Themasterandmargaritas · 04/10/2008 12:11

J is a little perkier this morning thanks. Doctor says (you know what is coming) it's roseola. The usual virus. He is still Mr McGrumpy though and went to bed at 11.30 and still asleep. And he has lost his voice

Scoot I am of you meeting Charley. Sounds like you both had a lot of cake fun.

SOH is that around Easter time? We will be back around Easter.... Where is Elveden?

ShowOfHands · 04/10/2008 12:18

Elveden is on the Norfolk/Suffolk border TMAM. Poor ol' J. Sounds like he's coming out the other side of it and he'll be all the more robust for it.

Just read iliketosleep's thread in 'Children's Health'. I'm going to do an updated first aid course I think.

AprilMeadow · 04/10/2008 15:02

Glad to hear that J is feeling a little brighter.

Good Friday is the 10th April (Ella's b'day) Do let us know where abouts you will be staying and perhaps we could all meet up.

Ella has been in a foul mood for a few days now, which is quite unlike her. Thought she was just grumpy but noticed a big tooth poking its head out of her gums, so obv thats the culprit! That'll be tooth no.7

MKG · 04/10/2008 19:25

Scoot I'm about 45 minutes outside the City. But if I go up to the top of the Empire State Building, I may just jump off and leave in charge of ds1 and ds2 and whatever flavor this unborn trouble maker turns out to be. You'd probably jump off with me then.

But yeah I would love to meet you.

Actually sometimes I wonder (because I have no life) if I meet mners at work. We have so many UKers come in I wish there was a secret code to see who posts or not.

AbbyLou · 05/10/2008 09:48

Hello all. Sorry to hear a few los have been poorly but glad to hear they're on the mend now.
AM R has also been troubled by a nasty new tooth this week. She has 10 now I think but they seem to be coming in a funny order.
C has his first swimming lesson today and tbh I'm feeling a bit nrevous for him. I don't think he realises he will have to go in without his armbands. The leisure centre here don't start lessons until they are 5 and personally I think that's a bit old to start learning so I'm using a swim school based at the pool at a private school in town. It's quite expensive but the teacher is the in the water with only three children and i don't think you can put a price on learning to swim. I have been told by a lot of people that this particular pool is freezing so C should wear an all-in-one swimsuit. I tried in vain to get him one yesterday but can't find one anywhere - everyone had them in the summer! I think I'll have to order one online and hope it gets here for next week. I'm hoping she will let him wear a ti-shirt today if he is too cold.

AprilMeadow · 05/10/2008 10:46

Abby. thats what i am doing for J, he goes to a swimming club (3 lessons into it) and there are 2 instructors to 4 kids. They have to have the pool temp set to a minimum temp of about 28/30 something like that. Have you looked at Mothercare/Jojo Maman etc etc

Will be off line till Tuesday now as i am off to my Great Aunt's 80th Birthday party and then tonight i am off to Wales to my Dad's cousins funeral tomorrow morning.

Hope you are all having good weekends xx

AbbyLou · 05/10/2008 15:08

Well it weny really well. I am so proud of him. He hasn't had a vast amount of time in the pool before and he was really confident. He looked a little worried at first but the ladies were so lovely he soon settled in. The water wasn't as bad as I had been told although they said it does get cold sometimes.

largeginandtonic · 06/10/2008 07:20

Master i hope J is feeling better now.

I knew CM's barn would be lovely well done on the de cluttering for her Scoot! I want to visit!

What happened on the sleep thread SOH?

I don't cycle, well i can i just don't like it much. DH does to work every morning and has two baby seats on his bike, one on the back and another on the crossbar! Madness, kids love it though.

Tilly i kept my wedding super simple, invited who i wanted too and did it very cheaply. I probably did offend a few people along the way but hey! Good luck with it my sweet, just keep looking at your shoes

Swimming lessons are hell, i did them for years with some of the children. It was Tuesday hell!!! They still couldnt swim well after about 3 years.

I have been to NY, up the Empire State and all that. I went in April while pregnant with dd, it was fecking COLD! Take ear muffs MKG just say COD or fanjo under your breath Sure fire way to wheedle them out!

Had an interesting weekend.... who should be with ex and new wife when we did the drop off? Oh yes you guessed it my sister I had to bury myself in B and walk away, dh had to do the handover. When we collected them i had to avoid all eye contact and keep in the background, i was so close to bursting in to tears. I am not sure i have been this upset for a very long time and right now i don't know what to say or do.

Themasterandmargaritas · 06/10/2008 10:45

Oh oh oh, LG&T. That is too much. I think you have to talk to her soon before all the upset and sadness bottled up breaks out into a huge mess. Call her, forget the face to face business. Pick a time when you can really talk properly and know she will be able to too. And plan it all out beforehand.

J is much much better thank you. Still quite grumpy and sleeping a lot but we don't mind that

Abby well done on the swimming. Swimming lessons are the bane of my life too. It is my mission this term to get ds2 swimming he is 4.5 fgs and here needs to know how to swim. We have been battling with this since he was 12 months old...He was in a pool almost every day, before he could walk, but still kicks up a fuss. Dd swims like a fish, but was forced into lessons at 2, protesting as well.

Tilly you could simply click your red shoes three times and wish wish wish you were somewhere else instead.

April, safe journey.

JamInMyWellies · 06/10/2008 11:45

LG&T what a feckin nightmare agree with TMAM you have to get this out in the open otherwise it is just going to escelate into an even more horrible situation for you.

TMAM poor old Jasper sending get well vibes your way.

ABBEY well done on the swimming we have been rubbish at swimmng with A but just got him into lessons not really fussed about the lessons but by having to pay in advance was the only way I could guarentee I would take him.

AM hope all goes ok.

Busy wkend again in the Jam household we are extending our driveway had a friend down from London and had a leaving do at our local for the landlady. Then this wkend I have another blessed wedding to attend. Also there was me thinking I was not looking to bad for a preggo person but stupidly weighed myself at the wkend to find I am almost as heavy as I was when full term with A.

elkiedee · 06/10/2008 11:59

Jam, know what you mean about swimming lessons, I've only managed to take ds twice since I came back to work for precisely that reason - I was much more motivated to go through the hassles of getting him to booked and paid for lessons.

MKG · 06/10/2008 13:18

LG&T--LOL at saying fanjo under my breath all day long.

On a serious note. Talk to your sister. She could always give you the arguement that as they live closer to your ex they have more access to your kids. I know that would be a reason for your parents to maintain a friendly relationship with him. But seriously, it just looks bad if your sister is there and you didn't know she was going to be.

Call her, and rip her a new one.

Themasterandmargaritas · 06/10/2008 19:22

A quick question for Abby if she has a spare moment - please can you point me in the direction of a website where I can find the key words for Reception kids? I can't find it anywhere and dh and I are not happy with the way ds1 is being taught how to read so we want to try to do some at home....thanks a million.

at the thought of MKG standing at the top of the ESB muttering fanjo into the gusty winds...

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 09:00

wanders in holding head and wearing massive shades

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 09:04

pmsl at MKG.Maybe there should be a sort of secret handshake for MN'ers..like a cooler version of the masons or something..

Is it wrong to fancy Zack Effron from High School Musical.Have just seen him on GMTV.I would..

largeginandtonic · 07/10/2008 09:54

Tis wrong Scoot, very wrong

I quite liked that lad on that singing programme, the one with the soap stars. Richard Fleishman? I lusted for a few weeks till it was pointed out he was ony 15 or something ridiculous

Poor dh! Although some may say that is Karma for the holiday situation

MKG do it

I have posted on t'other thread about my misery. It is very miserable so i wouldnt bother reading it if i were you.

I am sooooo pregnant. I just seem to have exploded, i have all those aches and pains and niggly twinges, bouts of Braxton Hicks etc... already! I know it starts earlier with each one but this is ridiculous. I have also become home dependnant, dh asked me to take a bottle of soap liquid back to Tesco yesterday and i said nooooo, i don't want to go on my own! Barmy behaviour from Mrs Independent.

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 10:13

I fancied him too!Oh what I wouldnt give for an 18 year old bit of totty at times..I would show him a thing or two I tell you!

Wolfs down bacon sandwich and waits for a second

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 10:35

I must get up and get ready and go to work. But I cant.>>wails

charleymouse · 07/10/2008 11:40

Morning all, Scoot you are so kind; glad to see you posting, have been panicking you and the girls might be poorly. G was up all Sat am gipping and had nappies from hell. He still has them, he very kindly gave me the dreaded lurg on Sunday evening so we spent yesterday snuggled up contained in his pen/chair whilst I hugged the loo. In the end had to ring DH and get him to come home from work. I had a GP apt but had to cancel as could not drive that far.

Last night the alarm went off at DHs work before we had gone to sleep so he went in and got home around 3:30 am. Cue tired and grumpy this morning. DD has a terrible cough so me and the DCs are all at home hoping I can manage to stay out of the bathroom for more than ten minutes today. Mum very kindly said yesterday when I rang her "if you had not moved I would come over and look after you both" Bearing in mind Scoot did the journey from near my mums twice on Friday.

Anyhoo Scoot is lovely and glam and her girls are beautiful and well behaved. I made them sit on the floor and eat cat food so Scoot would admit me to the mean mummy club. Scoot hardly ate any cake as well, I had cheesecake, coffee cake and tarte tatin and she only managed a small piece of coffee cake. Had to polish off the rest myself .

MJB well done on the cycling and weight loss. I have lost 3lbs since Sunday am assuming it is fluid loss though and will go straight back on when eat/drink something.

MKG has DH apologised yet?

TSM sounds like you are coping admirably. Do you go on confetti? Should we start a thread for LG&T about her sis?

AM hope the funeral went okay. and you had a good time at the party.

SOH your cottage sounds lovely, full of character. That was one thing I panicked about as they ended up demolishing our barn and rebuilding it so it's more a new build than conversion IYSWIM. I worried it would have no character.

Sorry J is still off it TMAM. I second your request as DD wants to learn to read aqnd we have a phonics kit but no idea what to do with it.

Abby G has a wetsuit from the ELC they might be worth a try.

Elkie how you doing?

LG&T sorry about your sis, she is being a twonk. V Unreasonable in my opinion. Am I too late for a bacon butty, even in my bleurgh state that sounds a nice idea. The only thing I ate yesterday was a couple of biscuits.

Jam Toilet Paper Tuesday a no go then don't worry you are blooming.

12YG and SKY hope you are both well and enjoying those little ones.

Scoot next time DH is being a twonk I will give you a call and take you up on your kind offer.

Themasterandmargaritas · 07/10/2008 11:49

Charley I have just found this with the high frequency words they should know by the end of Reception year.

Pass the butty this way, will you? On second thoughts I'll have some of your cake Charlie, the selection sounds delish.

Scoot, oh scoot, I am with you on the 18 year olds, I just need to look at one and feel all quivery inside, then I remember that I am old

LG&T, I hope you are resting when you can. I'm away to find the other thread.

Pink, I know you are there, do come back, I didn't mean to upset you.

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 12:19

You're only as old as the man you feel

Poor you charley..cross at your Mum.Its only half an hour and its a mare when the kids are sick and you are sick..how are you meant to manage if you are chucking up every ten minutes?

Our boiler or is it the water tank, who the hell knows? is cascading water into the lounge.I am now waiting for the plumber. This looks as if it will be expensive..see careful what you wish for.I didnt want to go to work, but I didnt want to be bailing out water from my lounge either.FFS.Im not compos mentis enough to deal with this today at all!

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 12:21

wonder if i could risk going to get Big Mac whilst waiting for plumber?

Themasterandmargaritas · 07/10/2008 12:24

Can't they just courier you one in Scoot? Since you are family and all that? Sounds like a nightmare, should I send over a bucket?

Charley forgot to say sorry to hear you are all feeling rough. Perhaps you need a bucket too? Get well soon.

TheGreatScootini · 07/10/2008 12:39

I wish.
I think the ceiling is going to collapse.FFS!
