betterhalf · 20/09/2008 13:34

Toby spent his first night in his own room last night. He slept like a log and I was up and down all night checking on him!
I promise myself I will not do that tonight!

Glad you are enjoying the day Simpson, and are keeping strong.

Hi to everyone else and hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. I hope it's like this next weekend when we go off on hols, although it will probably be belting down with rain by then! Ah well.

justkeepswimming · 20/09/2008 16:51

hi all, lovely weather here too

ds1 off colour tho he ASKED to go to bed and slept for 3 hours, up watching tv now but doesn't want to eat anything, not even a 'mummy biscuit'! i know he has a cold and cough but didn't think it was anything major. will try calpol later if he stays hot, not sure if temp or cos he was tucked up in bed for so long.

madmouse - i did have one of those spider catcher things but it wasn't long enough for me and the whole idea of making the spider approach me at speed (even inside a tube) just gave me the creeps!

more spiders found in car yest - 6 one was crawling around near me whilst driving home from park, luckily quiet roads....
eventually they'll give up right with lack of food????? please?

betterhalf - well done toby now for your sleep training!!

LaT - i've added a fleece blanket too and ds2 loves to chew it. someone asked ages ago about them liking fabric on their faces and he does, covers his head with either a muslin or the blanket
glad something is working for S.

mrsmc - hope you (and I) get more sleep tonight...

lucky - how went the shopping? i need to get a 3yr old (boy) present, went to get a transporter lorry that was in asda last week but they have filled up the toy shelves with halloween stuff need a new idea....will have to face town in the week i guess, yuk.

right, ds2 getting grumpy and dh trying to find a tea that will tempt ds1 so best de a dutiful mother and get off MN!!

LaTrucha · 20/09/2008 17:26

ummmm...ladies? Those of you who have a playpen, does your DC hurt themselves against the bars? We've just put ours up and she has already hit her head three times. AndI was in the playpen with her!

hmmm ... maybe I should have got a travel cot after all...

LuckySalem · 20/09/2008 19:44

Sorry don't have a playpen, just the travel cot. Although DD has taken to hitting her head on the walls. Also hitting her head with her fists while she's feeding so maybe its a phase?

Mrs Mc - Kittens aren't too much, its like they're not here most of the time. I go up and play with them when I feel like it, all I have to do is go up and feed mum at the same time i'm feeding my cats and clean the litter box out at the same time I do ours so it really is nothing. Alot less hassle than I was ready for.

I've got a question..... I want to make more friends so the lady that came to do our homecheck lives near and was saying she was lonely. I invited her out for lunch one day and DP thinks i'm stupid as I don't even know her. Surely that's how you GET to know someone though isn't it? She's coming here tomorrow as well to drop off food for the kittens and he thinks that silly too.--- is it just me?

LuckySalem · 20/09/2008 19:47

Oh and JKS, I got him a hammock for all his teddies and put £5 in his card - feel abit ashamed but I really didn't know what to get him in the end.

LuckySalem · 20/09/2008 19:52

Also forgot to say that Aaliyah and me had a WONDERFUL time at the party. She was so well behaved. She loved it and never winged once, must have been the atmosphere and the fact that there was so much to do.

LaTrucha · 20/09/2008 19:57

Yes, Lucky - that's how you make friends. Well done you!

MrsMcJnr · 20/09/2008 23:48

Simpson, I really admire you, you are being so brave for everyone, don?t let it take its toll on you, take good care of yourself x

LaTrucha ? the whole question of what to dress DS in at night makes me sleepless sometimes. His room is now 24 degrees and he is wearing a short sleeved and legged body suit and a gro-bay which is max 2.5 tog but seems a lot thinner to me. DS does bang his head on the bars but also on other things so I don?t think the playpen is really the issue here.

Betterhalf ? I hated DS moving into his own room; hope you get more rest tonight!

JKS ? poor DS1 hope he is better soon.

Lucky ? sounds like you are enjoying the kittens Hope you find a good friend in your homecheck lady

We?ve had to make some changes to our routines are they were becoming unsustainable we can no longer bring DS into our bed in the morning for a bottle, play, cuddle and snooze as we daren?t snooze with him as he?d climb over us and fall out he can no longer have a naked kick on the bathmat before his bath because there are too many hazards (like the loo and bidet) to bang his head on when he rolls about and wriggles out of DH?s reach, we also need to start teeth brushing instead of wiping.. are you all teeth brushing now?

Gingeme · 21/09/2008 10:53

Morning ladies.
A big well done to simpson. Your doing a grand job. Very brave.
LaTrucha as everyone else has said lo's do bang their heads when they are too young to look out for the dangers. DS5 bangs his head everywhere I often het woken by him banging his head in his cot expecting him to start crying.
Glad you had a good time at your party Lucky. You ften find lo's (and big ones) behave totaly different at other peoples houses sounds like a good idea inviting this lady for lunch. You could become good friends
Took the boys over the park yesterday. George was crawling for what seemed miles on the grass. He had great fun with all that freedom. He kept sitting up and giggeling at the big boys running about too Have put some pics on my prophile .
Off to Tesco now.
Have a good day all x

justkeepswimming · 21/09/2008 11:20

morning all

well ds1 had one fish finger and 2 polos bribery to get him to have anything.
went to bed as normal, up at 5.40 today but considering his 3 hour sleep yesterday we got off lightly. think he is better today but just 'emotional' - crying whenever something he doesn't like happens - well that'll be most things when you're 2 then...

ds2 didn't wake up at all! hoorah!!! 7-6.30. then again he has done that before and been back to 2 feeds the next night so not celebrating just yet.

LaT - we used a travel cot with ds1, not got it out for ds2, may just let him roam free

Lucky - i would say that's EXACTLY how you got about making friends. i mean you know you have liking animals in common already, she lives nearby, perfect i would say.
glad the party went well - tbh when birthdays come round here i would be happier with a fiver in each card rather than more plastic to add to the mountain we already have i know, not the spirit of presents at all, esp not for kids.

MrsMc - you have reminded me of changes we had to make with ds1, haven't had to think about it yet as ds2 seems content just to sit anywhere you put him, as long as he has a toy to chew in reach! it's a pain when you've got into a routine that works, then they go and develop on you!!
you and dh ok?

Gingeme - going to tesco on a weekend day with all the boys??? rather you than me
park sounded good, really should try to get out in the garden in a mo, dh off out on a work thing for a couple of hours so on my own - letting boys watch big cook little cook. hoping to get boys out to see a Vulcan (old jet) aeroplane at the airport later, they only let you on a few times a year so should make the effort, depends on ds1 tho, if he asks to go to bed again then we'll stay home i guess.

right, ds1 announcing he has finished his poo, best go!!!

madmouse · 21/09/2008 16:50

Hello ladies

How are you all?

happy birthday to dh, 41 today and does not want to know it. Nathan gave him a card and the children's book 'Where the wild things are'. Enlightened self interest . So just been out for lunch at Nando's. Nathan ate a whole small jar of apple and cranberry desert. Not a proper savoury meal I know but he likes it and I waste so much food bringing a proper savoury jar as he will get distracted and not eat much and when you feed from the jar you can't save it.

Were at friends last night and the idea was that Nathan would sleep. Did not fall asleep until 9.30 though. Did travel home all snug in his travel grobag that has zips for the car seat harness, great idea. Insisted on feeding again at 10.30 and 12, then slept til 7, so I am feeling quite alert today!

Anyone else very daunted by the thought of another pregnancy? I really want another bubs quite soon, but not sure I am ready to hand my body over to another little monster while I still haven't had it back from Nathan. And there is all the worry that I will no doubt do. I wish that I could have another one without the 9 months.

Lilyloo · 21/09/2008 20:04

Madmouse Happy all be it a bit late, Birthday to DH.
Oh lillyloo Hope you feel lots better real soon.
We discovered two more top teeth today . Could explain all the horrible sleeping and waking so bloody early
Had a great afternoon at Highgate Woods today. Got lots of looks with all our boys with us . Love those woods and the playground is just fab.
Glad to say I have no intention of any moe babys. I was looking at some of the pg ladies at the park and thought to myself 'glad I'm not doing that anymore. Yes realy!
Did another half hour on the wii fit today too. Didn't enjoy it as much as I usualy do as its nearly period week so I'm feeling pretty tired.
Ah well have a good night all
xxxx

simpson · 22/09/2008 09:06

Madmouse - happy belated birthday to your DH

Lilyloo - hope you feel better soon

Gingeme - still no teeth here

JKS - hope the good sleeping continues!!

Lucky - good on you for making friends

MrsMcjnr - We are having to watch DD ALL the time as she is rolling constantly but at least she can roll back now.

Betterhalf - hope Toby still doing well in his room.

LaT - sorry to hear Sabella bumps head in playpen. No help here as only have travel cot sorry

Ds has just been picked up by my dad to go to playgroup. He is going to see his dad afterwards, lets hope that goes ok...

LuckySalem · 22/09/2008 11:49

MM - Happy Birthday for you DH - better late than never

Lilly - Hope you feel better soon.

Simpson - Keep your chin up and I hope things are good for you today.

DD is crawling EVERYWHERE. She's climbing upto stuff and then crying cos she can't work out how to get back down again. Or falling down cos she's trying to get back down again. I REALLY have to babyproof this house but I don't know what I need to do.....

Gingeme · 22/09/2008 12:26

Afternoon ladies.
Much better night last night. Slept from 7-4 had a bottle and Calpol then slept till 7.20.
Our local Tesco has been made in to a super store so we thought we'd check it out. A friend told us of new trollies they have that have cars on them for lo's to ride in. So we found one eventualy, in fact we stalked a woman who had taken one to her car to unload her shopping before we pounced on her for the trolley . Put ds4 in it and away we went. Dh pushed it and said how difficult it was to push. Then ds4 got bored halfway round and wanted to get out So we won't be using one again.
Lucky well done lo for crawling. The usual stuff you start with are plug covers, a stairgate for stairs or rooms you don't want baby to get into, ours is on our kitchen door. Basicaly move everything atleast a foot higher.
Simpson hope all goes ok with ds visit to his Dads. Your doing a fab job. Keep up the good work.
I hope everyone else is in fine fettle.
Off to make some lunch for ds3 and myself. Everyone else asleep and dh at work.

simpson · 22/09/2008 17:51

It's a bit quiet on here today...

DD has gone to bed already as she is totally knackered.

Just about to bath DS. No rest for the wicked!!

DH has been improving but has been horrible to me on phone today saying its all my fault I put him under too much pressure. WTF!! I know he is not well but sometimes it really is too much

While he is wallowing in self pity I am looking after his kids 24/7.

Sorry to rant but feeling REALLY peed off and not very brave today

Lilyloo · 22/09/2008 20:01

Simpson sorry to hear he is taking it out on you , rant away must be very hard

Thanks all feeling a little better today think my body just gave up after dp got back!

DD had her 8 mth check today all fine and HV weighed her first time since May 16lbs so she putting it on where does that lie with all your lo's ? Although she still on same centile so good.

Talked about lack of sleep and she basically suggested cc can't bear the thought of doing it but am i being cruel not too She said she is on a 24 hour clock so is getting her feeds at night instead of day (tell me something new) but she did say she may find bf at night easier as let down is quicker !

Also just to boast about ds he got man of the match at his football game tonight , very proud, as he has moved up from 4-7 class to 7-9 class but he still 6!

And to moan dd1 is being a little devil she has the most stubborn streak and it's a real battle of wills at the minute!

Will try to catch up now and wave to everyone!

justkeepswimming · 22/09/2008 20:19

madmouse - hope your dh had a good birthday, i lurve nando's
part of me can't wait to be pg again, and if it wasn't for my c-s i think i would get tempted but will stick to a 2 year gap before ttcing number 3 (i will i will i will, honest!) it does do your body in tho - esp if you are like me and eat far too much so have loads of weight to lose!!

lilyloo - it's hard work on your own i know and i only have 2, not 3 dcs. not surprised your body gave up a bit.
ds2 is about the 20lbs mark, was 19,11 a couple of weeks ago. he's just above the 50th line for weight, above the 91st for height tho...
well done to ds

gingeme - the woods sounds lovely, tesco less so i need to get on the wii fit more, too tempting to collapse on the sofa once the boys are in bed

simpson - just know we are here for a daily rant! you are being really brave but it must be sooo tough on you. keep going and let your family help as much as poss.
we had another good night for ds2, ds1 woke at 5 but went back to sleep until 6.30, ds2 went 7-6.45!! hooray, please let this continue.....

i have my first period at the mo and really struggling with how heavy it is (sorry if tmi), needed a change at 5am, and have been caught out a couple of times today. have my mooncup but haven't been brave enough to try yet. think it explains the previous few days of grouchiness though which is a relief.

lucky - try crawling around at her level and see what catches your eye...wires dangling, bright buttons, flashing lights, etc. good luck!

dh out so watching recorded high school musical thing, total trash but hey. got laundry to sort too, plus need something to eat.

hope everyone doing ok

simpson · 22/09/2008 20:31

JKS - Sorry but LOL at imagining myself crawling round bum in air at DD's height looking for dangerous objects

Don't think tonight is going to bode well. DH has come to Ealing insisting on meeting me so going round to meet him in approx 30 mins

Lilyloo - glad to hear you fell a bit better. Got DD weighed last week but can't remember what she was sorry (bad mummy!) but think it might have been 16lbs 4oz...

Gingeme - They are talking about opening a new tescos superstore new me am excitied and its not even open yet, how sad am I...

Forgot to say earlier went out for lunch with my youngest brother and DD ate some scrambled egg and loved it!!

LuckySalem · 22/09/2008 20:56

Simpson - Hope everything ok for tonight for you.

JKS - Will try the crawling thing but definatly only when there is no-one to see me do it! lol

I don't know what DD weighs (can't remember) but she was on the 75th percentile! lol. something like the 25th for height (we're both short-arses so expected really)

Just been up to feed the kittens to find one of them in the litter tray (clean thank god) eating the litter (that's sick face by the way... lol)

madmouse · 22/09/2008 21:02

Simpson hang on in there and keep thinking it is his illness talking and anyway you know he truth.

Lily glad you are feeling better. I am getting nathan weighed next week and hope (and know ) that he is a bit heavier. He was 14 something last time but has sprouted a double chin since then and his tummy is still growing. i think his head is also growing which would be great news.

He is a bit clingy today, those bottom teeth look like they are on the way though (still no teeth at all). Not that keen on lunch today (but maybe he did not like c&g chicken curry ) but he did eat with us (salmon green beans and rice, just his was blended and minus teriyaki sauce on salmon) and seemed to like that.

Tonight he was on his changing mat in his nappy and phone went. Grr, dh meetings of course so all down to me. It wa the lady who helps mil with her affairs with something important. meanwhile in the nursery nathan rolled on his tummy (new trick! thanks to physio) ono the wooden floor in only a nappy and set about trying to cross the room, screaming all the way. Of course he got nowhere as the floor was too slippery but he kept trying. I had to laugh, it did look funny.

o well, enough waffle. very pleased, just cleaned the fridge!

madmouse · 22/09/2008 21:03

hello Lucky

hey they are babies, everything goes in their mouths

LuckySalem · 22/09/2008 21:04

Thats what I told myself but yuck!! lol

Lovely to hear nathan is getting more mobile!!

simpson · 22/09/2008 22:49

Madmouse - Nathan is a determined little fellow isn't he

Lucky - yuck at litter lol

Well just got back from meeting DH my brother and dad were there too so not too bad, feel better for seeing him TBH.

Am going to CAB on Wed as I need my mum to have DCs to will have to get my head together before then Need to get a list of questions together ie about work and benefits etc and benefits of living in our house by myself (if it came to that)
