OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyBee · 20/10/2008 14:53

hullo hullo - sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother VS, very sad and not helped by the feeling that FiL is milking the situation for dramatic effect. It's difficult to watch your partner suffering grief, it's one of those emotions that everyone feels a little differently I think. Hope your DH is able get through the shift ok.

Knitter I think I'd do what you are, tackle sleep first then dummy -- although you could argue that changing everything at once would just get it over and done with but I think I'd go for the softly softly approach. As I kept telling myself when I was panicking about sleep associations...how many adults do you know who can only go to sleep with a dummy/being rocked/in the middle of dinner? Go for a long term view and it seems a little less desperate.

Sal - R took Benedict's crossed toes then huh? We were up in the middle of the night again, but it's ok, although I think I chose the wrong breast to feed from as my left side was hugely engorged (again!) and v painful when we woke. Oops.

B went to GP this morning and (typically) looked perfectly chirpy and not at all wheezy. Hey ho. GP was very impressed with his cuteness and I was very impressed with GP's cuteness .

KnitterInTheNW · 20/10/2008 14:57

ooo, the PFJ just accepted me as a friend on fb, she said she'll come and say hi... watch this space!

KnitterInTheNW · 20/10/2008 15:07

hip hip....

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:07

Hi VS... were you worried... sorrysorrysorry...

me feel bad now

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:09

Lets just say we've been backand forth to hospital alot, moved house, had troubles with stupid phone lines and internets and trying to find job for other half...

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 20/10/2008 15:09

A bit. It was one of those things where no-one wanted to say they feared the worst I think, especially as Jack had been so poorly.
Sooooooooooooooooooooo pleased you're back and everything is ok.

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:10

but now other half is at work and house is tidy I can come and play more now

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:13

Awwwww hugs VS and to everyone. Jack has been very poorly but they finally found out whats wrong with him. One of the tubes from his right kidney to his bladder is severely dilated and causes his bladder to be unsterile. This means anything he comes in contact with bugs/illness wise makes him very ill. His right kidney is at 31% and his left is picking up the slack at 69%. His kidneys still work ok, but its only just. They want to operate on him to correct the disfunction and the head urologist chap in the county is on his case. Jack takes antibiotic everyday to keep his bladder sterile now.

Hope everyone's babies are all ok. Please update me!!

SalLikesCoffee · 20/10/2008 15:16

Hi ThePFJ. I don't think we've ever really chatted, but I've read some and so glad to hear they found out what made your poor ds so ill! Good luck with the op as well.

Ladybee, sorry re toe-highjacking. Could we take turns by any chance??? Great news re B. Your gp sounds lovely btw. Should I warn your dh?

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:17

Hi Sal, nice to meet you

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:21

Have just taken a pic of jack, give me a minute to put it on my profile.

SalLikesCoffee · 20/10/2008 15:21

You too You sound very much loved on here, I suspected they were ready to send a search party!

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:22

Awww... I have no idea why. Possibly they missed the mini eggs. Ahem.

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:29

There, click on my name at the top of this dialogue box and see the pic of Jack. Hope you likes. xxxx

LadyBee · 20/10/2008 15:36

wow! For a poorly baby Jack looks super robust
Hello - I'm like Sal, I think I arrived later, very pleased that they have managed to diagnose the source of the problems though, did it take a long time for them to work it out?
How do you give antibiotics to a baby

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 20/10/2008 15:37

He's a cutie PFJ.

SalLikesCoffee · 20/10/2008 15:40

Oh he is beautiful! Looking at the pic you can't imagine he is/was sick. Quite the fighter by the looks of it.

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:42

Hi Ladybee, nice to see you. Jack is actually HUGE, he has never missed a feed and the hospital are always astonished at how big he is considering. He is actually wearing clothes for a 12-18month old right now as I speak. I know. Crazy isnt it.
We have a syringe (no needle at the end) to measue out the dose and then I stick it in his mouth and slowly give him little bits to swallow. He's really used to it now. If I am late giving it to him he cries to let me know.

Another weird thing with Jack, he has only ever peed/pooed while a nappy change is occurring twice, and this was when he was very small. He seems to know not to 'go' until the new nappy is on. Is it me, or is that a magic baby??

But then, I spend half of everyday permenantly bemused and happy by this new bundle of joy in my life.

ThePFJ · 20/10/2008 15:57

ooooo.. the smileys are wearing hats now. o.O

MommyHasaHeadache · 20/10/2008 17:59

Welcome back The PFJ! (BTW it is Mum2BabyRoo here - I've name changed!) We have all been so worried about you and Jack. Such a relief to hear that you are both okay. Well Jack isn't but he is better than I feared. Poor little bugger - so I guess that explains all the problems you had when he was newborn. He looks really good though - a real little champ!

VS - sorry to hear about your granny in law. Have you had any more updates since you last posted?

Sal - that icecream idea is a fantastic one! One that I am in full support of! We must organise it when you get back. BTW - did you get the christening gown you were interested in?

Right - we are also having issues this side. Madame Gigi has decided she quite likes waking at 1:30am AND 6am for a feed. As you can imagine I am not in favour of this, especially as we are weaning now and she still gets a 10:30pm dream feed. Is this normal that she should be this hungry?
