Hey ladies

All your pics are gorgeous Gingeme (and I like your hair) my DS doesn?t get very far on grass as he stops to eat leaves (nooooooooooo!)
DS has been a bit grumpy today hardly ate and hardly slept he has also decided that ?hello? means I am going somewhere and has cried today whenever I have said hello on the flat intercom system ? damn those teeth!!
JKS ? glad DS1 is on the mend. Thanks for asking about me and DH, we seem ok at the mo I am putting in special effort over dinners etc in case he feels less loved than before. Hope you feel better soon.
Madmouse ? most of the time the desire for another baby is greater than the worry but when I am tired (like tonight) I wonder how I?d manage! I met a girl today at Mums group who has 2 under 2 and is expecting a 3rd ? then she?ll have 3 under 3 plus she has two older kids ? wow!!

Lilyloo ? hope you feel better soon .
Simpson ? poor you you can?t always be strong, sending a hug xx Glad the meeting wasn?t too bad

Hello all. Colds have visited us, which is why I've been absent.

We had a miraculous night last night.

I'd decided I was fed up and I was going to try and make a few more demands of the baby. So I decided she was going to go into her cot 'sleepy but awake' and then do PUPD.

So..

I took her upstairs, fed her, bounced her, for one minute, gave her the other side but after a few minutes she was unlatching and looking round for DH who usually puts her to sleep. So I put her in her cot, speaking to her gently, rocked her by putting my hand on her stomach. She looked around her for a while, then turned on her side and WENT TO SLEEP! Seven minutes after she went in the cot and without any crying.

I was really prepared for a battle as she's been in our bed for two weeks, but now I feel like Supermum! She's only been asleep for an hour but I simply cannot believe it. Even if we have a horrendous time tonight or tomorrow, I know she can do it and so does she.

And she slept for eight hours! (But she does have a cold, I realise, so maybe she's just knackered!)

Sorry for long boring story but I'm AMAZED. And sorry no personals but to Nathan's escape attempts to MrsMc's blue DS and YUK to Lucky's kittens! Simpson - you don't have to be a hero - you're doing a fantastic job.

oh... and off to check out gingeme's hair!

LaTrucha · 23/09/2008 08:33

No pic?

simpson · 23/09/2008 10:09

LaT - well done on the sleep

10am and DD is doing her 2nd poo of the day, have never known a baby to poo so much

Am on my own today with Dcs as everyone at work but am busy getting Ds's haircut this morning which desperately needs doing he looks like a scarecrow and food shop this afternoon.

Thought i might treat myself to fish and chips this evening....

MrsMcjnr - LOL at Xavier eating grass!!

Gingeme · 23/09/2008 10:39

Ladies good morning.
Just to set things straight that was my hair before it was cut Realy impatient for it to grow. Its kind of two tone where the ginger is growing through the dyed red.
Well done LaTrucha on the sleep revelation
Simpson do you cut dc's hair yourself? I do mine with the clippers. I used to take them to my hairdressers but ds3 had a big strop on the way once and has never returned
Had a fright this morning. I was changing Georges bum on the sofa this morning when he did a flip and crawled over the end of the sofa. Landed with a big bump and cried for ages . I cuddled him loads and walked him up and down the flat. He soon calmed and I checked him over. A bump on his forehead but hes ok. Phew!
Edward was very concerned and was following us saying shh shh .
Glad you like the pics. I still havn't put one of ds3 in his uniform have I? Will do that when I get the chance. He has lunch at school next week then he's full time the week after that

simpson · 23/09/2008 12:20

Gingeme - No not cutting Ds's hair myself not organised enough for that

Have to confess have never taken him to the hairdressers myself before DH has always done it but it was fine It's hard to keep a 3yr old sitting still and have DD in buggy but its all done!!

Now have to go to £ shop as I promised DS a new toy car for being good at hairdressers...

AngeChica · 23/09/2008 13:50

Hi to all

Got back from parents yesterday. 300 mile solo drive with LO and dog, but it was OK, DS was really good and slept lots. He's full of cold now and we had a terrible night last night, he ended up in our bed and DH on sofa & no one got much sleep! I can't sleep well with DS in bed now as worried he will wake and crawl out of it.

Put travel cot up as play pen but if I leave the room he still wails. Just seems to get clingier by the day. But I HAVE to do things like hoover more often now he's crawling. I hope he gets used to it. I'm not going anywhere with him now til say, the spring cos I really want to get into a good routine which settles him down after all our comings and goings over last couple of months.

I really want to start some sort of sleep training but every time something comes along like illness or travel. Next week I am back at work - looks like I will be doing 3 days a week to start with and maybe down to 2.5 if they can get the other half of the job share sorted. Anyway am veguely dreading it.

Had lovely time and lovely weather at parents but it's COLD up here, and raining . Can't catch up but hope all OK. Niece is very pretty and so far being a model baby!

simpson · 23/09/2008 13:52

Ok guys have made a bit of a boo boo and need your advice...

Decided to switch DD to follow on milk so went for hipp organic as it was the cheapest, bought 2 big cartons without trying it on her first and its making her very constipated. So do I

  1. Keep giving hipp organic but buy ready made cartons of cow & gate so she has one feed a day of that? Ie first thing in morning...
  1. Buy a tub of cow & gate and put 2 scoops of each in bottle till hipp organic used up?

Don't think I can take the unopened carton back as have lost receipt and box got a bit battered coming back from shop...

LaTrucha · 23/09/2008 14:10

HI all

Gingeme - sorry to hear of George's bump. Edward sounds very sweet!

Simpson - I often mix a bit of milk into Sabela's food, so I'd be tempted to use the Hipp for that and Cow and Gate in the bottle. Not sure if that's any help.

Ange - I think they're supposed to be clingy this age, aren't they? I think you just have to get on with what you have to get on with, don't you? Did you read my fantastically successful bit of sleep training last night? I showed her her cot at nap time and she gave me a look as if to say, 'If you think I'm napping in that thing too, put your earplugs in, 'cos I'm going to kick off.' . He's usually a good sleeper though isn't he? Personally I like the No-Cry Sleep Solution, though it's very gradual. Gingeme likes it too.

AngeChica · 23/09/2008 14:12

funny isn't it it's SMA that constipates my LO! I use the Hipp milk, does anyone else think it seems to get used up quicker than other milks (the scoop bigger?). It's the probiotic in Cow & Gate that keeps babies "regular" apparently . I have mixed formulas before. As long as it all gets used up in 4 weeks it's OK IMO. Or you cold ask around friends / baby clinic see if anyone will buy it off you that uses it?

AngeChica · 23/09/2008 14:14

he was OK from about 5 months LaT but for last month hasn't been great, wakes up for habit / reassurance several times a night. Doesn't settle if left. Doesn't settle for anyone but me.

Lilyloo · 23/09/2008 14:22

Gingeme poor George DD pulled a statue over on top of her today has a real bump to her head now too! Need eyes in the back of your head!

LaT YEAH hope it continues.

Ange sympathies! Didn't do hv cc suggestion but did keep her awake until 10 today before having nap as she was having one at 8.30 so then she has had he afternoon nap later just gone down now so hoping can cut out 4 nap and see what happens!

MrsMc dd does that it lovely here today just been in the garden with her but she won't stay on blanket and keeps eating grass!

Simpson hope ds likes his car.

For all those others with older dc's i am selling some cheap disney dvd's on here!

MM LOL at Nathan double chin!

JKS glad things ok with dh it's so hard splitting yourself around keeping everyone happy!

Hope everyone else ok!

OP posts:
simpson · 23/09/2008 14:22

Angechica - I was thinking that the scoop was bigger too, thought it was just me!! Even compared it to the cow & gate one this morning Its definately the probiotic that helps her "go" but her poos were sooo runny they were making her bum sore as it was squashing everywhere (sorry TMI)

SMA was the first milk she was on and that made her constipated too

Do you think its just her systerm getting used to new milk iyswim? Yesterday was the first day.

LaT - Had not thought of that!! Could put it on her porridge or something, it would pain me to throw away £12 of formula milk!

DD clingy today but I guess it is understandable with all thats gone on and her dodgy tummy. The only thingI can leave her in is the activity station.

Gingeme · 23/09/2008 15:30

Afternoon ladies.
£12 for formula whats it mixed with gold dust? Try making her cereal with it as suggested or give it to her slightly watered down to begin with like 7oz water with 5 scoops. That might help. George is on Aptamile follow on and all seems ok so far. He's none the worse for his acrobatics this morning
Welcome back Angaechica. Glad you had a lovely time at your parents. Its so nice to get away isn't it?
LaTrucha I use the PUPD method mostly. Though some babys are better then others yswim? ds4 used to settle realy quickly when used on him where as ds5 fights it more and it seems to take alot longer to settle him.
I used SMA with ds1 and 2. ds2 was mega constipated on it. Hate the stuff . Never seen a baby in so much pain

simpson · 23/09/2008 18:02

Gingeme - I was stupid and bought 2 tins of the stuff without trying it first on DD obviously not trying it myself!!

DS was on SMA and was fine but DD struggled and was bunged up from day one.

Good idea to have say 5 scoops in 7ozs water. Why didn't I think of that? [blush}

Gingeme · 23/09/2008 20:06

Because you have enough to think about at the moment. If dd becomes too constipated Iv'e always found a medicine spoonfull of oj helps move things along

simpson · 23/09/2008 21:14

Sorry to keep moaning about DH but things have gone totally bad

He turned up having walked out of work (thank God the Dcs were in bed) he was not well you could see it in his eyes.

He refused to leave the house I was in house on my own had to call my parents to come back. We called 999 and they have been here for 2 hrs trying to get him to leave. He has now gone by ambulance to hosp....

Don't think I can take much more...

Have to pretend everything is ok for kids tomorrow.

Have spoken to his sister and have broached DH going to Ireland...

madmouse · 23/09/2008 21:44

Oh simpson sweetheart so sorry, it just is so hard for you at the moment. Keep talking to us on here, we understand.

Make sure the dcs are the only ones for whom you are putting up a brave face and let people support you. and do go to CAB tomorrow as you need the practical issues to be as smooth as they can. I am still checking my madmouse email in case you need me.

hi everyone else. slow and easy day here, tuesdays are dh's day off so we had some time together. nathan is settling in a sleeping pattern of needing to be resettled/fed some more a few times during the evening, then sleeping from say 11-12 to 6-7, so i am a lot more rested. This morning he kept me awake from 6-7 crying, feeding, talking to toy hare, singing ( so cute I swear, just making all sorts of different notes with his little voice I was in stitches) and eventually feeding more then I woke him at 9.30

Oh, and he is saying mama and mummy , but only when he cries. so clear though. Not kidding myself that he knows what it means yet.

Welcome back Ange

Formula seems complicated, am about to start on it too, bit daunted.

LuckySalem · 23/09/2008 22:35

Simpson I'm so sorry to hear this. I don't know what to say except that we're all here for as long as you need us. HUGS to you hunny.

MrsMcJnr · 23/09/2008 22:36

Hey ladies

LaTrucha ? fabulous!!! hope Sabela keeps it up. DS has been wonderful today ate all his food, slept for 45 mins in the morning and 2h45min in the afternoon, crawled and cooed as he played all day and went to sleep in his buggy without any fuss when we went out for dinner with friends. I am SOOO lucky

Simpson ? so sorry about DH hon, it must be so hard hope you did treat yourself, you deserve it! that?s tricky about the milk, have you tried giving her boiled water too? They also give babies here fennel tea for constipation. Perhaps the new formula just takes some time for her to get used to? If it was me, I?d mix it with the C&G (we use that).

Gingeme ? sorry hon your hair looked different though from the last pic I saw sorry to hear about the fall ? why do they try to launch themselves into the unknown like that?

Angechica ? sorry to hear about DS not feeling well I?m like you, always worried that DS will fall out of our bed, DH goes mad as in the night I think he is DS and won?t let him roll! good luck with returning to work.

Madmouse ? wow! Words!

Hey lilyloo

DS can definitely crawl now, I let him roam the house (under a very watchful eye) today as it was pouring with rain and he stayed in.

LuckySalem · 23/09/2008 22:40

I forgot to say last night we had a "mum" "daddy" and "nana" while being wingey on her bed. I don't doubt they were just coincidences though. lol

fillybuster · 23/09/2008 22:43

Hi all...am miles behind (still catching up on the weekend ) so no personals...

DH has had to shoot off to New York at the drop of a hat, so am on my own with 2 kids until Friday afternoon Would be alright but am desperately sleep-deprived due to ds (normally an excellent sleeper) being ill over the weekend and keeping me up like a jack-in-the-box both nights Which also meant I had to miss my sister's party as dh was at work (literally the whole weekend) and there was no way I could leave ds with a babysitter in that state. Am gutted...was the first 'proper' party in ages (you know, childless people, dj's, decor, proper drinks, going on until 6am...not that I would have stayed past midnight of course, but its the feeling that counts!!!)...

I moved Tamara onto stage 3 milk over the weekend as I thought that possibly her lack of appetite was due to drinking too much stage 1....she is now quite constipated, really straining to get her poos out...and pooing about 8 times a day!!! All small hard pellets, but taking a lot of effort. Then she threw up her dinner. Is this milk related? Do I shift her back? Advice please

Aaargh, ds crying...got to run xx

MrsMcJnr · 23/09/2008 23:05

Filly - poor you, sounds tough I still have DS on stage 2 and don't plan to change to follow on milk, he seems fine on it just now.

simpson · 23/09/2008 23:13

Filly - DD exactly the same here went through 4 nappies in 10 mins. They really smell too!

Lucky - speaking already, I can't wait till that.

Madmouse - Wow Nathan said mummy!! Will definately email you tomorrow when I am thinking clearer. He is at hosp ATM just waiting to find out if he is staying overnight or not.

Mrs Mcjnr - All these babies crawling!! My DD is trying desperately to crawl but gets v frustrated as she can't yet.

LuckySalem · 23/09/2008 23:20

Simpson - I don't think she's speaking. I think she's just making noise and some words come out now and then.
IN regards to crawling. DD was like that for a couple of days then suddenly started, then about a week after that there is no stopping her. Try putting a toy just out of reach while she is on her tummy.

Hope your DH is ok for tonight and you too. Please keep talking to us if need be.

Filly - hope things gets easier soon.
