Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Simpson - just wanted to say, my ds had exactly the same thing, there's a really nasty bug going around but after projectile vomiting a few times and then being under the weather for a couple of days he was mostly alright again....but it did take about 3 weeks for his tummy to get properly better. Me and dh both caught the bug from him and it really was grim - worst thing was that we'd get a couple of alright days, then it hit again....which is why we weren't really sympathetic enough with ds. But it will pass...and there's nothing else you could have done about it, you only feel bad cos you weren't too sympathetic

fillybuster · 13/11/2008 22:37

PS can someone put in a link to Amani's thread please? i'm rubbish at searching MN....

simpson · 13/11/2008 22:58

Filly - just hope DD doesn't catch it When I bathed her today she does look a bit thinner than usual. Ok not thinner maybe less fatter is better!! She hardly eats at all ATM and gags on lumps.

Sorry can't link but is under sleep - my 11mth old has never slept through the night.

Or otherwise look on LaT's profile as she has posted on it.

simpson · 13/11/2008 22:59

Forgot to say - Madmouse welcome back

JustKeepSwimming · 14/11/2008 09:38

Filly - hello!
work sounds v weird for you at the mo, is there a timescale for sorting it out?
Henry was doing that shuffling/moving eventually thing until yesterday morning, just seemed to 'click' that he could go forwards, lol.
My ds1 had similar stories at 5am this morning, first he was cold, then he'd 'done a poo' (he hadn't).

luckily dh here this morning, so sent him downstairs with ds1 at 5.30 with strict instructions for no cbeebies until 6.

ds2 was up at 3.30 for a feed, then 6.30 so quite good really.

(are we turning a corner....!?!)

of course have to restart ds1's sleep chart, thought we could leave it but 5.30 yest and 5 today is not good.

madmouse - welcome back, sounds like a good trip overall, hope nathan gets back into routine soon.

right dirty nappy calling and hopefully ds2 will wake from nap soon so we can go out to playgroup....

(he slept 3.5 hours yest afternoon!)

simpson · 14/11/2008 11:45

Just got back from baby clinic and DD has lost weight Not too worried as its probably because she has been ill but has gone from 17lbs 13ozs to 17lbs 6ozs.

The good news is that Ds seems fine and is going back to pre school today

Said to HV this morning that i was getting concerned as DD still not sitting up properly and she said she could refer her to physio but then DD sat for a whole minute Just think she is lazy like her mum!!

Think her learn and groove activity station doesn't help much as she flings herself around in it like a loon and thats what she does when you put her down to try and sit

Hope everyone had good nights....

Gingeme · 14/11/2008 13:31

Afternoon ladies.
A bit better night here. Ds5 woke at 2.30 for a bottle then slept till 7.18. Unfortunately ds3 woke at 6.48 for a pooh which luckily he can wipe his own bum, wash hands etc he just makes such a racket about it
Georges new thing is crawling under things. He crawled under our bed the other day, well as far under as he could get with all the crap thats under it. Under our coffee table but didn't quite crawl far enough and sat up and banged his head. No tears fortunately he sort of crawls under the pc chair which is on wheels and scares me that his fingers are going to get run over when ds3 is sitting on it.
He went to bed in a 12-18 month babygro last night and is currently wearing a 12-18 month vest and trousers now. Can't believe how big he is already.

fillybuster · 14/11/2008 14:55

Am at Gingeme's very precise timings!! That's how I am when I get woken in the night...I know exactly what time the clock says!!!

LaTrucha · 14/11/2008 15:46

Hey Filly (LaTrucha adopts hurt and offended pose) I SAID HELLO!

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 16:29

Right ok am gonna attempt a catchup ala MrsMc (prepare to distinctly unimpressed)

Lilly - Sorry I didnt send a msg to say good luck about your exam but I hope it went well for you and me and Aaliyah will keep our fingers crossed till your results come through.
I hope your BFing is getting better and some sleep comes your way soon.

La Trucha - Lol about DD "asking for food" That was something I panicked about with BFing. I don't listen to alot of what the HV's say as on Tuesday I was told that Aaliyah was being too babyish still drinking her milk from a bottle and she should be on cups by now and on lidless cups by 12m
You want the extra hours sleep? Try attaching some toys to her cot so that when she wakes up she can play quietly. We did it with DD and although she wakes me when she first wakes up we get at least another 30 mins to an hour with her playing quietly. She'll let you know when she's had enough. DD normally starts banging on the adjoining wall and yelling!! lol
If you want to give her a "nice" biscuit give her one. She's your daughter and there isn't anything overly harmful in them. I'm a true believer in the "would I eat it" way of thinking. DD has EVERYTHING we eat. Including steak the other night. (and she has no teeth)

Simpson - Can't believe you've finished your xmas shopping, I haven't even started my list yet! I don't know what a wheelybug is but i'm sure he needs one!!
Sorry to hear about DD's dairy intolerance, I'm starting to wonder if DD is alergic to something as she's getting very rashy on her face?
I hope DS's waking in the night has stopped for you. Sorry to hear he's ill again though.
Poo sample [yeuck] lol I hope they sort out her mystery illness
DD has ducks, whales and dalmation dogs in the bath with her along with her stacking cups. She seems to be entranced with dogs at the mo and we have og, og, og with everything including when I try to get her to say mum... She's also started a game with DP in that he says mum and she says dada, then he tickles her, so now when I say mum, she either grins at me and says dada (waiting for tickles) or she says og! I raise her I want to hear Mum!!!
Sorry to hear DD has lost weight but your right, the illness would have done it - that's why I like having a chubby baby cos if she's not feeling like eating it doesn't matter she's got weight to fall back on for a bit.

nicky - Hope nursery is ok and that works isn't too taxing for you to begin with. I'm sure if I went back to work I'd be knackered for at least a month trying to get back into a routine that doesn't include an afternoon nap!! lol Aaliyah hasn't got any teeth yet either they'll come when they're ready.

Gingeme - Well done on the weightloss, I lost some when DD was born but its all coming back now. Glad Ds3 is doing well in school.
DD does that computer chair thing - she gets right in there and then starts pulling at the papers/wires etc that are sat underneath them.
We do the precise timings. EG: DP had me up last night with his damn alarm going off at 3:08, then 3:18, then 3:28 til I whacked him with a pillow and demanded he either get outta bed or turn it off!!

JKS - Sorry to hear sleep is bad still and as for the cat with the mouse - If it were my cats I'd have shut them in the living room till the morning (mouseless of course) and hope that would explain to them that mum doesn't like being brought mice. lol
I'm gonna give you my honest opinion on CC now (take it or leave it) I think it can help, if your child is waking up claiming something is wrong but there isn't then they just want the attention and should be explained to them that nighttime is sleeptime, as a baby you can't explain so I think a couple of times of leaving them to "cry it out" doesn't hurt them. I don't like the idea of leaving them to cry for 1/2 hr at a time or anything like that but 10 mins here or there doesn't actually hurt the child and maybe they'll learn that nighttime is sleeptime and mummy isn't going to come running in when there is nothing wrong. We did it with DD and we only had to do it for 3 nights and she hasn't woken since except when something is wrong and now we know if she's crying something is wrong and we need to go look. (sorry for waffling)
As for having wants and needs. I got told off by another MNer (diff thread) for having wants and needs but I totally agree with you, if your not happy then your DC's are happy.

MrsMc - I can't remember if I said anything about your Dad so will say again just in case I think your dad should have someone explain to him that upsetting a pregnant woman is a no-go and whats stopping you from having your family life then go back to your career if you want to?

Filly - HELLO!!! 2 teeth? Woohoo, still no teeth here. Hope your job worries sort themselves out. There was a boy at my friend's DS' 1st Bday party who did the shuffling thing on his bum and that was his primary way of getting around so maybe DD will become a bum shuffler?

MM - Glad to hear the trip went well, DD is like that smiling at everyone, its lovely that she's good with strangers and its lovely that DS is like that too.

Well aaliyah is doing well, she won't stand alone unless you make her but she loves playing on her musical table thingie and we've found out that we are being to "nanny" with her. I always thought the walkers went too quick for her and she was gonna fall and bash her head. On Tuesday evening she went racing across the floor on it, turns out she just wants to go that fast!! lol

Am feeling mightily peed off with DP's family, we haven't heard from them in 4 months... I wouldn't mind but they're on the computer EVERYDAY, they only live 40 mins up the road and EVERYONE drives and his mum works 5 mins away!! I've sent them emails with updates but no replies. I just don't know what to do, I don't know them well enough to just say "hey, we've not seen you in ages" and DP is refusing to contact them as its always him that makes the first move and he wants to see how long it'll take them.
Xmas is coming soon, what are we meant to do?

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 16:29

Oh dear god that's huge!! sorry

AngeChica · 14/11/2008 16:43

Am I the doziest mum in the world! I just popped to Netto on the way back from soft play and managed to lock myself out of my car - with Alek in the car, along with purse, phone coat, etc. The manager of Netto called the police who got hold of DH who had to race back home from Newcastle for the spare key. Luckily Alek decided to have a nap in the car and only started kicking off a few mins before DH got there! So I was shivering in the car park for nearly an hour, the nice people at Netto sent people out to wait with me and made me a cuppa though!

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 16:45

Oh Ange - That's horrible. How did you manage to lock yourself out of the car though? Unless you locked the doors then opened boot, put keys in boot and shut boot (which I did once but luckily keys were in the way of the boot closing properly) Good ol' Netto for looking after you though.

simpson · 14/11/2008 16:45

Lucky - am very impressed with catch-up!!

DD's appetite seems to be coming back slowly and she has eaten a bit more today and even managed some finger foods which has been making her gag and then vomit

Good news is she seems to be on the move!!She can't go forwards yet but goes round like a clock face and rolls. She has been doing this for a while but today has realised for the first time its a way of exploring (found her behind tv) and moving to get a toy/object she wants

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 16:47

My friends DS does this as he needs physio to relax the muscles behind his knees and so can't sit/crawl. This is how he gets everywhere, I thought he'd be safe on the floor while I ran to the loo (whilst watching him while she ran to the shop) came back and he was outside the tiolet door!! lol

LaTrucha · 14/11/2008 16:48

Oh dear Ange. I'm just waiting to get locked out. I don't have a mobile and I knwo anyone I ask for help is just going to think I'm a fool.

Great catch up Lucky.

Can't do one as we're back on teething big style here. Just wanted to tell you DD's antics last night. She couldn't sleep because of teething so I took her into bed. I didn't want to bf her as we've successfully stopped that so I was calming her by stroking her neck - which she loves. We were lying like that for a while, until she obviously worked out which bit of me she could suck, turned, put her hands either side of my face, put my nose in her mouth and was sparko in seconds. CUUUUUUTE. But cue LaTrucha lying in the dark thinking 'Can I take i t out now?' for about 20 minutes!

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 16:50

LMAO La Trucha!! SOO cute!!!

Lilyloo · 14/11/2008 16:58

Great catch up Lucky

Ange poor you thank goodness he slept through that! I did that once but called the aa and they broke into it for me with a coat hanger!

Simpson sounds like she is getting a little better!

Hey everyone else!

Dd still had 2 feeds last night but second one was 4 so a bit later!
Better go check on my cottage pie

Lilyloo · 14/11/2008 16:59

LOL Lat

and Filly having a diva strop

MM glad you had good time!

simpson · 14/11/2008 17:27

Angechica - how awful for you good that Alek slept through it though. Good on Netto

LaT - LOL!!

AngeChica · 14/11/2008 18:08

that's cute LaTrucha.

What I had done was throw keys on front seat while packing baby and shopping in back then as soon as I shut the door I realised that the central locking had popped down without me noticing!

Still DH being called away from work by the police, he'll not let me live it down for a while.

simpson · 14/11/2008 18:49

Angechica - I have nightmares about locking myself out of the house all the time and have actually done it once with both Dcs. DD wanting bottle and Ds needing wee Luckily my brother worked round the corner and he has a spare key.

Have just ordered wheely bug Got it for £45 which is the cheapest I have seen....

Got Ds the lady bird one.

LaTrucha · 14/11/2008 19:44
Grin
JustKeepSwimming · 14/11/2008 20:54

Just popping in to say good evening

am tired and drinking wine while trying to follow a silent witness....

will hopefully get some dc-free time tomorrow and catch up as well as get some stuff done!

madmouse · 14/11/2008 21:21

right

have waved off dh who is away all weekend

have baked a tray of brownies and a tray of dutch spicy biscuits for community centre christmas fayre

have washed two loads and done shopping

hung one load

dishwasher is running

baby has been asleep since 7.45

bags not all unpacked but all dirty stuff sorted out

having a well deserved cuppa

feeling very proud of my little man who can now sit on hands and knees for about a minute (as long as we put him in it),without support and who rocks backwards and forwards in that position. he has been working with physio on learning to lift one arm up so he can crawl.

he has tiny soft armsplints now to help with physio and he has sat with them on for five mins today to get used to it. not impressed that he cannot bend his arms like that. I got to choose fabric and they have little stars and planets on

I don't think i am making much sense, when the cuppa is finished I am off to bed

sorry for no personals, still feeling out of the loop, but have posted on amani's thread.
