Can't get into Facebook just at the moment, but I sent her a FB message about a month ago and she didn't seem to have been on for a couple of weeks at that point. When I can get on I'll check again and also nudge Knitter in this direction...

SalLikesCoffee · 25/08/2008 21:15

VS, is your DP Swedish then, or is this some kind of special skill only unlocked by sleep??? I'm still intrigued by a program that I saw the other day (think it was House or something, so might be completely made up) where a woman having brain surgery was speaking all these languages that she didn't know otherwise. And I've read before of cases where this reportedly happened, with the correct accent and everything. (And I'm quite clearly too lazy to read up on whether there was ever any research done into this or complete rubbish).

KnitterInTheNW · 25/08/2008 21:41

Here I am!!!! (tis nice to have been missed, Ellie!)

We had a lovely week, the caravan park was a bit run down and me & my sis played 'chav bingo', but it was great to get away and spend some time with my family. The weather was sunshine and showers, sometimes both at the same time. We made it onto the beach once, it was gorgeous and sunny for a bit then freezing, but we all just wrapped up and carried on! A few pics here for those who don't have facebook, if you'd like to see!

I bought some baby rice and a sippy cup and some bowls and spoons today ready for in a couple of weeks time, George will be 24 weeks and that's when we're starting solids. I'm kind of excited but also cherishing our last couple of weeks of it just being me & him at feeding times. I think we're going to do puree/mush with finger food at the same time, that's what I've done with all my nanny charges for the last 15 years and it's like 2nd nature. We're getting the svan highchair too, my last but one charges had one and I loved it. We'll definately be getting a spare set of cushions too, much esier to hve a spare set and chuck dirty ones in the wash when needed. I've got my fingers crossed that he'll sleep better then, he's taken to waking up at various times throughout the night and singing, loud and heartily, little monkey.

George is a master at rolling now, but only from his back to his tummy. I can't believe he's 5 months old already, where has the time gone? He has loads of teeth bulging in his top gums and has had a few miserable days gurning and drooling for england. I have sachets of calpol permanently in the changing bag now, for just in case.

KnitterInTheNW · 25/08/2008 21:44

Oh, and I also meant to say that I heart my mooncup, poor thing must think it's been abandoned as it's been sitting in the bathroom cabinet for over a year!

SalLikesCoffee · 25/08/2008 22:15

Hi Knitter. George is gorgeous!!! And he sounds adoreable with the waking up singing! Roelof's been waking up more often too, but unfortunately all cry and no sing... I'm

KnitterInTheNW · 25/08/2008 22:28

Thankyou Sal! He does crying sometimes too, but the singing is better. None of us get any sleep though, because me & DH are lying in bed giggling at the concert-in-the-dark.

PortAndLemon · 25/08/2008 23:53

(PFJ hasn't been on Facebook since the end of June, by the way)

KnitterInTheNW · 26/08/2008 07:16

I have her address somewhere, from when I found her some mini eggs. Should we send her a card or something to let her know she's being missed?

I just hope everything's ok with her.

VictorianSqualor · 26/08/2008 08:12

We could try knitter, I remember she said she was moving before but her post could be being forwarded?

Sal, no, he isn't Swedish but he used play games online and a lot of the guys in his Alliance were Swedish, so he learnt a lot from them, and then went over to Sweden for a while to stay there and learnt some more, he's semi-fluent, talks Swedish to a better degree than I talk French anyway!

Hello all

Got R's school uniform today; Adams have a sale on, 1/3 off everything schoolwear.

Everything here a bit strained between me & DH. But, hey ho, not long until holiday and then he cannot go anywhere for a whole week!

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 11:39

oh and we havent had hot water again - and none until Thursday!

sagitta · 26/08/2008 12:13

Hi all,

I've had a bit of a MN break, while DH has been on holiday. Also I am working again now from home, when A is asleep, so haven't had much time to spare. I haven't had a chance to read the rest of the last thread, did anything happen? Is everyone OK?

Things are going OK here. A is still far from sleeping through the night, but she's awake for really short times, just to eat, so its bearable. She feeds at about midnight and 4, which is OK. I am wondering how long its going to be though! She did a 6 hour sleep the other night, so maybe it'll be soon...
She went sailing for the first time last weekend, and seemed to enjoy it, which is great! And she wasn't sick, which is a bonus. Just spent hours chewing happily on a piece of dirty rope, so I've bought her her own, nice new clean piece of rope now (very short)
And dd1 is potty trained! I've not just got to wean her off the chocolate buttons...

SalLikesCoffee · 26/08/2008 13:33

Well, I admit defeat - I've just made an appointment to see the dr tomorrow, I'm going back on ant epileptic meds. I had an eeg done a couple of months ago to confirm that I'm still epileptic (I haven't had seizures for years as I tend to know how to control it - I have a "feeling" before and then need to sleep and it passes), and the neurologist said as long as I take really good care, I can opt to not take pills. But this morning I got really scared, as I knew if I got up I would most likely have a seizure, but was alone with Roelof, and kept hoping and praying he would just sleep. It's weird, I wonder if he knew, because he slept with me until after 12, which he never does. Anyway, it's too risky for when I'm alone with him, so tomorrow it us. Urgh, I hate pills. I feel rubbish and my head hurts. But at least didn't have the stupid seizure, so should really be grateful.

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 14:37

Sagitta - loving that you got her her own rope

Sal - it would be terrible if you had a seizure whilst alone with R. Very scary for you and him, then. Hope the meds won't bother with you too much.

There is a lovely thread in baby names, putting other peoples name choices down. ds1 and dd are both on there!

LadyBee · 26/08/2008 14:43

Oh Sal, that's a shame, but if you're feeling worried about having another seizure maybe it's for the best - hopefully you can get something sorted that will control it but not make you feel too rubbish.
Any chance you could set up a team of emergency sitters to come in if you felt one coming on? Would you have enough time to be able to get Roelof into cot and work down a list of numbers to get someone over before needing to get to bed or is tht not practical? I'd be happy to be on your list [smile}

I am covered with milky vom today - do they grow out of it? B's always been quite sicky but the quantities do seem to be getting worse recently. It doesn't seem to worry him though so I suppose it's just a laundry issue rather than a health one.

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 14:44

Millie is quite a sicky one too, just little bits nearly every time she burps. is indeed a laundry issue!

VictorianSqualor · 26/08/2008 14:54

Sal, before you go give the BfN drugline a call, they can give you names of which pills you can take when BFing as you will have to be careful what you take or stop bfing. Sup to you which you choose.

LadyBee · 26/08/2008 15:13

ugh, no washing machine is enough of a pain, but no hot water! poor poor you

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 15:14

DH goes to the launderette

SalLikesCoffee · 26/08/2008 15:46

Ladybee, thanks so much for that very kind offer. However, I don't actually have time - I never get them during the day, only first thing in the morning, as I get out of bed (so I end up falling down next to my bed). But on the upside, I've figured out how I feel when I open my eyes if I were to get it - it's a really strange, "sweet" (it's weird, as in taste) feeling, and feeling slightly drunk. And as long as I don't move (not even sit up), just close my eyes again, it passes. After an hour or so I can do little bits (like give bottle or make mobile call), but just shouldn't get up. I think the major thing is to very, very, very slowly wake up if it's threatening. I think what I'll do is to take the meds, but also to get up at 7 every morning, so that by the time dh goes to work (just after 8), I'm awake enough to know whether all is fine. And if not he can work from home. When he goes abroad I'll leave Roelof in his cot until an hour after I'm up, then we'll be fine.

VS, thanks for that link! I feel a lot better now, thought I'd give up bf-ing for the meds (because neurologist said it's fine to bf with it, but gp said not - but the lady on the line said that gp had more general info, and that it was fine with the pills I have to take. ).

Roelof's been spitting up a lot more too. I'm hoping it's just while his body is changing again etc etc. I've taken to covering myself with muslins most of the time! Good luck with the washing Ladybee, Scorpio ('s DH) and anyone else!

Sagitta, love the sailing story! And good that the rope is kept short from the start

SalLikesCoffee · 26/08/2008 20:39

I killed the thread! Anybody, anything?

LadyBee · 26/08/2008 21:00

Hi - Sorry..went off to library to drop back one book and pick up another (that being what is usually done at a library visit ), then it was into bath-bed stuff.

DS managed to out-do himself on the possetting stakes this evening, managed to get one down the front of my top, it missed him completely went straight down the cleavage, through the bottom of the t-shirt and onto my skirt. I heard it, but couldn't see it (was looking on him & the usual spots on my t-shirt) and it was only when I shifted and felt it underneath my shirt I worked out where it had gone.

We also had not one, but two episodes where poor old DS decided he hadn't quite finished when I was in the middle of changing his nappy. This is my life.

Thankfully, DP read my thoughts and is making sausage casserole for dinner which is exactly the sort of comfort food I feel like.

Oh, meant to say...I missed out on a svan highchair on ebay day before yesterday...so annoyed. I'm useless with ebay (not quite as bad as Sal), such a ditherer I always end up sticking things on 'watch' and then forgetting to decide whether to bid and then missing the thing altogether. Sigh.

Peachy · 26/08/2008 21:14

Sal- have you been in touch with the pregnant epileptics people? there's a sign up at my local Surgery- bet they've plenty of new-Mum advice too.

Nice to see you back Knitter

Been an expensive few days!. PC monitor caught fire (!), then dh had tp pay college fees (120 for one gcse, exam fees later)- hes also been signed off sick for two weeks after he pretty much had a nervous breakdown over the weekend. Again. Which is actually good as now he's back on the meds which will make life a lot easier with him!

Bas is dong well- laughing a lot, roling everywhere he wants to go... but not being vocal yet bar squeaing when annoyed. After ds3 am watching carefuklly, but ds1 is light years ahead of his peers so could go either way OL.

School back next Tuesday,, phew! Uniform has practically bankrupted me LOL!

SalLikesCoffee · 26/08/2008 21:15

Lol at ebay and not being as bad as me. You should have told me you wanted it, I could have bought two and sold you one.

Sorry to find it so funny, but I had to laugh at your spitting-up-adventures! (Or B's rather.) I am so embarrassed to admit, but I was very judgy pre-baby. I remember I had to show someone in my team something once, and when I bent over to type something on her keyboard thinking she smelled like baby-spit and that I'd never do that. Oh, to look at myself now - if I'm dressed I'm impressed enough, anything else is someone else's problem. That'll teach mrs judgypants.

Sausage casserole sounds yum!

SalLikesCoffee · 26/08/2008 21:23

Sorry Peachy, x-post. You're right in that at least the meds will help your dh feel a bit better, but I'm still so sorry to hear he's been ill! It's so hard seeing someone you love in pain or upset.

No, I haven't heard of that epileptic group - will ask my gp tomorrow, thanks for tip. My appointment is as 10am, at least I can now get this sorted. I'm sure this'll also sort out my sleepnessness etc - it's probably all linked, brainwaves gone a bit haywire or something.
