OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:16

No, it´s not me. I´ll put one of my preggie piccies on shall I? I´ve got dark brown hair now though as disastrous appointment at hairdressers just after Sam was born - hey ho!!!!

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:20

Have just put preggie picture on

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:30

Need your advice - Sam´s got a dreadful head cold, he´s all hacking cough and snot nose! Is there anything we can do to relieve the symptoms for him?

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 14:31

thats more like it!!

do you have saline drops? easier for them to breathe & feed.

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 14:31

calpol

OMaLittle · 03/10/2008 14:35

Hello girls, hope things are better today Sal.

Thanks for doing that, Scorpio!

DD1 is a ROTTER today. Something about the end of the week and being tired and having to share me all day with DD2 just turns her into a monster. At least they're both asleep now - DD2 very out of sorts and pink cheeked, though, feels a bit hot but have put two blankets on as room 16 degrees so will have to keep going to check her. The house is a bombsite and I just don't have the energy to tidy up!

Thank god for the weekend. I think I have done 90% of weeknight bedtimes by myself this month (and prob last month too) - gets so wearing! DH got back at midnight this am, I was waiting up so went to bed at 11, when DD2 (obviously) woke up so fed her till 11.30, up and 2 and 4 just squawking (for 20 minutes at 4, though - think am getting RSI/tendonitis in my forearm from patting!) then 5.30 (! - which is great progress) for a feed, DD1 let herself out of her room and went and found DH in spare room at 6.50 then he just went back to sleep and left her to her own devices so I had to get up. I hope his work settles down soon - I shouldn't complain but I feel a bit foot-stampy and like this isn't what I signed up for!

TSC/Sagitta - I officially renounce all similarity. No WAY would I have the energy to do painting after putting kids to bed! I cunningly precluded myself from any further painting duty when DH and I moved into our first flat and I painted all round the room but only from shoulder- to waist-height. Great news about A, though.

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:37

Scorpio - of course it´s me ... what am I saying! I was trying to concentrate on too many things at the same time. See that´s what happens when work gets in the way

OMaLittle · 03/10/2008 14:38

x-posts, Soph - we just got a brilliant Calpol plug thing that does eucalyptus vapour, but if not put Karvol/Olbas oil on a muslin and tie it round the cot bar (not where he can reach to suck it!) or put it in a bowl on the radiator.

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:38

Hang on, which piccie are we talking about?

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:41

Thanks scorpio, OMa. LOL at radiator suggestion .... we don´t have any OMa. No need for them

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 14:41

you could put vix in hot water and under his cot iyswim

the blonde lady soph. i always thought you were dark in my mind!

scorpio1 · 03/10/2008 14:43

OMa - i totally know what you mean about what we signed up for, lol. Rotter is such a fab word! Hope you get some rest soon. forget the house, get dh to do it on the weekend.

My dh is away all day sunday, going to Cardiff for boxing. Thats cool though.

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 14:47

Yep, the blonde one is me. I was blonde for years but for some indescribable reason my hairdresser put jet black streaks through the top of my hair in April, making me look like Cruella de Ville so had to dye it all dark brown. Hundreds of years ago my hair was brown but I went grey at 21 so can´t remember really what shade of brown

Boxing - cool

OMa will try the olbas oil.

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 15:10

Soph,great pics!
Re cold: when R's was at it's worst and he struggled to breathe, I used Calcold for a day or two. It helped a lot with his breathing too. It does however contain paracetamol, which is why, even though it still says on the box 3+months, they've changed it to 2years now. (Same as Neurofen, so as long as you don't use anything else with, it it safe.)
Snufflebabe (like "baby Vicks Vaporub) was nice too, and he liked the chest massage bit.

Oma, if you think you're moaning now, I'd have been banned from this thread if I were in your (and some of you other girls') position. Hell, I'm struggling as it is with one sometimes, and that's with a dh who managed to decrease his hours (or at least work from home occasionally). Heaven knows where you get the energy to keep on smiling, never mind get up! Am in constant awe of you all.

(but you can't tell me to bugger off because you're my friends!!! )
When in South Africa, we're staying here for one night. . I love elephants, and am now using R as an excuse as to why it is really a good idea to go baby-elephant-feeding!

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 15:17

VS, great blog you've got there! (Am the one saying who started before 6 months ) I like the layout as well, looks very good.

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 15:18

Sal - you can go off a person quickly you know Am EXTREMELY of you. Can I come too? Would love to feed baby elephants
The unfortunate thing about living here Sal is that they won´t give you anything over the counter at the chemists for babies as the Spaniards are great ones for taking their babies to the doctors if they sneeze just once. I do have the olbas oil from England though. I assumed that would be alright just wanted to know if anyone else had done it iykwim.

TheShipsCat · 03/10/2008 15:19

OMa - I was about to say the same thing! Since seeing the pics of your dd1 painting in your kitchen, I decided to officially renounce any similarities! (apart from the fact we have the same kitchen bin ) But I would never let dd1 get paint out at home (that's why I pay a nursery ), and - despite all that paint, your floor and kitchen looked so incredibly shiny and tidy and clean. Our home is dirty and messy and horrible - TBH, dd1 might as well get the paint out. We probably wouldn't even notice.

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 15:19

Anyway, better tidy up and then home time - yippee! I like Friday´s because I don´t have to stay till 4.50pm - yay. Have brill weekends everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxx

OMaLittle · 03/10/2008 15:20

Sal!

[small too!]

Soph - assume you will be going back to that hairdresser, then . Good thing you ducked, too, was going to throw a book because it's really cold here. Will it still be warm in the Canaries in November (beginning)? [hopeful]

TheShipsCat · 03/10/2008 15:21

Sal

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 15:21

TheShipsCat - just quickly, I bet your kitchen ain´t as dirty as ours Will take some piccies then you can compare & I´m sure you won´t feel so bad after
Bye bye xxxxxxx

OMaLittle · 03/10/2008 15:22

TSC - I have to come clean about that, that was a Saturday morning lie-in and it was all DH! No way in hell would that happen with just me! I'm far too lazy to clean up and scared of landlordhouseproud.

Are you coming to London again soon? Are there any more plans for meet-ups?

Soph73 · 03/10/2008 15:22

OMa - yep, should be, starts to cool down but still in late teens early 20s temperature wise. Does get a bit rainy in Nov though. Look, I really am going now

SalLikesCoffee · 03/10/2008 15:26

Lol Soph. Yep, you can come with if I can come home with you for a bit! All this talking of sunshine is not funny when I thought today that I should probably go and dig out my gloves...

TheShipsCat · 03/10/2008 15:29

OMa - I have to admit, I'm quite relieved. Was starting to think you might be a supermum, which would, sadly, force me to end our freindship...

Not coming to london for a while, as can't be bothered to take two kids too much decoration/ building works....
