LOL ISAIDNO!!!! Thats so funny! shortshafe I'm surprised that DS1 hasn't tried something like that!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that there are some snuffly babies around, I've got 2 here! I feel so sorry for Sam, he really doesn't know what's hit him!

NAO I've started giving Sam some sticks of carrot, cucumber and lettuce to 'nibble' on while we are having our tea. Starte about a week ago when he was 20 1/2 weeks. I don't actually think he's eaten any of it yet though as nothing has appeared in his nappy, but his appetite is getting stronger, he had 7 7oz bottles per 24 hours, where before he would only take 7 x 4oz..

It's so cold here today, I feel for you scottsh lasses, I heard on the tv that it was the coldest day in Glasgow for 22 years yesterday brrrrr... I though I was cold.

We went to the Peak Disrict yesterday for a ride out, had a small walk and then to a pub for lunch, Sam and Oliver were amazingly good! Oli is usually a little to rag that doesn't sit still for more than 30 secs, but he was quite content sitting 'drawing'. Think it was coz he was a bit under the weather!

Bebe How's your arm? How's Pheobe's cradle cap now? has it cleared up? (it was P wasn't it who had it?)

twinkle1 · 01/12/2008 12:56

hello all,
Still here!!! Dont know where to start really.hope you and the babies are all well!! Life is very mad here, the boys are not well still, callum is very anaemic as his bone marrow is immature and does not produce enough red cells yet.Hopefully time will fix it, he has lots of meds and blood test weekly.Connor is the one that worries us!!!! It turns out one of his kidneys has no function so he is waiting for an in tensive care bed to go in and have it removed. He is on lots of medication and has a few other ongoing problems. But he is a lovely ginger bomb shell
As you can imagine things here are mad, we have the nursing team out a couple of times a week and visit the hospital LOTS.The other three have a manicaly busy schedule, but we are really looking foward to christmas
On the plus side they are both still fully breast fed!!!!
I will try to get on here a bit more.
Thanks isadno for the prod !!!!!!!
Love to all Twinkle

twinkle1 · 01/12/2008 12:58

JODIEhadababy · 01/12/2008 13:19

Wow, Twinkle, soooooo glad to hear from you. Glad the boys are (relatively) OK. Peak District was cold yesterday, but we only ventured as far as Carsington Waters. Next weekend we are off to Castleton Sat-Mon, with In Laws. Looking forward to that.

I often think about you (esp. when opening the P&T, hw's your DH's fingers? )

It's lovely to hear from you, and please keep us all posted from time to time, you had us worried

Poledra · 01/12/2008 13:53

TWINKLE! (in the manner of 'Norm!' from Cheers) so good to hear from you.

Rumpel · 01/12/2008 15:38

HIYA TWINKLE - HUGE WAVE - so glad you popped in and put all our minds at ease - we were all worried about you and sending your gorgeous red headed boys big healing vibes and cuddles

BEBE - if you have a nerve damage to your arm/ a pinched nerve I would go see a masseuse or osteopath or private physio or ask your Gp to refer you for phsyio (usually horrific long waiitng lists though). if you go private or masseuse/osteopath please make sure they are very experienced, fully insured and have experience of dealing with trapped nerves, and working on women who have given birth recently. I had terrible carpal tunnel syndrome when pg with DD and it took 6 - 8 months to go away after I had her and I had major problenms trying to bath and lift her also.

I went to see an osteopath when she was 4 months old and this guy was highly commended in the local area. I had a quite a few neck/back problems from whiplash and the birth - anyway he treated me and my body went into shock and I ended up in hospital!! One of the girls on the MN group I am on with DD is an osteopath and sepcialises in maternity and she said it had been too soon after having DD and he was too rough so please make sure they are experienced in post birth/maternity.
lecture over

SK - My 2 had me up and down all night again last night so I too am looking forward to the night where Amber, Calvin and myself actually all sleep We are off to sunny Saltcoats on Fri 12th to stay with the Ils for 2 night On the plus side they are babysitting on sat so we can go out with friends in Largs for dinner. i was just thinking about you feeling guilty about not taking your girls out much and I wanted to ask you - Do you remember your Mum taking you to softplay. parties, fun parks, amusement etc? I certainly don't - I remember being about 18 months old, in a big field with the sun shining down and picking paper labels off of ginger bottles and eating them I asked my Mum and it was when she used to go cabbage picking in Essex. My Mum used to take me into work with her and then I started school a year early 'cos she worked in the school at the time - tee hee. You all sound like you have a fab time playing hairdressers, salons etc anyway.

Must go as DC sleeping and Chrissie cards to write and stuff to do.

CILC if you are lurking come say hi.

Rumpel · 01/12/2008 15:39

By the way those of us on FB know that KAZ is okay as she always participates in those FB quizzes.

pigleychez · 01/12/2008 15:50

Shortsafe- Glad Issac enjoyed his Mushy peas

Twinkle- Glad to see you back I can imagine how hectic life is for you- Especially with the boys still not tip top
Get well vibes to them.

Don't forget to pop in and update us when you get a chance

Abigail seems abit brighter today, not quite so sniffly. We had our first baby massage class this morning which was good and she seemed to enjoy it.

Rumpel- I cant recall going to any softplay/ funparks untill I was much older and on holiday. I wouldnt worry too much.

JODIEhadababy · 01/12/2008 16:00

Rumpel, you have a point there. I cant remember doing all that stuff either! (Infact mum and dad worked FT running a pub, so spent alot of time with GP's, not that I minded, we got spoilt rotton!)

isaidno · 01/12/2008 16:14

Twinkle - great to hear from you - we guessed your life was a bit manic!
Hope the boys get well soon; very impressed with the bf! Well done!

shortshafe · 01/12/2008 16:26

isaidno - I was tempted to actually start my post with that!!! bless em, shall I post it in AIBU and see what I get back?! (skulks away feeling evil )

Twinkle - well done you on the bf, bloody good going girl! From little acorns mighty oaks grow - the boys will get those chubby thighs soon!

Jodie - love Carsington Water, bit chilly for me at the mo, am a lightweight!

Pigley, glad Abigail's feeling a bit better, we have shares in snufflebabe here!

mmm, what to give Isaac today? Maybe beans on toast?

sweetkitty · 01/12/2008 17:18

Evening all night from hell last night she woke up as I was going to bed had a feed which kept her until 4am then she woke at 5 through until 6am, DD2 was also up screaming as well, oh the joys.

Finally chose the photos not too bad only £30 worth, will finally get some pics of my third born daughter up (bad Mummy alert)

twinkle - lovely to hear from you, sorry to hear about the boys haven't been well, hope you have chubby legs soon. Well done on the BFing too you supermummy you.

shortshafe - love the story about Isaac weaning himself, I think it's second borns they just get on with it, I remember finding a raisin in DD2's nappy when she was 3 months old too. The mushy peas must have looked good.

Rumpel - yey sunny Saltcoats here you come now don't go spending too much money down the spralling metropolis that is Dockhead Street now I think we will be back down next week, BF was due to be induced today, she was dreading it the poor thing , babies head was still not engaged and she reckoned she will have a failed induction and need a csection Yes you are right I don't remember our Mum playing with us either you were sent out the back and that was you, we did spend loads of time down the beach though in the water up to our necks don't think I would allow my dog in there now!

pigley - glad Abigail is on the mend

Tree and decorations are up just need to get an outside tree now, last of the Christmas presents arrived today so got a bit of wrapping to do, cards to write and thats me. Bethany likes the twinkly lights but is scared of the tacky dancing Santa the other two keep showing her.

CilC · 01/12/2008 22:21

Hi there! I wrote a big huge massive message the other day and then something went wrong and my computer crashed!
Have been so busy (I have been making Christmas cakes and decorating them - a small sideline of mine) plus exhausted as thyroid is playing up so quite tired! The thing is I can not stop, am always on the go, seem to have something happening each day so by 8pm I am in bed.
I tend to get a bit down if I stay home too much, but as GP says I really need to slow down and rest more.... I just find being home all the time a bit tedious.
Little Raf is doing really well. He is such a wonderful little boy and luckily a fantastic sleeper most of the time. I have not weaned him yet - he is happy with me and a few extra formulars a day.
I had a good catch up the other day but have not been able to get on here very much so apologies for not personalising message.

Will try and keep up more - have really missed you all!

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 02/12/2008 09:33

Just testing my Christmas name!

Poppy bit more smiley today; still got lots of spare snot and she's shared the cold with me.

Cilc - take it easy, relax, hang around on MN instead of doing all that tiring stuff.... hope you feel better soon x

EEC · 02/12/2008 09:55

notanotter - R gets a big spot on his chin quite often - I'm sure it's from dribbling - I agrre - it looks horrid! I put sudocreme on and it seems to go pretty quickly

LOL at mushy peas. Gave R a lick of Banana yesterday and he wasn't really interested. He is only 19 weeks so will hold off a good while yet I think. How about trying him on curry tonight?

Rumple - you are so right - My parents never did anything much with us - just let us get on with life - they certainly didn't take us out for trips apart from occasionally on Bdays - They were great parents and I was a very happy child.

twinkle - yey. You're back. Life must be manic for you but we have all been thinking of you loads.

loving the new name isaidno.

Hope all snuffly babies are feeling better. R has his 3rd set of jabs today... Calpol at the ready.

V jealous of all of you ready for Xmas. Am I the only disorganised one on here?

ponto · 02/12/2008 10:54

Don't worry EEC, I'm nowhere near ready for Xmas either, only bought pressies for children so far, cards bought but not written. I never really feel like it's time to do any of that until December arrives, the panic-buying is a Christmas tradition in our house!

Twinkle, thanks for the update, we quite understand if you haven't go time to post.

Bryony had her first night in her own room last night. She's 19 weeks now and was waking every night as I came to bed, then I'd end up with her in bed with me for the rest of the night. So last night she didn't wake when I went to bed, but 15 minutes later, just as I'd dropped off, she woke up! So we co-slept again and my shoulder's really uncomfortable. But the night before, when I decided to make her go back in her crib after the midnight feed, she did't go back to sleep till 2.30, so I only got 4 hours' sleep (and she was in bed with me for half of that) before I needed to get up at 6.30 . I don't know how you cope, those of you with wakeful babies doing that every night.

Rumpel · 02/12/2008 12:14

WOO HOO BOTH MY CHILDREN SLEPT ALL NIGHT I put DD in a huge growbag and gave C some rice with his dinner milk, a late feed at 10pm and I woke up at 2.30am thinking 'Right are they okay? Will I check? What if he has suffocated himself with the blankets and that is why he is so quiet' etc etc etc Now I just need to recondition my head and we will all be happy

I've just got Converse to buy for Calvin (want to get his feet measured first though)write a few cards - helpful hint - those of you who have friends with PCs send them a hallmark ecard and give the money to charity or spend it on something else They do lovely musical cards - okay you can't display them but it cuts down on waste and clutter Or I read that some people cut up old cards and use them for gift tags the next year. I remember making a dodecahedron bauble with some cards when I was at school - good idea for keeping the older DC amused? Looks really effective too.

It isn't true what they say about us Scots being stingy you know - I like to think of myself as dislikng waste and there is always someone who is more needy than you. Speaking of which the Salli Army have just popped a bag through our door for clothes - been waiting for them to give them all my giant pants and old clothes - they pass them onto the homeless people, much better than going to landfill.

Yadi yadi yadi off I go again - sorry!!

CILC - glad you are okay - has Raffs colic gone now then?

What have you all got your littlies for Chrissie?

SK - we used to go swimming there too - bleurgh!! Last time I was near Dockhead street it was choka full of charity shops! I used to work in the beauty salon next to the Clysdale bank - it was originally Crescent Park Beauty Salon ( when I was there) , then it became Rose of Sharon - is it still there?

Also those of you who are of a younger persuasion do you have any good girlfriends who are much older than you? I've just met 2 lovely girls but they are 10 years younger than me and I remember being that age and thinking how much older it was IYSWIM? we get on well and they are coming over this Sat with their kids but I just wanted your opinions.

Take care all.

EEC · 02/12/2008 13:30

Rumple - the best friend I ever had was 14 years older than me - She was 40 and I was 26 - I really think age doesn't matter - it's personality that counts. She was very young at heart and we had huge amounts of fun together. So pleased your children slept all night. I do know what you mean about those terrible fears in the night though... On the odd occasion that R sleeps for a 5 or 6 hour stretch I can't sleep at all!

sweetkitty · 02/12/2008 15:09

I can't seem to get out first gear today had loads planned too

Rumpel - both sleeping through the night do children actually do that? That about sums up Saltcoats really charity shops, bookies and pubs. My first job was in Semi-Chem at the station. Out of my Mummy friends I am the youngest at 33 I did think abotu the e-cards thing but thought it's just not the same and DP wasn't keen so we compromised and have charity cards instead, the DDs nursery only have one card per child instead of you sending them to the class and ask for a donation to Oxfam instead.

ponto - I do think you body becomes use to broken nights and lack of sleep. I won't even force the issue of B sleeping in her own room until she's about a year old. Cosleeping gets me the msot sleep so I'm sticking with it for now.

isaidno - nice name must dig one of mine out

Just received my new hotmilk nursing bra, it's the baby doll pink one it's lovely I must say, half price too

Right must be off have just noticed a pair of big blue eyes looking at me which means B is awake.

mcchesers · 02/12/2008 15:16

Hey good to hear from you Twinkle!

CilC · 02/12/2008 15:34

Hi Rumpel - yes Raff's colic pretty much gone now. He still has a bt of reflux but I found the cranio osteopath really helpful. TBH I don't get it, but it did help for us.

My best friend and DD's god mother is 9 years older than me and just became a Grandmother!

We have bought Raff a bus made out of cupboard with wheels from M&S. My DD chose it...for a fiver!!! It is also a puzzle. We never got DD anything for her first Xmas. Have found Great Little Trading Company really great for presents in the past. Have bought DD a dollhouse from there. We don't really spend that much over Xmas. You get your best gift for your birthday.

Twinkle - great to hear from you. Some of you Mums are amazing dealing with everything you have to do. You are very inspiring!

Glad to hear little Sam and Elodie are doing well.

Off to collect DD from tennis!

samuels toys are a jingle giraffe he loves it and an elle elephant we take everywhere
i got him a highchair toy now sam has a special chair as he cant sit it lies back and had velcro and supports all at the sides so i found a toy that will suction on and face forward so he can play with it

bebejones · 02/12/2008 17:23

V quick post...Twinkle glad you are ok, sending lots of hugs to ur LO's.

P rolled over completely for the first time today and has spent rest of day doing it over and over again. Trouble is she HATES being on hr front so rolls over and screams, I put her on her back and she promptly rolls over and screams. Put her in her rocker after about an hour of this...bad mummy!

Went back to docs today as arm is worse, have no feeling in my thumb at all. Have white blood cells in urine (don't know why they tested it) and have to go back for blood tests next week. I am being reffered to a neurologist as they dont know what is causing the problem!

Must dash, screaming baby...prob on her front again!

sweetkitty · 02/12/2008 17:24

aww Disney Samuel sounds so cute, I talk to B all the time and I will ask her things like "oh do you like that?" and one of the other ones look at me as if I'm mad and say "mummy Bethany can't talk yet!"

In answer to your question, DD1 is 4 but has a weak bladder so is up in the night about 5 times for the toilet so she puts the light on (never off) crashes about, bangs the door shut, whinges and cries. DD2 who's nearly 3 cries and screams and when you go to her and cuddle her she pushes you away and screams even louder and then Bethany is usually up twice for a feed. DP sees to the other two as I feed B but it still wakens you on a bad night you can be wakened 8-10 times and theres never a night one of the big two don't wake up. Wonder when they will all sleep through the night?
