Matthew hasnt had his MMR yet, he was due it 3 times, but have had to cancel it coz hes always ill
im hoping he can have within the nxt week if he gets this cold and cough shifted
i want himt o have it asap, as he got really ill with chicken pox recently and that is only a mild illness, and the docs have said if he gets one of the things in the mmr he would be fatal for him

im dreading it though as he reatced to all his 2,3,4 month jabs

love natalie

Sponge · 23/10/2005 18:40

Well we kept Harry's Monday MMR appointment and he was very brave. A bit hot that evening but otherwise no ill effects seen yet.

He weighs about 23lbs I think so not huge but he seems solid and healthy enough.

Hope Matthew's feeling better soon NH&M.

littlerach · 24/10/2005 16:41

If he reacted to his baby jabs, then won't the doctors look at other ways of doing it?

Evie was almost seen as failure to thrive, as she lost a lot of weight and wouldn't take milk hardly at all. She dropped on the stupid centile chart from 50th down to 2nd, then became consisitent, so escaped being labelled. She is still tiny, about 20lbs, but full of energy and eats like a horse! Still not keen on milk and has half a pint on a good day, but eats anyhting else!

I hope he i better soon, welcome to MN!

nathollyandmatthew · 25/10/2005 11:11

hello
this is whta i asked, but he does need the MMR coz if he didnt then he would get very ill if he caught one of them

they said the mmr has different things in so he shouldnt react hopefully, but he needs to be well enough to have it

matthew is 20lb born on 50th centile at 36 weeks, and then dropped to the 2nd at 7 months and has really struggled since he was 7 months old

sweetkitty · 25/10/2005 11:16

Abbie had her MMR yesterday, she was very brave also had a little cry but then was too interested in the toys around her. She was fine last night slept for a wee bit longer in the afternoon as well.

She's another tiny one although she has taken a little bit of a growth spurt recently, haven't had her weighed since she was 13 mo when she was 21lbs. She's just into her 9-12 months trousers which are still turned up. She has at least a pink of milk (2 beakers in the morning and at least one at night) as well as her food. She's never been one that you can shovel food into, she's a grazer preferring to eat herself at her leisure.

littlerach · 25/10/2005 11:21

SK, Evie has to have hers rolled uptoo, though she's in 6-9 for trousers.

NHaM, you could search on MN for others who have had a reaction to jabs, or start a new topic asking for info. There are some really clued up Mners who know a lot more about vaccinations. But I am shocked that the doctors aren't taking it as seriously as you need them to.

its no surprise to me about how matthew care is so crap its terrible here
i actually did gte a second opinion from great ormond steet hosp when he was there, and they said he should b ok as the injection is differnet, but he does need it as he has alot of probs and gtes very ill with the slightest thing,

so im hoping hes ok with it, my daughter didnt react to it so im hoping matthew dont either

i trust great ormond street 100 times more than my hospital anyway

love nat

nathollyandmatthew · 26/10/2005 10:31

when was all ur babies born?

matthew was born 6th july 1 month early and was 6lb 6oz

littlerach · 26/10/2005 10:34

Evie was 9th Aug, 9 days late. Actually born on my mum's birthday!!

DD1 was prem, 5 weeks early.
Sonds like M was a good weight.

OP posts:
nathollyandmatthew · 26/10/2005 10:37

matthew was due the 2nd august, he was nearly born at 32 weeks coz thats when my waters broke, he did well to hang on til 36 weeks

he was a very good weight, needed 10 days in the neo natal unit,

how much was ur dd1 at 5 weeks prem?

littlerach · 26/10/2005 10:42

5lbs. She was in SCBU for just 24 hrs, which was great really. She ahd to be tube fed as she had no sucking reflex, and lost a lot of weight soo we were in for 7 days - horrid! She is fine noe, 4.6 yeras, at school, top of the class for reading! She has had speech probs which has been put dowm to being prem and the prob with sucking, probably verbal dyspraxia, but has improved loads.

OP posts:
nathollyandmatthew · 26/10/2005 10:48

aww 5lb sounds so tiny, matthew was 4lb 10oz at 32 weeks by my scan so we huge then

matthew needed tube feeding to for 7 days he also needed the drip and iv anti b's

matthew has a prob with his swallwoing to was found after he had a videofluscorpy
the only prob of matthew being linked to being early is hes poor immune system, all his other probs r just one of those things

how much did evie weigh at birth?

where do u live? im in essex

littlerach · 26/10/2005 10:54

Evie was 7lbs 12, so huge in comparison but much easier to push out!!

We live in Wiltshire.

It is awful when they seem ill all the time, it must be tough for you. Is he better today?

OP posts:
nathollyandmatthew · 26/10/2005 10:57

my daughter was 7lb 9.5oz 4 days late and she was a bugger to push out
matthew was sooo easy i would give birth to him everyday if i could i loved it that much lol hubby says im mad

matthew is never well, hes still got his cold and cough, he had croup 2 weeks ago
he has alot of health probelms so i dont think that helps wiht his health side of things,

im trying to get his blood checked but his paed here wont check it so im going ot my gp on friday to see if they will give him one

hes main concern at the mo is he has central sleep apnoea, hes brain doesnt tell him to breathe properly and he stops breathing

just makes him that little bit more special
do u only have the 2 kids?

littlerach · 26/10/2005 11:00

Yes, just the 2, plus 2 step kids who live in Devon. Keep thinking about another but not quite sure! DH will be 40 in 18 months so that is his deadline!!

Sleep apnoea (sp) sounds scarey, do you have one of those mats for him to sleep on?

OP posts:
littlerach · 26/10/2005 11:05

Just read your thread under SN, goodness, what a time yo've had.

I have no experience, but FIL wears a mask at night as he snores so badly and wakes feeling he can't breathe. May be something similar.

Hope you get some support soon, it does make them extra special, you're right.

Have to do and see to Evie!

OP posts:
nathollyandmatthew · 26/10/2005 11:08

yes we have had a mat since he was 6 months old we bought it coz of hes asthma and it always has gone off which hes bretahing been shallwo, hes benn cold and pale, but no one would listen to me, in june my hosp took him in for 5 nights sent us home telling me he was fine, and not use the alarm any more, but i did,
in august he went to great ormond street and they done a sleep study which showed he was having apnoea, but coz he was diagnosed with reflux they thought that it was that cuasing it

anyhow we came home 2nd sept, matthew continued to have this apnoeas and seemed to get worse
end of sept my hosp took him in again, and sent us home saying he was fine, on the 5th oct matthew had a ALTE (Acute Life-Threatening Event) i found him not bretahing, was in my hosp for 7 days then got trnasferred to GOSH and they done another sleep study and have now said it wasnt reflux causing it, its his brain, so he needs to go bk to have MRI the hosp have now given us a abdormal aonoea alarm, which in the last week hes had 10 apnoeas
so after nealry 10 months of me telling them he has apnoea they have finally relaised i was telling the truth

sorry gone on abit there

how old r u? im 23 and so is hubby, i would like more kids, but wnat to sort out matthew
holly is nealry 3.5 years

Hi All

Had a lovely time at home in the UK, but did seem to fly by all too quickly. Might be the last time we'll be home for a good while with number 2 due in April, so was good to catch up with everyone. We're back in the UK for good September next year, so I've got that to look forward to.

Phoebe had her mmr jab at her 1yr appt and had no probs with it. She has a 15 month appt today and has to have some more, but not sure what, can't remember.

Someone sent me this baby sex predicting chart, have a look at it. It was right for Phoebe, and I've checked it for my siblings and their children too and they have all been right bar one!! Try it out and let me know if it was right for your babies - just a bit of fun.

Eshay · 01/11/2005 12:16

MrsEvs, Glad to hear you had a good time in the UK.

We're off to NL this weekend. Last time for a while too as bubs is due in January. We're driving and I wonder what Thomas will be like in the car. He doesn't usually like long car journeys. Any tips?

Last week T had croup, he sounded so horrible. It didn't last very long but has now turned into a normal cold so he's still a bit off-colour. He's not interested in his food much, which is very unusual for him.

He's saying quite a few words these days. Some Dutch, but English seems to be taking over. Not surprising really, since he goes to nursery 4 days a week and hears only English there.

He is completely settled in his new room and cot and actually seems to sleep better there. He's always been a great sleeper but he's even better now! Maybe because the room is darker and the weather is cooler.

T is always very interested in 'drawing' so I would like to try and do some more arty & crafty things with him but I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

MrsEvs · 01/11/2005 19:13

Haven't really done any long car journeys with Phoebe since she was teeny and we moved to DC so haven't really got any pearls of wisdom. I done 25+ flights with her though and I find little books, little snacks and magazines to tear up have been the most diverting things!

I'm not terribly good on arts and crafts either, although Phoebe has just started to really enjoy playdoh. I got a bucket that came with little shapes to press into it and mini rolling pins that leave patterns, I just put a plastic matt on the table or the floor and she loves that. Also got an etch-a-sketch type thing on which she can scribble away with no fear of mess!

No ones tried the baby sex predictor thing (see my post below), I'm dying to know if it got anyone else right! Come on - humour me !

Eshay · 02/11/2005 14:29

I was going to try the predictor thingie but I couldn't remember the details of conception so I left it. I can hardly remember how many weeks pg I am at the mo so the details of last time have been erased from my mind. Sorry.

I have thought about Playdough before but I think it says it's for 3+ so I went to look for something else. I wonder if I should get some for in the car... Probably not the best idea although T would probably love it.

Sponge · 07/11/2005 20:33

God if I gave Harry Playdough he'd just eat it. He's happy to scribble on a bit of paper with a pencil though. I try to keep him away from crayons since the last one went all over him and the sofa.

Eshay · 08/11/2005 10:42

Well, we're back from our trip to NL and it went fine. T got a bit bored in the car but what can you expect? We put him to bed early last night and had to wake him this morning, poor thing. He did have a good time and is defintely crazy about his granddad. Grandma is okay too but he seems to have a preference for my dad.

We did have a little accident while in Holland. T was running around and fell - with his head on the edge of the coffee table. What a lot of blood! He seemed okay after 10-15 minutes so we put a plaster onhim and had our dinner but after dinner the blood came running from under the plaster so we dicided to go to A&E to have it looked at. I'd never been to A&E in Holland but they were great. We seemed to be the onlny patients there so we were in and out in about 15 minuts. They used some sort of super glue to stick his skin back together. Very easy and quick. It really was a big hole so I am glad we decided to go to hospital after all. I would have worried all night and all day yesterday in the car on our way back. In case anyone does not have the NHS European Health Insurance card yet (fill in form at post office) please go and do it now as it was great not to have to worry about paying anything or dealing with our normal travel insurance. The made a copy of Thomas' card and that was it!
