longleat would be great fury, but I have two reasins I can't come! One is schools; they are very shirty about taking kids out of school here, and the other is that I refuse to pay the overinflated UK prices for CP, having sampled the belgian park last year. I just checked for feb half term and they want £1400 for an exec villa . The week before and after it's £550, the money grabbing bunch of shysters

We loved the belgian one though and are planning on going back next year or the year after...at less than half the price of the UK parks!

jbm, wow at the nappy prices! Why are they so cheap? It might be worth a trip to Harrogate for me at those prices.....then I can sell them on for a profit . I'll let you know if I decide to head out that way!

I think they are getting to the age now where they start to have likes and dislikes. Baby Sputnik complained in the car car today when "his" music finished and mine started. He was never bothered before.

Oh god here we go: 2 years of solid Wheels on the Bus etc. DD has only just accepted to listen to other stuff. He took exception to Madagascar too the other day, which was good as I don't like it much either.

Anyway, after our little 3 day break I can see the attraction of holidays based around the kid's amusement. If it's all laid out for you in 1 place it's so much easier. Not what I would choose for myself, but I think, especially if you have more then 1 DC, it could be a lot of fun for them. You may as well go with the flow too at that point.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 17:54

hope you had a good holiday sputnik

glad the jamlet was back to normal today and you got some productive work done jammy

Meant to add, we are looking for somewhere reasonable for the feb half term that has some indoor facilities for DS incase of bad weather, and some pampering facilities for me as a birthday treat. Budget for the week's accommodation is £400....it's going to be tight I think!!

As it's got quite cold here and I only have three babygros that fit DD at the minute (all her other pjs are shorties, I went to get her some more today, and bought these....in my defence I'm thinking she'll only get a few months wear out of them before she is in the next size up, so I may as well get something that virgil can wear too....poor DD . I have a feeling a lot of her clothes are going to be quite unisex from here on in!

Daisy - re the nappies - Waitrose are discontinuing them. i thought about buying a load and selling them on - but couldnt be arsed - all that listing and fees for this and fees for that. then trundling to the post office etc.

Glad you had a good hol Sputnik. Mums and Dads definatley come 2nd place don't they!!

Pudding beckons... back later

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 19:08

JBM, DH is delighted at an excuse to go to Waitrose tomorrow, so if you can tell me exact details of what you want (make, size, expected price) he'll see what he can do

Poor Jamlet. She's crying because of teething (cheeks bright red and I can just feel a new tooth poking through gum). Have given calgel, calpol and cuddles but no use Will have to go up again in a few minutes if she doesn't fall asleep.

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 19:33

Storm - There are walking trails and cycling trails all over the show. The swimming centre, playgrounds and things like wildlife watching in the 'hides' are all free, otherwise there is a massive selection of activities but they do cost extra.

Daisy yes you are right the overseas ones are half the price! But we can't take the pooch and for us that is part of the attraction.

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 19:36

I can have a look in ours too tomorrow JBM if you want.

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 19:38

Storm, do you have an annual pass to Disneyland Paris? Did you have to sell an arm and a leg for it?

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 19:51

Sputnik forgot to say, yes we are still up for meeting if you are!

We'll be there from the 25th - 30th Oct. What shall we do?

TALLULAHBELLE · 15/09/2008 19:56

Evening All. You are all too far for me to meet up with, much as I would like to. But I have met quite a few of the 'North of the Border' ladies. We catch up for coffee every now & again. Tis much easier if you live in the same city, especially a small place like Glasgow with Embra less than an hour away.

Those Waitrose nappies are a real bargain. Am . No Waitrose round here. Friend at work recommended Lidl disps.Very cheap apparently. Anyone tried them? Have had to put DD in disposables cos don't have a washing machine in new flat yet. She has developed nappy rash for the first time ever. Her bum had always been clear with cloth. Odd, I thought the opposite would happen. Maybe the chemicals? Am trying Sudocrem, any other ideas?

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 19:58

Lidl nappies are my favourite - I prefer them to Pampers. They don't have that cold, full, jelly feeling to them in the morning. And a fiver for 50.

Did you sort your baby transport out T?

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 19:59

aha...we have no pooch, so much easier for us. CP is good though. We hired bikes and cycled eveywhere, and I don't think we paid for any extra activities, well maybe the crazy golf! there was a great pirate adventure world there with high level rope walkways and bridges, a galleon, streams, pools, waterfalls, buried treasure, live parrots, sand etc and that was completely free. We were there every other day as DS loved it so much. The on site shop was fab as well; much better than the usual stuff you get in UK....and the prices were the same as the local supermarket, and the food places were all reasonable as well. Only downside was it was full of belgians

I think places get away with overcharging here as it's so much part of the great british stiff upper lip to put up and shut up. If people were prepared to vote with their feet, or be more vocal then prices would be much fairer here I think.

Tallulah, I was wondering if a buggy-pod would work on a double buggy? here it also has a handy seat-perch thingy.

trace2 · 15/09/2008 20:04

hi all i need your advice please! chloe still got v bad diarrhea just water really rang ward yesterday told them about it still happening and chloes nursecame today told her all about it and chloe did two while she was here its just yellow water! anyway shes lost weight and nurse said if still on thrusday to ring here but untill then give her flat lemonde and energy for sugar and carry on giving her milk she wont eat solids, and now even the flat pop comming straight out shes done 6 in last hour, i am getting really worried tbh but shesnot dehydrated yet but shes just not right what do i do?

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 20:05

DD reacted very badly to the Lidl nappies, but that's no real reason for anyone else not to use them!

We've been using the nature babies ones, but have just bought a load of bamboo dispos off t'interweb......at twice the price of the Lidl Nappies

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 20:05

Daisy I would love to go to the european ones! they look fab. And such good prices, what with the bread deliveries, yummmmmmmmmm

But tbh, longleat is only an hour from us and it's so easy to bundle the dog and baby in the car, we can even go after work and still be there in time for dinner.

Ok, so what I have learnt from this, is that people have their own holiday ideas and they aren't the same as mine and I will go to my Longleat and pay through the nose and I won't care
But I thought I'd offer!

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 20:07

Trace given her recent problems I would just get her to A&E.

If it was a one-off I would suggest sleep on it but you don't want to risk her getting worse I would think.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 20:08

Trace, I think I agree with Fury. It's only a few days since she's been home and you don't want to take any risks. Better safe than sorry and all that...

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 20:09

Trace, I would keep getting as much fluid into her as possible. But if YOU aren't comfortable and still concerned, then you should go back to the Dr, regardless of what the nurse says.

Thursday is a long way off, and you are worried. I would go back to the Dr in the morning. Or A&E beforehand if you think it necessary.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 20:14

trace. I think you need to get her back to the hospital as soon as possible really; you don't want to take any chances especially if she is losing weight now as well. I would call the ward again and explain that she has gotten worse since the nurse saw you earlier and that you don't think you can wait till Thursday. If your're worried about dehydration in the meantime, you can get oral rehydration fluid over the counter, or make your own. It's most effective if given after every loose motion.

Poor Chloe . sounds like she is really going through it. Is this a bug or food poisoning trace? This sounds like more than just a hangover from eating the lactose.

OP posts:
trace2 · 15/09/2008 20:15

thank you i am going to bed and dh is stopping up with her till 3 am than its time for me to get up we dont want her dehydtaring while she sleeps, and we going to take her in moring if still same, they tested her poo and found nothing in it so that is good news but i have a funny feeling that dont feel right

trace2 · 15/09/2008 20:19

shewont drink dylite and yeswe think its from the lactose she had two weeks ago but am just scared i now it can kill by shutting down her organs

Bumperlicious · 15/09/2008 20:22

Hi all

DD is being dead cute at the moment, she likes to do "round and round the garden" doing the round and round bit on our hands at arms length then as soon as you get to the "one step two step" she runs away for you to chase her to tickle her, the for some reason she likes to stand on her head and look out between her legs!

Fury, when I talk about the friends thing I didn't mean to disregard you guys on here. I guess I mean people close by who you can just see on a whim and just chill out with.

Your holiday sounds great but not for us I'm afraid, we'll be lucky with a trips to some relies again next year! Also for £700 I want to be somewhere that requires a phrase book! But we can't even afford Longleat safari park atm!

Sorry you've been ill though, you really need to take things easy, you take on too much, you need to factor in time for a break. Hope you feel better soon though

Foxy, love the outfit btw!

Glad the Jamlet is better jammy.

Trace I think A&E is a really good idea, sounds like poor DD is pretty poorly.

JBM thanks for the tip about the nappies, might pop in on the way home from work tomorrow.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 20:24

Trace Poor Chloe and poor you

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 20:26

That does sound very cute Bumper.

Just out a few more pics of Jamlet on FB, from our day out at the weekend.
