Amber, they go by your BMI - so you have to have a BMI of over 30.

poppy, hope you enjoy buggy fit - I've been a few times and love it! No nap routine here, Alex does his own thing during the day which suits my social life! Know what you mean about the teeth - quite happy for him to teeth as late as poss!

TJuice, we've had our pram in stroller mode for about two weeks now (Alex is 17 weeks old) but mainly have it reclined right back unless he's wide awake and wants to see what's going on.

PP, love the VIPs! Although judging by some of the policeman I know I wouldn't rely on them to keep your LO on the straight and narrow!!!

Lin06 did I hear someone ask for wedding advice?? as a veteran of 3 with no. 4 on Saturday (Charlotte is 14 weeks) here are our top tips...

feed shortly before the ceremony, and sit near the door for a sharp exit, or if you have a nearby grandparent get them to take the baby during the ceremony so you're not worrying about noise!

take a change of clothes for you as well as baby.

ask the bride and groom to leave an empty space at your table if possible to put your buggy in, and also to be on a table by the door for exits during speeches.

don't forget toys!

so far we've left just about 10pm, but mainly because we're knackered! (also, by this point drunk people start to coo over the baby and get a bit too close...

whinegums thursday 23rd 2pm then? silverburn? katyjo can you join us?

needahand · 13/10/2008 13:25

Hedgehog we have the same bag! I find it brilliant too and quite nice looking

Sophie I can't believe you are so together that you have started your Xmas shopping. I should really take a leaf out of your book

AH so jealous of you being in Canada, must be lovely (apart from the nightime issues obviously)

needahand · 13/10/2008 13:53

Tjuice re cups , I think the answer is when they can hold them which varies with all babies but I think it is around 6 months.

Re pram in stroller mode, there is no set rule either, if you lo is interested in looking around and if the carrycot bit/bassinet is getting two small, it is time. WIth DD I think we put her in the stroller from 3 months, with SJ I haven't yet but was thinking last week that I should really. The only reason I am resisting is because at the moment he will only sleep on me or in the bugaboo during the day and I want to teach him not to fall asleep on me anymore before I go back to work. He is in stroller mode when he goes in the double pram though (yes.. I have two prams...in fact I have three )

I am very chuffed today as we found a lovely nanny on Saturday and she has accepted the job. The kids loved her so I hope it will go well

sophie the weather was lovely here too so we went to the seaside in Weston...only to realise there was a motorbike race..so it wasn't as relaxing noisewise as I would have liked, but it was still nice. We didn't brave going in the water though!

Paro sorry fleur is unwell, I hope she will feel better soon. Re her eye, I know for adults you can used cooled camomile but not sure if you can use it on babies (although i don't see why not), and if you are bf, a little bit of bf on the eye works well too.

Hmm still no GF and Neen and Rolf where are they?

Upsidedowncake · 13/10/2008 13:56

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days and thanks to all who suggested wedding clothes.

we went away to a wedding over the weekend and DS had his first sleepover - with two big girls aged 5 and 7 - and he loved it!

Laura, wish I'd read your advice before the wedding rather than afterwards! I ended up missing the speeches altogether and arriving half way through the starter. So for dinner we were 'bumped' to the table with the olds - which was actually rather mroe interesting than sitting with a load of 30 year olds, and DH and I then had our first public dance together for four years. (Most of our friends got married years ago as I am ancient!)

Amber, hope the anti-ds / as sort themselves out. poor you.

AH, hope sleep gets better.

Terrified at everyone weaning - I don't even want to start thinking about it yet!

goingfor3 · 13/10/2008 14:55

I'm a bit confused at the moment, I thought ds is 21 weeks tommorow yet he was born on May 20th and Paro's dd is 22 weeks and born on the 30th May. Must look at a calender!!!

needahand · 13/10/2008 15:22

Oh yeah forgot to say, weaning is going well, I really think SJ was ready, he literally throws himself at the spoon when he sees it.

poppy34 · 13/10/2008 15:34

cool -thanks para and pp -I am in two minds re geting too rigid on nap routine (alghouh would like to have her beter re settling when is at home) as I've got no desire to live life like someone a friend told me about who was so hooked on a certain nameless routine system that she ended up missing the ferry on holiday....

Think I'll go the para route

needahand cool news re nanny -how did you find her? I've now named date re going back to work (not til april) but need to find nanny for before then to get edie used to her - was going to go via agency but am slightly nervous not so much due to cost but in case you end up with only one type of nanny. and neenz is around (was on another thread I was on)...

UDC sounds like wedding went ok -know what you mean re not looking forward to weaning.. having got quite deft wtih bottles am reluctant to move on..

Parofleurmapu · 13/10/2008 15:48

G43 nope youre right im wrong DP is just shouting at me for being diffy with maths !!! fleur is 19weeks and is 4mths and 2 weeks old!!! I
me and my crappy maths just went 4 mths = 20weeks and add two weeks!!! hehe lol

hedgehog1979 · 13/10/2008 16:03

poppy i too have named a back to work date, now need to see if they can accomodate me part time

we have a sort of nap routine, but it either ends up with isaac sleeping on me or on the flour in his playgym. I am not yet organised to take him upstairs yet.

i still have the pushchair in pram mode (isaac is 16 weeks tomorrow) but have been thinking about putting it in pushchair mode, but am holding off for as long as possible.

DH is off to see queen at the O2 tonight so i am becoming a single mum for the evening and then we have our final set of jabs tomorrow

needahand · 13/10/2008 17:06

poppy we went through agency route as they are supposed to vet candidate and often provide written references. We enrolled with three agencies. One didn't listen to what we wanted and probably sent us all the applicants on their books even when we had said we didn't want something specific(eg a nanny who brings her own child to work). The other two agencies really listened to our requirement and sent candidate accordingly. The agency who found our nanny only sent us one cv in two weeks!

needahand · 13/10/2008 17:08

forgot to say. SJ rolled over for the first time today> I was so proud.

TJuice · 13/10/2008 17:08

thanks ladies. think i will try stroller mode this weekend.
am thinking of buying an urban detour too . . .my pliko pramette has taken a battering on the cobbled streets here.

feel so bad today, cut a little bit of Elodie's nail with the clippers! I was in tears for longer then she was but i can tell its been stinging today! it wouldn't stop bleeding for ages - i am such a clumb-nut.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/10/2008 19:04

Hello all.
Sorry busy weekend with guests and parties (us on Sat night and DD on Sun lunchtime) then panic stations as our lovely local pub is closed for food this weekend so was panickinh about what the hell I was going to do for 25 people for Sunday lunch, didn't want to cook again as doing supper on Friday but some lovely friends are opening up their Bistro just for us and doing Roast beef.

I have had a quick look through threads.

We started Edie on a cup when she could hold it comfortably by herself so I guess 6 months, I know it was after we started weaning her.

Daytime naps, vaguely getting into a routine now but not in a cot, he has a chair (the one you used Laura or a duvet on the sofa, and generally goes to sleep after his first drink in morning and then after lunchtime one until 3 ish, he might doze of mid morning as well, then he sleeps after bath and bottle.

Not to sure where experienced Mummy came from there are more on here with more DC's but happy to help.

We have got jabs here again this week the final lot thank goodness and then baptism this weekend.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/10/2008 19:10

And Christmas shopping I always do early. Did all godparents last week but don't think I can get away with wrapping them for this weekend and giving them to them.

I get nephews from Book People which are great and do a lot online.

I also cheat and if I see something I like I will get a few, eg, when Dangerous Book for Boys came out, older nephew, brothers friends etc got that so that makes things easy and the charity Christmas fairs which are on about now are a good place to get stuff.

I also suggest to people what they get Edie for Christmas so we don't end up with too much, last year we gave her a kitchen so we asked for stuff to kit it out.

This year she has a doll so again will ask for certain things.

Amberc · 13/10/2008 20:15

Tjuice - I've had Luke in stroller mode since he was 8 weeks but it does do an almost full recline. He was so much happier facing outward - must have got bored of looking at my mug or the sky! Also he seemed to hate to be completely flat and preferred to sit up a bit. Got the cosy toes (or duvet for a small boy!) and it's so lovely I want to get in!

Thanks for all the messages of support - appreciated. I am feeling a bit better now as side effects seem to be tailing off but am a bit 'stoned' and disinterested but hey I was so tired before that I got almost the same effect anyway!

Poppy - no routine as such for Luke's naps. He just always seems to get tired after 2 hours of being actively awake and a bit longer if he's been quiet. His naps have gone a bit haywire now he is sleeping longer and not having a night feed. I need to wait until we have some kind of night pattern again I imagine as there isn't one right now!

Amberc · 13/10/2008 20:16

PS London lot - any meet up this week?

poppy34 · 13/10/2008 20:27

sorry on stroller thing - edie always been in maclaren - like ambercs it goes quite flat and she is

amberc - similar thing here wtih naps so suspect as usual I am over worrying. Can't do a meet up this week as dh away again and we're meant to be goign to france on friday night (but this may get delayed) -am hoping last few builders jobs will get done this week (have finally persuaded them that yes I do want the window glass on the bathroom to have a film on so you can't see in as whatever the builder says I am not happy displaying my bits to the world)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/10/2008 20:28

Amber sorry must have missed a post is Luke Sleeping longer at night, fantastic for you.

debinaustria · 14/10/2008 07:41

I'm back!!!!

Had a great but very tiring week, Stefan aged 8 slept for nearly 14 hours last night!!! It was fantastic being back in the UK, we had a reunion, we all slotted right back in with our friends as if we hadn't been away for 3 years, we viewed 3 houses, went to a castle, skiing at Xscape, Lightwater valley theme park, fish and chips, girls night out for me , Nigel went to London and met composer Simon May(Eastenders theme tune)in his house, went for a walk with friends,I went to a baby and toddler group with Ethan, boys went to their old school for an afternoon, I had a meeting with old colleagues about possibly returning to teaching, Nigel played tennis with a friend......
and all that was on film with us with radio microphones on. You can see why we're all knackered. Things took 3 times as long as normal and I'm only just getting used to walking into rooms just once! On camera we had to walk in with camera behind, then walk out again so camera could go in the room to see us come in, then maybe again for lighting!!!

Ethan was a star throughout but you don't see much of him on screen as the director wasn't so used to babies and breastfeeding!! He was left with Grandma, the researcher and estate agents! But halfway through the week he got his 1st cold and it's been awful, he lost his voice poor thing and sounded really croupy(?). So I would like to make an apology now, there will be some shots of us walking round Leyburn with the presenter, Ethan wasn't well , lots of his clothes were scattered between Grandma and the tv people's car so I just grabbed what I could to keep him warm - green trousers, lemon jacket and blue hat - lovely! He did really well on the plane but we had a nightmare journey there - car, plane, bit in car at airport for camera, bus into London because of works on the line, 2 tubes because of works on the tube line, supposedly straight through train to Northallerton but had to change at York, then taxi to b+b (1 room for the 5 of us - not great) then car to reunion where we were filmed - if I am looking tired on the programme that's why!!!!

I think that's enough from me, looking forward to hearing all your news , I've had no chance to read the posts yet, but hope you're all well.

debinaustria · 14/10/2008 07:43

oops forgot to tell you our decision - what do you think?

Yes, we're coming back... when we've sold our house though so not in the imminent future

ThePenguinProject · 14/10/2008 09:21

Great news Deb, welcome back - what will your new name be once you've moved....!?

I think of you every time I uses a MAM dummy Ryder has as it has "Made in Austria" on it.
