I think I have a flipper foot!

I took DS3 to have his shoes measured for the first time in Clarks, and they were a 6G . The assistant then told me that their range of first shoes do not go up that big, but they managed to find me a pair of canvas doodles so he didn't have to a heavy pair from the toddler range - phew.

At least he shouldn't have a problem with swimming!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 04/10/2005 09:45

Jess has got big feet too!

Got her first "WALKING" shoes at the weekend - 5G - compared to July when she was a 3F!

allboysclub · 04/10/2005 11:20

OMG. I didn't realise they could grow that quickly, no wonder they said I should take him back after 8 weeks. Hmmmm, better get back there soon.

sasa15 · 04/10/2005 22:11

how many August 2004 babies are not walking yet?
ds 14 months just crawling and getting up from forniture/..........

allboysclub · 06/10/2005 10:09

My ds3 was a july04 bab and walking, but a friends dd2 did not walk until 17mths, and my sis at 18mths. Another friends ds stood at 6mths and walked at 8 mths! They all do it at their own pace, but i know it is hard not to worry.

sweetkitty · 06/10/2005 15:46

DD was a 3F when she got her first shoes need to take her back next week for another fitting though. She runs everywhere now as well and never looks where she is going either. Her new favourite game is hide and seek where she waves and tells you bye bye then walks out the room before running back in and you have to make a fuss, she thinks if she cab't see you you can't see her, all very cute.

She has a terrible cold this week so everything within a 10 feet radius is covered in snot, she's ot sleeping well at night either poor wee thing.

Fangache · 06/10/2005 15:50

My dd was a 4.5G 4 weeks ago!!! She's now got size 5F trainers on.

Fangache · 06/10/2005 15:51

SK - Ds was only just 4F (probably more like a 3.5F) when he got his first shoes at 15mths.

oliveoil · 06/10/2005 15:51

Mine isn't walking or crawling .

Makes no attempt at all.

Must not worry must not worry must not worry etc etc.

I went through this with dd1, sigh.

Fangache · 06/10/2005 15:54

Don't worry about it OO!! I don't think the medical profession would even consider it a problem until around 18mths.

Plus.... you've had a lazy one before.

oliveoil · 06/10/2005 15:56

I know I know!!! BUT my friend's baby is 5 days older and steaming round my house whilst my little buddha sits there. It looks really odd. And gets to me. But I will remain calm and remember dd1 was nearly 18 mths before she walked.

Off home now, ta ta, good luck with the sharks .

sweetkitty · 06/10/2005 16:10

That's men for you fangy lazy! Did I tell you we are having a little girl, 2 DDs house of pink poor DP?

Fangache · 06/10/2005 16:14

lol @ Buddha!

SK - Aw COngrats!! Mind you.... my friend was told a girl and she now has Philip!

sweetkitty · 06/10/2005 16:18

Her 3D scan pic is on the member profiles take a look it's awesome, she's georgous like her big sister!

Even DP and I could see she was a girl from the scan no chance of a wee hidden willy.

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 06/10/2005 16:26

Blake isn't walking properly yet - he can stagger a step or two, that's all. Not worried though.

Dinosaur

Fangache · 06/10/2005 16:26

PMSL Dino @ the haloween name!

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 06/10/2005 16:27

Thank you - no-one else has mentioned it! I think yours is rather fine too!

littlerach · 07/10/2005 12:01

well, I didn't know who either of you were! Baby brain still hanging around!!

SK, DH always says he is surrounded by pink, though I think he loves it. He said that Evie was going to be a tomboy and a substitute boy, he was horrified to find her carrying a sparkly pink handbag everywhere last week!

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 07/10/2005 12:17

I have the opposite problem - three DSs and DH! But DS2 is very in touch with his feminine side, loves pink and dressing up!

MrsEvs · 08/10/2005 08:31

Hi All, and welcome to the newcomers. Had to get Phoebe her 2nd pair of shoes this week too 6F!

SK very exciting about the girl, will check out the pic in a minute. I'm dying to know what we're having, but won't be able to find out for 6 weeks or so - I'm so impatient!

Eshay, keep us updated about your success with the toddler bed, Phoebe is trying to climb out of the cot and with number 2 due in April I was thinking about trying that with her sometime soon. My main worry is that she seems to do all sorts of twists and somersaults in her cot, I'd be afraid she's fall out every 2 seconds but I suppose they get used to it pretty fast.

Also Phoebe does hit, yes. It doesn't seem to be malicious either, just pointing and playing that gets a bit out of hand once in a while. She doesn't do it if she is cross or throwing one of her really quite impressive hissy fits, it's usually when we're playing and laughing together and she gets a bit over excited. I just calm it down a bit and tell her to be gentle (no idea if she knows what I'm on about mind you, but I try )

She frightened the daylights out of me today - pulled a plug out of the wall and put it in her mouth (US plugs are much easier to do this with than UK ones and there is no on/off switch on the socket, they are just permanently live!) - I literally dived accross the room to get to her in stuntwomanly fashion! Scary. She just laughed, obviously .

sweetkitty · 09/10/2005 09:57

Abbie's first cot is being delivered on Thursday, she had a moses basket and a lovely crib never slept in any of them, she starts the night in a travel cot then about 4ish comes in with us.

We've painted her room and are just waiting on the furniture arriving now, don't know what she will make of a cot, we are going to try and get her sleeping through the night in it before Christmas and the arrival of no 2. Any tips would be great!!! She's becoming a nightmare to sleep with though she's all over the place now and you regularly get punched/kicked although this is mostly DP as she seems to want to snuggle up to him now. It's nice for me I get peace but not for him. I love sleeping next to her but think it's time for her to have her own bed.

oops sorry about the double post - PC's playing up this morning

Eshay · 09/10/2005 10:19

Mrs Evs, Thomas is in a cot bed, not a toddler bed. Really this is just a cot but a bit bigger so there's still no chance of him climbing or falling out. It does convert into proper little bed once he is a bit older but for now I wouldn't dream of him lying in a 'real' bed. He would fall out for sure. He has been all right in his new cot bed but I do think he sometimes feels it is a bit big as he seems to cry more than he used to. We just leave him to cry and he always goes back to sleep again. Phew.

Sweetkitty, I'm not sure I have any tips for you as T has never slept in our bed with us so I've never had to make that big a change in his routine. I suppose it might be a good idea to have your DD carry her favourite nighttime cuddlies to her new cot herself and maybe keep using old sheets/sleeping bag for a while so that is still familiar to her.

Eshay · 11/10/2005 21:27

We just bought T his first pillow. Does anyone have experience in introducing their little one to a pillow? Or any valid reasons for postponing the introduction of one?
