we missed the mmr appointment (well I 'forgot'). But am waiting till ds is nearer 2 before we give him - prob single measles.
12 mo is too young i reckon to give a triple dose of 3 diseases.

Chuffed · 17/03/2005 12:02

Geez is it 12 months - HV seemed to think it was something to think about at the 13mth.
Good point about the ovaries YG I think we're going to go single jabs if we can and dh and I are agreed on it.
At least here you do get the option (sort of) in NZ it is MMR or nothing.

Chuffed · 17/03/2005 12:02

dolbear how did the resignation go?

dolbear · 17/03/2005 12:14

not too bad thanikx chuffed , better than i thought
feel sooo much better now
ds is @ the mo in a carboard box full of peanuts ( packing bits and is in heaven !

LucyJones · 17/03/2005 12:22

Congrats on resigning dolbear - welcome to the club!! I've only got a couple more weeks to go now. We're getting the MMR here. when the time comes (not sure when it is though?)

dot1 · 17/03/2005 13:26

ds1 had MMR when he was about 14 months and I was fine about it, but ds2's just developed eczema and is slightly wheezy/asthma-y and I'm starting to get a bit nervous! Want to pick Jim Jam's brains, as she's mentioned a link (or maybe that's too strong a word)between auto immune diseases and difficulties with vaccinations. I've got thyroid problems aswell (another auto immune disorder) which I don't know whether I've passed on, but all in all I'm a bit nervous about the whole MMR thing at the moment - will probably leave it a few months anyway, but then go ahead when ds2's at least 14 months old. I still think the risks of having it done are tiny compared to horrible-ness of measles in particular, but it's very tricky indeed....

LucyJones · 17/03/2005 13:29

Poor you Dot, so many things to think about The only thing i would say with what Chuffed's point about it being more harmful to boys. What if a dd got it and passed it on to someone's ds?

dot1 · 18/03/2005 08:43

sooooo cute - I just had to post - ds2's discovered playing boo! He covers his eyes and does an "aahhh boo!" sound (only it comes out as "ahhh da!"). Cutest thing is he can only find his eyes by putting his hands at each side of his head and sliding them around until his eyes are covered - bless!!!

I love things like this - makes it all worthwhile!

Chuffed · 18/03/2005 09:32

totally - everything else I had outside of home/work such as gymming has gone out the window as I just want to spend as much time with dd and soak in all the cute things.

lunavix · 18/03/2005 09:39

Oh that is gorgeous

Ds isn't doing anything new really at the moment, although as he hasn't been eating solids (but still wanted his milk) he's really hungry when he gets to milk time - and he's been signing milk! I'm so proud, he did it once or twice before but it's a lot like his way of waving hello. But this is definately milk

I'm no longer a smug mummy... my 'waking at 6 but playing in cot till 7.30 baby' has morphed into a 'waking at 5.30 and screaming baby'! DP insists we leave him though (he thinks if we ignore him till 7.30 he'll get the message we don't want him to wake up till then - not sure about that...) so I dread to think what the neighbours think of us.

Dp really hates the early waking, so today (dp leaves for work at 6.45 on a friday) I suggested on his way out the door to put a bottle of water in ds's cot - and he stopped crying till 7.30!!

Does anyone know what the theory on that is? I don't know where I got it from, I'm sure it's recommended for early rising but surely they'll just come to expect a drink?

TracyK · 18/03/2005 09:54

How cute! they are all so lovely and the sun is shining!
maybe the babies are thirsty - my ds is I think with all the central heating and bad cough. I know I'm thirsty when I wake up sometimes.
Was the water in a cup or a bottle - I think my ds likes the water from a bottle as a comfort. But I leave the bottle with him, go for a pee and leave him to it.

dot1 · 18/03/2005 10:45

we found putting a cup of water in with ds1 really helped - he's 3 now and still has it in bed with him! Just started doing this with ds2, so maybe it's helped with his sleeping - although it's creeping back a bit earlier now - 6.05am today....

TracyK · 19/03/2005 14:16

I left dh in charge for the morning while I went for a facial. Came home to give ds lunch - to find out that he'd had 5 biscuits, half a tin of orange segments and 6 oz of milk! didn't want any lunch funnily enough!
Now I know dh doesn't listen to me as I've told him ds doesn't have any formula during the day any more!

Fennel · 20/03/2005 09:32

hi all. am packing to go on holiday this afternoon so am mega-stressed - packing while dds are busy unpacking/helping/generally getting overexcited....

traceyk, my dp tends to forget to feed the baby at all when he looks after her. he just gives her milk.

dds all sleeping til after 7 this week but I keep waking at 5 or 6 anyway, out of habit. will have to start early morning jogging or something to use the time.

mmr causes no arguments in our house, we save that for the windsurfing season (which has just started, am now officially a windsurf widow til November....)

Morning! We've just had a wonderful lie in - ds's were at the grandparents last night!!!

Ds2's sore bottom/eczema is much better already since cutting out cow's milk - not sure if this is co-incidence but we've decided to try him on goat's milk for a week to see if the improvement continues...

Fennel - have a wonderful holiday!!

handlemecarefully · 20/03/2005 12:09

If I havent already missed you fennel have a lovely break.

Have a great trip Fennel if I haven't missed you.
HMC - welcome back!

How lovely was Saturday!!! We went off to the park and dd had great fun dog spotting and shouting aghhh aghhh at all the other little toddlers.

dd still on 4 bottles (cups) a day of formula and we'll just keep that going now as it means that she gets some of the vitamins etc that she needs.

dot how do you keep up your ds1's trousers as we're having the same trouble with dd apart from a few pairs all the 1-1.5yrs stuff won't barely stay up with a belt on and it makes it hard for her to walk with a crutch around her knees.

Oh well better get back to work...Have a good day!

handlemecarefully · 21/03/2005 08:38

A good nights sleep does you a power of good doesn't it Yorkiegirl. Thankfully ds is now sleeping through 75% of the time, however he is up by 6.15!

Lovely weekend wasn't it Chuffed. So relieved that spring is here. Took dd and ds out on some long walks, and ds got 'sunkissed' - quite a red face from the sun! Ooops - I didn't think there was much power in March sunshine. Will be getting sunblock out in future.

I haven't had the trousers falling down thing yet but ds is still in 9 - 12 months trousers. I guess when he graduates to 12-18 months we'll get the same problem. I have seen some babies wearing little mini braces!

TracyK · 21/03/2005 08:46

bugger - it was quite cold here. Quite misty on sat for ages.
I used dungarees in favour of trousers for the falling down thingy.
ds sleeps through now but still an early riser - anytime between 5.15 and 6.30am!
I just go to bed at 9.30 to compensate. Thankfully not expressing anymore - so thats an extra 20 mins pre bed routine!

lunavix · 21/03/2005 09:18

Morning everyone!

As usual I have the same old question about solids - how much is everyone eating? SInce recovering from gastro ds's appetite has been enormous, he won't stop eating and every 5 minutes he's frantically making the milk sign! He normally has about half a bowl of food twice a day, with finger food for lunch (a slice of toast and a piece of fruit) but now he is just ravenous. Was wondering if now was the right time to drop the middle day bottle, and just have one at morning and one at night, so he gets used to just having food when he's hungry? Although what would I do about him having two nine and a half ounce bottles - they don't go up that far!!

No troubles with falling down trousers here, he's still in 9 - 12 months. And with the big cloth nappy bums, they're staying on lovely

Enormous is good - eh?

I am delighted that ds seems to enjoy his food. He seems far less faddy than his sister was at his age and will try most foods. I really hope it lasts...

handlemecarefully · 21/03/2005 10:07

He ate coronation chicken tortilla yesterday. Dd just looked at hers with disdain.
