if bottle doesn't work

LadyBee · 05/10/2008 15:50

oh god. to get liquid in.

I did sleep last night. honest.

scorpio1 · 05/10/2008 15:52

you need coffee!!

SalLikesCoffee · 05/10/2008 15:59

lol Ladybee.

Knitter, he'll be fine, you'll see! And like Ladybee says, worst case situation your mom can feed him another way. I bet you if he was held in a quiet, dark room (in our case bathroom) being rocked in her arms, he'd take a bottle if he's hungry (this is what we do with R if he's too tired/difficult to start drinking). Once he starts he's fine continuing as normal.

KnitterInTheNW · 05/10/2008 16:10

Thankyou! I knew you voices of reason would make me feel better.

Denny185 · 05/10/2008 18:35

Knitter i have that dilema too, going on girly weekend in Nov, 3 days, and A still wont take any reasonable amount from a bottle/cup/spoon/syringe. I know she has done it so figure if shes hungry/thirsty enough she will do it. MIL coming to help dh and my mum is on standby, she did a trial run the other day and out of 3 feeds she manged 4 1/2 oz. Little rascal.

I have just ordered an Adiri bottle, will let u know if its any good (avent, MAW, playtex, nuk, breastflow all failed so far - the force is strong in this one )

Dh working this weekend so took the kids over to local craft centre for them to make his xmas pressie, keyring with their thumb prints in. Typically the product I want (silver clay - clay dissipates during firing process to leave solid silver) is out of stock so will have to return again. Still wasnt a complete waste of time, kids had a play and I managed to make 5 xmas pressies.

scorpio1 · 05/10/2008 18:48

Wow thats sounds lovely, something that my dh would like for xmas...

Denny185 · 05/10/2008 18:51

They do some great stuff, made glass cufflinks today. Means u can give some original one off pressies. Our one started off with just plate painting.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/10/2008 18:59

Denny, what a brilliant idea! Christmas sneaking up on me, I can't believe it's October already. Will see whether there's anyone nearby that does that, as I'm sure the grandparents would love it too. (Obv not R making it himself, just the thumb print )

Denny185 · 05/10/2008 19:10

Im trying to get xmas sorted b4 Dec starts, cant stand shopping at the best of times let alone when they r rammed. Ive brought the chocs and nibbbly bits, but have to stash them at mums otherwise Ill eat them now.

LadyBee · 05/10/2008 20:22

those silver clay things are done by smallp.co.uk, a friend told me about them, but I haven't been able to find a franchise close by. Denny was it a centre that has lots of crafty things to do there, or were you going to buy it yourself to do?

I've just noticed they're going to be at the baby fair this month taking prints. I was thinking of going so maybe I'll do that while I'm there.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/10/2008 20:42

I guess you could probably buy some type of kit and bake it yourself? Probably not the silver ones, but something similar? Off to search now.

Can't believe weekend over already.

I'll be going into central London tomorrow as we have the paed appointment at 10 - might see if we can do something nice while there.

Peachy · 05/10/2008 22:11

Hi all

just a quick pop in

Sebastian is having a few problems atm. he's added a banana intolerance to his list of foods (milk, tomato, banana, no gluten until 3) and has started screamig for 20 hours in every 24 . Seeing a GP and cranial osteopath as soon as we can arrange and hoping its all down to some food that we can't identify (gone right back to basics) but petrified we're abck on the ASD trail. He's tsill not taking abottle, and if I leave his sight screams horribly. Oly twice has he ever slept without being in my arms (bpth naps i the buggy).

He is 6 months today and when we should be celebrating his half birthday we ae instead a bit worried.

It's not anything new (apart from the separation anxiety which showed how extreme it was when I dared to try to have lunch with DH- my Mum who ahs babysat for 6 babies n probs lasted 5 minutes!) so am hoping its te extreme exhaustion of sharing every sleep with him and I am over worrying.

LadyBee · 05/10/2008 22:20

oh Peachy , I really hope that it is an intolerance thing. The screaming must be so difficult to cope with, what is he doing when he stops? eating or sleeping?

Is this what happened with your other boys?

Peachy · 05/10/2008 22:22

Sleeping mainly, is eating meals but dreamfeeding mainly or whilst screamig

DS3 regressed just beofre his 3rd birthday, just lost all speech one day. DS1 was a lot more like this but bas has much better eye contact so we're remaining hopeful- usually

scorpio1 · 05/10/2008 22:24

Peachy - Mimi won't take a bottle anymore either.

Does bas remind you of your other asd sons? Any other signs? I understand you must be very worried, and maybe upset now.

Can you see GP, CO tomorrow?

scorpio1 · 05/10/2008 22:25

Will he sleep on someone else, give you a night respite?

Maybe if it is intolerance its just so uncomfortable for him = screaming?

Peachy · 05/10/2008 22:29

Has to be me, will go to dh for a few minutes but thats it.

I know myself that food intolerances can cause extreme pain, so really am hoping its that. Have e-mailed the local CO which hopefully wil start that- DH has agreed to pay after I had a bit of a weepimng fir after cancelling my first proper night out with dh in 2 years because bas woudlnt go to anyone else. Which is very selfish I know.

Will see GP but bas is already on waiting list for Paed due to his previous weight issues, and Paed is pretty much a family friend now! She did comment on his eye contact last time we saw her, said it was good.

The thing about asd- and I knew I would be a mess abut this- is that it could take him any time in the next 2.5 years. With ds3 there were no signs at all.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/10/2008 22:31

Oh Peachy. Is it possible to see someone else than gp and chranial ostio earlier? Or do you have to rule things out bit by bit? This sounds strange saying, but I really hope this is "just" an intolerance.

scorpio1 · 05/10/2008 22:32

You will just have to attend these appointments and hope for the best, ride out the storm until the deadlines. You will be ok peachy, you can do this, you know you can.

SuzeM · 05/10/2008 22:35

Peachy, hope Bas will be ok. You must be so tired. Happy 1/2 birthday to him.

E hates her Tripp Trapp! Don't know why. She will just have to get used to it. I put her in for a few minutes every day. We got red and beech too, it looks nice (unused, in the corner).

Sal, the Ted Baker Brita dress is very pretty for the christening.

LadyBee · 05/10/2008 22:36

aarggh, I have to decide when I'm 'officially' going back to work and how many days holiday I'm going to take before I 'actually' go back to work and it's making my brain fry.
It's all too hard.

LadyBee · 05/10/2008 22:38

Sorry Peachy, that sounds stupidly insensitive compared to your troubles.

PortAndLemon · 05/10/2008 22:39

You can get the silver clay online here, for example.

Peachy, sorry to hear about Bas's issues.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/10/2008 22:47

Thanks Suze. I'm going to go with that now - will buy it in town tomorrow.

PAL, you're a mine of information - thanks for that! That's perfect, I didn't realise you could do that yourself.
