Isaid- love the new name

Rumpel- Lucky you on your quiet night!!

I remember using the previous years cards to make tags
We ask the parents at nursery to bring in the fronts of thier old cards to use for cutting and sticking the next year.

Christmas presents - Abigail has stocking with rattles and rubber ducks in it. A Piano cot toy as she loves kicking and and a talking photo album where you can record a message for each pic. Our families arent that near so be nice for her the be able to see thier faces more.

Re older friends- I have older mummy friends that ive met recenty but have older friends too from pre baby days. Im 27 and one good friend is nearly 40. I dont think age really matters.

Disney- Im another one whos constantly chatting to thier LO. Im always asking Abigails opinions on things... It will shock me when she actually starts replying!

Bebe- Well done P for rolling over No stopping her now. Abigail has rolled front to back a few times but not the other way. She currently just lifts one bum cheek!

Hope they sort your arm out soon

Well DH was away on business last night and was looking forward to a full nights sleep- No chance though-- He found himself awake at 2 and 5! No change there then

Im very impressed with Abigail. She was wowing everyone at baby club today with her sitting unaided. She sat unaided for a whole 5 minutes! Can even reach out to get toys without losing her balance. Clever girl!

EEC · 02/12/2008 20:14

pigley - v impressed with abigail's sitting! R still topples over after about 3 seconds!

I too talk and sing to my baby all day long. I think they do love to hear your voice as much as possible.

Bebe - R also hates being on his front so hope he doesn't learn to roll back to front soon! Hope they get to the bottom of your arm problem soon. it must be v frustrating.

SK - DS1 was up 3 or 4 times a night until he was 3 and DD used to wake to be fed 2 or 3 times too so nights were awful - I know what it's like to be up on and off all night for months on end! Rory is currently waking 2 or 3 times a night but by comparison to the first time round he is a dream!

NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 21:09

hello all sorry for those of you with broken nights

N never wakes in the night!!!

wont be put down in the day though if thats any fo you all! I carry him all the time grrr

today he said 'da' and kept repeating it - daddy was at work so he is not that bright

pigley wowee! n cant even be put on the floor or in a chair let alone sit unaided..

he is delicious though and i am totally and utterly in love wit him his cheeks are like two red turgid lumps and the soles of his feet pure silk...

NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 21:10

sorry could not think of word and then forgot to put it in ....
he wont be put down if thats any compensation

soz

Have made myself stay up and finish off my christmas cards. I agree with Disney about cards but do make some for family abroad with photos. Don't bother with people who I can personally wish a merry christmas!
Raff will not shut up...in the nicest, sweetest possible way! He is sooo funny babbling away. He occassionally wakes up and has a good babble and then goes back to sleep. I sometimes let him sleep downstairs if I am up just so I can listen to him...
My DD said mum at 5 months after much coaching - secretly doing this again!! DH was so sure they would say his name first!
Have to sleep now...exhausted!

sweetkitty · 02/12/2008 21:30

I agree Otter the soles of their feet so new and gorgeous and their little hands - addictive.

Isn't it funny how some love being on their fronts some hate it, B flips over the minute you put her down will not stay on her back for a minute. SIL has nicknamed B Riverdance as she kicks her legs almost constantly.

OP posts:
NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 21:41

lol sweetkitty we call N 'legs' I say he communicates through his legs instead of mouth! when you go over to him the legs fly up and start kicking!

NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 21:54

tjuice i am delighted to have found that millett stuff you called 'gruel' on the other thread

i found it in waitrose and am excited to try it -thanks for the heads up

sweetkitty · 02/12/2008 22:17

Otter - B is the same if you talk to her, her legs go mad

NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 22:32

Yes, SK and NAO, feet are lovely but the best bet is their yummy bottoms. I think my childless friend who was visiting last night found it slightly off-putting when I was kissing O's bum! But she had just had her bath and was all warm and soft and smelling edible..... (Orlaith, I mean, not my friend).

Poledra · 03/12/2008 09:25

"..best bit.." I mean. Typing whilst bfing, as usual.

EEC · 03/12/2008 10:03

Tummy even softer than bottom! So smooth and silky. But I think the best bit is nuzzling the top of his lovely downy head just above his ears... Ooh and his ears - they are delicious!

minipinkscottish · 03/12/2008 10:17

hello all

sorry finding it hard to keep up just now.....
6 childrem
22 days till Christmas
2 chest infections
1 snuffly baby
and a burst pipe in the kitchen

ponto · 03/12/2008 10:41

I I am so of your unbroken nights! Although last night Bryony slept in her own room from 7.30 till 4 . Long may it continue!

Finally got round to some online xmas shopping last night so feeling virtuous today. Poor Bryony won't be getting much this year as we've got a house full of toys but I've got her a crawl along mirror and a Whoozit, both second-hand, so have spent about £1.50 on her (she'll never know!).

sweetkitty · 03/12/2008 11:14

Just back from more Christmas shopping well I bought my friends babies present (spoke to her Mum this morning she's in labour as we speak) so nice to buy blue instead of pink for a change!

ponto - I am the same houseful of baby toys but you have to get them something but what to put in a stocking, I got a teether and some little toys on 3 for 2 at Boots, also got some bibs and spoons as Santa knows she is ready for weaning soon (thought it would be a good idea to get the things I would have bought anyway IYSWIM)

minipink - poor you

EEC - utterly delicious, how many times do you tell them youa re going to eat them up in a day

Right nursery pick up time again

Hi guys,

Well I am nice and relaxed, spent the day here yesterday, with my SIL, fab, fab, fab! Just chilled out, had a full body massage, did an exercise class and a yoga class, swam, sauna, etc etc, just spen the day chilling in a robe! WONDERFUL..

Back to it today though, just listed some stuff on E-bay and about to give the house a good blitz while DS1 is at playgroup.

(oh and to add to the wonder, Sam has gone 7-7 two nights in a row!!! whoop whoop) DS1 still up 3 times though , he has a cold and keeps coughing! He's ended up in with us, nice and snuggly!

My fave bit about Sam is the palms of his hands, when he strokes my face, that are so soft! (but his bum is lovely too, I;m lucky that both DS's inherited DH's beautiful bottom and not mine!! )

DonutMum · 03/12/2008 12:07

Aw, loving the best baby bits thing. Logan loves his feet at the mo and likes to shove them in his mouth. I love his tummy too, all smooth and soft.

Had bad news. Dh's gran died last night . She's been ill a while. Now when we go home we'll be going to the funeral. Thing is, DS2 understands and has talked about daddy being sad cos great gran is dead but DS1 is completely oblivious!

Anyway, off to sing in a carol concert tonight. Joined the Manama Singers and we've got a big do tonight. Hope I don't cry!

TTFN.

mcchesers · 03/12/2008 14:39

congrats grandma disney!! fab news!

mcchesers · 03/12/2008 14:52

thoroughly at Jodie

It's been days of freezing temps here in sunny Glasgow and I've been holed up inside doing laundry. Still in my PJ's at almost 3pm.

Baby favourites? cuddles. I love them. My monkey puts his arms around my neck and I am butter. He's a right proper wee guy now and starting to grow giant toddler head. One more week to go before holiday and I get to see my mom. I think I zoomed ahead too quickly on the banana rice pudding. I've been changing aromatic banana nappies for four days. back to cereal I guess

After three weeks of blissfull radio silence...DH gets in touch with his dad and finds out that MIL refuses to speak to any of us until my DH apologises. So DH took the high road and buckled. We'd rather be happy than right, and she knows what she did anyway but what a lot of palava! DH is bringing baby over on Sunday and I am going to have my hair done on my own. woo hoo!

Good news is we have been made an offer on the flat and accepted it. So now the long road to exchange is ahead of us but at least it's a lift before the holidays and now we can relax a little. chomping at the bit.. cannot wait to go..OMG OMG OMG!!!

Question Time for non First timers:

We are staying over for three weeks in the US. What do we need to take and/or have there? I'm thinking blanket, play yard, bouncy chair, and something to feed him in should be sufficient. Any tips for travel?
He's 5 months and 4 days when we leave.

pigleychez · 03/12/2008 15:23

Disney!! Thats fab news! Congrats to everyone in the Disney house
Has she choosen a name yet? 6.12ozs inst that small...I though they said that baby was measuring small?- What do they know hey!

Ponto- Lucky you!

Jodie- You lucky thing!! It looks Lush!

Donut- to hear about DH's gran.

Re- Yummy baby body parts- I love all the already mentioned baby bits.. just scrummy!
Ive just started Baby massage classes with Abigail and I love massaging her little feet and chubby little thighs.
And her cheeky little chubby cheeks are just the cutest!

Mcchesers- Good news about the flat offer!
Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and quicky.

Having a lazy day here, pottering about. Just tried out a new fudge recipe... tastes yummy but makes you cringe when you see the amount of Icing sugar you use!!!

JODIEhadababy · 03/12/2008 15:40

Hi all, proper post now

donut so about your loss, hope your DH is OK?

To all the I KNOW It was so lovely, I want to go back today and tomorrow and the next day......

Mcchesers Good on your DH for taking the high ground, but still at MIL. Glad its all sorted, and WHOOP WHOOP for your flat sale..... And as for tips for traveling,

1/ put all toys, nappies, wipes, food etc, in a seperate bag, and keep it under the seat in front of you, so when you need them it's close to hand.

2/ when you check in, ask if any spare seats and if poss, could you have a whole row of three, so that when he goes to sleep you have a spare seat to lie him on... Or just to let him have a kick about when he gets bored.

3/ Make a deal with DH, you get to take it in turns, 1/2 hour of 'awake' time each.

4/ Have your book to hand, so if he does fall to sleep and you don't want to put him down you have something to hand wthout fidgeting

5/ take the buggy right up to the gate with you.

How long's your flight?
