! Have you got your girlies wee outfits for Xmas day? I got Amber a fairy costume ages ago.

BEBE - sorry to hear your arm is still bad - hope the referrral comes through ASAP. Meantime try and rest it supported on a cushion - you could also try hot and cold packs on your shoulder/neck area. if I lived near you I'd come give you a massage xx
I think you are quite right about pressies - much more important that you enjoy your time together and have nice food than pressies. Hope your DH is feeling better soon.

NAO - talk about laying down the law!! Am on your behalf.

ISAIDNO - sending healing vibes to your DHs crown jewels

Must go as stuff to do as per usual.

xxxxx

JODIE - am too about your day at Hoar Cross Hall - I adore things like that.

DONUT - sorry about your Dhs Grandma - but maybe the funeral will actually be okay - might be one of those ones where wehn someone had lived a full and long life people celebrate it rather than being all morose? Pack your thermals though - tis baltic here. was -6 C here yesterday brrrr!

Calvin had his first stint at nursery yesterday - 1 hour with me there too, next week he is staying for an hour himself. Then we went off into town and shopped - some great bargains at the mo'. Bought DD 4 pairs of shoes form Clarks - they'll do her for the next 1-2 years. Got Calvin's feet measured and he is a 3G at the mo I thought he was about a 3.

RumpeliciousChristmasWishes · 04/12/2008 15:42

What da ya think - naff or acceptable?

sweetkitty · 04/12/2008 16:22

Rumpel - I like it I know I know you don't have to tell me but as usual thought I would be OK as B never goes more than 4 hours between feeds too hence no periods. Don't worry will not be making that mistake again the stress will kill me. I have 2 friends who have only ever used the withdrawal method except to have their DC and they have had no accidents in oh about 30 years between them, but knowing me it would only take the once

It's just always the four (now 5 of us for Christmas dinner) so I don't see the point in getting all dressed up to play with toys on the carpet all day, girls are getting some dress up so will probably wear them for a bit, B has a wee cute Santa outfit that used to be DD1s.

Tjuice - glad your Mum is looking after you and Elodie and that she is on the mend

Felt really sad last night as I was speaking to my friends Mum and she was so excited about my friend having her baby but was all concerned that she had to work next week but would take the week after off to look after them both once her DH goes back to work. Made me think about my dear Mother who couldn't even be bothered to get out her bed when I phoned her at 9.30am to tell her B had been born (her friend ended up telling her before I did) and she has only seen B once since she was born for 2 hours Usually I don't bother but now and again it really gets to you the lack of family support. Sorry thats my self indulgent moan over for today

Counting down the minute until DP gets in and I can take a long hot shower

pigleychez · 04/12/2008 16:56

Hi all,

Loving the xmas smileys [f]

Bebe- Not mean at all. No point getting into debt for presents thats she will have no idea about anyway!

Sk- about the test! I wonder who will be the first

Tjuice- Sorry to hear youve been poorly and glad that Elodie is recovering well

Rumpel- Abigail has already been sporting her santa hat and angel costume for the xmas cards. She has red trousers and a red top saying My first Christmas to wear on the day. oh and the hat of course!
New name is good

Abigail is getting worse and worse at night now so feeling really really tired. DH and I have decided to bite the bullet and put her in the cot in her own room tomorow night in the hope she sleeps better and longer.
Currently she wakes 2/3 times a night, hardly drinks a thing then is a nightmare to settle again!
She has practically outgrown her moses basket now so maybe more room will help her settle- ill try anything at the mo!!

right off to think of a christmassy name for myself !

pigleypudding · 04/12/2008 19:33
