Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 15:29

OMa and all other Londoners / London-reachables: under NO circumstances are you allowed to meet up in November.
Actually, while I'm thinking about it, you should really all stop posting on here as well.
I really think you should rest your fingers a bit during all of November!

TheShipsCat · 03/10/2008 15:50

Well I can't as I will be in Malaysia On my own . In a posh hotel .

For work

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 16:01

Ooh nice - Malaysia, your own, posh hotel... Sounds great! (Even work sounds good - going through a weird stage of really missing it again!)

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 16:02

my thread

TheShipsCat · 03/10/2008 16:07

So sorry, Scorpio...

Mmm. Just been trying to work out how to fit a bathroom into what is quite evidently too small a space. So I was wondering what was behind the wall and if it could be moved. So I my neighbour sawed a hole into it, for a little look. And there's lots of stuff there. So now I have a big hole in the wall. DH is going to be thrilled with me...

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 16:34

Scorpio, I've got no advice or experience, but am so sorry to hear. Hope you find the info you need and thinking of you. xxx

TSC, that is brilliant, rofl. Am going to show your post to my dh tonight and threaten him to start diy'ing myself if he doesn't sort out my bathroom soon! I need more bathroom cabinets and doors so that I can lock cleaning materials away. All this in a bathroom the size of a matchbox. Surely not too much to ask?

MommyHasaHeadache · 03/10/2008 16:49

Well that walk in the sunshine had me wearing my winter jacket! It is bloddy freezing!!!

Okay I am confused! Is it 24 weeks or 26 weeks for starting to wean? And if it is 26 weeks, why does that 2 weeks make a difference?

Scorpio - sorry hun - have nothing to add but hope you get the help you need.

Sal - I am VERY ! I want to go there too! Now in fact! lol

Also Sal, re. bathroom cabinets, we got some really nice ones from Ikea - big and spacious (as we also have a tiny bathroom we really needed these for storage).

TSC - even if it is for work I am ! When do you go?

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 20:57

Well, it actually went well. phew

DH has gone to the pub, im sitting here with choc in complete peace!

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 21:21

Hmm, might try an Ikea trip this weekend again.

Good to hear it went well, Scorpio. Have read the new thread - annoying that they should have given you more info and didn't.

R still wakes up every now and again, gives a short cry, and as long as we go over and he sees we're still around, he fine again and goes back to sleep. I wonder if he feels a bit uncertain after all that's happened, poor thing.

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 21:21

Suze, if you're around - how are things?

SuzeM · 03/10/2008 23:35

Hi Sal, just typed a long message and lost it, grr. I was just on ebay selling all my maternity clothes!

Glad R is ok, have just been catching up. Anyway, DH still at work and has been told that Nomura will keep his team on ... however, there is no contract yet. I used to work at Nomura, and DH and his colleagues would never have considered working anywhere except in one of the top five, funny how things turn out. Anyway, I have been keeping an eye on the job websites for myself but there isn't anything much so hopefully Nomura will come through for us and I can be a SAHM until next spring. Will definitely be going back to work and am cool with that (if I find a job, ha ha) but I'd like to spend at least the first year at home, if possible.

Oma, I know how you feel, DH is working long hours at the moment so I do most everything for E. He is under a lot of stress but it is hard for me too (I think!).

Scorpio, have no idea what SALT is but you sound happier so that's good.

Hello again, Soph!

TSC, you sound like supermum to me ... raising kids, decorating, working.

I have started to wean Emilia, she is almost 24 weeks. I found the Gina Ford book on weaning useful. She's not everyone's cup of tea, I know.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/10/2008 11:38

Suze, that's great news. I've been following the Lehmans news and was hoping that your dh would have been fine. Fingers crossed for a quick contract, always helps to have it in writing (says control freak me). Re Nomura - yes, strange how things turn out sometimes.

I was going through my wardrobe the other day (desperately trying to find something decent that still fits) and considered getting pregnant for no other reason than to wear my maternity wear again, lol. Because I was working to the end, I justified my spending on mat wear with having to look professional, so it's all very nice, wrap style stuff that grew with me. I even considered wearing one of my dresses the other day, but then got paranoid that someone might know it's mat wear and ask me if I'm pregnant, lol. The self esteem not quite strong enough to deal with that!

R was up every single hour last night, except from 4 to 5 when he didn't even bother going down inbetween. He had sweetcorn at nursery and I suspect it gave him cramps. Both dh and myself look like death itself this morning. He's now sleeping and we're sitting here, repeating "breathe, breathe, breathe..."

SuzeM · 04/10/2008 12:12

Thanks Sal. Yes, until it is in writing, DH won't relax. Poor R, you must be wrecked. I went back to bed at 9.30 for a few hours and it was bliss.

I am sure you'd get away with wearing your wrap dresses.

I thought it was the middle of the night when DD woke this morning, but it was 6.45. It is so dark in the morning now.

Her little hands are freezing in the morning. I was thinking of putting cotton mittens on her but I think that might just annoy her. We were going to move her into her own room this weekend but her room is a tip!

SalLikesCoffee · 04/10/2008 13:06

I've been wondering about the freezing hands too. For all I know it doesn't actually bother him (and his neck feels nice and warm, so I don't think he feels cold), but I keep thinking I wouldn't like mine to feel that way!

I really hate heating (although I do turn the central heating on for about an hour lately late afternoon to warm the air a little for night), but I'm wondering whether I should leave it on for longer now that we've got a baby. I guess they can't feel the cosiness of sheepskin slippers, thick fluffy duvets and hot chocolate

Shocking how dark it is already, isn't it? It sneaked up on me a little this year (probably one of those weeks when his cold was bad and we stayed inside!)

LadyBee · 04/10/2008 14:18

We gave the house a bit of a heating blast this morning, it was chilly! I think we'll probably set it to go on a little in the early hours of the morning as well because it's freezing when I sit feeding him at 4 / 5, can feel the cold air falling down the wall where my chair is.
B's hands and feet are freezing too, have been seriously thinking about taking up knitting again (used to be able to do it) and attempting some booties because socks simply will not stay on!!
I need to find some fleecy sweatshirts or something for him, all our stuff is cotton, and there are only so many layers of t-shirts you can get on the lad before he starts protesting

B got over the formula stomach thing, but not without producing the most revolting nappy I've had to deal with so far...I've decided never to wean. If that is what formula does, I dread the prospect of real food.

scorpio1 · 04/10/2008 16:41

Sal - i only kept 2 pairs of jeans and 3 tops from alst time - the things i really loved. Will get some new stuff again next time, i tend to have a capsule wardrobe when pg - few pairs of jeans, varioous tops/cardis and a dress. Though this time may treat myself to some I.Oliver stuff

Tis horrid day here, really raining. I adore central heating!

SalLikesCoffee · 04/10/2008 17:20

My toes are freezing. I'm going to turn heating on now.

Scorpio, I love I Oliver stuff - it's brilliant and I never felt fat in it at all. My reasoning was that, as long as you bought it really, really early, you got so much use out of it that really it worked out quite cheap per wear! (Never got round to telling dh exactly how much it cost )

scorpio1 · 04/10/2008 17:21

oh i will need it early next time - 4th one and all that!

scorpio1 · 04/10/2008 17:22

was 7 weeks this time!

SalLikesCoffee · 04/10/2008 17:29

Scorpio, almost had a heart attack - read that as you're 7 weeks now! (Wishful thinking here, as I can't be pregnant just now I'm hoping it on someone else - such a beautiful time)

scorpio1 · 04/10/2008 17:31

oh i will prob tell you all before dh lol

Mimi had her first bit of food tonight! Banana & sweet pot - BLW. she swallowed about twice i do have a pic, will pop up in a bit

scorpio1 · 04/10/2008 17:38

its up!

SalLikesCoffee · 04/10/2008 17:58

That's such a cute pic, Scorpio!

MommyHasaHeadache · 04/10/2008 18:35

Ahh she is very sweet Scorpio - looks like she is really enjoying her grub too!

OMG - trekked to West Hampstead today - what a nightmare - tube stations and prams do not go! Never again!

My period is a bit late (just a few days...) really hope I am not pregnant but really hope I am pregnant - iykwim!
