Don't know I'm afraid Eshay, but was wondering about pillows and when they need them the other day. Was also wondering about covers now that it is getting a bit nippy at night. Last winter when it was really cold (and it does get bloody cold here in DC), Pheebs slept in a fleece all in one and then was also in one of those blanket sleeper things, you know the blanket you can zip them up in. Don't know what to do this year as now she's on her feet the sleep sack thing will be no good and she just kicks any blankets off. Can you put comforters in the cot yet or is it still a bit dodgy? Don't know how to keep the little mite warm?!?!

littlerach · 12/10/2005 10:17

The advice when DD1 was little was that pillows are fine after a year. Not sure if ti is the same, things change so quickly!

Evie fell over in the bathroom yesterday and bashed her fac on the wooden ledge. She screamed and there was blood. Luckily I had some frozen frubes in the freezer so she sucked one for a while and it hasn't swollen too much. But she has a cut on her lip and a bruise on the side of her mouth. Poor soul. It hapened just as we were about to go to pick DD1 up too.

Hello all. My dd had a pillow from very early on as she co-slept with me! When I put her in a cot at 6months she wouldn't sleep without a pillow. So I bought her a baby pillow from Ikea and put it UNDER the sheet she couldn't pull it over her face. When she approached a year old I put it on top of the sheets. She sleeps down the other end anyway!!!

M2T · 12/10/2005 10:26

Its Toothache by the way.... using my old posting name.

littlerach · 12/10/2005 10:43

I did wonder when I saw you on some other threads!1

Why the change?

Jemma7 · 12/10/2005 11:21

My DD has a pillow too. She has had one now for about 4 months and loves it.
She was sick a few weeks ago and had a couple of nights without it (didn't have chance to buy a new one) and she didn't sleep anywhere near as well.
Old posting name too - can't be arsed to change it again!

M2T · 12/10/2005 11:23

Littlerach - There is a thread on the go where you only post in your original posting name. I changed yesterday and can't be arsed changing back.

Springchicken · 12/10/2005 11:28

Phew! changed back.
I kept posting on threads and wondering where my posts had gone

littlerach · 12/10/2005 14:30

Oh I am really boring as I've never changed my name. Except at Xmas.

Well, we had the pilow lying around in the lounge this morning and I showed T that it's nice and cuddly to put your head on and he seemed to understand immediately and kept returning to the pillow to put his head on it. We don't have a pillowcase yet though so he'll have to wait a wee while. My mum is going to buy some material and sew some! Just the thing she likes!

Mrs Evs, I've read that duvets are okay from about a year or so but I am not going to get one as I much prefer T to sleep in his sleeping bag. At the moment it's not too cold yet so he has athin summer one but I have a super bulky winter one ready for when the weather turns. If it's extra cold you can just put on warmer PJs underneath. Of course I don't know just how cold DC gets so it might not be enough for you to stick to that. T just always ends up sideways or the wrong way around in his cot so any blanket or duvet just wouldn't do and if there's anything I want to avoid at all costs, it's for him to wake up in the night. I need my sleep!

Littlerach, your poor Evie. It's awful when these things happen, isn't it? And you know it's not going to be the last time either... The other day Thomas was running through a shopping centre and took a dive. Result - a bloody lip, which we didn't notice right away so we had a few people staring... And he's always covered in bruises. But I suppose that's normal for little boys and girls this age, isn't it?

Eshay · 12/10/2005 14:35

I've never changed my name at all, not even for Xmas... The queen of boring!

sweetkitty · 12/10/2005 14:36

My DD sleeps on my pillow mostly am going to get her one when she has her new cot.

She's got a lovely red and swollen nose now as she tripped over her feet this morning and smacked her nose against the edge of the door. It's unavoidable at this age try telling that to my other though who thinks I should be 2 inches away from her at all times to prevent these things and children having bruises = bad parents!

Bought DD some lovely clarks pink and fur boots this morning couldn't resist, she's now a size 4 1/2 E tiny feet bless her.

sweetkitty · 12/10/2005 14:37

meant try telling that to my mother

snot filled pregnant brain!

littlerach · 12/10/2005 14:38

Ok now I feel better on both counts!!

Springchicken · 12/10/2005 14:44

Evie has started grinding her teeth ARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

The sound is just horrendous - I wis she would stop, doing it right noe and laughing at me when i keep putting her dummy in to stop her.

dinosaur · 12/10/2005 15:07

Hello all, I've changed my name back (was hocuspocusdiplodocus for a few days).

sweetkitty, good luck with the cot! Blake sleeps through the night in his cot now and it is MARVELLOUS.

MrsEvs · 13/10/2005 14:31

Phoebe is also constantly covered in bruises and cut her lip falling off the sofa the other day, so I think we're all in the same boat.

Eshay - thanks for the info. I do have a sleeping bag for Pheebs that would be warm enough with some fleece jamas, but I was thinking that now she runs up and down her cot that a sleeping sack thing would just trip her up - do you not find that? Phoebe does all sorts of twists and turns in the night too, so I'm not sure a cover would be much use anyway.

MrsEvs · 13/10/2005 14:32

Meant to say, am flying home tomorrow for a week - am so excited

Eshay · 13/10/2005 16:35

MrsEvs - So far I have not had any problems with T falling over b/c he's in a sleeping bag. He usually gets it all twisted round his waist so that makes it difficult for him to get up at all.
Enjoy your trip!

Sponge · 13/10/2005 21:13

Harry's in a sleeping bag and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. He can stand up in it fine. He's also a squirmer, nearly always ends up the ohter way round from how I put him down, so I'm not risking covers for a while yet. No pillow either. He sleeps fine without so I can't see a reason to change things yet.

Have you all done your MMRs yet?
We missed Harry's first appointment and he's been sent another for next week. Can't decide whether to take him yet or not.

Springchicken · 14/10/2005 10:45

Evie had her MMR just after her birthday in July. Wasn't too bad at all, think it made her feel better that the nurse got me at the same time too. Told me whilst making small talk that because of age I needed to have a second injection due to rises in our area over the last year.

littlerach · 14/10/2005 11:14

We had the single ones done for DD1 so have done the same for DD2. She had the measles one last week while DD1 had her last mumps booster.
MM, taking 2 for their jabs was not the most fun. DD1 actually tried o leave the room and told the doctor that she wouldn't ler her do it!! Evie smiled sweetly until the jab, then shrieked at her!

SC, how ghastly having to have yours done too. Would not have enjoyed that at all!! Reminds me of blood tests and the like when pg. Shudder.

sweetkitty · 15/10/2005 11:49

Due to moving areas we haven't had Abbie's MMR done yet but we will be getting her done at some point.

Got her a little pair of wellies so we're off out today to try them out!

teeavee · 15/10/2005 12:44

Toot-to-toot toot too too too!

My ds took his first steps just before lunch!!!

He'll be 15 months in 3 days.

sweetkitty · 15/10/2005 13:11

whoohooo bless him

DD was hysterical in her wellies, kept taking big steps and looking at her feet!
