Well off for the '9mth' developmental check later this morning. Will be collecting my goodie bag.
Sick again last night, cough just doesn't seem to be disappearing as quickly as I thought it would and snotty nose is back to green again. Gee that's a look I love in children...
Hows it going YG? Did you have to go up to the hospital?

dot1 · 10/03/2005 10:15

YG - how are things? Sooooo horrible when they're really poorly.

Packed the kids off to nursery today, so just hoping we can get through the day without either the baby or toddler room phoning to ask us to come and get them! Ds2's getting worse at sleeping - last night he was awake for nearly an hour at 3am (couldn't bear to get up so he eventually settled back down), 5am (ignored again) and finally 6.30am. Really don't understand why he's not sleeping through - unless it's his teeth..? (he CAN'T be hungry!)

TracyK · 10/03/2005 10:20

Remember the mantra Dot - 'it's just a phase...'
ds goes through waking early every couple of weeks.

dot1 · 10/03/2005 11:26

I know, but since he's been born (nearly a year ago, of course) I reckon he's slept until 7am about 5 - 6 times. Ds1 slept from 7pm - 7am every night from a few months old!!! (we were VERY lucky!).

TracyK · 10/03/2005 11:30

My ds also - but then anytime after 6am is now classed as acceptable! I was always used to getting up at 6.30 anyway and now 6am is better than 4am!!

dot1 · 10/03/2005 11:31

eugh - anything before 7am is torture, but we're starting to see 6.30am as a lie in!!!

Chuffed · 10/03/2005 13:16

dot could he be thirsty?
we are lucky too, hopefully the next one will be the same but who knows.
well got my bookstart stuff and toothbrush and toothpaste for dd from HV. She has lost weight since the trip to the hospital down to 8.76kg so 19.3 pounds. Not anything to worry about though.
She is at nursery this afternoon for the first time all week so we'll see how we go.

dolbear · 11/03/2005 10:27

you know i was thinking the other day , its a sad time when you get excited at sleeping until 6am ! ds slept through for 5 days last week , I was practiacly high with all the extra sleep !!
bad night last nigh , but did the same and ignored him until 6am when we gave him his bottle - hve gone back to water only until 6am and now he is FINALY holding his bottle it is a bit easier
lve and hugs it ick bee bees ( and mums )

dot1 · 11/03/2005 12:08

ds holds his milk bottle now - positively grabs it out of your hands! Bit sad though -I feel a bit redundant..!

He might be thirsty I suppose (it was 5.30am again today) - could try leaving a cup of water in his cot? We did this for ds1 but I'm sure he was older..?

tid · 11/03/2005 14:51

DD has been waking very early the last week or so as well. I've put it down to the fact that it's getting light earlier atm. The last two nights I have blocked every possible source of light from DD's room and she has been sleeping to 7 am again! Don't know if that's just coincidence, but I'm going to keep it up until the clocks go forward again.

Fennel · 11/03/2005 16:48

isn't it weird how when you have children you start dreading the "extra hour" lie in when the clocks change in October, and looking forward to losing an hour in March?

dd3 now coming down with virus which the other 2 still have. after 2 days at home with them all 3 being needy I am at least convinced that I couldn't be a SAHM! I have looked at my watch at least every 5 mins today just willing the day away and it's been the longest day in years...

dolbear · 11/03/2005 17:31

ANY excuse for more sleep would be gratefully received here !

dot1 · 13/03/2005 09:22

a 4.30am start here - can't do this for much longer..! Tonight we're going to try:

  1. duvet on his cot (well, he's nearly one...)
  2. back in a fuzzy sleepsuit - he's been in pyjamas but they're not as warm
  3. cup of water in his cot

we've already got black out material, so his room's pitch black.

Any more suggestions???!

TracyK · 13/03/2005 10:23

we got ds a lullaby/night light thingy that comes on when he cries or coughs too loudly. It sometimes sends him back to sleep as he associate it with nightime??
Altho it was 5.15 am again this morning after most of last week being 6.15-6.30. But he came through to our bed and went back to sleep till 7.30. His little hands were cold tho when I fetched him - but the rest of his was warm.

Bless her.

Ds has caught gastro AGAIN. He's been pooing ick for days, and today we had a repeat of the super-flying-projectile vomit. His wee's dark (he's not as interested in diaoralyte as last time) and he's got an off/on temperature (although I can't find our thermometre anywhere )

Him and one of his little baby friends seem to be passing it between them, I feel really bad but I'm going to need to be so strict seperating them if they have symptoms of being ill they DO NOT play or share drinks or anything. Last time he got it I became really ill too, and we just can't afford for either me or dp to get sick.

LucyJones · 14/03/2005 18:36

Sorry Yorkiegirl - have been away and missed all the drama. Hope dd gest well soon {{{{{hugs}}}}}}} to her and you

lunavix · 14/03/2005 18:37

Just been to GP and ds has been given the doubly strong diarolyte, plus paracetamol... supposotries

Ick Ick Ick he has recurrent diorrhea! I have no idea how we are going to do this lol

Chuffed · 14/03/2005 19:26

Oh Golly hugs to all the sicky bubs. dd is finally more herself and has been tucking into meals and lots of laughter. It is so nice to have our daughter back finally...be interesting to see how long it lasts though.
Hope sleep goes well tonight dot, we had a some ungodly hour wake up last night but was informed by nursery today that dd was teething so hopefully it was just that.

dolbear · 14/03/2005 19:39

oooo - hugs and luvs accross the highway to all those suffering
ds got his hopital appt 2-morrow to check for squints !

Fennel · 14/03/2005 19:50

sorry to hear about all the sickly babies especially those in hospital

i have 2 girls still sick, for over a week now, but dd3 escaped with just a sniffle. in fact she's too hearty and getting quite stroppy and toddlerish - to my dismay I want to keep a mellow baby not have a loud opinionated toddler.

LucyJones · 14/03/2005 19:52

ooh Lunavix that sounds luvverly (not)!!!! Apparently there is going to be a mini heat wave at the end of the week so hopefully it will bring with it good health to all our little ones!!!

spagblog · 14/03/2005 19:56

oooh suppositaries...eek!
I went to see the Drs too as DS has had the squits for a week now. I came away with four tins of soya formula...We'll have to see if it helps.
He squitted on my lap today during nappy change...Mmmm!

dot1 · 14/03/2005 21:19

poor babies - horrible to think of them being so poorly - hope your dd is recovering well YG.

Success last night!!! Cooking ds2 seemed to work - he woke up at 6.45am today - his best for months..! I suppose it could have been a coincidence though - we'll see in the morning...

TracyK · 15/03/2005 08:56

poor babies - lets hope the warm weekend brings some good health! altho the warm weather may just warm up those germs!
Blooming ds has a new habit of waking at 12/12.30am for some water/cuddle - thats 2 nights in a row now. I hope he stops it soon.
