UDC - just seen on an old thread - Dorothy is one of the later babies too! She will look soooo cute when it comes through - make sure you take us a piccie and post it.

Re the saucepan and ice cube puree method - how do you cook the stuff - I thought everything had to be steamed - do you just put a colander into the pan for steaming?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 28/09/2008 07:57

Get the Annabel Karmel books they will tell you everything, boil until just cooked and then drain and puree. You can steam but is just a faff

goingfor3 · 28/09/2008 12:06

UDC That's early for a tooth, well early for my lot as the girls where 11 months and 13 months!

DS finally had some milk. Still taking a very small amount, last feed around 2 am, but at least he is having some and is able to sleep and not screaming so much. I fel exhausted though. My mum is comming later which will really help.

Amber Shame about the zoo. I really like it there. We are going back in a couple of weeks as dp's work is having a coperate family day there - looking forward to eating some hopefully nice food!

goingfor3 · 28/09/2008 12:07

I always boiled the fruit veg in very little water and added some of the water to the puree.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 28/09/2008 16:51

Just come back from our last swim of the summer in my parents pool, the weather is georgeous.

libralady · 28/09/2008 17:52

Hello all, Can't believe we have a tooth on this thread already, mind you one of the children on the July thread also has two!

Just been on my Maire Curie Cancer Reasearch Ladies Driving Challenge today at Bovington Camp. Had a fabulous day in the glorious sunshine. Managed to personally raise £198 which will be matched £4£ by my company.
Managed to get to drive a Falklands War Military Jeep, a 4x4 offroader which entailed going up steep hills and down into water splashes, a fire engine with full blues and twos going whilst overtaking the HGVs and finally a 64ft articulated HGV with trailer!

I am now absolutely shattered. It is surprising that although I drive everyday, how much I am mentally drained having to concentrate so much on what I was doing.

Right better go and prepare the roast dinner.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine.

Amberc · 28/09/2008 20:09

Well done Libra!

Cannot believe how quiet things are today. Off to bed now - tata

aberdeenhiker · 28/09/2008 20:17

g43 - hope things are better!!

Josey - okay, we'll catch up when I get back (I'll be on email and mumsnet while I'm away at least). Hugs to Olivia in the meantime, I'm so glad she's feeding now.

The crying it out is sort of working, but what's saving us is that DH and I are sleeping with Fraser in shifts while the other sleeps downstairs and gets a good break. I had five hours of sleep in a row last night and feel much more human today.

5gomad - wish I'd had your advice for weaning first time round!

upsidedowncake - the first tooth! wow it seems way too early yet!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 28/09/2008 20:54

AH - thank you I work on the basis of the less amount of work the better.

Libra - well done you, sorry we didn't get to come over Edie went to sleep this morning we had a complete change around aswell, i will give you mine and mothers money next time I see you

Lin06 · 28/09/2008 21:07

Hi Just got back into this again... been out and about a lot more recently now my boy's got the hang of breastfeeting. He finally cracked it after 13 weeks of trying - with lots of support from Baby Cafe and NCT breastfeeding counsellors - it's so good not having to go out with bottles of expressed milk and best of all not being tied to a breast pump. And just to think soon we'll be getting our babies to eat real food - not sure I'll start with Christmas Dinner though.

debinaustria · 29/09/2008 06:18

Morning everyone, happy monday to you all.

We finally finished filming at 8.00 last night.Breastfeeding exploits continued at 3000 meters(10,000 feet) on a glacier whilst the boys were skiing, dragged Ethan up in 3 cable cars and 1 funicular railway to get there. I've been filmed ironing, cleaning toilets, walking in the village, having my breakfast, making scones, hearing Stefan read, chatting with friends, packing the case etc..etc... It's been really interesting but so tiring, as whilst you do these ordinary things the director asks questions, so it's mentally exhausting, plus everything takes twice as long as you expect it. So, next week we have 7 days of filming(9-5) in the UK but I think it will be better as they won't be filming in my house and I won't have to keep it clean and tidy!!

the process hasn't made our decision any easier, I feel even more confused and can't believe that in 2 weeks time on national tv we will have to announce to our friends and family whether we are going back to the UK or staying here. These last 3 days have just made me realise what we'll be giving up by going back.

It will be an hour programme on ITV daytime tv, near Christmas time, will keep you posted.

So, today I can relax and do nothing, we're having the morning off from the business and I am planning to sit on the settee and watch tv! Tomorrow I'll start to panic about the UK trip.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/09/2008 08:01

Oh Deb - good luck with the flight and filming must be a difficult decision for you.

Lin- welcome back.

Amberc · 29/09/2008 08:30

Deb if you come back to the Uk where abouts will you live?

poppy34 · 29/09/2008 10:42

hi all - felt bit rough with cold over weekend so been taking it easy... taking advantage of posting as edie seems to becoming a tv addict

grr- dh possibly going overseas for business meeting later this week - means I'll brave eurostar on my own iwth little madam as we were meant ot be going to france - with any luck she'll be having a sleepy day.

OP posts:
debinaustria · 29/09/2008 10:51

Thanks Sophie - yes - a diffcult decision, each country has it's advantages

Amber - we'd move back to Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales (if we move!)

Poppy - hope you get to France this time even though it means travelling on your own with Edie.

ThePenguinProject · 29/09/2008 11:05

Eek - this thread has fallen off my "threads I am on", so am posting quick before my Lord and Master wakes up!

Amberc · 29/09/2008 11:56

Just realised as I am not on hols I can come to the London meet up on Friday if it's still going ahead. Must say all has gone very quiet on the MN front both posting and being interested in meeting up generally. Do you think everyone's had enough of each other?! Or is it because we've got used to it a bit more now (having a baby I mean?)

poppy34 · 29/09/2008 12:14

dunno amber -think I'm more used to the baby thing (can't speak for others) but no less keen on meeting up - think half of it is a few people are out/about now (like you should have been - how was your weekend apart from rubbish zoo visit) so aren't posting as much.

Can't do friday as hoping to be in france - dh now apparently not travelling so can do his fair share of baby holding - she is getting so heavy bless her that I've got a stiff shoulder.

OP posts:
Upsidedowncake · 29/09/2008 12:15

Hi there

Perhaps the quietness is because I've been on holiday??? Mind you, there were so many pages, I couldn't read them all!

Can't make Friday's meet-up, I'm afraid as I have C all day.

Took D for her three-month injections today and the nurse confirmed that she can indeed see not one but two teeth coming through ...

Debs, can't wait to see the show. You must be exhausted though. It's hard enough coping with a brood of children, let alone having to be on your best behaviour while doing so!

Poppy, hope Eurostar's OK. Must be better than flying though, eh? How's your SIL? I was thinking about her the other day.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/09/2008 15:35

Have finally added photos of Edie and Sebastian

poppy34 · 29/09/2008 15:50

cute photos 5gomad esp the one of sebastian asleep on dh... and cool name for your dd

ThePenguinProject · 29/09/2008 17:03

You're right Amber, we have gone quiet. You'd think that because we were being to handle the baby thing we'd have more time to post. I know I've found the weaning stuff great over the last few days, but haven't had much to add to it....

I'm still up for meeting on Friday! I'll resurrect the LL email...

Poppy - I get a sore lower back holding Ryder. And he does need a lot of holding at the moment!

Joined the gym today. It has a creche, so will get an hour or so to myself at least a coupe of times a week. Think it'll do us both good and help avoid huge seperation dramas when I go back to work.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/09/2008 17:18

It is quiet, I ahve the excuse of a screaming baby all afternoon, he has just gone to sleep, and just generally feeling run down and tired. We have the no one in tomorrow, the first since 24th July and then 12th October is the next night.

Essie3 · 29/09/2008 17:28

Amber I'm still up for a meet on Friday! E-mail is playing up though. I was going to suggest The Big Scream in Clapham for you - but there's nothing I particularly want to see this week. Saw The Duchess last week and it was fab despite Keira Knightly.

I've realised I don't post as much either, and I couldn't say why. I'm trying to do bits and pieces of work, and being more mobile, but still... I could say, however, that my life is so tedious at the moment that I haven't got anything to say...

poppy34 · 29/09/2008 17:28

5gomad hope he has settled now..think edie has my cold

dh is going away - just realised our eurostar tickets are really late in day and have no desire to travel alone in evening (getting there at 11pm) with bubs... so pissed off that looks like another french weekend is buggered - sorry makes me sound v.spoiled but there is a practical point that not seen house in over amonth and like to check it
