Morning everyone. Isn't it nice nowthatthe weather has cheered up - can't believe it was snowing here only a fortnight ago!! Ds is now just on 2 x 9oz bottles of formula a day - one on waking, and one at bedtime. NOt sire when we are supposed to change those to full fat milk - is it when he's one?

lunavix · 21/03/2005 10:12

I gave ds a hommous sandwich which he loved!

Gets me so mad when he goes round grannies though - what did he have for lunch - a winnie the pooh fairy cake!

"Well he was a good boy and ate all his dinner!"

"What was his dinner?"

"A cheese sandwich..."

"And?"

"...a bag of wotsits"

GRRRRRR @ MILs

TracyK · 21/03/2005 10:51

Lucy - does your ds have breaksfast after his 9oz bottle? My ds has a bottle for breakfast but doesn't then have any time/inclination for 'proper' breakfast. Maybe a couple of strawberries if I have any. the next food he gets is about 10ish at nursery.

LucyJones · 21/03/2005 10:52

Yes, he has a weetabix and half a banana at 8am. I think his bottle is 9oz, could be 7oz. Dh makes them up

lunavix · 21/03/2005 10:54

We have a 7oz bottle at 7.30, weetabix and a banana or equivealent in porridge or cheerios at 9.

Then the next thing he has is lunch at 12.
4oz bottle at 2.30, dinner at 5, 7oz at 7pm.

So I spose we should make it two 9oz bottles (they're meant to have 18oz aren't they) then move lunch till 1pm. I'm just worried going four hours with nothing he'll need snacks and things

TracyK · 21/03/2005 10:55

How long between milk and brekky?
I wonder if I should reduce his first bottle - but I presume as it's formula it's as good nourishment as if it were food?

LucyJones · 21/03/2005 10:56

I don't offer ds any snacks at the moment - just water in the afternoons and he seems quite happy with that. At the moment that is!!!

TracyK · 21/03/2005 11:02

we have 7 or 8 oz - drunk between waking and leaving for nursery so between 6.30-8am.
Then snack of crackers or fruit at 10ish at nursery.
Lunch at nursery at 12, banana in car at 12.45, organic buscuits/raisins and some cows milk on waking at 3.
Dinner anytime between 4 and 5.30 (depending on how much lunch he's had).
8 oz at 6.45/bed.

Chuffed · 21/03/2005 13:36

dd has brekky at about 7.30 1/2banana & 1/2 weetbix plus some formula + about a 1/2 slice of vegemite toast.
She then has the rest of the bottle of formula in her cup. (we make up 6oz in the am).
about 10ish she has formula (5oz) + cracker/fruit at nursery.
12noon nursery lunch things like tuna bake/vegetable stew + some fruit.
about 2ish a bottle of formula (5oz)
4ish some tea which is normally fruit/cracker/small sandwich
Then dinner at 6ish whatever we're having until she doesn't want any more, fruit.
Then after bath which is normally about 7ish a 5oz bottle.
She seems to have quite a bit...

Chuffed · 21/03/2005 13:37

ohh dd likes a hommous sandwich too. Yesterday she had a hommous and brie sandwich which went down quite well.

LucyJones · 21/03/2005 13:43

So no one has switiched from formula to cow's milk as a drink yet? Tracy - does your ds manage to eat a banana in the car without making a mess?!!

dot1 · 21/03/2005 14:27

we switched to cow's milk a few weeks ago, but are now having a dilemma 'cos he's just developing eczema... So he's on goat's milk for this week to see how that goes, and then hopefully back to cow's milk - to test whether he could be having an allergic reaction to it.

On Thursday and Friday - his 2 nursery days, ds has this:

7oz bottle at 7am
Weetabix + Shreddies at home (about 7.30am)
Breakfast at nursery (usually readybrek at 8.30)
lunch + 7oz bottle (12pm)
afternoon tea + 7oz bottle (4pm)
tea when he gets home (6pm)

Good grief!!! But the days when he has something mid-afternoon are the days he's happiest at tea time, so we've started giving him a toasted tea cake or similar at about 3.30/4pm. Keeps him going until tea at 6pm.

dot1 · 21/03/2005 14:28

ooh - and although ds is still in 18 - 24 month clothes he seems to be thinning out! It's not so much that his trousers fall down - they're just not cutting into him so much!!

lunavix · 21/03/2005 14:46

Oh so me upping food won't be too much then!

Ds had 2 slices of bread with hommous for lunch and half a peach! Ate nearly all of it (minimal amount squashed into carpet!)

And... he climbed up the stairs!!! Well only one step but I'm ever so proud lol. Should I put this in his baby book under 'climbed stairs' or wait till he's older and I let him climb the lot?!!

TracyK · 21/03/2005 20:58

Blooming heck dot1 - thats a lot of eating/drinking going on! The only things I can get ds to eat a lot of are brocolli and fruit - he'd eat till he was sick!
Yes LucyJ - he can wolf a banana in the car no problem. I just need to catch it nearing the end of the skin - otherwise he turns it upsidedown and tries to eat the skin - yuk! He looks like a proper little boy eating normal things like banana and little packets of organic crisps. so cute!

dolbear · 21/03/2005 21:23

hello ds does not show any interest in eating at all and he is a big boy !
I struggle to get any breakfast down him , porrige - weetabix etc
lunch - forget it
a little diinner carrots and banana - maybe
like cookies though
mum thought that he was eating his rusk until she tried to find her white choc cookie !!!
anughty - but funny

dot1 · 21/03/2005 22:11

ds2 loves eating dry coco pops (shame on us!) As soon as he sees the packet - ds1 has them (I know - but he's a dreadful eater so it's whatever we can get down him!) he starts howling until we give him a few to play with/eat..! It's amazing how different he is to ds1, who had already cut out milk completely at this age - of his own accord - and was already quite a fussy eater...

KristinaM · 22/03/2005 06:25

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I just got a BFP!!!! Am still in denial. How can this have happened? We hardly EVER have sex ( baby stilll not sleeping through the night). And we are using contraception. AND I'M STILL BF!!!!!!!!

KristinaM · 22/03/2005 06:26

Hi, I'm still here! My sister's baby was one in March and she is due 24th August. She was shocked but now is looking forward to it. It will be hard work, but worth the effort in the end
