very tired, but wanted to let you know I have now breastfed on national tv!!!I was all miked up too so I think you may hear the odd slurp!! Spa was fine as the director is very nice and only filmed once I was in the water - no need for the spanx pants!

n night

ps love the food net thing

poppy34 · 26/09/2008 21:31

deb glad filming went well (and lol re b/f)

amber..so glad you're tempted by that beaba steamer ... have looked but wonder if its a bridge to far given the kitchen crapappliances I already have.

and I too have nearly choked my child when I tried 3month plus teats on the bottle..they are back in hte drawer for the time being

josey edie takes about 20 minutes to take around 180ml or so (incluidng burping and a bit of a faff about to wriggle/watch tv that seems to be part of the game) .. but she has got a lust for pints straight from her father

deb well done on your day filming.

josey takes us about 20 mins to 30 mins which is generally just checking he doesn't want any more, he is on gaviscon now and much better for it. Hope Olivia is being a good girl.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/09/2008 21:38

poppy bog standard saucepan and blender works just as well.

poppy34 · 26/09/2008 21:39

5gomad I rather suspected it might and its what I will be using.. I have now been limited to one small cupboard for my gadgets and dont want to exchange any of my existing toys for it

Thanks guys
5GOMAD Oli is being good thank you,she is sleeping so much better taking her milk orally, last night was 9.30 till 8.30 but we missed a feed because of all the sleep whoops.

Taking us about 40mins which I suppose isnt too bad considering. I need to get rid of this tube, she is a different baby when its not in. hohum

I just use a pot and a hand held blender I bought for DS who will be 9 the year when they get a bit older I use it for whatever we are eating life so much simpler.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/09/2008 22:13

Oh God yes, we are going back to not cooking with salt as so much easier just to blitz uo your leftovers. And what a fantastic sleep and must be so much nicer feeding her by hand then by a tune.

So Poppy - what is your theory about teh return of Nic, I never realised her and Helen were such good friends.

Amberc · 27/09/2008 07:05

All - I have never done this before so am clearly going to buy any manner of rubbish before I learn! One thing I did not succumb to though is what I consider to be a ridculous contraption - a bottle warmer. I think I like the idea of steaming and blending on one pot and then feeding it to them in the same thing - only one mess to clean! Apparently it will then wash itself up and put itself away in the cupboard whilst singing a lullabye to your LO.

Josey - as I mentioned - it takes forever to feed Luke but I always allow for 25 mins during the night feeds for feeding and burping (a bit half hearted on my part).

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2008 07:54

You will be amking purees for sucha short amount of time really, once they are past 6 months and can eat meat it is a lot easier to just belnd up what you have eaten and cooked with no salt. What I can reccommend is a few ice cube trays and some small pots, found the ones from lakeland the best to freeze food.

Amberc · 27/09/2008 08:18

Lakeland - sent from God above! I agree with the freezing thing. My only problem is that (this sounds awful) we pretty much live on ready meals! I make 2 or three meals a week like thai curry or stir fry. Sometimes I do a spag bol. Perhaps I need to start rethinking my meals as I can't imagine a 6 month old baby having pureed thai green curry! The rest of the time I have sandwiches or ready meals. I guess not having older ones to feed I don't really have a clue about all that. Maybe that's why a bit of fish and some veggies thrown into a machine sounds like a dream to me. It's only a couple of months away - maybe I should look at the menu for the nursery! It's all hand crafted by Gordon Ramsay, well it must be considering the prices they charge, and organic so I'll get some advice from them. As you can see I like to plan well in advance!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2008 08:31

The annabel karmel books are brilliant for first purees and meals DD lived on them for the first few months as well as what we ate. Once in nuresry you will find that all he will need at home is toast or nack foods. DD gets a cooked meal at lunchtime and she eats fruit, toast, cereal, baked beans and ham in the evenings and then just simple things like spag bol, pasta and pesto, etc at weekends. Must go and serve breakfast and hope this helps.

hedgehog1979 · 27/09/2008 14:37

afternoon all, Hope you are all out enjoying the sunshine. Have been making the most of this weather and have been up on the South Downs testing the 'ruggedness' (sp) of my pushchair. As the London ladies can attribute it does handle cobbles well and now has dealt with mud and all sorts. Loved it. Can't wait til Isaac is a bit bigger as I think people might think I am a bit of a loon - with my comments on what we can see!!

I am starting to wonder how I can get Isaac and me from getting up at 7am to out the door at 9am, yet when DH is involved we have to add at least 60 - 90 minutes onto that time

Am going to ignore all the poo and weaning talk as I have decided to BLW and use Christmas day as my first bash. Was talking about it with my NCT group and they looked horrified that I wasn't planning purees or jars, but they are also shocked by my use of cloth nappies (think that is coz one of the local freebies quoted that environment agency study - nappies washed at 90 and ironed )

Should really be tiding the house as my dsis is on her way here for a couple of nights and we are going to take ISaac to Tate Modern tomorrow - hark at my cultured child!!

Sorry haven't replied to anyone/everyone, should prob take notes when reading so I can remember what I thought

Amberc · 27/09/2008 16:59

Just got back from London Zoo - was crap - hardly saw any animals. Can't believe there are only 2 posts since my last post at 8 this morning!

spongebrainbigpants · 27/09/2008 18:01

hedgehog, we also intend to do BLW but no idea how it works! Will have to do some research!

Amber, sorry the zoo was crap .

Hasn't the weather been gorgeous? We have had a lovely day in the garden, which is looking fab!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2008 18:45

Sponge - look for messages on here for BLW and they should link to a website one of the other MNers has she is called Aitch if you come across her. We did a mixture of both which worked as well, DD liked humus, smoked mackerel, cucumber toms and then garduated to spag bol etc she got the hang of cutlery really quickly this way, so we did that at lunch and then pureed stuff in the evening and then when she was 1 she was in nursery so it happened the other way round. Just make sure that everything is chopped up small enough for him.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2008 18:54

link here for blw

spongebrainbigpants · 27/09/2008 18:54

Thanks 5, that's really helpful. I will look her up!

Upsidedowncake · 27/09/2008 20:08

HI everyone

Just back from France - we had a fab time. Have read through two pages of posts and only up to yesterday.

What is BLW?

Josey, good to hear from you, INteretsing re physical abilities and weaning.

Amber, honestly, a blender and an ice tray is all you need. A friend bought that thing and it was really fiddly to clean compared to a blender and a saucepan. Net sounds fabulous!

AH, good luck with the crying down.

And big news here, Dorothy has a tooth - two little spikes appeared on holiday and now it's joining up. She is so smiley normally, unless she's puking or teething - but no puking for three weeks - since the week of her last injections when she puked every day. Nex injections on Monday.

must go, DH calling me for supper.

Lots of love
xx

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2008 20:22

Wow - our first tooth, glad you ahd a good holiday.

BLw = baby led weaning basically cut everything up really small instead of pureeing, done when they can sit up on their own.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/09/2008 20:34

Hi UDC, welcome back and good to hear that Dorothy is doing less puking - and more teething!

Upsidedowncake · 27/09/2008 22:09

Hi

Sorry, end of last message was rather garbled. Thanks, Sophie and Sponge, is Dorothy really the first? Strictly speaking, it's only spikes at the moment, and not fully out yet, but there's no mistaking the position and shape of it, and the clamping feeling on my nips!

Poor little thing, I just thought the yelling was reflux. There wasn't much of it, and she has been so sunny most of the time since her last reflux bout.

DS didn't get his first tooth till 7 months. Go figure.

Amberc · 28/09/2008 07:06

UDC - a tooth!!! Don't envy anyone breast feeding with teeth to contend with!
