Really glad to hear the job seems safe, eandh, whatever happens with the other applications x

theSuburbanDryad · 02/10/2008 19:45

EAH - yes please to book. Is that Sophie Kinsella? I like her stuff.

eandh · 02/10/2008 19:48

so do I - nice and easy to read aren't they can you email me your address ([email protected])

2Happy · 02/10/2008 20:05

Reg - glad the radiator's fixed. And yes, I think I have probably seen every single Diagnosis Murder episode ever made. Possibly more than once . It's so corny!
Lizz - hope you have a great time
eandh - ouch, hope you feel better soon
UD - hope dh not too sore
Shimmer - hope the move's going/gone well
Trixy - heyyyyyyy!!! course we remember you, great to 'see' you, pop in more often!

So we went to the primary school to look around today (for ds1). dh and I did a lot of soul searching, and asked for lots of advice, but eventually decided to go for the wee school in the nearest village. Downside - it's in England so he'll start in less than a year (gulp!); and it feeds into a middle school that then feeds into the crummiest High school in the region, but all the advice was, you never know what'll happen to a school in 10 years time so don't choose your primary based on the high school IYSWIM. Upsides: it's not the school he's going to playgroup at, the one that has the reputation for bullying. And it's nearer to home for the days I don't work.

So we dropped in today, they run a wee toddler group on a thursday morning, so was perfect for me to drop in with both boys. Now get this: nursery has 4 kids in. Reception 1&2 have 8. And there's 2 teachers (or 1 teacher and one assistant, nto sure?) for those 12 pupils! So the nursery area has double doors to the reception area which they keep open half the time, so the nursery kids can see what school's about and join in if they feel like it, but R1&2 kids can (when they're allowed) mingle the other direction so play is definitely encouraged (and the draconian attitude of the other potential primary is what put me off sending ds1 there). They have huge doors to the outside play area that were kept open all morning. They have a cooker, washer/drier. They were all (well, all 4 of them!) helping to make flapjack when we arrived this morning. Oh, and it's free (so if his current playgroup go through with their threat to up the fees, is definitely a good option).
So I'm going to start him there just on a thursday, and turn up at first with ds2 too, but if he settles, I may put him in fri am too so I'd get a whole morning just me and ds2.
So odd to be thinking about school, he was only born about yesterday!!

Oh sugar, too busy wittering. Christmas: I also like chocolate. Lots. [lardass emoticon]
Umm. What else. Pens. Go through them like water!! Um. Funnily enough, size 7 socks also a winner for me!! Ummm. Not great with make up, except lip gloss. I like lip gloss. I have pierced ears. Never bother with hair accessories. Ummmm.

2H pens?????

eandh · 02/10/2008 20:30

2happy that schools sounds delightful! I have to apply for E's reception place in November and am desperate for her to go to school close to preschool but small village school and depends on number of siblings etc. Its based in the middle of nowhere with fields alla round it (with horses on) and perfect for her. Does DS1 start next September, looks like E will start around or on her 5th birthday

eandh · 02/10/2008 20:33

ps anyone seen my new fav photo (top of profile pics!)

vinorouge · 02/10/2008 21:25

I have been away for a week, few nights at mine and dh parents. Relaxing. Amazing how once you arehome you flip so quickly back into real life and its stresses!

Tonight is thr first night ever that ellen has stayed in her bed and not fallen asleep between the door and stairgate. Got to cover her up still but her door squeaks terribly.

E&H - glad all ok with your job. DH hoping there will be some news for him when he goes back to work on monday (hbos)

Rgee - what a bummer about your ceiling

Wilkie - how cool is J's speech? E has just got the knack of names and said everybodys name we visited whilst on our travels, and there were a lot of people!

2happy - the school and nursery sound lovely

lizz - enjoy your travels, hope dj ok with your mum. Eastbourne M'Care sounds very amusing. Our M'Care always has horrendously long or short but very slow queues.

LTH - bet it feels great to have all day free

laughalot - my girls are both very well. Think s is going to get teeth earlier than e did as her gums are super sharp and she has already cut her own finger from sucking it. She is a thumb sucker!

Trixy - hiya, nice to hear from you

shimmer - will be thinking of you getting packed up and settled. Will freddie be going to a nursery to give you some space to get sorted?

ud - happy anniversary.

pcf - hope you are feeling ok

Shimmer · 02/10/2008 22:16

Woooohoooo Just got home from my last day of work! SOOOOOOO happy to be finished!

we've got almost a month now to sort ourselves out before moving to lewes and taking over the shop....

How annoying about your ceiling RGee!! But well done to P on knowing her colours! F has got yellow and blue down, but not so good at the other ones... Although

Wilkiepedia · 03/10/2008 20:01

Hello!

RGee - J is great at colours too.....as long as you point to anything green. He says 'everything' is green So I wander round pointing to trees and grass asking what colour it is.

Me: JJ, what colour is that tree?
JJ: Green
Me: Oh darling you are so clever. What colour is that car over there? [green]
JJ: [proudly] GREEN
Me: Superb!!
Wanky stranger: Oh isn't he clever. Here little boy, what colour is that letterbox
JJ: Green
Me: Oh darling is that the time - quick quick let's get going

UD - glad Mr UD is feeling better. I have so many names that I like - am more than happy to share, just depends what you are having

EAH - that preschool committee sound a bloody nightmare

Vino - glad you had a lovely time. Did the girls get spoiled?

2Happy - that school sounds idyllic

Shimmer - how is the bookshop coming along? Is it yours yet?

Not much to report, have a dull life. BF coming over from Lincoln for the weekend. Going out for a girlie tea.

....f*ckin hell!! DH painting kitchen door, done one side, got bored and has asked me to finish it. Arghhhh!! I do all the friggin decorating in this house - would it be too much to ask for him to do ONE DOOR on his own????]

BAck laters x

eandh · 04/10/2008 16:10

hello - H has no idea about colours (but tbh Ellie didnt really 'get' them till 2.5) been at work this morning (reading new bonus scheme its very good ) and now E&H watching Peter Pan and doing them 'Mummy's Mcdonalds' for tea (nuggets, crinkle chips and a fruitshoot )

ladytophamhatt · 05/10/2008 11:08

Colours????

Bloody hell G isn't even talking yet.

All he have is iiMaaar for me (not sure if hes say emma or Ma) Da for Dh and everything else. He shakes hsi head for no and does a little grunt for yes.

I can't remember how old ds2+3 were when they started....

Lizzzombie · 06/10/2008 08:35

Morning everyone!
Well, I had a great time at Alton Towers and recommend going on a rollercoaster first thing in the morning as the perfect way to shake those cobwebs off! I've not felt so awake since before I had my baby! It was fabulous!

Shimmer - woo hoo, no more work in London! Good luck with all your packing and let me know as soon as you are free in Lewes!
Vino! Haven't seen you on here for ages! Glad you got a bit of relaxation in too.
2Happy - How did DS1 get on at the new nursery place?
Rgee - Bummer about the ceiling. Can you make it a fresco feature?
Wilkie - Have to say that DJ is a child genuis and knows all (well lots) of his colours, and numbers up to 9/10 and he is incredibly good at naming various Thomas characters (ocd!) He never shuts up. In his sleep he sings bits of nursery rhymes too. Its very cute. His favourite word is "NO!!" which he is incredibly good at saying. Loudly. Alot. Constantly.
Eah - Hope things are settling down at work.
UD - Let me know if you are bored in Surrey and we can sniff out Shimmers new bookshop in Lewes! or let the boys loose in monkey buziness.
LTH - when are you free for a late night thursday shopping spree?

Right....housework.

ladytophamhatt · 06/10/2008 12:07

An absolute shit day in teh LTH house.
My best friend lost her mum yesterday. Bf is in basingstoke and I'm here in shitty seaford. i can't go up to see her because i have children and a DH who works shifts.
its bollocks and I hate it.
One of dhs friends also died at teh weekend so he's pretty upset too.

shitty shitsville all round really.

And G has been a little fecker the last few day and up half teh night, i have lost all patience with him. he woke up at 3am as if it was 8am last night ready to start the day. I tried puttimng him in our bed but her just kept pushing me out. I ended up on the sofa with him again. Ds2 is homewitha ear infection so he was up at 1:30am needing medicine.
I've also got sinusitus and feel like death so teh sleep deprivation is not helping.

I have parenting today.

Lizzzombie · 06/10/2008 14:13

Oh no, LTH you poor thing.
I know you don't do hugs, but I'm going to give you one anyway.
Thats far too much to have on your plate at one time. x

2Happy · 06/10/2008 14:43

LTH - don't know what to say really! Definitely shitsville. Hope at the very least you get some sleep tonight, sleep deprivation on top of all that crap, not good
Lizz - glad to hear you had a good time at Alton Towers. How was it being without DJ?
Shimmer - what're you going to do with your month off?

Feel a slight fraud today. ds1 this morning was ok, then suddenly complained of a sore tummy, then was sick. So called work and said I couldn't come in. He hasn't been sick again, and by 10am he was right as rain, and I could clearly have gone to work after all . Oh well. No doubt will make up for it tomorrow!!

Now will someone tell me where my DVD/HDD remote is please. It's gone missing, and I want to watch the last part of Tess.....

OP posts:
ladytophamhatt · 06/10/2008 17:04

Thanks girls.

My BF is ok. she said the last 24 hrs were awful so its a blessing that the suffering has stopped.
I just wish I could be with her, I know shes going to be strong for her Dad because thats what shes like....she'll hold it together so she can support him so I wantto be with her to support her, so that she can let go too.
Her DH is with her so shes not on her own and I'm sure he's doing a fantastic job.

But I just think its time like this that a girl needs her friends and really want to be there for her.

Reggiee · 06/10/2008 19:03

Awww LTH that is crap. Your poor bf . Sinusitus is shit too. Hope the ds's return to normal form soon.

2H have you found it yet? Normally the remote can be tracked to where I last saw DH. BTW I've just taken delivery of 20,000 pens at work today. Do you want one?

Lizz you get any housework done today? How did you get on without DJ? Bet your mum really enjoyed looking after him.

Wilkie I hope you painted 'dh is a lazy ar$e' on the back of the door, then left it

Shimmer you've got a month now to MN

Hiya Vino. Glad you had a lovely time away. Were the il's relaxing too?

Eah the photo is gorgeous! Must get round to putting up some photos back on my profile. And pmsl at mummy mcdonalds!

Erm, so I seem to be watching Barry Manilow on a sky channel. How did that happen ?

Reggiee · 06/10/2008 19:04

Phew. Situation resolved. Just turned over to Freaky Eaters instead.....

eandh · 06/10/2008 19:10

LTH - so sorry to hear about your best friends mum am sure you are doing everything you can via text/phone/email and that will mean So much to her (hope they all sleep tonight)

Rgee - yes I want to see new pics of P!

Lizz - sounds lovely weekend, was DJ good for your Mum

2happy - thats typical isnt it (sickness)

Shimmer - have you started getting packed yet

Wilkie - what have you done so far in the house

Aaaarghhhh Ellie will not go to sleep and I want my dinner and DH going out tonight but he cannot go till I have either a) eaten my dinner or b) shes gone to sleep

vinorouge · 06/10/2008 19:45

E&H - Ellen is curently wailing at her bedroom door, as soon as she is asleep it will be safe for me to go and get my trifle! Just a raspberry one I whipped up yesterday but very yummy and I want more. More!

Rgee - 20,000 pens???? Are they for kids who enter the comps? It was ok at ILs. They annoyed DH too TBH.

LTH - how sad for your friend.

Lizz - glad you had a good time at Alton Towers.

Tried Sylvie on a bottle this weekend and she finally took it so fingers crossed thats it. Ready to stop BF now so hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be able to wean her off it and onto a bottle for all feeds. Here goes!

Heard today that I can increase my hours at work in January which is a relief. It means I have to go back mid Dec but needs must. Still feel unsettled about work cos havae applied for another job but not heard anything yet.

Lizzzombie · 07/10/2008 07:39

Morning everyone!
Lth - Hope you had a good nights sleep last night and your sinisitus is a bit better.
Rgee - Was freaky eaters good for you? Am gutted that BBC3 'don't tell the bride' seris seems to have finished. Did you catch any of it?
Vino - What is the new job you have applied for? Fingers crossed.
Eah - I hope you got your dinner last night

Lizzzombie · 07/10/2008 07:41

ps - I thoroughly embarrassed myself on the logflume at Alton Towers and showed my age/the fact that I worked at Chessington World of Adventures for a while, but shouting out a very 90's "hands in the air like you just don't care".
DP managed to video this (how?!?!) and its on my FB page if anyone wants to laugh at how much of a saddo I am!

eandh · 07/10/2008 07:51

Lizz - I have more than enough weight on me not to waste away but she did settle by 7.30 and I cooked myself a healthy dinner of fishfingers, chips and beans DH just text to say he is up and having a cup of tea then heading home so hopefully I won't have to take Hattie on preschool run (its throwing it down here)

Have Eddas dd for the afternoon and staying for tea so the original plan was to let them bike/scooter to the park but now need to think of indoor ideas!

Vino - did E settle in the end?

Rgee - I endd watching freaky eaters after you mentioned it, don't think that woman was overbothered about giving up chips was she?

AM off to check out facebook

laughalot · 07/10/2008 13:22
