I haven't read or heard if the gruffalo. Am bad mother not reading enough to e.

lizz - it was me who had trifle on sunday and monday, v nice too. Made brownies today that are also v nice and e enjoyed earlier - she shouted more more more when she had finished.

E was a whinging nightmare from picking her up tonight to bedtime. We were glad to see the back of her. S has had 2 bottles today which I am very pleased about, am switching her much quicker than I did for e, and giving her room temp bottles from the start to reduce faffing about.

To those who asked, the other job I have applied is for the one I was doing on secondment earlier this year which was quality checking the advice given by advsiors within consumer direct. My 'own' job is as a teamleader in one of tbe consumer direct call centres. Its like nhs direct but for consumer issues. Not sure the new job will be right for me at the mo - more travelling etc

Who knows anything about rapid return? EAH? 2Happy?

Who'd like to talk to me about it? Preferably in nice, easy terms so my sleep-deprived and pregnant brain can understand.

If I do it will I lose my lentil-weaver status?

eandh · 09/10/2008 07:52

I do rapid return - am just sorting out school stuff but will be back later

2Happy · 09/10/2008 19:24

Done it for both boys, not that it ever worked for ds2 . How can I help?

Hola - am I the last one to put LO in a bed?? SHould I be doing it now?

It is blowing an absolute gale here so had crap night's sleep.

PCF - how are you? Anymore bleeding?

Vino - great news about S and her FF. I know what you mean about E being a nightmare, J often is when he comes back from nursery and I count down the hours until he goes back to bed

LTH - your poor poor friend. Isn't life just sh*t sometimes

2Happy - have you heard from Loosh recently? She's gone AWOL!

Lizz/Reggiee - howdy

Who else have I missed??!?!?!

vinorouge · 10/10/2008 10:02

Morning

Dh has the day off unexpectedly so he has gone off to b&q and is going to do some man jobs about the house today. i need to go food shopping. E is at nursery so just S here and she is sleeping at the mo so I need to go and get dressed (got undressed and back into bed afte taking E to nursery).

Trying to tidy up the house today.

Stressed at the mo cos E can undo the harness of the p&t buggy so she slips out and off the buggy all the time, esp when she is in a paddy. Even using an additonal harness she hangs off the front so I have complained. Fed up and feeling as though I always make the wrong decision about what to buy. The initial response from the shop was 'say no to your child'. WTF. Am considering buying a different buggy cos at the mo I just can't face taking them both out in it.

UD - what on earth is rapid return

vinorouge · 10/10/2008 10:03

wilkie - lots of my freinds still have their los in cots

Katw3kitts · 10/10/2008 10:29

Rapid return ?? Nope dont think I know what that is so I probably dont do it !

I'm guessing its to do with sleeping ? and if so I definitely dont. DS sleeps really well these days (in his cot still). In fact ever since I stopped feeding him he's just got the hang of sleeping through. Cherub

Sorry to hear about your friend LTH. Hugs anyway.

We've had a shite weekend here literally. A blocked drain meant we had to call Dynarod out. Yuk.. Yuk... Yuk. I tell you those guys deserve all their money. I could never in a million years do a job like that.

They said it was nappy liners, but I'm not convinced. Our house is 5 years old so the drains should be in good condition. There was also a ton of gravel and a few sods of earth in there which probably got in when we opened the drains a few weeks ago with the flooding. Hey ho... £150 down the drain, so to speak. Roll on potty training thats what I think !!

Reggiee, you sound more northern than me with all your 'proper warm' talk. The girls up here dont wear coats. We are hard

Talking of Christmas I just got a great bargain off ebay which I've put away. I got an electric scooter thing for pennies, which should bve great for playing out as the front is all paved (assuming the drains are working of course )

Oh, and still on that theme, I'm really easy to buy for, I'm just so grateful for anything. I dont do earings or rings but any other jewellery is great. Pens ? and despite what my name suggests I dont really like cats !

Right, itng almost over, time to get of the laptop me thinks ....

Morning -

UD - pcf explained rapid return well, first time of getting up we say time for bed E or H and put her back, 2nd time just 'bed time' and any trips after that in silence, it is literally just keep puttinhg them back no talking, no compromising same old boring thing (ideally the person who starts it should continue it) we have spent over an hour doing it for Ellie before but if we have to do it now only have to do returns about 5 times and she stays there (although tbh it took about 5 really crappy nights to crack)

Wilkie - I know people with 3 year olds still in cots, we only changed H cot to a bed because Ellie would climb into it or H tried to tip out of it

Kat - uuurghh I couldnt do their jobs I bet you learn not to breathe in. Ebay purchase sounds liek a bargain!

Vino - No advice as never had P&T but for the money they cost I'd expect teh harness to be a bit mroe robust, hope you get somewhere with it and hope food shopping is quick and easy

Ummm can't remember whose posted what now - its dh birthday so me and girls made a cake yesterday and iced it this morning and we popped to town to get a rug for the lounge as wooden floor to cold to sit on (now need to get something to keep the rug from moving as H fallen over it 3 times already!)

laughalot · 10/10/2008 13:11

Afternoon

Wilkie l has just gone into a bed and on a night when we put her down she often jumps down and cant get back up again. I have been in around half a hour later and she has pulled her pillow on the floor and is laying there asleep . We only moved her because she was starting to get stuck in the bars.

Kat yuk yuk yuk with the drains I wouldnt like to be there wife when they get home from work smelling of crap . Are you trying to tell us you dont want a cheap plastic cat orniment for christmas ?

Vino that if bad with regards to the pushchair but it has made me feel better knowing that e hates it as much as l does.

Eah you sorted e bed yet ?

Pcf glad the bleeding has stopped it is such a worry saying that I bleed with both of mine.

Not much happening here a had to go dressed to school today as a book character so he was the lightning mcqueen driver he looked very cool. Going out with dh for a meal tonight nom nom

eandh · 10/10/2008 13:32

God I cannot make a decision about this bed arrrfhhhh!!!!

Lizzzombie · 10/10/2008 13:57

eah - what bed are you talking about? Your bed?
wilkie - DJ is NO WAY NEAR ready to go into a bed. He would be out of it double quick and climbing up the bookcase or balancing on top of the chair or god knows what. I am thinking of just keeping him in the cot bed with the sides up until he is about 5 years old!
pcf - I've lost my "room on the broom" its really annoying. DJ got it for xmas last year, I read it once and it disappeared. The gremlins have hidden it somewhere in my ginormous huge two up two down terraced house! Max sounds so cute. And lucky you - 7 till 7.
Vino - Bum about the P&T. The 3 mates I have who have them love theirs to pieces, in fact we were talking about them this morning as another mate is about to buy one. I've not heard of that problem before though. Can you tuck a blanket/scarf round the harness catch so she can't get to it to undo it?
KwK - Drain issues - poor you. I think our road ones need doing, the top of our street stinks of poo - glad I don't live at that end, but I am concerned that one day something bad will happen. My parents live in a new build and last year my Dad was in the shower and my Mum flushed, and what she flushed came up into the shower cubicle. GROSSSSS!
LTH - Hope this weekend goes ok for you x

We've just got back from a local farm (Middle Farm if anyone is interested) it was sooooo hot. I totally wore the wrong clothes and its boiling outside here too now. Think I may have a cuppa in the garden! Laters xxx

Lizzzombie · 10/10/2008 13:59

ps.
KwK - good ebaying. I can never find bargains on there anymore.
2Happy -

2Happy · 10/10/2008 14:22

Rot you, Lizz, it's been pouring with rain all day here!!

Wilkie - ds2 is still in a cot. Mostly because we can't get the fecker darling out of our room and there's only room for a cot (and even then I can't get the flipping chest of drawers open ). If there was room for a bed I might put him in one just so that he could have a duvet because he gets out of his sleeping bags all the time (then wails at 3am because he's cold). Spoke to Loosh this week, actually. Her dh was pretty poorly with his tummy and just had an enormous operation. Hopefully it will make him feel like a new man, but it's all been really stressful, and he'll have to have another operation in the future. And he works for HBOS, so another one affected by the financial meltdown. As, sadly, is my dh. He made partner in Sugust, but has to buy in to the tune of £125,000 [ouch]. He had originally secured a loan from RBS, but they fannied around not getting the paperwork to him to sign, and now they've gone back on it and said in the current climate that they need to raise the interest rate (from already pretty high, to extortionate). He's looking around, but funnily enough, banks aren't falling over themselves to hand out loans to people.

PCF - glad the bleeding has stopped, hope the sickness stops soon too.

LTH - thinking of your friend today, hope the op is ok.

kw3 - eurgh. Definitely not a job I'd like to do!

UD - like everyone has said. We RR'd ds1 - said "it's nighttime, it's time to go to sleep", not angry, just calm, didn't say anything else. It didn't work well with him, just seemed to stir him up every time we went in. With ds2 we did more of a gradual withdrawal, inching inexorably backwards out of the room, which seemed to work with him (though he's in a cot; the reason we were doing RR with ds1 was because we kept having to put him back in the flipping bed!).

PCF about the warning letter. It reminds me of my county court summons for not paying Poll Tax (back in those days) but I was a student so exempt - a small matter they'd 'overlooked'.

2H big ouch about the credit crunch. That's so harsh.
Loosh if you're lurking, hope everything is ok, and DH recovers well.

Lizz room on the broom is one of my favourites. You'll have to visit Shimmer's new shop when on opening day and purchase a new copy. I always find our lost books down the side of the cot against the wall. Nice weather here at lunchtime, but clouded over this afternoon - bit windy now.

Wilkie talking of cots, lo still happy in hers atm. We've just decorated our big spare room and will shortly buy a bed and furniture for it, with the plan to attempt to move her to a bed around New Year time. What've you been up to btw?

Lal have a lovely evening. Is it a special occasion or just an escape from the kids?

Eah hope dh has a nice birthday. Has he been behaving himself recently? Did the girls ice the cake?? How 'broken' is H's bed? It's not too long to wait until Xmas providing her bed is safe.

Hiya Kat. We have to get our drains cleaned every year cos of where it lies. Last time was gross - it seemed to be clogged with grease type stuff - like lard . Bizarrely though we were covered under our British Gas boiler agreement for free drain cleaning until last year. You don't have anything like that do you?

Vino hope you and dh had a lovely day. Have emailed you.

LTH hope today wasn't too traumatic for your friend.

eandh · 10/10/2008 19:49

Evening, just back from IL's (had a chinese there) girls crashed on way home so all quiet here, DH had a nice day bit it appears IL's have forgotton as no present/card (but to be fair Nan is back in hospital and very poorly.) We go there at 4pm and they were at hospital visting Nan, last night FIL had been moaning about a flat pack drop leaf table he had tried to put together but couldnt and I did the whole thing in half an hour so he was well chuffed (instructions were stupid and unclear but not sure how he had not been able to do it ) and he paid for the chinese . DH has been 95% good and everything is alot more in moderation now, he didgo out Monday night with his best mate and they had 4/5 pints but we'd already agreed he'd stay at mates flat as walking distance from pub and he was home at 8am! However, he is going out with 4 mates for a 'curry' (ie boozing session) tomorrow night so we'll see!!

The bed is pretty broken and not sure it'll last till Christmas plus SIL hasnt even started neices room or ordered her bed so may take longer than I though so look slike we'll need to order a bed its a toss up between a wooden or metal mid sleeper (wooden one favouring slightly as the ladder is flush)

Lizz - it has been boiling todya hasnt it got 3 loads of washing dry in 2 hours!

2happy - ouch re the business loan

LTH - hope you get to see your bf this weekend

PCF - at that letter you'd think they'd send warning letters by recorded post wouldnt you

Rgee - did you ever pick your lilac stuff for P's room?

ladytophamhatt · 11/10/2008 21:12

Hi girls, thanks for all the kind words. I'm going to B'stoke tomorrow so will hopefully see her.
She didn't have the op in teh end.It started naturally which she said shes much happier abaout.
Shes doing ok though. The funeral is on thursday.

G is still waking up at stupid o'clock every morning. I think I'm just going to have to get used to it because the cot isn't going back up.

Ummmm what else....you've all posted loads.

I'm in a quandry about a Frye pair of boots.
I've wanted a pair forever, I've had 2 pairs that were copies but I've always wanted a real pair.
Dh said to get some but they are £154 and it just seems insane to me.
But the that price for this weekend. they coudl go down further or back up soI need to decide.
Its these in dark brown incase you wondered.
Shall I get them??
I can't make my mind up....

eandh · 11/10/2008 21:21

mmmm they are lovely and tbh if you can afford them then go for it but bot sure I could spend that on a pair of boots

ladytophamhatt · 11/10/2008 21:27

they are normally £200+

Lizzzombie · 12/10/2008 08:58

Get them - they are gorgeous. (But apparently not that easy to get on or off!)
I love them.
You deserve them.
They are more stylish than a kyak. x

eandh · 12/10/2008 09:17

Lol at nore stylish than a kayak

Hattie woke me up at 5.50 by boshing me on the head and Ellie didnt get up till 7.55 . Didny help that DH decided to let me know at 2.30ish that it was far to foggy for his mate to drive them back here (its still very foggy at mo) and they had missed last train so crashing at a mates. Now I'm not moaning that he let me know as normally he wouldnt and I'd be stressing (in fact one of his mates gf text me at 7am as he wasnt home!) but I couldnt get back to sleep so feel exhausted!

Thankfully E &H playing in the playroom and watching cbeebies a\nd being quiet and I'm in the lounge chilling watching repeat of xfactor results show (and really need to shift of my arse and make a cuppa)

ladytophamhatt · 12/10/2008 21:03

I ordered the boots this morning, eah made me do it

Lizzz, LOL at the Kyak!!
The fake FRYE boots I had were always fine and I have very slim feet and ankles so hopefully they'll be ok. If they aren't I'lljust sleep in them. I've wanted some forever so i'll wear them 24/7 given a chance.
When they arrive I'll come to E'bourne so you can touch them
I went bra shopping today with my mother....I picked up the 34a I usually am, tried them on when I got home and they look awful. All my bra are 34a though but these 2 I bought today are minging. Could it be because more £££££ bras are truer sizes and my cheap asda ones are larger then the norm?
Bloody annoying regardless...
