MM - BRILLIANT ABOUT NATHAN I AM SO PLEASED FOR HIM.

MrsMcJnr · 14/11/2008 22:12

Hey ladies We need a new thread; this one is taking ages to load!!! A neighbour actually asked me today if I was pregnant, I?m quite shocked that I look it at 11 weeks! last time I hid it until 16 weeks! I spent ages last night on the internet researching the nuchal fold scan?s combined result with the blood test to try and decide whether or not to fork out an extra 200 euros for the blood tests on top of the 160 euros on the scan. I came to the conclusion that if the scan looks ok then 75% accuracy as opposed to 85% is good enough for me. I also noted that the ideal time for the blood test is 10 weeks and I?ll be exactly 12 weeks on scan day? think I?ll have to call it on the day! anyone want to throw anything else into my thinking pot on that? sorry, this subject is so last year!!

Felt like a terrible mother tonight, DS fell asleep in the car after an afternoon at my Mum?s and wouldn?t wake so until 5 mins ago he was asleep in his cot fully clothed without any milk, I felt so mean but luckily he stirred and I got him changed and got ¾ of a bottle down him

Simpson ? how cute your DD sounds and it must be lovely to see the relationship between DD and DS aren?t your kiddies funny with their animals is DS ok?

Madmouse ? welcome back we?ve missed you! Glad all went well but hope you now get more sleep!! You are wonder woman aren?t you? you?ve done more since you?ve got back then I can do in a day My Mum had DS for an hour and a half today and it flew by and I never did get the rest I was meant to have

Filly ? that sounds like the bug that was going round where I lived when I was pg with DS, not nice.

JKS ? 5am uggghhh!

Gingeme ? you must be an excellent babyproofer!

Great post Lucky DS still likes a bottle although he does drink water and juice from a lidded cup on his own, I think he just associates milk with bottles and doesn?t drink enough if I give it to him in a cup. That rash could be related to teething. I?m very impressed with Aaliyah?s speech skills! We?ve been getting a lot of ?ey-o?s (hellos) recently. Thanks for your support on the Dad front. How odd about DP?s family, has he ever been close to them?

Angechica ? poor you hon, that must have been so stressful!!

LaT ? LOL how funny!

Hello Lily glad you had a better night, me too only up once

LuckySalem · 14/11/2008 22:19

Hey MrsMc You can have my support as much as you need hun and yes I do agree that we need a new thread.
We didn't have the blood tests as we decided that the accuracy wasn't accurate enough for us and that it wouldn't make that much difference either.
As for the sleeping thing - DD does that all the time!!
Thanks about the rash, I wasn't sure as its all over her cheeks and the area on the top of the nose between the eyes.
As for his parents they've never been close - he left when he was 16 cos he was sick of seeing his dad beat his mum and his mum do nothing about it. He stuck up for her one day and ended up with a broken nose and 2 black eyes (that was the day he left) she then proceeded to tell him off for it.

Oh today in the bath we had uk (when she was pointing to ducks) and dada (when she pointed to the dog) teehee

simpson · 14/11/2008 22:37

Mrs Mcjnr - I had the nuchal fold and blood test with DD (got it free) and was told it could be done between 11-13wks. Our scan (which we had first) was pretty conclusive that things were ok though.

Lucky - Grrr on your Dp's behalf. I have the opposite here Dh's famlt won't stop asking about Ds but DD is totally ignored (guess she is only a girl )

Its is sweet when they start talking When DD gets upset or v tired she is mamamamama

Yay Nathan on sitting up. he has beaten DD Although she managed a minute today. if no better in a couple of wks then will be referred for physio.

Talking of cups, bought one today for DD's milk. She is not taking enough milk in day (about 10 ozs) so going to try cup as she loves holding her tommy tippee cup with water in and doing it herself.

simpson · 14/11/2008 23:10

Lucky - great post on Amani's thread.

Gingeme · 15/11/2008 11:27

Morning ladies how was your nights?
Same as usual here wake at 1.30 for a bottle then sleep till 7-7.18. Hes doing his nights all round a different way now. Bottle early am then long sleep rather than long sleep then bottle early am iyswim?
I stayed up till 12 watching Children In Nedd whic was fun but regretting it this morning. Feel shattered
Luckily not doing much today.
Re baby proofing. Well I like to think we are a pretty safe household like plug covers and baby gate by the kitchan door I just hate all the wires everywhere all the time.We have trunked alot of them in as much as we can but ti still scares the life out of me when George starts chewing on them.
Wel I hope your all having good days whatever your up to xx

JustKeepSwimming · 15/11/2008 11:35

Pretty good last night actually

ds2 woke at 10 (just after Dh and i had, ahem, finished ), into bed at 10.22 (if we're going precise!), woke at 5.22 = 7 HOURS
fed him again, put him back in the sot and he talked to himself until ds1 woke at 5.53 - counting it as 6 and a smiley face for chart purposes.
dh took them both downstairs at i got up at 7.30

actually feel vaguely human this morning!

got lots of ironing i should be doing, back later...

AngeChica · 15/11/2008 11:49

There's a pattern emerging on a Friday night - DS always sleeps really well after he's been to soft play! Last night he went from 7.30 through to 6.50 . However every time this happens I always seem to wake about 5 needing the loo and then not being able to get back to sleep. I'm coming to the conclusion I've been too complacent about my pelvic floor TBH (sorry if TMI) ... because I never laboured I thought I had got away with it . DH has taken DS to the market while I've hoovered and cleaned the floors.

Love to hear Nathan's progress madmouse. hello to everone else, hope you have nice weekends.

simpson · 15/11/2008 13:38

Hi all

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Ds keeps going on about how we have no chimney for santa to get down so I googled it and was amazed to find novelty keys for santa to "open" your front door. I bought one on ebay and had to walk to post office to pay. It would have taken me 20 mins but with DS walking it tok aaaages.... But at least he has come back knackered

DD managed to eat a yogurt this morning with no ill effects yet but the lactulose does not seem to be working so may have to up the dose, yikes!!!

Still got to brave it and do poo sample might wait till DH is off work tomorrow....

LuckySalem · 15/11/2008 14:55

Ange if he's sleeping better after soft play maybe he's just not tired enough to sleep all night?

madmouse · 15/11/2008 20:50

hi all

night was still not great here, but I feel better because I decided I was certainly not granting access to my boobs for feed or comfort more than once every three hours, it did mean settling him twice in btween though . ended up feeding at 11, 2.15 and 5.45, with waking also at 1 and 4. then awake at seven when i had expected him to sleep til 8, but his nappy had leaked (well was full basically ) so valid complaint. typically he then lay on my tummy in bed (dh away) practising pushing up on all fours by himself using my crotch as a useful starting point ()to fall asleep exhausted when I had to get up

here is hoping that he will slowly return to normality.

mrsmc have you been able to decide whether or not to have the blood tests? for me it is all very simple: won't have a termination in any event so don't bother with any tests unless they lead to something that can be fixed (ie hiv transmission to baby can be prevented) but i realise it is not that simple for everybody.

lucky just saw your thread, sleep is such a big thing isn't it. my only trick with Nathan if he wants to play at inappropriate times is to hold him in the dark, refuse eye contact and just wait. it is rare thouh, he likes sleep, just not all at once .

I wonder what makes her scream seeing that she sleeps so well afterwards. do you have any theories?

a new thread again? how about 'anyone for seconds?' especially for mrsmc (although there will be more soon I am sure )

by the way does anyone know how barristermum is doing?

OP posts:
madmouse · 15/11/2008 20:55

LaT forgot to tell you I was in stitches reading about sabela sucking your nose to fall asleep. Nathan likes to try that one too, but only as a joke, he seems to think it is hilarious

also intrigued by her putting that book over her head to go to sleep, can you film it?

sorry that teething is so hard for her. Nathan calmy seems to be en route to tooth three, just masses of drool and a growing lump in his bottom jaw.

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/11/2008 20:57

MM - I have no idea. I think she just wants to keep playing but she only cries for about 2 mins and then falls asleep so I don't know.

madmouse · 15/11/2008 21:09

Nathan often has a bit of energy left, which he expels by lying on my lap bending and stretching his legs over and over again while having a giggle. he will then take a bit more milk and off he is.

how dark is the room when you try to make her go to sleep?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/11/2008 21:10

Completely dark except for the downstairs hall light so barely any light at all, just enough to see to carry her to her room.

JustKeepSwimming · 16/11/2008 05:17

ARGH ARGH ARGH etc.etc....

of course i couldn't have 2 good nights in a row could i?!

9 - light off
11 - dh woke me coming in (not peed ff with him, just a fact)
1 - cat woke me (am VVVV peed off with him!)
3.30 - H woke, fed him, he muttered until 4.30
4.30 - H crying, gave him some teetha which he coughed/sicked up after, cue me crying, him laughing, stormed back into our bedroom, 'i've had enough!'
Poor DH! woke up to find me a ranting, crying, mess.
made him take H downstairs, too late, T awake.
only just 5am
H still crying, T being put back to bed again, will really have to go up in a min.

Haven't had more than 2 hours sleep in a block.....

hope everyone else had a better night - can't have been much worse....

madmouse · 16/11/2008 10:10

oh jks I sympathise. I too sometimes storm into the bedroom crying and shouting I have had enough

My night was a bit more settled. Nathan went to sleep at 8, then fed 12.30 (very pleased), 3.30 (not bad) and 7 (not bad either). had to resettle him at 10.30 and 5.15. took him into my bed at 7 and after half an hour fell asleep again until 9.

so I have had a decent number of hours, now to get them in one stretch, that would be heaven

keep checking amani's thread, but I think she has been scared off now

worried about my friend, she had an amnio two weeks ago as she came back 1:75 for downs. all was well, but at her 20 week scan it seems her baby has not grown for the last two weeks and the baby's femur is so short it is off the scale. they want her to have a growth scan in four weeks. funny that the short femur is a soft marker for downs. hope it is just a fluke. she is worried because the baby is measuring small, as she usually makes em big

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 16/11/2008 11:20

Thanks madmouse
sorry for such a negative post!
And i meant to come on last night full of news about Henry!

Since Thurs he has:
crawled properly (skipped the commando stage)
pulled up to standing (on sofa & daddy)
started cruising
walked with a trolley
and stood on his own for a few seconds

(still not rolling )

I remember from Tom, that they do this, have a few weeks when nothing in particular seems to happen, then a sudden rush of new skills. have to watch him so closely now as he's bound to fall over lots if he's anything like his brother!

Madmouse - hope your friend (& baby) are ok. such a worrying time.
I went with your philosphy re tests, i wasn't going to have a termination so only had tests to make sure I was staying healthy, iron levels, etc.
the nurse at the hosp thought i was mad refusing the tests but hey

re cats - i've always been so soft on them and allowed them upstairs at night as i do love them sleeping on the bed al curled up, etc.
but recently dh had had enough and we started shutting them in the kitchen (has a catflap so they can go out if they want). was going really really well, no howling (from me or them, lol!) until i broke the door handle - came off in me 'and 'onest

so job for today is either fix it myself, or discover that i can't in which case phone handyman to book him for next weekend for various jobs.

so, off to investigate!

Lilyloo · 16/11/2008 11:33

hey all Simpson love the 'magic key' !
JKS , MM poor you i still no further with improving dd sleep. She wakes regularly 10/11/3 and up at 6.30 with usually a crying period of an hour somewhere am shattered too
It's a nightmare isn't it ?
Lucky not seen your post r/e sleep ?
Ange sounds like eh needs to be on the go then ?
MrsM we didn't have any tests with any of ours as i didn't want to know and to us it wouldn't have changed thiungs anyway!
Well stuck in today as dp gone on a football thing and taken the car with Martha's car seat

simpson · 16/11/2008 11:56

Hi all

Sorry to hear of the bad nights DD not great last night and wanted a feed at midnight and 3am, but TBH she has lost weight recently so anytime she wants milk over the next week or so \I will give in and feed her.

Have had losts of screaming this morning so think another trip to docs is in order for DD as something is obviously bothering her

JKS - very impressed that H can do all those things Definately think you are right about them learning to do lots in one go.Sorry you had a pants night.

Madmouse - Hope your friends news is ok. Poor her, 4 weeks is a long time to be worrying

Lilyloo - Having a lazy day today here too. Must get receipe for reindeer food off you soon

LaTrucha · 16/11/2008 16:47

HI all,

I agree with MM that the most important thing to decide about tests is whether you would have a termination or not. If not, then what's the point? Sorry about your friend MM.

A bad night is so much worse when you've had a good one, isn't it? We had a bad one yesterday and a good one today.

I've definitely done the storming / crying I can't cope anymore scene. The poor sleepers surely do push you.

Went to a soft play party today for the little girl of some friends who are moving to Canada. Sabela was beside herself with happiness. She loves the soft play but there were sOOOOO many people there she was in seventh heaven. I took some helium balloons, which went down really well. ALl the kiddies wanted a go!

Simspon - sorry about DD

JKS - woah! That was some week for H!

Sorry everyone else - DD is squawking. Must go!

Lilyloo · 16/11/2008 17:34

Well dd can now climb out of her bath seat and her new one tonight out of the highchair Simpson can you get reins for these highchairs ?

simpson · 16/11/2008 17:49

Lilyloo - Don't know if you can get reins (don't think so ) and can't see anywhere on the back that you can attach reins to except the fabric strap on the seat iyswim.

Lilyloo · 16/11/2008 17:59

looks like a new chair then or a straight jacket
she is a little houdini can open the cupboards which have lock on
trouble with bath she climbs out of seat but then slips over

Lilyloo · 16/11/2008 18:00

I can't see how she does it they are really snug when sat in it i have trouble getting her in it but she was on top of the table when i was serving up tea tonight!
