so sputnik...in your esteemed and professional opinion, is Maisy a boy or a girl?

I think he is a boy, as wears boys clothes and plays with trains etc. Being a foreign cartoon (Czech by the look of the names in the credits) I think Maisy is the closest translation, but whoever chose it didn't realise it was a girl's name here.

Sputnik · 05/09/2008 22:11

Girl, ya daftie

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 22:12

I remember that book now Jammy - we had it out the library. Hope its just the name that reminds you & not my funny face .

Am glad to be in new place Sputnik. Is much nicer area & on ground floor rather than 2nd & DD finally has own room but am having issues with hundreds of wee flies seemingly coming in my kitchen from overgrown ivy all over the back of the building. Is quite disgusting & making my skin crawl. Yuk.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:14

nope, I stand by my assertion that Maisy is actually a boy.

How's the bump tallulah?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 05/09/2008 22:15

I rest my case

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/09/2008 22:16

In "Maisy goes swimming" you undress Maisy and she clearly is NOT a boy.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:16

OK, so had a look on the official site and concede she is a she...but with some obvious gender ishoos

OP posts:
TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 22:18

Bump is HUGE Daisy. Friend @ work, due her 2nd early Nov. gave me some tops she had only just grown out of. They fitted for about a week and a half. Can't imagine what I'll be like at the end.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:18

lol jammy the mind boggles

so what's with the dungaress and trains then? tallulah gets to wear skirts and look like a girl, why not maisy?

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:21

When are you due again?

My SIL bought a couple of sizes bigger in maternity clothes by the end of her pregnancy.....but both of her boys were 6lbs plus. She said that maternity tops just weren't long enough, generally, to cover her bump by the end.

What have you done about a pram?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 05/09/2008 22:24

Ok, here you can dress Maisy and, though admittedly most of them are trousers there are acouple of dresses. Convinced yet?

Sounds good Tallulah Yuk about the flies though. Is the ivy flowering? Insects love it.

Sputnik · 05/09/2008 22:27

Ooh, Jammy has seen Maisy in the nude!

Girls can like trains too Daisy.
And I think dungarees can be excused on anyone pre-verbal.

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 22:28

I'm due 13th Jan but expect to pop sometime in Dec. Haven't done anything about a pram except lie in bed awake for hours worrying - what the hell will I do about a pram ?!

Sputnik · 05/09/2008 22:29

Right I'm off to bed, had a 6 am start this morning. Night

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:31

alright, alright she has frilly knickers

yuk to the flies tallulah......Can you get rid of the ivy? It's very bad indeed for the stonework as it fixes itself into the pointing between the blocks, causing structural damage

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 22:34

apparently TAMBA have a for sale board where you can pick up some good second hand bargains.

I hope you can find something that suits

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 22:36

Happy enough about the spiders but you'd think they'd do a better job at catching the feckin' flies. My folks came round yesterday & tried to cut the ivy back as much as they could but it is so overgrown it is everywhere. Not much I can do myself, they are in their 60's (tho pretty fit), DH is in Oz as usual. Was wondering if I could just poison the bloody stuff. Never had a garden before so out of my depth.

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 22:39

Yep thanks will have a look now I'm finally online. Just don't know what I'm looking for. DD will still be too wee for a buggy board & there's no way I'm getting a triple! I have a hard enough time getting my Loola on the bus & in & out of shop doorways.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 23:02

You need some sort of double sling contraption, with one either side!...or face facts that you will never leave the house alone (well just you and the DCs) ever again

I'd start a thread about it in the multiple births section; I'm sure there will be some experience of a similarly short age gap out there

right I am being ordered to bed. DD not sleeping and the last couple of days not eating (which is causing the not sleeping I think) and DH and I are sitting here with eyes like pissholes in the snow as they say.

Have a good weekend all. I will be far too busy (or so I've been told ) to be able to log in.

Morning all

Hi T, glad you are ok. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

6am start sputnik? So what is it you are doing in terms of work at the moment, I forgot?

DKMA LOL at your boss! Mine is a childless twunt!

Got a first birthday party today. The mum is a good friend though so it should be alright. But there will be lots of her family and friends there. I don't know what it is but since having a baby I have been really crap at meeting new people. I think it is either extreme tiredness or lack of confidence but it just sends shivers down my spine at the moment, and I have never been line that before.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/09/2008 11:26

We just took Jamlet out for her first proper tricycle ride We went round to one of her friends to give him a book we had 2 of. She seemed really happy to be looking about, sitting holding onto the handle bars while DH pushed (her feet don't reach the pedals yet, but there is a parent handle).

And my parents are coming here with my sister next weekend, but just for the weekend itself, not the extended visit they were planning. But it means they get to see Jamlet, we get a babysitter, and my sister gets a trip away as well, so a win-win-win situation I think

Sputnik · 06/09/2008 11:51

LOL no Bumper that was the baby that woke me at 6. He spent at least an hour last night tossing and turning and feeding too, he's been doing a bit too much of that lately.

I am still chugging along with my website/internet service business but have done nothing other than maintenance with it since last year. However, Baby Sputnik will be starting to do some time at the nursery from october, so I'm hoping to build it up again or maybe do something different, I dunno. I am very lucky really that the nursery here costs a lot less than in the UK.

Sputnik · 06/09/2008 11:53

Glad you sorted things with your folks Jammy.

Bumperlicious · 06/09/2008 18:02

Sounds like a good plan Jammy.

Been to a first birthday party today. Was lovely, nice food, lovely people. DD was brilliantly behaved, very friendly to everyone, but had to leave early as she was tired.

Thank feck it's stopped raining!

Sputnik, sorry for your early start!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/09/2008 19:01

Still raining here Bumper
Making bangers and mash for tea to make us feel warm and toasty when it's cold and miserable. And I found my slippers! I HEART SLIPPERS!!
Had a real audit of my clothes today. Doesn't fit? Get rid! Not sure if you still like? Get rid! Hot holes/stains/out of shape? Get rid! Bin bag full of manky stuff to go and big pile of stuff for charity shop. One particularly nice top and pair of jeans kept in hope I will fit them again one day, and an assortment of stuff that is OK and actually fits. Need to do some shopping at some point soon (mmm, have just given a load of cash away and now I need to go shopping. How's that going to work? ) to fill in the gaps but hey-ho, I might start looking a little better, and hence feeling a little better, and hence eating and exercising a little better and ...
