Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello

Jamlet fine this morning. A healthy 36 in the ear and very "chatty" and perky. So she got sent off to nursery so I can have a lovely, lovely day to myself. Plan was gardening this morning then a lunchtime swim and shopping later. But enjoyed the gardening so much, and there's so much to do, and after a morning's work I couldn't face putting lunch off to go swimming, so I've just eaten and will go out to do more major pruning later

I am trying to persuade DH that we should take Jamlet on the local steam train "Santa special" in December. Agree it'll probably be as much, if not more, for me, but she might have fun right?

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 12:45

I have an idea, DH and I are planning a trip to Center Parcs in Longleat in March, why don't you guys come along? Could be a real laugh!

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 13:47

When I say 'you guys' I mean any of you lot

come onnnnnnnnn

You'll love it

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 14:09

Longleat is just fab! Love it.

But I cannot commit to March

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 14:12

FOXY WHY NOT?

They do weekend and midweek breaks as well

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 14:38

just an idea. you only live once! I suppose March isn't great in terms of...well, terms.
Kids are at school during that week I think.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 14:49

Will consider it Fury, but I know DH has a severe CP aversion and tbh maybe I'm tight-fisted but I was at the price you mentioned.

Who needs the gym or a wii fit? I've just done 1.5 hours heavy pruning in my garden and I'm hot, sweaty, out of breath and absolutely knackered! Depressing thing is if it wasn't for the huge pile of trimmings (it is all piled up on a 6ft square fence panel and the pile is about 4ft tall) I'm not sure anyone would know. Ah well, I know it's been done.

Ohforfoxsake · 15/09/2008 14:55

BECAUSE ITS IN MARCH AND I DON'T DO COMMITTMENT

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 14:59

I think it's a good price, for me anyway.

I looked at sun holidays, ski holidays, Disney Paris, motorhome holidays etc and they started at £1500 - £3000 for the same week.
Plus extra for things like getting to the airport, kenneling the dog (at CP you can bring the dog with you), parking, hire cars if needed etc etc etc.

£700, for a holiday where all of us can have a good time, where they cater very well for littluns, where we can bring the pooch, where we can self-cater it seemed ok really. It's pricier than say Haven or other UK campsites/holiday homes yes but I have just have the most wonderful 4 days there and can't wait to go back. We are going twice next year we loved it so much.

But to each their own! What is your DH's aversion out of curiosity?

justbeme · 15/09/2008 14:59

Afternoon!!
Thanks for the invite Fury - will have a play on the website - but I must be tight fisted too!! Esp for March!! I'll see what deals there are about

Talking of deals........
I am one happy bunny today - (doesnt take much!) -
after reading it on MN - I went to Waitrose today and feel bargained out!!

Spent £47 - and I got 10 Motherease nappies at £1.99 each, 2 Wraps at £3.19 each, four boosters at 89p each.
Then they had Heinz biscotti biscuits at 10p a packet, some Hipp very large jars at 39p, Hipp smoothies for 49p, Organix rice puddings at 45p for 4, Napisan at 15p a packet, breast pads at 29p and johnson bath wash at 95p.
Actually, I spent £39 pound odd, 'cos I noticed after, that they'd charged me £7.50 for a £1.99 nappy and so they refunded me the whole £7.50!!!!!

justbeme · 15/09/2008 15:01

In fact - do any of you shop in Waitrose??
'Cos I really wanted Large or extra large nappy wraps and mine didnt have any.
I'd need 2 of each size and pay postage.

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 15:05

I thought I was pretty good at living on a budget! Clearly am not as choice of holiday is expensive! I didn't think it was!

But don't care, I love it there and am going anyway, even if it is expensive

Nice work at Waitrose JBM.

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 15:07

Foxy..... balls to your commitment-phobic-ness.

If having 4 kids is not commitment though I don't know what is

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 15:16

JBM, DH normally goes to Waitrose once or twice a week, so if you don't get any joy otherwise I can ask him to look next time he is in.

I think DH is concerned about "enforced jolity" and there being lots of kids about (He is lovely really and not always the kill-joy I make him out to be, honest)

I obviously am from the cheap and cheerful school of holiday. This is more what I would be expecting to pay for a holiday.

HellHathNoFury · 15/09/2008 15:20

That's a very nice cottage.

Wouldn't really suit me much though as DS loves his playgrounds and swimming, and they don't accept dogs.

I suppose that's why I liked CP really, there was so much for him to do, even just watching the deer walk past the windows.

Believe me, pre kids I would not have been taking my precious holidays in Center Parcs though

justbeme · 15/09/2008 15:22

Thanks Jammy -
I'll let you know if I get any in the meantime otherwise -
or if anyone else is going beforehand???!!!!
Their prices seem to vary shop to shop - I would pay £3.20 max per wrap - some shops are apperently £1.20!!

I signed up for the Royal Mail thingy in the money off topic - and got my free 1st class stamps - have just posted my 1st letter and one to do tomorrow. here

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 15/09/2008 15:26

I signed up for that JBM, but they said they were full in my area

Riaonabroomstick · 15/09/2008 16:01

Hi. Glad the jamlet is feeling better. baggins is as grumpy as hell.

I have to go again. Back later.

Sputnik · 15/09/2008 16:36

Well we're back from our hols here, all 3 nights of them. Not sure it was worth the hassle tbh but the kids enjoyed the pool and the beach, DD "swam" (with arm bands) for the first time ever so that was good.

Welcome back Ria

Skimmed through and LOL at the fantasy Manchester meet-up, and birth of Virgil

Fury, that is shit about you ending up in hospital, hope you're getting better. I am still up for a Rome meet up if you're still coming, I hope I can make it as my DPs are over some time in october if they can get their act together to book flights. It's funny, as time goes by we are reversing roles and they are becoming the ones gadding about and leaving stuff til the last minute, I booked our tickets to come over to them for xmas weeks ago.

Funnily enough I may be meeting another Mnetter in october, she came on to the little Italy thread asking about the town near where we live, as she's thinking of moving here. It's a very small and unknown place so quite a coincidence, mnet is a funny place!
