Poor DH lost...apparently other bloke has had nearly twice as many fights than dh has

Think DH is very cross.

SalLikesCoffee · 18/10/2008 22:54

Ah, sorry to hear!

Denny185 · 18/10/2008 22:56

Poor DH , still he got a night out

Why does dh ask u to feed? Is it through concern for mimi or disruption to his sleep? (if my dh it would be the latter, hehe)

Fingers crossed u and ladybee get a good nights sleep tonight.

Im off to bed now as I have just fallen asleep in the middle of yet another film

SalLikesCoffee · 18/10/2008 23:16

And me, Denny, wish me one too!!! . I (obviously) can't sleep so have taken to talking (even more) rubbish (than usual). Night, Denny!

luckymummy74 · 19/10/2008 10:19

Denny you could always move back to Herts

LadyBee · 19/10/2008 10:40

how odd...I wonder if DS heard me talking about the water trick...he slept through last night .
Ooohhhh, or maybe it was Denny's finger-crossing. Right, that's it Denny, let's strap your fingers into crossed position everynight from now on, ok??
Sorry to hear about DH's fight loss Scorpio - do they choose who they fight or is it just drawn randomly?

MadameOvary · 19/10/2008 12:10

Hi Everyone,
Bit of a rough day yesterday - poor DD out of sorts and had a projectile vomit - not surprising as she fed about 5 times in the night and wasnt winding properly.
I blame wind and too much rich food, so its back to simple purees today and last night when she woke I cuddled but didnt feed her more than twice - it worked, well so far anyway, Ellis seems happier today.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/10/2008 12:26

Wow MO, sounds like a rough day yesterday! Glad it's better now.

I'm cross with Denny. She didn't cross her fingers for me and R woke up as usual. It is therefore all your fault.

Have to go to B&Q to buy a replacement for broken tab handle (everything seems to be falling apart lately...) and dishwasher.

DonDons · 19/10/2008 14:44

we have a tooth my baby is growing up!

Hope you are all okay - sorry to hear of sickness in your house MO

Bad luck about the fight Scorpio - hope DH is not too achey today

SalLikesCoffee · 19/10/2008 14:45

DonDons

scorpio1 · 19/10/2008 16:35

Denny - through concern for Mimi, he doesn't mind being woke up, he just cannot bear the htought of her being hungry. Last night she did 7-7

KnitterInTheNW · 19/10/2008 18:12

Gluten free ladies -

I just found a diabetic mag from may that I hadn't opened, it has some GF recipes in. Nutty seed loaf, potato and thyme griddle scones, lavender fairy cakes, fruity mango flapjacks, passion cake squares.

If you'd like me to copy any of the recipes onto here for you I'd be happy to. I'm feeling hungry now I've just been looking at the pics!

SalLikesCoffee · 19/10/2008 18:22

Hey knitter! Would you mind sharing the lavender fairy cakes recipe, please? Sounds good!

Denny185 · 19/10/2008 18:31

So the 2 I crossed fingers for slept through last night OK, I will keep all fingers and toes (they are v long and almost finger like) crossed that all babies have long peaceful sleeps tonight (esp u Sal ).

Denny185 · 19/10/2008 18:32

In fact anything cake like knitter

SalLikesCoffee · 19/10/2008 18:33

Denny! Much appreciated. Hope you don't get cramps at 3am.

Denny185 · 19/10/2008 18:35

LM much as I miss some v dear friends (well one esp) from Herts I fear we are too lazy to enter back into that way of life now. I couldnt imagine trying to get 3 of them to the childminders by 7am to do that mindnumbing journey these days.

Denny185 · 19/10/2008 18:36

Dont worry Sal I have duck tape, hehehe

KnitterInTheNW · 19/10/2008 18:37

Lavender fairy cakes

1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon lavender flowers (the small, individual flower heads, removed from the stalk)
125g (4oz) caster sugar
100g (3.5oz) butter, softened
100g (3.5oz) rice flour
1 tablespoon chickpea/gram flour
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons ground almonds
1 teaspoon gluten free baking powder
1 teaspoon xanthan gum

For the decoration
125g (4oz) icing sugar
12 small lavender heads

Line a 12-hole bun tin with paper cases. Place the milk and the teaspoon of lavender in a ramekin, cover with cling film and microwave on full power for 10 seconds. Remove and leave for 10 minutes to allow the flavours to develop.

Place all the cake ingredients, including the lavender-infused milk in a food processor and whizz until smooth, or beat in a large bowl.

Spoon the mixture into the pper cases and place in a pre-heated oven, 180c, 350f, gas mark 4, for 12-15 minutes until golden and just firm to the touch. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Add a few drops of water to the icing sugar - just enough to give a stiff icing. Smooth a little over each bun and decorate with a lavender head.

Denny185 · 19/10/2008 18:43

Now I might give those a whirl this week knitter (maybe not a gluten free version though) will let u know how they go down.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/10/2008 18:48

Thanks very much!

KnitterInTheNW · 19/10/2008 18:49

Passion cake squares

175g (6oz) brown rice flour
375g (12oz) caster sugar
2 teaspoons gluten free baking powder
1 teaspoon xanthan gum
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
150ml (1/4 pint) rapeseed or corn oil
2 eggs, beaten
few drops vanilla extract
375g (12oz) carrots, grated
50g (2oz) desicated coconut
100g (3.5oz) canned crushed pineapple, drained
50g (20z) sultanas

For the topping
200g (7oz) cream cheese
2 tablespoons runny honey
75g (3oz) walnuts, chopped (optional)

Grease and flour a 20cm (8") square cake tin. Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, xanthan gum and cinnamon together into a large bowl. Add the oil, eggs and vanilla extract and beat well. Fold in the carrots, coconut, pineapple and sultanas, and spoon the mixture into the prepared tin.

Place in a preheated oven, 180c, 350f, gas mark 4, for about 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool in the tin.

Beat the cream cheese and honey together, and smooth over the cake. Then sprinkle the nuts, if using, on top. Cut into 16 squares.

KnitterInTheNW · 19/10/2008 18:50

yum... I don't even like pinapple and I really fancy that one! Fancy trying the lavender ones too. We have lavender in the yard too.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 19/10/2008 18:51
